Came in here after a recent name (and owner?) change to see how it is now... and was not disappointed! The gyro on a pita was pretty legit and tasty. Also tried an open faced chicken plate that was delicious. Prices are quite reasonable for the quality here. It's a small place inside. There's a couple tables, but I wouldn't plan to sit down unless you're hard-pressed to eat immediately. The outside seating is cute though, and if you can snag a table out there then it makes it a cute little spot to have lunch. The baklava is made fresh daily... mmmm! Definitely enjoyed having a fresh piece. Even though you pay in advance at the register, they brought it out after I was done with the main course - nice! They have a great little assortment of freshly made baked goods / sweets, so that in and of itself is deserving of special mention. The service is really good here. I ordered the Chicken Kabob and it was made just right and flavorful. Not dry at all. Came with a green sauce that I couldn't get enough of. There was a gentleman who took the order and a lady who was preparing the food and they were very friendly and attentive (they might have been the owners, not sure). Came and asked us a couple times if everything was ok. Great service! The kabob usually comes with rice but I had it with fries. The fries was the fat crinkly type. Stopped by while waiting for a smog test nearby, and I was pleasantly surprised. A whole in the wall in the Sprouts parking lot, the place is very small but does have some indoor and outdoor seating. I had the beef kabob entree, which came with rice and a small salad. The hubby had a gyro meal and swapped out his fries for a salad. His salad had lettuce, tomato, feta and olives. The salad that came with my dish was very small, no olives or feta. The salad may not have been exciting but the kabobs and rice were outstanding! And as much as I love tzatziki (it's the only reason I eat kabobs) their spicy green sauce is my new favorite kabob sauce. It was so good I was scraping the container to get every drop when the owner noticed and brought me extra sauce. The meat was tender enough to cut with a fork and perfectly cooked. This is a great local kebab place. Really enjoy their shawarma sandwiches. My personal favorite is their Chicken Shwarma, but their lamb is also delicious. I have dreams about the potato bolani! It was so so good- full of flavor, hot and buttery. Reminded me of my mom's aloo paratha, but without the lectures on the side. The chicken kabobs were juicy, the rice soft and fluffy. And the garlic sauce and zhoug given as sides were perfect for dipping. Wouldn't pay $6.99 for it again it was more on the dry side instead of creamy and with oil on it. The lamb shank was ok, definitely tender and fell apart with a slight push of my fork but the flavor was on the bland side and screamed for seasoning, the rice with raisins was tasty and I would eat that again but it needs a flavorful lamb shank to go with it. Maybe an off day in the seasoning department. For the price of 13.99 it was still worth the full belly I got after eating. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now and was super excited because of all the hype. After reading some bad reviews I was scared but it was already too late. I ordered hummus and pitas, chicken, rice and fries. Let me start off with the good, the sauces were great and so were the fries but green sauce was so runny it reminded me of wannabe hot sauce but watered down. The chicken was juicy but not the typical chicken kabob flavor, still ok though. The rice was buttery and good. Ok so if you go here DONT buy the hummus, unless you want dry non traditional hummus, the picture I saw of it looks nothing like what I got. Also it has no oil and it has black olives instead of Greek ones, I love all kinds of olives but it was still odd. Tried this place on a whim while in Poway and so glad I did! I love Mediterranean food, and this place does it right. I had a combo plate with chicken tikka kabobs and chicken shawarma with rice and everything was very tasty. Also, the chicken shawarma appeared to be made with white meat chicken breast, which is something not often found. If you're into white meat like me, you'll like it! I have been to SD location a few times and decided to stop by Poway location for lunch. Service was fast and friendly, some outdoor dining seats, inside is quite small. We ordered combo kebabs and chives bolani, food was hot and flavorful. Everything was a bit too greasy including kebabs and bolani, I think SD location has better chef who does not add too much oil and makes crispy bolani. Also, the "green sauce" is too watered down and more liquid than sauce consistency. It would be nice to serve authentic afghan chutney with bolani and also yogurt sauce tastes like sour cream and mayo, don't think it has any yogurt in it. Overall, good food if you are in the area it's worth a visit. read more

We have had this place highly recommended to us on a couple of occasions and decided to try it out. Location is easy enough to find, and there is ample parking. There is a very small dining area out front which is nice enough, especially in the "take everything home or eat in your car" period in which we are currently living. The staff was really nice. The lady behind the counter explained our options really clearly and was patient with us. They have a decent variety of items to choose from, and for some reason also an ice cream counter ala Rite-Aid. Kind of a unique for a fast food establishment but random. The food was merely ok. I would not say it is on the same level as Tahini or Tigris or Sahara, but it was certainly edible. It was served up hot and fresh which is always a nice plus. The rice was a little underseasoned and unfortunately their sauce selection is lacking. Almost every other Middle Eastern food place we eat at has some type of a Garlic sauce however this one had none. This is not a crime by any means, but I think the food would've benefited from that sauce quite a bit. All in all it was an ok lunch, but just not enough to have us come back. I can see why people like it and they certainly have enough options to try a few different meals, but with so many other places out there, it didn't really stand out enough to make us want to come back. Wish them the best, though, and like everything in life, it may suit your tastes and not mine, so why not give it a try? read more
