Freaking incredible. Their artisan pizzas are made with Sourdough crust and then wood-fired. But don't expect plain Jane toppings like pepperoni, these pizzas are one of a kind. Look at their menu and tell me Uve had pizzas like this elsewhere! Oh, and don't forget their salads! I always get the Phoebe's Greek salad. It's a Variation of the Greek salad made with a lemon vinaigrette and feta cheese. It's sooo good! The individual salads are enormous and delightful, the pizza was delicious and crispy. And they offer San Pellegrino, of which I'm an addict lately. But the devil is in the details - they bring a cold plate for your salad, a warm plate for your pizza. Such a great touch. But don't worry, I'm not looking for any help; if anything, I'd like to ask you all not to make me wait for my fix any time I happen to be at this insanely good place. (And for some reason -- the water?! -- the Hudson branch is much better than the one in Great Barrington.) In any event, this is the type of place where you simply can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Full disclosure, however: I've become obsessed with their Melanzane Cardinale (just look at my profile pic): eggplant, Gouda, pesto, oven-roasted tomatoes, Parmesan...Good lord! Oh, and the crust is out of sight; thin and crunchy. Sigh. I've been known on many occasions (read: every time) to order one to eat there and another to bring with me. Oh, and if you're into salads, try the Phoebe's Greek. Absolutely delicious. Suffice it to say that if they ever opened a branch "downstate," they'd be packed, with lines stretching down the street. We were here for dinner on a Friday night. The place was busy. We had to wait about 5-10 minutes to be seated. The staff here are all very friendly & polite. We didn't order the salad but we saw other people ordered it & it's humongous! We got the vegetarian pizza & the half portion of pasta. The portion is definitely generous. The half portion of pasta is definitely good enough for one, even if you are hungry. The vegetarian pizza has goat cheese on it. Everything that we ordered was just delicious! I've been to Baba Louie's twice now and both times I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Both times I've split a small Phoebe's Greek salad - the small size is more than enough for two, tasty greens, roasted peppers, pumpkin seeds, delicious feta, all in a light vinaigrette. I've tried three different pizzas: the Isabella Pizzarella, the Dolce Vita, and the BBQ Chicken. All three were outstanding, but the Isabella was my favorite. A small pizza is almost enough for two with a salad but if you're really hungry, you need to get one just for you. They've got some good beers on tap, a nice little wine by the glass list. read more

Cool atmosphere in a cool little city. Baba Louie's is on the main drag (Warren Street) and has a quaint feel inside. This is probably listed as a pizza place but don't go in expecting a traditional slice. Their wood fired pizzas are of a gourmet variety and most items on menu are a bit eclectic. We had nachos for an app and they were good but not excellent. We had two small pizzas, I had bbq chicken with red onion and bbq sauce. My wife had one with goat cheese and dates. Both were amazing for our individual palates and made of top shelf ingredients. The crust was the star being crisp and tasty. A nice beer offering rounded out the menu. Service was decent and it was just a cool place to enjoy dinner. read more

It's not for me. We got a Take out pizza and live 5 mins away. The crust and bottom of the pizza was just super soggy. I did like the toppings and the flavor was pretty good but the crust was just awful. I'm a pizza snob though so maybe it works for you, I won't order pizza from them again. I eat Domino's a lot so this was basically like someone pouring delicious sauce and cheese covered diamonds down my throat. Wow this food is amazing. I really can't wait to have it again. We got an Abbondante BBQ Chicken Pizza, Cole's Creation, and a Dawn's Delight salad. All incredible. read more

Bring a crowd to Baba Louie's for wood-fired pizza and big salads. You can choose from several combinations but my favorite is pepperoni, red onion and olives. Sometimes it's noisy but that shouldn't bother you. They serve a wonderful ginger beer (and plenty of the other kind). I am told by tablemates that the salads are both plenty big and plenty tasty, if you're not for pizza. Kid-friendly. read more

They added GF a while ago -but now they have their own HOMEMADE GF pizza. It is fabulous. Chef Paul has hit a home run. My pizza was just as fabulous as my husbands. Baba Louies is great for pizza, salad, and soups! The salads are delicious and large enough to feed you for days. I especially like ordering the Phoebe or JJ salads and appreciate that they don't skimp on toppings at all. They really know how to load up a salad! They also have numerous pizza choices- all very delicious from what I've tried, and they even offer a wonderful Gluten Free crust. In addition to a large selection of pizzas and salads, i've enjoyed their hearty vegan soups! The servers are kind and they provide fast service. Great for take-out. Baba Louie's is a Berkshires Institution for a reason. They do only a few things -- soup, salad, pizza, panini -- but they do them excellently. My FIL had the soup of the day, which was a thick delicious potato leek. We ordered a wonderful salad, which we shared between three people (they also have a larger family size one) and then we shared two small pizzas (there were four of us, one of whom said he wasn't eating). We had the dirty brutto, which has really great pesto on it. And I have to say, all the staff I've interacted with in GB or Hudson have all been friendly and helpful. read more

There's no such thing as bad pizza but truthfully we were a little hesitant.. Turns out the pizza is really good! We got a small margherita pie with turkey sausage and mushrooms as toppings. It was very thin. Delicious! Split the JJ's salad with the lemon herb dressing on the side. Delicious x2! Split the smoked turkey- pesto panini. Delicious x3! Absolutely DELICIOUS! One of the BEST pizza I've tasted! Regrettably we only got 1 pizza to go as we were driving back to NYC. We got the Cole's Creation, which had the perfect balance of toppings to crust. The crust had a nice chewy texture (we got the order to go so not sure if it's more crunchy if we had eaten in, but the pizza was so good and flavorful with a nice bite that I did not mind it at all and I usually like my pizza with a crunch.). The toppings were extremely fresh (the tomatoes were so juicy), but the balsamic vinaigrette they used was to die for and was the perfect compliment to the other toppings (especially the red onions and garlic), making every bite a flavor bomb. If you are not a fan of feta cheese, no worries, the pizza is just as delicious without out so don't let the feta cheese deter you from trying it. We can't wait to go back and try more from them and this time we'll definitely get extras to bring back home. read more

I'm familiar with Baba Louies from years ago in Great Barrington. When I found out there was a location in Hudson I had to try it again. It's wonderful to know that no matter the location- the food is the same great taste. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, large. And Dawn's Delight salad. The Melanzana Cardinale pizza was the best pizza I have ever tasted! Fresh mozzarella, eggplant, tomatoes, smoked gouda and pesto, garnished with parmesan and red pepper flakes - all flavours balanced beautifully and prepared to perfection. This is by far the best pizza I've ever had and I don't say that lightly. Brick oven baked thin sourdough crust topped with fresh quality ingredients make a winning combination. Their menu consists mostly of pizza and salad with occasional pasta special. This restaurant is small and cozy. We stopped in with some friends on a Sunday afternoon for dinner and were seated immediately, food came out fairly quickly and service was excellent. Definitely recommend. read more

They usually have good food but my most recent order (a few days ago) was not up to par. The pizza crust was very tough and chewy and the toppings were very skimpy. Heyyyy gluten-free pizza! Hello there, hi, I've missed you. You're so hard to find around here. Not only does Baba Louie's have gluten-free pizza, but they also have a SPELT pizza and a SOURDOUGH pizza (their original). I love weird takes on pizza and this one is pretty strange. I ordered the "Dirty Brutto" which is, basically, a potato pesto pizza. Seems interesting, but also I haven't seen a potato pizza on a menu since I lived in Prague (potato and blue cheese - you guys should try it). Every other option looked good, but I had to try this. The dough was not exactly what I expected, which is either cardboard or perfection with gluten-free pizzas. It was stiff and crunchy, seemed a bit stale if only it were a regular pizza. Of course, it was not stale. In fact, it was bendy and had a really good flavor. I liked it. I will definitely be ordering from here again and try the spelt. Only problem I've had so far - and this is a huge one - the different doughs are a bit extra money. By a bit, I mean a LOT, and too much to leave off the menu*. We were in Hudson for Easter, staying at a lovely Air BnB around the corner from here. When I Googled, "Family restaurants in Hudson," Baba Louie's came up first literally stumbling steps from the house we rented. It's a small place, old, with many of the original historic features. It definitely had a speakeasy feel with the dark wood private booths nestled behind partitions. It was busy, but we were seated within ten minutes. Their claim to fame I guess is their wood-fired sourdough crust pizza, which was delicious. Often I find with wood-fired pizza, one half is burnt, and the other half is okay. This was cooked evenly throughout, crispy crust, doughy center. My husband ordered the pasta special which was equally delicious, linguine with shrimp in a lingering spicy sauce. I don't live in town, but if I go back for another visit, I'll definitely hit Baba Louie's for a second run. read more

Great, healthy options. Many gluten free and vegan alternatives. The pizza was DELICIOUS, and so were their specialty appetizers. Very busy place so get there before 6 or expect a wait; they do not take reservations. The woman assisting at the front (grey hair) was extremely rude to me and my party. She tried to tell us the restaurant was closed when we had put our names down and came back according to their instructions (they said to come back in 20-30 minutes, the party in front of us told us they were told a 10 minute wait and waited over an hour). I had my registered support animal with me when I put my name down and when I came back for my table. She proceeded to ask me "what service he provided for me," which is an inappropriate question. I asked if she wanted ID and she just stared at me giving no response. After all of this back and forth she said we could sit outside which would have been FINE if she said that from the beginning instead of just starting with attitude. My friends and I were extremely taken aback. We then decided to order our pizza to go and when I went in to order it I said it would've been nice if they told us this was the situation when we came to put our names instead of making us go through all of this. There was no sign in front of the restaurant re. service animals and they even had a dog bowl with water by their sign, all extremely misleading. The pizza was excellent, but I cannot get over how terrible that one woman was. Very disappointing because if she hadn't been so unpleasant I would have recommended it.
