Came here on a Friday night. Brought my husband and 12 year old son here. Parking wasn't bad. I parked behind the Metra station. It was busy, but we were promptly seated. Had a very sweet server. Our son ordered a Coke float, which he loved since he had never had one before. Really cute atmosphere, and I loved the history of Lombard. I ordered the Schnitzel BLAT (chicken Schnitzel with bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato) Very fresh and tasty. My husband got a cheese burger and side salad with a balsamic, which he loved. Our son had their adult size, breaded chicken sandwich, which he LOVED. He even said, "This place deserves a Michelin star!" He told our server this too. Went to Babcock's for the first time last week. It is smaller inside than it looks. This probably would be a best during warm weather where you can sit outside. The menu is not bad and the drinks are very good. The drinks are a bit pricey. I do recommend going next door for drinks while you wait for your table. Note the drink menu is not the same in babcocks versus the speakeasy next door so you may have to get up and order your drink next door and bring it with you. I will be back read more

They only serve beer and wine here so you have to get your hard drinks from the place next-door and there is a door between the two so you can get back and forth easily. All the food was delicious. I LOVED everything - the food was delicious, amazing service, and such a cute location! We sat inside but the outdoor patio was open and there was a lot of seating for a small place! Plus, the food came out super fast I couldn't believe it. You could tell everyone was working very hard there, and the owner was very attentive to all the customers. I had the bbq burger which was very good! The tobacco Mayo was a tad spicy but gave the burger a great flavor. The toppings were fresh and the burger itself was pretty big. I was blown away by Babcock's. I have high expectations but everything we had was spectacular. The slider burgers were a perfect proportion of bun, meat and cheese with a nice smash burger edge. This place is STILL AWESOME! Very tough times now for all restaurants with the pandemic. Babcock's has quite a few outside tables open and the street is blocked off for extra seating. We've done carry out many times and it's always great but then you don't get to talk to the owners who are always roaming around to make sure you're happy. Isn't that a nice touch these days! Food is still great and they package it well for takeout. Everyone is wearing masks and they seem to give extra attention to cleaning. Kid friendly but there's always good beer on tap for the adults. Holy moly!! I came here recently. It was my first time eating at Babcock's, and I had heard good things. I was not disappointed! It's a small place, and we went on a cold night - might want to avoid the table near the door (we did). The server was very friendly and very helpful. She told us all about what she liked on the menu and what other people liked. We started with an appetizer of cheese curds. They were light and airy, very good. Then I had the blue cheese sriracha meatloaf and my companion had the buttermilk chicken sandwich. They were both delicious. But the real magic of this place was the pies. Wow! We had two pieces. One was a traditional key lime pie with graham cracker crust. It was spectacular. The other was a gluten-free flourless chocolate, cherry and almond pie that was really too delicious to even fathom. One of the ten or twelve best foods I've ever tasted. I was shocked at how good the food was at this place, because it looks like a nice little restaurant, but nothing spectacular. Our party of 3 rated the food as follows: 1. Bacon 'Beer-Cheese' Burger on a pretzel roll. This was my choice for dinner. It was very, very good. I noticed I was not asked how I wanted it cooked. It was cooked through but still juicy. I chose the mixed greens salad with balsamic vinegar dressing instead of French fries. 2. Chicken Schnitzel sandwich - My sister said her sandwich was dry. Fries were plentiful and good. 3. Chicken Apple Brie sandwich on sour dough bread - My other sister's choice. She said it was really good. I did not order my usual Diet Coke because I noticed that it came in cans, rather than as a refillable soda drink. I was really excited to try this place after all the recommendations I've seen for it. I met a friend here for lunch on a Tuesday. It was surprisingly busy! We were able to snag a small table. While they have a wait staff, they only bring out the food. Getting menus, silverware and ordering is all on you. I don't know if that's due to staffing issues or what? I ordered their beer cheese bacon burger and fries. I didn't love it to be honest. The burger wAs smashed thin and had broken a part, making it hard to pick up and eat. The bacon wasn't super crispy. The beer cheese just wasn't my thing. I had to eat it with a fork and knife since it was kind of a sloppy mess. The fries though were salty, crispy and plentiful! My friend had a chicken apple sandwich and soup and loved hers! I would be willing to come back and try something else, and definitely want to try the pie! read more

I just don't like this place because they have very limited options outside of beef burgers. If you are a vegetarian or vegan I do not recommend. I love this place, and their patio is beautiful with a lot of shady spots for summer lunch or dinner. With that being said, there were some major technical issues today, something about the ticket machine going down. Unfortunately, our server was also missing in action for quite a while, presumably helping to sort out whatever mess was created from their ordering system going down. It would have been nice to have someone check in about drinks or update us on what was happening with our food, as we were on a bit of a time crunch. With that being said, I am still giving them 5 stars, because I have eaten there many times without issue pre pandemic. I know businesses are making a lot of changes and trying to adapt. They did comp us the cheese curds for the wait time, and sped things up once I informed them we had to leave soon. Perhaps avoid Fridays and weekends if you're on a tighter schedule? If you're looking for Wolfman Jack you might get lucky in Lombard. We parked a couple of blocks north on a residential street and walked to the fun corner location. Anyway, I turned to Yelp to find something good and different for dinner. Babcock's hit the spot: great location, fun ambiance, awesome staff, nice menu, fast service, and excellent food. The big negatives, it's small inside and very loud. And when I say loud, I mean introverts will be running from this place after 45 minutes looking for a hole to crawl into for hibernation. If you have trouble with steps, ir are wearing a short skirt, be forewarned that there are tall steps into the restautant I loved the Pollyanna raspberry beer, but wasn't particularly wowed by the extremly salty curds, or that they came with honey mustard dressing. I also wasn't wowed by the pulled pork pie (which is sort of like a shepherd's pie, with pulled pork at the bottom, undercooked veggies and mashed potatoes on top, covered in a thick layer of melted cheddar in a skillet. I thought it would be better than it was. My husband, on the other hand, thought the blue cheese burger and fresh cut fries were great! Such a great experience. Even though I'm not a fan of outdoor dining, we wanted to support a small business while following COVID precautions. My boyfriend and I called up Babcock's to see if they had any available seats for outdoor dining. They informed us they did and due to the weather (30 degrees out) we were the only ones interested but they would be happy to get the table ready for us. The staff was absolutely amazing. They made sure the heaters were on, that our food was out immediately and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. The food was fantastic, I even brought some leftovers home and my family enjoyed all of it. The pie....... AMAZING. The only complaint I would have is that I got too full to enjoy more food and pie. read more
