Nice beverage list, thoughtful menu with a lot of very healthy, delicious options for mains and salads. The beet salad is a must-have if you're a fan of the oft-maligned root vegetable. After playing Golf and Shopping at the Naval Base, we stopped by NIGHT HAWK, at first we tried to go without a reservation and we were told by the lady at the front that we were going to be number 21 on the waiting List and I told my husband that I was just on OPEN TABLE RESERVATION and saw that in 15 minutes there's an available seat for us, so I told my husband to back up and do the reservation right away on Open Table. He went back to the lady at the front desk with his phone on the Open table reservation and we got in within 15 minutes. We were seated near their back Bar area. They have 2 bars, the one in the very back is beautiful. Our server was quick to give us the Menu and I was quick to order our food. Here are the foods I ordered for me, my husband, and my son. *SOUVLAKI PLATTER *LAMB MEAT BALL SPAGHETTI *PORK TENDERLOIN *BABAGHANOUSH *MONEY TREE MOCKTAIL *TROPHY WIFE COCKTAIL *BAKLAVA SUNDAE I was impressed with how fast all of our food came out, but I got so dissapointed with the LAMB MEATBALL SPAGHETTI, it came after 1 HOUR !!! I thought the Spaghetti would be the first one to be done compared to all of the other Meats we ordered. The SOUVLAKI PLATTER has GRILLED CHICKEN , SHRIMPS ,VEGIES ,TENDERLOIN , PITA BREAD ..., but I noticed that the 2 Shrimp skewer sticks that came with our platter was missing a SHRIMP on it, there's 3 on the first stick and 2 on the second stick, and you could obviously see a shrimp was missing since there was an Empty spot in the middle of the 2 shrimps in one of my Souvlaki pic . I called our server and told them about it and when she said no worries I will replace the one shrimp that was missing I thought that she would just give me another stick of Shrimps, but to my surprise she apologized and said that there was no more shrimp in the kitchen and that she replaced it with a whole plate of SALMON if thats okay with us, oh well that's fine with me :) The Souvlaki platter meats some are tender and some are not , but very very light on seasoning, but still good. The Pork tenderloin was a bit burnt, their Babaghanous was delicious. When the LAMB MEATBALLS SPAGHETTI came after 1 HOUR , it looked small in portion, but it was surprisingly a heavy plate to eat, maybe because the Meatballs were big and filled me up good, but the spaghetti alone is also good. Funny thing is that we had to call our server 'coz the person who delivered my Spaghetti gave me a HUGE SPOON ;) like those you use as a serving spoon for big bowls of Pasta ;) The Salmon we got as a replacement for our missing 1 piece of shrimp was good and moist, so happy that it was not dry. My son and i got the MOCKTAIL and COCKTAIL and they were both good. My husband just had water, he was complaining that the glasses they use for water is very small . We shared the BAKLAVA SUNDAE and this one so good, i like it coz its not overly sweet . This is my second attempt to fulfill a reservation at this newest installment of CH. It did not disappoint with ambiance which clearly can be seen from the faux plants on the ceiling, to the cascading overflowing waterfalls, to the mirrored glass bathrooms, to the details on the plate settings and silverware. We thought how nice it could be to join for brunch! The items on the menu seemed quite appetizing and the pricing was very reasonable for brunch! I know that this restaurant is new. However, CH Is NOT new to the restaurant and service industry. We got 4 items in our party of 4. The breakfast sandwich came on a large plate that looked as though it was still needed to be plated. The 24 hour soaked French Toast barely was dipped into a batter which was left dry and with no mascarpone. Even after mentioning to the server, it was not fixed. The hotcake which was a full size beautifully decorated "pancake" needed syrup as it was dry. I had asked twice for syrup and nothing came out. For the eggs in purgatory, it was 2 cooked eggs swimming in a skillet with a small pita bread and a beautifully cooked garlic head. It did not come with a spoon or enough bread to soak up the San Marzano tomatoes and its accompaniments. For breakfast- no bacon, no sausage- not many protein options.... hmm? The water glasses were very tiny and often they needed to replace. Why not leave a carafe at the table? I was toying with the idea of drinks but they needed the menu for someone else.... I hope to return one day and hope by then all the kinks are worked out. It was not pleasing to hear that they needed to work on things... if that's the case, open the restaurant when things are all figured out and do not tell your customers that this is your excuse for poor service and management. I came all that way and my friends paid for valet and was left feeling hungry and disappointed. They did take one thing off the bill with no apologies. Bathrooms are interesting, very stunning and unique as well, but the handwashing area is communal. That took me a minute to find. There seems to be valet parking available, but for the most part you're left to find street parking. They offer reservations online to avoid the long wait, which I recommend. I would not say it's family friendly. I did not see any seat boosters or room for strollers, this is more of an intimate dining kind of experience, I believe max of 4 people comfortably. My husband and I were briefly in town and wanted to take my mom to this restaurant. The restaurant was getting good buzz on social media and decided to make a reservation. We set the reservation for a Saturday at 3:00pm. Unfortunately, we were not seated until 3:40pm. The hostess sat us with brunch menus instead of their main menu. Our server corrected that and offered us an appetizer on the house. Food was delicious. For the amount of money, I would say the portions are a bit small, but overall presentation was great. The drinks are divine. Their drinks are unique and worth splurging on when looking at the drink menu When it came around the time to pay, our server gave us the wrong check. We ended up paying someone else's tab AND then had to pay our tab. It wasn't until maybe 45min later, after we had left the restaurant did they call us to let us know they voided the first charge. For a great looking place, and great food, it's unfortunate that the service wasn't on par. After reading the other reviews, it seems to be their only issue. After seeing so many gorgeous Instagram photos, videos, ads on LA websites, YouTube, and Facebook, this place looked way too stunning to pass up as it was so beautifully designed and well thought out! Then I started seeing a wave of 1 and 2 star reviews pop up, all within a span of a few days to a few weeks. That definitely made me pause. There were 4 of us in our party, and honestly, I showed up with very low expectations, wondering if I should even bother going. But the moment I arrived, everything had changed. I was running a little late because parking was a literal nightmare, and I'm not the biggest fan of valet. Those in my party had already been waiting, and while I secretly wished they had started ordering appetizers and drinks, they kindly waited for me, but being famished I really hoped they ordered something. From the second I was seated, our server greeted us with such a warm, welcoming attitude, and the experience only got better from there. The decor, the music, the staff, the energy and everything about this place just kept getting better and better, especially as the sun slowly started going down. The whole atmosphere felt alive, stylish, and fun. Multiple staff members checked on us throughout the meal, the food came out at a great pace, and the flavors were absolutely on point. Everything was delectable, and the presentation was beautiful, almost like little pieces of art with all the colors coming together. We ordered quite a bit, as you can probably see from the photos, and loved so many things: the appetizer sampler, the salads, the kebabs, and especially the unique desserts. Each dish had its own personality, and the whole meal felt exciting from start to finish. There is such a fun, vibrant energy throughout this restaurant and hotel, and San Diego definitely needs more places like this. The Lafayette really set the bar high, and CH Projects, AKA Consortium Holdings, clearly knows how to create unforgettable spaces. Sitting on the rock booth is a bit uncomfortable after a while, I mean it's a literal rock you have your back on! Pretty cool, pretty uncomfortable. I love how the plants separate and give privacy to different sections. Definitely a place you want to come back multiple times to sit in and experience different places. Our server was Jackie, was so sweet and welcoming it. Knowledgeable about the menu items & kept checking in with us! It was a busy evening, so busy that they accidentally gave our entrees to the wrong table. Jackie was super honest and helpful in making it right. She put in the order again and gave us some apps on the house. We also celebrated a birthday and she hooked us up with 2 birthday treats. The mezze collection was very good, probably the fav of the night; the pita was so good. We also had the Greek salad, which surprisingly comes chipped but still good flavor. We each shared kebabs. Most of the table agreed they could have used more seasoning/salt but overall good and rated fairly considering it was busy and they made our order quicker because they messed up. A new CH hotel and restaurant that is absolutely stunning. Bar service and staff overall were very nice. It says "Greek" food but it is more Mediterranean (I'm Greek so I know the difference lol). We got the Spanakopita bread, it was good but could have used a little more flavor. We also got the Saganaki and it is not made traditionally. I'd pass on this- they make it with panko bread crumbs and i dont know what kind of cheese they use but it was not very good. We also got the Farro salad (amazing) and the chicken skewers, also very good. Would definitely go back and try other options that they have. Def give this place a try! This is probably my least favorite of the CH portfolio, and not for the reasons you may think. I understand they were newly open, so I managed my expectations, and honestly the service was good. We were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation time, an easy wait while grabbing cocktails at the bar up front. The zaatar pommes frites were the standout for me, and I appreciated seeing orange wine on the menu. My issue is more conceptual. I don't get the sense that Night Hawk really knows what it is yet. The ambiance is beautiful, no question, but it feels disjointed in a way their sister property the Lafayette doesn't. Stone sculptures with fire, insect imagery, sea shells, coral toned uniforms... it's a lot of aesthetic directions pulling against each other for a restaurant called Night Hawk. I kept trying to find the story, and it just wasn't very apparent to me. Value was also a miss. We actually paid less per person at Leila and left feeling more satisfied with what we got. Hoping they find their footing, the bones are there. But I probably wouldn't recommend it out of the other CH concepts even after the new-open hype settles. read more

Brought my wife and son here , we had like 6 plates of food total delivered to our table for the 3 of us, but I'm only gonna talk about a few and leave the rest of uploading our food photos and more writing details to my wife on her review. My wife's pasta with Lamb meatballs came after 1 hour but she said her Pasta with Lamb meatballs was good . The glass they use for water is very small and with a small glass they use for water they refill it only Half way , thats the first thing my son notices every time he asks for a water refill that the water was being filled halfway only in the very small glass they provided. My wife ordered a lot of meat, and to help chow down all those meats they need a bigger glass of water. Our server noticed that coz she kept coming back refilling our water, so at the middle of our dinner she just gave me and my son a bigger glass that they used for their liquor and used that for the water. My wife had 2 cocktails and she said the drinks were good. We came with very nice weather, very cloudy but after the Sun came out strong and bright and we saw a few tables without a shade or umbrellas that they are getting bothered by the Sun and heat. They need to put more umbrellas coz when summer comes, that's gonna be so hot dining in there if you don't have a table with an umbrella , so choose to be where they have the Big awning shade which is in the middle of their restaurant. We tried Nighthawk in Coronado after seeing all the Instagram buzz. The vibe is definitely trendy with a noticeable "who's who" crowd, and the space itself has a cool atmosphere. Even with a reservation, we still waited about 30 minutes to be seated. The seating had a unique stone-style design that looked interesting, but wasn't the most comfortable. The food itself tasted good, but the portions were surprisingly small for the price. The drinks were inconsistent too. One drink was honestly undrinkable, while another was only available as a double. Our server was friendly, but the staff overall seemed overwhelmed and things felt a little chaotic. The restroom situation was also inconsistent, with one being clean and another not maintained very well. Overall, we left still hungry and feeling like the experience didn't quite match the hype or pricing. My fiancé & I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The hotel & restaurant are very new I think it's only been open about a little over a week. We did not have reservations and were lucky enough someone canceled so we were able to dine at Night Hawk & I am so glad! Let me start off by saying I am seeing a lot of mixed reviews so this is solely based off our experience, service was 10/10! Our waiter was so nice, attentive & friendly despite everything going on with the high volume. We ordered the pita bread appetizer & hands down this is the best pita bread and hummus I have ever had in my life... Our main course was just "ok" I ordered the pasta and my fiancé ordered the chicken. I've had better pasta he's had better chicken. The drinks we so good! Absolutely delicious... Now the ambiance of this place can't be missed, there is a photo worthy corner in every spec of this establishment. They really made the space they had to work with WORK!!! This is definitely a place you go to for the atmosphere. It was absolutely beautiful and the goal was achieved of feeling transported to a hidden oasis. Our reservation was at 8pm, we were told it would be a bit of a wait due to being short staffed, so they offered us to head to the small bar near the "pool" for a drink and they would text us when our table was ready (when you visit you will understand why pool is in quotes lol). Thankfully we were able to snag a spot at the bar and the drinks there were tasty along with awesome hard working bartenders. At 8:45pm I got the text that our table was ready. I checked in and she told us they were just setting a table. We ended up not being seated until 9:05pm. A very long wait considering we had reservations. She offered to comp a cocktail for each of us and apologized (without me even saying anything) so that was very appreciated. Once we were sat service actually moved very quickly. Our server Emmalee was awesome! We ordered the fries, crudo, and kofta croquettes as appetizers. We did not like the crudo at all and when Emmalee asks us how everything was tasting we were honest about it do she removed it from our bill. The other two apps we enjoyed. We ordered the shrimp and the chicken kababs. Both were cooked perfectly, the chicken was very tender. The flavors were great but there was A LOT of salt. You could see that a flaky salt was sprinkled on top of everything following whatever seasonings were used in the cooking process so it was a bit much. I was hoping the fresh veggies on the side would cut the salt but those got hit with the flaky salt too. The "pita" bread was tasty, but definitely not a traditional pita, it was thick. Drinks were great. I ordered the spanakopita punch which I loveddddd. It was very unique. My boyfriend had the after everything cocktail and he enjoyed it. Our group came in on a Monday at our reservation time at 6:30 PM and waited maybe 15 minutes and the ambiance at golden hour is amazing! I would recommend coming around sunset time to watch the hotel transition to the night time vibe. The design of the Baby Grand Hotel and the Night Hawk restaurant is amazing! They really set the tone and vibe for the moody dinner. The food: Mediterranean family style. The edamame fattoush salad? Amazing. Give me 10 of them right now. Baba ghanoush is a great addition to add to the skewers & pita. Bucatini, chicken & beef skewer for mains. The skewers were good when you put it in the pita with the sauces, veggies and baba ghanoush and make a lil pita pocket. But the meat alone was a bit dry and bland. We didn't get seated until around 15 minutes after our reservation, but that was totally fine because we explored the outdoor space to take pictures. Menu is Greek / Mediterranean, sort of similar to Leila for those who have been to one of consortium holdings' other spots. Cocktails: secondhand paradise is a must. Junglebird was popular but just okay in my opinion. Spanakopita punch and house guest are two dill forward, slightly savory and briney cocktails. They tasted pretty similar to us. Money trees is also a popular and tasty cocktail that id order again! The mocktails are also delish. Meal: For a group of four, we split the baba dip, kofta, fries, fattoush, bucatini, two kebabs and a dessert. It was plenty of food to share across all of us. Came here for our anniversary and honestly this felt a little risky considering Night Hawk is still brand new with barely any reviews, but overall we had a good experience with a few mixed feelings. Located inside the new Baby Grand Hotel in Coronado, the ambiance here is BEAUTIFUL. The outdoor vibe feels like a tropical lounge with hanging greenery, fireplaces, warm lighting, and a waterfall nearby. Between the bar crowd, music, and overall energy, it definitely feels like a perfect date night spot. We came a little early and grabbed drinks before dinner. I had seen reviews about long waits for reservations, but thankfully we got seated right on time. The hostess was a little cold toward us at first, but our server completely turned the night around. He congratulated us on our anniversary, explained the menu in detail, and honestly gave some of the best service we had all night. Unfortunately they were out of two items we were hoping to try. Our server explained it because they are just opening up and trying to figure out their kinks. Understandable. We ordered the tzatziki, za'atar pommes frites, the Secondhand Paradise cocktail, and the 14-day dry-aged tomahawk cooked medium rare. The tzatziki was fine. Fresh, cooling, very yogurt-and-dill heavy, but nothing memorable. My issue was paying $13 for a giant bowl of tzatziki and ONE piece of pita bread. Like okay. The fries were definitely better. Crispy, flavorful, and the sauce they came with was honestly so good I would drink it respectfully. For drinks, I originally wanted the Jungle Bird cocktail, but they were out of ingredients so our server recommended the Secondhand Paradise instead. Made with rum, cognac, strawberry, carrot, almond, and lime, it somehow worked really well together. Balanced, unique, and STRONG. Heavy pours here for sure. Then the tomahawk came out and visually it looked amazing. Perfect medium rare with a crazy good crust and strong wood fire flavor. The harissa tahini and zhoug sauces paired really well with it too. But for $190... I can't lie, I expected a little more. Not even necessarily more food, just more of an experience. It's basically a beautifully cooked steak sliced up with three small sauce bowls and that's it. No sides included, no tableside moment, nothing that made me feel like "okay yes this was worth almost $200." Even our server mentioned the food runners were supposed to explain the sauces, but the girl literally dropped the steak off and disappeared into the night. You can also see an uneven cook throughout the tomahawk. I don't regret coming here. The ambiance is honestly stunning and probably the biggest reason to visit. Night Hawk was, for lack of a better word, a weird experience. Not necessarily bad, just... strange. First, the positives. We loved that they offer valet because parking in that area is incredibly difficult. Valet was $18 and honestly worth it. When you walk in, there's a front bar where you can grab a drink while waiting to be seated. The atmosphere is definitely eclectic and unique. That said, the setup was confusing. There are multiple bars with different drink menus, which sounds cool in theory, but if you order at the front bar, your server at the table may have no idea what drink you ordered because they only know the menu from the back bar. It made for a disjointed experience. The breakfast menu was honestly disappointing. Very few protein options, which made it difficult to find something substantial to eat. We arrived around 11:45 and asked for the lunch menu, only to be told lunch doesn't start until 3 PM. Who eats lunch at 3 PM? At that point it feels more like dinner service. The seating situation was also rough. The tables are very small and appear to be made of rock or concrete, permanently cemented into place. They might comfortably seat four, but not much more than that. If you're a larger person, squeezing in could be very uncomfortable or straight up impossible! We were initially seated directly in the sun and asked for an umbrella. Although most umbrellas seemed reserved for larger tables, they were kind enough to move us to another table with shade, which we genuinely appreciated. I also felt bad for the servers. They were wearing oversized suit jackets and pants in warm weather and visibly sweating while serving food. It honestly looked miserable and wasn't the most appetizing thing to watch. In a beach town, lighter summer uniforms would make so much more sense! Now for the food because this was the saving grace. The appetizers were fantastic. The tzatziki with pita was fresh and flavorful without being overloaded with mint like so many places do. The cauliflower bites were delicious and perfectly cooked. The frites were good, though nothing particularly memorable. Because I struggled to find something appealing on the breakfast menu, I ordered the Greek yogurt, which was beautifully presented inside half of a cantaloupe with fresh berries and granola. Everyone else thought their meals were okay, but nothing standout. One challenge was the oversized plates on tiny tables. Between appetizers, drinks, and entrées, we barely had room. The drink menu was also a bit bizarre. One cocktail was actually really good, and they even gave us a sample, but then told us they had run out of it when we tried to order. Super disappointing. However, we were celebrating 3 birthdays and they brought out these cute personalized drinks for the birthday ladies so that was a very nice touch and the drink was yummy! The overall vibe just wasn't for me. Menus with pictures of bugs? Not exactly appetizing. The atmosphere felt odd and hard to understand. My boyfriend and I drove down to visit this place from Irvine, OC. We left at 2PM and didn't get there till 5PM due to accidents and traffic on the way. I tried calling multiple times but got no one to answer my calls. However, once I used the messaging on Open Table, they were nice enough to extend our reservation to 5PM. I told them that I was sorry for the inconvenience and it was our celebration for the beginning or summer, as we are both teachers. Mind you, it was a Thursday not a weekend. After they sat us, we got complimentary champagnes to ease our stress and celebrate the summer. The hostess told our server. They were so nice! Such amazing services! The food was good. We had so much fun here! Thankfully, we went on a Friday around 2:30 PM, so we were able to be seated rather quickly, but I can tell this place could get crowded during peak hours for sure. I was so excited to visit Night Hawk with my girlfriends. As one of the newest hotspots in Coronado, we couldn't resist after seeing how stunning the restaurant looked online. To say they're absolutely crushing it in the atmosphere department would be an understatement. The space is gorgeous, the music is great, and you really feel transported when you're there. Unfortunately, the service fell far short of the experience we expected. Right from the start, the host who checked us in seemed to have an attitude and gave the impression that she absolutely hated her job. We had a 9:00 PM reservation and were told they were running slightly behind and that we'd receive a text when our table was ready. We ended up waiting 45 minutes to be seated, which is by far the longest I've ever waited despite having a reservation. Once we were finally seated, it quickly became clear why. It took about 15 minutes before anyone greeted our table, another 10 minutes just to receive water, and nearly 30 more minutes before we were able to place our order. We were never given a cocktail menu and had to look it up online ourselves. Thankfully, once our order was in, the food arrived fairly quickly. The food itself was enjoyable, but a bit overpriced for what it was. Everything was good, but you're definitely paying for the ambiance and aesthetics more than the cuisine. What really stood out was how inattentive the service felt throughout the night. Not once did anyone clear empty plates or glasses, leaving our table cluttered. Our server repeatedly told us she would come back to clear things, refill our water, or check on us, but those promises never materialized. Instead, she'd disappear for 20-30 minutes and then return asking the exact same questions again. Despite having a 9:00 PM reservation, we didn't leave until almost 11:45 PM. It took nearly 30 minutes just to receive the check and pay, and another 15 minutes waiting for a box for our leftovers. We almost left without them because, by that point, it was nearly midnight and simply wasn't worth waiting any longer. I understand that Night Hawk is brand new and that Friday nights are busy, so I'm willing to give them some grace. But I've honestly never felt this neglected at a restaurant before. That said, the atmosphere is undeniably beautiful and the space is fabulous for photos. Parking can be challenging, so I recommend using the hotel's valet or trying your luck with street parking. I'd definitely like to come back once the initial hype dies down to see if service improves, because the vibe and design alone make this place worth experiencing. Hopefully, with some time, the service will catch up to how incredible the restaurant looks. read more

Hottest new spot in San Diego, absolutely stunning. The moment you walk in you are transferred into a another world or an era. Every detail was meticulously designed, with so much attention into it. We had a reservation for Sunday and it was super busy. As for food we started with tzatziki, French fries and Greek salad, and everything was sooo delicious. For entree we've had grilled shrimp skewers. tenderloin skewers and lamb meatball pasta. No room for desert but hopefully next time. This is definitely a hip, happening place. It was very busy on a Saturday afternoon. There were four of us, including me. We walked around and managed to find seats in the rear bar. Both the bar and bathrooms are exquisite, and the rest of the outside space feels like you're in Europe on the coast. Next time I would definitely make a reservation. I didn't have any food but all four of us got different drinks. I was pretty bummed they were out of the first three drinks I asked for, including both rum cocktails. My husband and I visited yesterday for an early dinner. And we had an incredible experience. I'm not sure why so many people have so much to say. Obviously any new place will have long wait times until everything adjusts but that doesn't take away from the amazing service the beautiful scenery and the food. Came here second week after the grand opening. It was a gorgeous day in Coronado and was able to have some lunch here. First of all, the place looks amazing. I love all the decor that CH has with all their restaurants and hotels. If you've been to La Fayette, this gives the same kind of vibes. We had reservations and like the other reviews, we still had to wait about 20 mins. But really didn't bother us since we weren't in a hurry to get anywhere else. After about 5 -7 minutes, We decided to head to the bar and get a cocktail while we waited. We also took that time to look around and take pictures. Our server was super friendly, however, took some time for her to come and take our order. Water came out immediately. We ordered the Mezze platter, scallop crudo, lobster with squid ink pasta and calamari. They were all actually delicious. Spectacular? No. But it was good. We ordered the popcorn cauliflower, but that never came. We asked about it and still never came. So we had to cancel it. Overall, if you come for the vibes, you will definitely enjoy it. Is the food pricey? Yes! But it's in Coronado and meant to attract tourists. If you know that coming in, just get a cocktail, enjoy the view and eat somewhere else. I gave 3 stars because service was slow, wait time to get seated and we didn't get one of our orders. I plan to return and hopefully they work out all the kinks by then. read more

It took 30 minutes just to get a drink in, but I totally understand since it was very busy restaurant the only busy restaurant in Coronado.. it turns out that there's two bars a big bar in a small bar. A small bar is right when you get in to the right of the hostess the big bars towards the back by the back very important the big bar you could eat and drink in a small bar is limited drinks service so far is outstanding Rachel Asia and Peter . Such a cool new spot in the heart of Coronado! It's all outdoor seating and has a Tulum vibe which makes it very fun. The food is Greek style so it's light, refreshing and packed with flavor. A few notables from my trip: we waited a little while for our reservation, but it's a good excuse to check out one of their bars for a drink while you wait. I saw reviews that some people waited 45 minutes, I only waited about 15. the Grand Souvlaki Platter takes a while, so definitely order an appetizer. It took about 45 minutes, but it was so good it made the wait worth it. it is all outdoor seating, so a hot day may have you in the sun and sweating. If you can wait for an evening reservation (maybe 8pm or later) that might be the move. Now for the food & drinks, we each got a glass of Greek wine (they have a great selection), I enjoyed the rosé on a warm afternoon. We started with the fried octopus and just wow, the bean spread was so good and it was cooked perfectly. For our main we split the Grand Souvlaki Platter, it's plenty for two people and comes with two skewers of tenderloin, shrimp, chicken and vegetables. The fresh wood fire pita bread that it comes with is so soft and delicious, I had to keep myself from eating all of it. The dishes had great flavor and what we ordered kept it light but filling, perfect on a warm afternoon. We checked it out for our weekly date night and we were not disappointed! If you're patient and willing to wait for your table and food, this spot is highly worth it. We had reservations and there were several open tables but we waited about half an hour to be seated- the hostess lost our ticket and had trouble figuring out how to reprint a new one just to seat us, so several groups that arrived after us were seated before us. Once we were seated our server was very nice but warned us that things were running a little slow, so we ordered our drinks and those also took about another 30 minutes to come out. First time coming to Night Hawk and the entire experience was incredible. We made reservations about 3 weeks in advance to celebrate our anniversary. Getting to the restaurant, they offer valet parking which was affordable, $18, and extremely convenient. Valet was super helpful and nice. We then arrived and the hostess did let us know they were running a bit behind but we found seats at the bar and decided to grab a drink. The drink we ordered was the House Guest cocktail. This drink was so tasteful and delicious. Strong too! The bartender was kind enough to ask us if we were celebrating anything and we did let her know we were celebrating our anniversary. She offered us champagne, which was so kind of her. She even offered to take our picture for us. Extremely sweet lady. When our table was ready it was a bit later than our reservation but we didn't mind at all. We were seated by the waterfall for our special occasion. As soon as we were seated and got settled our waitress Emily came by and introduced herself. She was so sweet and congratulated us. After ordering our food Emily offered to take our picture with the beautiful waterfall background. They also brought us mini espresso martini drinks with celebratory stamps for our anniversary. Once our food came out, everything was sooooo yummy! We ordered the beef kebabs, bucatini pasta, and the calamari. The food came out right away and it was delicious. 10/10. "Don't walk, RUN." That was the advice from the table next to us as they were finishing their meal. They had asked for jalapeños or serranos just to give the food some flavor. My girlfriend and I arrived at 5:25 p.m. for our 5:30 reservation and, after being seated and ordering, waited nearly 45 minutes for what was supposed to be a beet and goat cheese salad to start. During that time, we conversed, enjoyed each other's company, and took in the nice ambiance, but the service was unbelievably bad. By 6:15 p.m., after still not receiving our food, never having our water glasses refilled, and receiving no meaningful status update from our waiter, we looked at each other, informed the front managers we were leaving, and walked out. The atmosphere may be nice, but the service was horrific and the food seemed underwhelming at best. Server was solid. I had the two sampler platters for both the appetizer and for the meal. There was enough food for 4 between the platters. My chicken was slightly undercooked, but the steak and shrimp were perfect. Best thing was the thick "pita" like bread. Gave us a ton of olives...like an entire jar of them. Plenty of food to feed 4 but very light on the protein. $265.00 check for the three drinks and the sampler platters. Liked the Fred Flintstone bench seating. They made us wait 30 minutes for our table for a 5:30 reservation. $36.00 for a straight on the rocks cheap Bourbon. Service: My coworker and I came here for lunch on a Thursday and made an 11:45am reservation through OpenTable. We arrived a few minutes early and checked in, but another guest who arrived after us for a 12pm reservation was seated immediately while we waited about 10 minutes past our reservation time. There were several open tables, so I was a little confused by the delay. Once seated, however, our server Christian was amazing attentive, friendly, and checked on us often throughout the meal. Ambience: The ambience completely stole the show. Night Hawk inside the Grand Bay Hotel is absolutely breathtaking. The design, atmosphere, and overall vibe make this place feel elevated and special like you are in a topical place. Definitely somewhere everyone should experience at least once. Food: The food was good overall, but the ambience was the true highlight. The $17 cocktail was refreshing and delicious exactly what you'd expect at that price point. We shared the watermelon and goat cheese, fries, Spanish bread, and the shrimp and beef skewers. The watermelon salad was fresh and flavorful, and the Spanish bread was really good with the wood-fired oven flavor. The beef skewers were just okay compared to the rest of the meal. Now don't get me wrong, Night Hawk is absolutely stunning from the moment you walk through those doors, but honey, Miss Sabrina took our girls' night from great to unforgettable. First things first, Night Hawk has been sitting on my San Diego bucket list since the day I got here. I heard all the buzz about the grand opening, and before I deploy out, I knew I had to see what all the fuss was about. Well let me tell you something, the fuss was justified! Night Hawk is THE moment. The place to be. The atmosphere? Gorgeous. The music? Vibing. The food? Delicious. The people? Beautiful energy all around. Every corner of this place feels intentional and stylish. From the gorgeous bar area to the beautiful pool, to even the bathrooms. Which yes, deserve a mention because they are THAT nice. Everything was perfection. Even the fire flames! And can we talk about the staff? Baby, they came to WORK. Everyone was attentive, professional, and looking fabulous in those pink and mauve velvet uniforms. It felt like hospitality mixed with Hollywood glamour. One thing that truly impressed our table was how seriously they took food allergies. One person in our group has dietary restrictions, and every single time a dish arrived, the staff made sure everyone knew there were absolutely no peaches involved. That level of attention and care means everything when you're dining out, and it made us feel safe and valued. Now back to my girl, Miss Sabrina. Honey, Sabrina was serving customer service, personality, and excellence all at the same time. She gave fantastic recommendations, checked on us at just the right moments, and somehow made us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant. That's a gift. And then she went above and beyond in a way that absolutely melted my heart. I am a fan of The Love Boat, and when she noticed how much I loved the adorable little Love Boat paper table mat, she made sure I got one to take home. It may seem like a small gesture, but it's those thoughtful little moments that people remember. She didn't have to do that, but she did, and that's exactly what separates good service from exceptional service. As a little country girl from the South, California continues to surprise me with hidden gems, and Night Hawk is definitely one of them. The food was fantastic, the ambiance was immaculate, the service was top-tier, and the memories we made tonight will stay with me long after I leave San Diego. Booked a table here through OpenTable for my birthday brunch. We arrived right at 10 AM, and despite there only being a few people there, it still took about 10 minutes for anyone to seat us. They were also still drilling tables and setting things up, so the restaurant definitely did not feel fully prepared yet. Although they advertise brunch, there actually wasn't a brunch menu available, so we ended up ordering from the dinner menu. They were also out of several items including the chicken and shrimp skewers, watermelon salad, and a few other dishes. On top of that, they were out of three cocktails. The kofta croquettes were also labeled as lamb, but they were actually beef. For a higher-end restaurant during its grand opening weekend, I honestly expected things to be a little more organized. A soft opening probably would've helped work out a lot of these issues beforehand. What we ordered: * Tzatziki: Served with two large, warm pita breads. Delicious and a great way to start the meal. * Kofta Croquettes: These were actually beef, not lamb as advertised. There were four of them, and the dipping sauce was nice, but overall they lacked flavor. * Beet and Goat Cheese Salad: Light, refreshing, and probably my favorite food item we tried. I think there may have been persimmons in it alongside the beets, and whatever the fruit was, it worked really well. * Beef Tenderloin Skewers: Tasty overall, though slightly overcooked. * Bucatini: Light with a nice flavor, but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the food was just mediocre. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. The drinks, however, completely stole the show. I would honestly come back just for the cocktails. * Jungle Bird: Absolutely incredible. One of the best drinks we tried. Light, refreshing, unique, and hard to describe in the best way possible. * Spanakopita Punch: Easily the best cocktail of the night. You could really taste the dill, and it was smooth, unique, and extremely well-balanced. * House Guest: Good tequila cocktail, but nowhere near as memorable as the other two. They also didn't do anything special for my birthday, which was a little disappointing considering I specifically booked a birthday brunch reservation. The entire experience also took about three hours from arrival to leaving, which felt way too long for brunch. Our waiter was kind, and the food itself came out at reasonable times, but overall service was very slow. To be fair, they had only been open for two days, so we weren't expecting perfection. That said, the space itself is absolutely adorable. Based on the decor and layout, I was expecting more of a Mexican-inspired concept, so the Mediterranean menu was definitely a surprise.
