Birria taco & Pastor taco - BLAND AF
    Grace C.

If ur Hispanic & looking for some fire a*$ tacos.... This place ain't it! Its giving gringo owned "Mexican inspired" food. Super bland -- NO flavor!!! At. All. Must've been flavored with water & food coloring cuz while it has color, its plain jane. Also my order & my husband's order was supposed to come with rice & beans, they did not include it unfortunately we had to go all the way back to get it (too expensive to just to forget it!) They're avocado salsa has no flavor, no spice, N-o-t-h-i-n-g! We tried the al pastor, birria, & asada.. All flavorless the most decent one (& if u can even say that) is the birria, we also tried their Horchata & the horchata shake & its aiight definitely not authentic very light could definitely use more rice & cinnamon to it... All in all lame experience not worth ur hard earned $$$, most likely won't be back. This place needs help in the kitchen ASAP! Hire Mexican cooks, they cook with love! & actually known what theyre doing!!! AZ needs to stop building these food chains cuz it just ain't it! Just my opinion tho

Supposed to be a Chicken Quesadilla

Ordered a chicken quesadilla and got this mess... very little chicken and no cheese. Opened right up like a taco so little amount of cheese. Never again plus the chicken been sitting under a heat lamp for who knows.

    the front of the restaurant
    Donn D.

The burritos here are super filling and full of fresh ingredients. When we walked in they had about sixty or so huge red tomato's roasting on the grill, which was quite the sight to behold. The tortillas are so fresh and flavorful, and the salsa is just smoky roasted goodness. The only downside here is that it is an east facing building with huge glass roll up garage doors, so when the sun starts to set it's blinding, and there is just no place to get away from it.

Receipt for a lame overpriced meal.

It was my birthday weekend and I love to treat myself as a tradition to loaded nachos to celebrate!…read moreI heard somewhere that you cannot consume calories on your birthday. It sounds like a myth, but I'm going with it. Haha! My family and I were able to make a reservation at Barrio Queen, easily via OpenTable. Their patio was available if you wanted to sit out there, but really it was closed because of the heat so we sat inside. We had a nice, spacious booth for the four of us and the hostess was super sweet and accommodated us right away. We were greeted by our server, Hanna, who was absolutely amazing. The service was so fast. She listened to everything and she was super sweet to the kids. The kids got to color while they waited for their milk and they ordered off of the kids menu. It's very family, friendly and for 8 to 9 dollars you can get your meal, drink, side, and dessert for the kids which I think is a great price. My son ordered the cheese quesadillas and my daughter had the steak tacos. They had rice and beans and fruit as their sides and a drink of milk. Later they would get ice cream for their dessert. When we went, it was about 430 on a Friday and they have happy hour between three and six so we ordered mostly off of the happy hour menu. I ordered the watermelon agua Fresca and summer fajitas off of their seasonal menu while my husband ordered tortillas, tacos, and quesadillas off of the happy hour menu. I thought the happy our menu was amazing. For five dollars each plate you can get so much food. Altogether we were in and out and about an hour. The place itself was lively. Parking is plentiful outside in the lot. Prices are beyond reasonable. The music is fun and upbeat. You have to get the guacamole. They bring over the car and make it there right in front of you and it's delicious and healthy, too! Hanna told us the way to get such flavor and everything they make is just to roast everything. Good tip. We also had Joe, the manager come over to make sure we had everything we needed. Altogether, my family and I had the best time. My husband even said this is a five star experience and my son said this is the best place ever! My daughter loved the music and was dancing the whole time. If my family is happy, I am happy. Truly a great place to spend my birthday. Also, Hanna brought over a complementary birthday dessert. A lava, chocolate cake with ice cream and strawberries on the side. Doesn't get much better than that. We will be back, Barrio, Queen! Which I believe stands for neighborhood queen. She happens to be right in between where I live and where I work so I will see you later, queen.

I wanted my review to go up in star rating (1st visit was a generous 4 stars) but, even if I'm…read morefeeling generous, I have to say this time was not as good. Server was great - both times. Ambiance is fun and modern. But the food was not. It's like no one tastes what they are serving. This time I ordered the Chili Relleno de vegetales. The sauce tasted like warmed up salsa tbh. The dish was watery (see photos). The relleno did not appear to be breaded or fried. It was a pretty wet Chili filled with corn, cheese bits and other veg. $19. Just not good. Idk why I even took the rest of it (I ate about 1/3rd before I tapped out) to go as I tossed it in the trash as soon as I got home. It came with a generous side of beans that were epic in their saltiness! Just not good. A manager stopped by to ask how things were but I hadn't had more than a taste of my food. He was nice tho. I ordered the Jamaica Agua Fresca and it was so overly sweet that I dumped an entire glass of water in it to decrease the sweetness. And when I say sweet, it was sweeter than extra sweet tea. Had it been diluted, it would've been the highlight of the meal along with the free chips. I keep hoping they work out the kinks but I am not dying to come back. Which is too bad because I can see they are trying. It appears most of the problems stem from the back of the house. Management should taste the dishes they serve and work with the cooks to either update recipes, cull the menu down to only the good items or taste dishes before they are sent out.

I need to talk about my husband and Backyard Taco…read more This man doesn't eat Backyard Taco... he blackouts for it. We don't "order food", we trigger a ritual. The second it shows up on delivery, it's like someone rang a dinner bell for a very large, very determined farm animal with WiFi. He sees the bag and something changes. Eyes lock in. Shoulders drop. The room gets quiet. Not in a peaceful way, more like "this is about to get weird..." Then the container opens and it's game over. There is no small bite. No appreciation phase. Just immediate, aggressive commitment. It's like watching a raccoon that just discovered a full buffet and a deadline. I've seen him go from "normal human conversation" to "hunched over the table, guarding the food like it owes him money" in under five seconds. If Backyard Taco ever sponsored a documentary, I would simply submit footage of him and call it: Man vs. Taco. The taco wins. The speed is concerning. The focus is worse. I'll say something like, "Hey, did you have a good day?" and he'll respond mid-bite with a grunt that I can only assume translates to, "I have transcended this plane of existence and now live here permanently." We order delivery, which somehow makes it worse. There's no decorum. No restaurant pressure. Just pure, unfiltered consumption in the comfort of our home, like unleashing a very polite chaos monster into the living room. And yet... I keep ordering it. Because I've accepted the truth: Backyard Taco feeds my husband in a way that I cannot. And I respect that. Final rating: 10/10.

We were able to get reservations on OpenTable same day which was on a Tuesday so that's expected when I came in. I was greeted by a friendly hostess, who sat us very quickly. The ambience inside is super modern and a good vibe in general. Our server, Yuri was absolutely amazing. She was super patient and helpful/accommodating with having a baby at a restaurant. They DO have high chairs! She also gave a really good recommendation of the ceviche which me and my wife found phenomenal! It was a different style of ceviche than I typically get and the variety of seafood as well as the sauce that it was marinated with was delicious. One thing, though that I would say that for personal preference at least would be that I wish they had some spice on it that would've sent it to the moon. I also got the steak the filet mignon specifically and I would've done the mashed potatoes because they sounded like they were really good, but I ended up getting potato wedges because my wife wanted some lolll The filet mignon was really good. I would say just one critique would be that it wasn't Cook the same throughout so like the right side was medium and then the side that luckily I cut into at first was medium rare so that was one downside but overall it was really good tasting steak. We also got a side of sautéed veggies, which were delicious. And then, lastly, when we were leaving or about to get the check, Yuri told us that because we are celebrating our anniversary that they wanted to surprise us with a flan! That flan was pretty good, I wouldn't say it's to die for . but I also come from a Hispanic family so I'm kinda picky. Next time I go back, I will definitely try a lot more on the menu and I have to go when I have a complete cheat meal so I can eat a lot of food! We didn't end up drinking today because middle of the week but next time I go back I have 100% will get some of their cocktails too as they look absolutely delicious! Overall, I would recommend this place. The staff was super super friendly ambience was good. The food was good and there's more items to explore on the menu

The Truly Bougie Dining club headed to Origen and it did not disappoint. I had been there last…read moreyear so I was a bit reluctant, however, and I am so happy to say they have hit it out of the park. I am so happy we chose your beautiful restaurant. For starters we were seated as soon as we checked in for our 6:30 reservation. We sat in a cozy area near the front. The ambiance was very pleasant. The table was set with beautiful plates and also big big Reidel wine goblets. Our server was amazing. Jamie made sure she gave us plenty of time to get settled and returned a few times to get everyone's drink selections and we didn't feel rushed. I ordered the Hibiscus Mezcalita, my friend ordered the December 2nd. Both were amazing craft cocktails. They were so good she ordered a second one and I ordered a Cucumber Spicy Mezcalita. Again very good. The rest of our group had beers, a few Old Fashions and an Aperol Spritz. All very good. (After dinner we were able to meet the mixologist behind the bar. He was so passionate about his craft and detailed his efforts and length it takes to make each of their signature drinks. It's very obvious he loves what he does and I should add he is the only one who creates these wonderful flavors, mostly for consistency for the rest of the bar staff. Super impressive.) Now to the even better stuff. Food was amazing. I ordered the Sonoran tacos. They were very tasty. The meat was tender. I used both sauces and the cream which is delivered to the table prior to dinner. My friend ordered tacos de Filet with the bone marrow. She was so happy with her selection. The manager Carlos actually had made his way to our table and when our food arrived he offered a hand. My friend wasn't sure about what to do with the bone marrow. Carlos stepped in and using a small spoon, spooned the bone marrow over the tacos for an added flavor. She was impressed as was the rest of our group. My other girlfriend ordered the Angus skirt steak. Unfortunately she thought her steak was a little chewy. Finally the men in our group opted for the 12oz ribeye, and the Cowboy bone-in Ribeye. Again they said the meat had great flavor, seasoned great, a great cut of meat, and zero left on their plate. They even substituted French fries for my husband which was a nice touch. Throughout the night Jamie checked on us, Carlos the manager checked on us, and we also had another gentleman come and ask us if our dinner was going good. I absolutely appreciated it. We were all so happy which made our dinner much more enjoyable knowing we were being treated with much so much care. We ended the night with dessert. We ordered a flan, a cheesecake made out of canela crackers, and a cake of some sort. All were delicious and were shared with the table. To top things off we were given a tour of this magical one of a kind restaurant. We were led to more intimate places throughout for bigger parties and celebrations. They also have a wine room filled with great wine selection. Definitely did not expect the different possibilities to entertain bigger parties. I am so happy to have returned to Origen. Thanks for a great night.
