We had the tomahawk steak, scallops with bone marrow, and a variety of seafood and veggies. It was definitely on the pricey side, but honestly, worth it for a special occasion! A couple of things were a little disappointing. I had booked two weeks in advance and even called ahead hoping for a table near the wine cellar, so I was a little surprised to be seated in the back corner by the wall and bathroom, especially since it was a Tuesday and the restaurant wasn't very busy. I was also really excited about the ceviche I convinced my husband to order, but unfortunately, we never received it. This experience started out as a great one! Live music, the waiter was kind and answered all my questions. I got a water to start because I was waiting for my friends (we were here for a birthday dinner last night). Before they arrived, I noticed a crusty piece of food on my water glass and didn't make a scene and notified the waiter after my friends got there and we ordered drinks. Fast forward we get our food(mind you the least expensive item we ordered was $30). My friend who was the birthday girl found not one but two hairs in her food. All of us were extremely disappointed. We came here to have a good food and a good experience and it was not that. It's hard for me to find excuses for the staff who prepared the food. Managers should be doing quality checks on everything every step of the way. People are paying for good food as well and the experience, please do better for the community. They did give her a piece of flan for her birthday and comped her meal but we would have much rather paid and had a good experience. The manager seemed very nonchalant in a way that made all of us feel like it's happened before at some point. Whoever owns this restaurant please reevaluate your staff and processes. The restaurant clearly puts a lot of effort into creating an upscale, classy atmosphere, but to me it came across as overhyped and overpriced for what you actually get. There's nothing wrong with trying to provide a high-end dining experience, but the food, service, and overall experience need to justify the prices. Here, it felt like we were paying more for the presentation, image, and trendy atmosphere than for an exceptional meal. So many better dining experiences in the area. For this occasion we ordered: Bone in ribeye: 4/5- the 20oz steak was perfectly cooked with a charred flavor, but I personally think it's missing butter and some rosemary. As for the mashed potatoes, it was finely grated and mashed and was just divine to eat Salmon carpaccio 3/5- the ponzu flavor was light and not too overwhelming and thought it was great sauce. However, the deduction comes in the way the salmon was cut. For sure if the Salmon were thinly slice vs chucks, I would've gave this dish a higher score. I love feeling like I can dress up for a Gilbert restaurant. Having gone for dinner and happy hour, both did not disappoint. Got the flank steak and pork belly tacos at dinner. Loved both and steak cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were even amazing! The crevice was incredible. The broth everything is in, is different but on point with the fish. I want it everytime I go! I went for happy hour a month later, and you truly can't beat this happy hour anywhere . $30 for 3 different kinds of steaks , cooked how you want and with a side! The pork belly tacos were the star of the show, perfectly salty and crunchy but still with a bit of chew. The one downside is that the tacos desperately needed some type of salsa or crema. The pasta and steak were decent but won't blow you away. There are steak houses with better steak and Italian joints with better pasta. And the steak fries were very average. Cocktails were good. It was our first time here and we decided to give happy hour a try. I was really impressed with the ambiance of the restaurant right when you walk in and throughout, it's gorgeous. My husband reviewed the menus prior but I didn't. I was shocked by the price of the food and especially the kids meals $18-20ish, and $48ish for enchiladas. That being said, the quality of the food, service, and ambiance helped me feel more comfortable with the cost. I would say I thought it was going to be a more casual experience (because of the plaza) but it does have a more upscale vibe. Went here with a group on a Tuesday night. We had a reservation so they knew we were coming. Our waitress was nice but it was the slowest service ever! Seated at 6:45pm, we didn't get to order appetizers until nearly 7:30. The whole meal dragged on. Our table was never properly cleared of unused or dirty dishes and glasses. A male manager came by twice and grabbed a few things but otherwise our waitress was having to do it all herself. This place was great and the staff was even better. Me and my wife were celebrating our two year anniversary and we couldn't get a babysitter so we had to pack up the baby with us lol. We were able to get reservations on OpenTable same day which was on a Tuesday so that's expected when I came in. I was greeted by a friendly hostess, who sat us very quickly. The ambience inside is super modern and a good vibe in general. Our server, Yuri was absolutely amazing. She was super patient and helpful/accommodating with having a baby at a restaurant. They DO have high chairs! She also gave a really good recommendation of the ceviche which me and my wife found phenomenal! It was a different style of ceviche than I typically get and the variety of seafood as well as the sauce that it was marinated with was delicious. One thing, though that I would say that for personal preference at least would be that I wish they had some spice on it that would've sent it to the moon. I also got the steak the filet mignon specifically and I would've done the mashed potatoes because they sounded like they were really good, but I ended up getting potato wedges because my wife wanted some lolll The filet mignon was really good. I would say just one critique would be that it wasn't Cook the same throughout so like the right side was medium and then the side that luckily I cut into at first was medium rare so that was one downside but overall it was really good tasting steak. We also got a side of sautéed veggies, which were delicious. And then, lastly, when we were leaving or about to get the check, Yuri told us that because we are celebrating our anniversary that they wanted to surprise us with a flan! That flan was pretty good, I wouldn't say it's to die for . but I also come from a Hispanic family so I'm kinda picky. Next time I go back, I will definitely try a lot more on the menu and I have to go when I have a complete cheat meal so I can eat a lot of food! We didn't end up drinking today because middle of the week but next time I go back I have 100% will get some of their cocktails too as they look absolutely delicious! The Truly Bougie Dining club headed to Origen and it did not disappoint. I had been there last year so I was a bit reluctant, however, and I am so happy to say they have hit it out of the park. I am so happy we chose your beautiful restaurant. For starters we were seated as soon as we checked in for our 6:30 reservation. We sat in a cozy area near the front. The ambiance was very pleasant. The table was set with beautiful plates and also big big Reidel wine goblets. Our server was amazing. Jamie made sure she gave us plenty of time to get settled and returned a few times to get everyone's drink selections and we didn't feel rushed. I ordered the Hibiscus Mezcalita, my friend ordered the December 2nd. Both were amazing craft cocktails. They were so good she ordered a second one and I ordered a Cucumber Spicy Mezcalita. Again very good. The rest of our group had beers, a few Old Fashions and an Aperol Spritz. All very good. (After dinner we were able to meet the mixologist behind the bar. He was so passionate about his craft and detailed his efforts and length it takes to make each of their signature drinks. It's very obvious he loves what he does and I should add he is the only one who creates these wonderful flavors, mostly for consistency for the rest of the bar staff. Super impressive.) Now to the even better stuff. Food was amazing. I ordered the Sonoran tacos. They were very tasty. The meat was tender. I used both sauces and the cream which is delivered to the table prior to dinner. My friend ordered tacos de Filet with the bone marrow. She was so happy with her selection. The manager Carlos actually had made his way to our table and when our food arrived he offered a hand. My friend wasn't sure about what to do with the bone marrow. Carlos stepped in and using a small spoon, spooned the bone marrow over the tacos for an added flavor. She was impressed as was the rest of our group. My other girlfriend ordered the Angus skirt steak. Unfortunately she thought her steak was a little chewy. Finally the men in our group opted for the 12oz ribeye, and the Cowboy bone-in Ribeye. Again they said the meat had great flavor, seasoned great, a great cut of meat, and zero left on their plate. They even substituted French fries for my husband which was a nice touch. Throughout the night Jamie checked on us, Carlos the manager checked on us, and we also had another gentleman come and ask us if our dinner was going good. I absolutely appreciated it. We were all so happy which made our dinner much more enjoyable knowing we were being treated with much so much care. We ended the night with dessert. We ordered a flan, a cheesecake made out of canela crackers, and a cake of some sort. All were delicious and were shared with the table. To top things off we were given a tour of this magical one of a kind restaurant. We were led to more intimate places throughout for bigger parties and celebrations. Found this place through an instagram story and was excited to try it. We were seated during happy hour with no reservation. They easily accommodated our group of five. The food is excellent and flavorful. The portion sizes are very generous and they even offered to fire the steak at two temperatures to split. We ordered the ribeye during happy hour. Second visit to Origen, this time flying in specifically for Origen and a bar before heading back out the next morning. Still a good experience, and the restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. Food was decent, and the service was on point. My only critique this time is it did not taste like it did last time at all. Still good, but consistency is important! The octopus this time was very close to overcooked, but just still flew under the radar, and the short rib was great. Carpaccio was good itself but the bread was incredibly over roasted to the point of being a giant crumbling crouton. One complaint was the Churro Carajillo, it was vastly different, appeared to be missing all of the alcohol and taste like a latte. I did bring this up and they assured it was correct and offered a small shot on the side to add to it. This was a good gestures, but the recipe absolutely changed since my last visit, and they should REALLY consider going back to the old one. The salsas and guacamole all had way too much lime, almost like they used concentrate to make them. The filet was good but lacked salt, the skirt steak was like old meat or maybe had been thawed and re-frozen as it had a very reddish tough texture and the carbon taste wasn't appealing. They had live music playing jazz with a saxophone that was really quite soothing and provided an upscale vibe. The staff here were very attentive, but I will say the food was really disappointing. This was our first time at ORIGEN, and we absolutely loved it. As soon as you walk in, the vibe is so different. The look of the restaurant is upscale but also laid back. We were seated, and our amazing server, Alex, introduced himself and took our drink order. We ordered a few appetizers, the elote and the queso fundido. Once the appetizers arrived, Alex served us ladies our first taste of the queso - DELICIOUS!! For our entree, my hubby and I shared the ribeye with mashed potatoes from the HH menu. It's their Steak Lovers special and a great deal at $29. You can choose from a ribeye and New York, or a filet mignon. The steak was cooked perfectly and very tasty. We also ordered a side of broccolini. It was tender but way too smoky. A little too smoky in our opinion and our least favorite. A good friend recommended Origen after hearing us rave about our two great experiences at BLU Seafood next door. My wife and I made a 7:15 pm reservation and, when we arrived, were asked if we could wait a few minutes because they were busy. We were seated on the patio within about 15 minutes. Our server greeted us quickly, walked us through the menu, and took our drink and appetizer order. The drinks (a beer and an Old Fashioned) and the ceviche arrived promptly and were all excellent. Shortly after, we ordered our entrée along with another round of drinks. That's when things went downhill. We waited... and waited. My wife ordered another beer, which arrived quickly, but our food never did. Our server did stop by a couple of times to apologize and let us know there were delays. By around 9:00 pm, after more than 90 minutes since ordering our entrée, my wife said she wasn't even sure she was hungry anymore--and honestly, I felt the same. I asked to speak with a manager. The host mentioned it had been a "really rough night" and that three tables had already walked out. About 10 minutes later, a very polite manager came by to apologize and insisted on comping our drinks and appetizer, which we appreciated. I grew up in the restaurant business, and simply put, there's no excuse for a 90+ minute wait for dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the staff was friendly, and what we did have was very good--but unfortunately the overall experience was too disappointing for us to return. One final note for management: there was a gentleman on the patio in a white collared shirt working on a laptop and giving direction to staff, who appeared to be in a management or ownership role. Given the situation, it would have gone a long way for him to check in with guests and help address the issues. I hope they can improve, but for now we'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Came here for my husband's birthday. Interior is stunning. Food was pretty good, but little things throughout the meal left me feeling a tad disappointed. We were seated at a table near the middle of the restaurant, and it is for sure a stunning restaurant. But for some reason, I felt very out of place and oddly isolated(?) even though we were near the middle. I finally realized while we were waiting for our entrees that we were sitting at a table big enough for 4-5 people and it was just us two, but all the other chairs were removed from our table. Not sure if that was to create more space? However I felt like I was sitting in a walk path and got bumped pretty hard by a server while eating, but it was fine. We started with appetizers and ordered the Queso Fundido. We tried to order the Charred Savoy Cabbage as well, but was told it was taken off the menu, even though it was listed on our menus. Apparently we had received old menus, and our waiter had to bring us new ones. I was a little bummed because I really wanted to try the cabbage, but no worries. Since it was my husband's birthday and we were celebrating some other things, we went all out and tried the Cowboy Bone-In Ribeye, the Angus Short Rib Steak, and the Tacos De Filet (comes with bone marrow). It did take quite a while for the entrees to arrive, but we didn't mind. Everything looked visually amazing when it came out. The ribeye was more rare than we liked, the tacos were a bit dry, but overall, the food was pretty good. I guess the thing that bothered me a bit was the complimentary birthday dessert. I had mentioned to the server that it was my husband's birthday when we ordered entrees. I wasn't sure if Origen did anything for birthdays, but I saw the group in front of us receive a birthday dessert and hoped we'd get one. While we were eating, I heard a different table that just arrived say it was their birthday and our same server said that he'd have "a nice birthday treat for them at the end of the meal." I wasn't sure if my husband heard our server say that to the other table, but was happy knowing he'd be surprised with a little birthday dessert at the end of the meal. However, we were never given a birthday dessert. Maybe our server forgot and we needed to mention it again, but it felt pushy and honestly I'm too much of an introvert to do that. It feels petty to be a little sour because we didn't get a birthday treat, but I guess with how much we spent on our meal, it would have been nice to get a little something since we were celebrating, especially when other people around us were getting birthday desserts. I do think this is still a good place for a special occasion. The food is pretty good and the interior is just so gorgeous. Other than the ambience, I was not impressed....at all. The service was horrendous!!! I mean we waited about 10 minutes for our drinks and 20 minutes for our check. It was awful. The food was not great and extremely overpriced. I would much rather go to a high scale establishment like Steak 44 for comparable prices. Mediocre at best. I would go back for HH and the bar based on the ambiance but there are far better restaurants out there with far better service. Don't let the aesthetics of this place fool you for good food and good service. read more

We had a fantastic meal at this relatively new restaurant located at Williams Field and power Road. First, I'd like to start by talking about the ambience. The decor inside this restaurant is absolutely impeccable. I definitely love the attention to detail throughout. The Wood gave us a very warm and cozy feeling. This was perfect because we were on a date night! I love the dark ceilings, the low lighting and all of the wood accents. Great romantic vibe. We settled on the short rib, which was on the shareable side of the menu. We're very glad we did. It was cooked perfectly and melted in our mouths. It was topped with a delicious chimichurri sauce and accompanied by some perfectly seasoned mashed potatoes and absolutely delicious soy glazed caramelized, onions with a roasted jalapeño on top. Since we were sharing a dish, we decided on an appetizer. We chose the guacamole, which was also very well seasoned and served with large circular corn tortilla chips. Our server was friendly and in the process of training someone new. The service was good. We would definitely return to this restaurant it's nice to have an upscale restaurant closer to Queen Creek. read more

We came here for Father's Day a few weeks ago, and we were genuinely so impressed with our server. I ventured out and tried bone marrow for the first time and when I didn't like it, I didn't even have to tell the server and he was trying to do so many accommodations to just make sure I had food in front of me that we loved. It's never an expectation when a restaurant does things like that but it just makes you want to be loyal to them and come back to them because the customer service was truly a 10 out of 10.
