I was finally able to try Bacon And Jam. I couldn't find parking the first time I tried coming a couple of weeks ago, but on a Tuesday morning (11.28.2017), it was a go. My mom, myself and my three year old son were greeted quickly and were seated in a booth in seconds. The decor was beautiful. I loved their whole rustic-farmhouse feel they have going on. Our waitress was attentive and welcoming. We were offered coffee and we were excited to drink it because the mugs were actually bigger than your average breakfast/lunch spots. But unfortunately, the coffee was a miss for us. At first, we thought that maybe it was the creamer, so when we got another refill of our coffee, we tried it without the creamer and it still had a tart bitter taste to it, so we didn't even bother finishing it. My son had the funfetti pancakes and a side of sausage. Sausage was really good and thick. He finished his colorful funfetti pancakes with a generous portion of whipped cream, which is a "two thumbs up" for a toddler. My mom and I ordered similar breakfast egg combos, except she had sausage and pancakes and I had a waffle (with banana) and bacon. Our eggs were a bit overcooked, which left the browning markings on our eggs and our hash brown potatoes were a bit mushy, making it lack the crispiness that I'm used to. Nonetheless, the bacon was actually cooked exactly the way I like it. The bacon was a thick cut, not cooked too crispy, but had that good bite that still gave out that savory flavor. My waffle was great, nothing else to it. Mother said pancakes were nothing special, just your normal pancakes. The portions are pretty big and the price is good too. I will give this place another chance, perhaps I'll try something different on the menu. This place is still fairly new, so maybe they're still working out some kinks. read more

I tried bacon and jam just recently. I was not impressed. I ordered the country skillet ( I think it was called) and it was bland. No flavor at all. My eggs were over cooked as well. I had a side order of pancakes and all I could taste was the pancake powder. No other flavor. I was excited to have something open up in the neighborhood but this was a total failure. Very limited menu and very mediocre food. No build your own omelet choices and the food was pretty bland. I had a burger which tasted like it was a frozen patty and my mom had an omelet which was just okay. The fries and coffee were good. Our waitress didn't seem to enthused to be at work and was a tad pushy as far as bringing us the check even though the restaurant was half full. Went for the first time on Father's Day. Not too bad of a wait. The staff was very friendly. I liked the simple ness of the menu-it's not overloaded with a hundred choices. I guess that is why everything was so delicious! Make what you offer the very best it can be made! There were 6 of us-no kiddie menu portions-and we still had a lot to bring home for leftovers. This is my go to breakfast spot. Great people and even better food. The Southern Benedict dish is my favorite alongside the banana nut pancakes. Bananas come carmelized so you don't need any syrup. The Metropolis Coffee is really enjoyable black. Don't pass over this neighbor gem. read more

Met my friend there for brunch today. Had the banana nut carmelized pancakes. Delish! This restaurants is a wonderful place to catch up and it is very clean our waitress was wonderful. So glad that they opened up in Mt Greenwood right across from St. Christina Church. Our foot was hot, fresh and the prices are great. What a great breakfast spot! I couldn't wait for this place to open and have continued to go every weekend now. The wait-time is not bad at all. The coffee is delicious! New to the neighborhood and love going out for breakfast so I was pretty excited to potentially find a new gem. I loved how cute it is inside and the servers were pretty attentive when we were seated. Our waters were brought out right away. My glass was covered in red lipstick so the glasses weren't properly cleaned. Instead of complaining I understood and just didnt drink it. Food came out quick which is amazing.. It was just mediocre though. Nothing special to rave about within the first few bites. Reached for some ketchup and the bottle was really sticky and top had dried ketchup all over the top. Gross. Set it back down and gave that up too. Took about 3 more bites of my food and found what appeared to be a green string in my food. Handed it to my husband trying to identify it. Still wanting not to complain because I honestly don't like those type of people just gave up on my meal being grossed out with the lack of cleanliness. My husband didnt finish his either. We paid our bill and left. We dont reccomend this place. Maybe to have those issues on a busy weekend to get people in and out I can possibly understand? Not on a wed early afternoon.. We both really wished it would have been great or even good because it's practically walking distance for us and the kids. We will not be back. read more

Went there this morning for first time. I see somebody else on here reviewed it this morning and gave it 2 stars also so maybe it was just a bad morning because I have to agree with Liz H., the food needed seasoning. Firstly I had heard a lot of hype so was excited to try this place and it looked very clean and well presented so that's why I give it the 2 stars. Unfortunately, while it's nice and modern and the concept is more urban and modern and badly in needed in Mount Greenwood/Beverly area, the food is just not up to standard for that to be enough. The food temperature was warm, always a pet peeve of mine, from working in the hospitality industry. To be clear hot food should be hot, not warm, hot. If your food is not hot something is wrong. My husbands corn beef was ok he said but not fantastic. I paid extra for avocado and it was not ripe enough. I chose the vegetarian omelette because it comes with pesto-out server brought the pesto later as she forgot it she said. There is no service with a smile or chat from the servers it is busy, loud and a long line of people waiting right by your table adds to the feeling that the servers just want you in and out. I just heard about the bacon flavor jam on here now, I would like to have heard about this famous bacon flavor jam but our server didn't mention it or the soups or anything else, except "are you ready to order" and "can I take your plates" and she looked a little perplexed during the ordering process. We are actually easy people but I think we held this place to a higher standard because it sells itself as something more than the average diner-it sells itself as a north-side/Harvest Room in Palos type place combined with a diner.
