I am so glad we found Bacon on our trip to Boise. Our family recommended the restaurant, and it did not disappoint! As soon as we got there, we noticed that a line was already forming as soon as we got there, and that is when it first opened! Always a good sign! After placing our order at the walk-up menu counter, we then were seated. You are allowed to take your masks off at the table when you are seated. After running by those two parks by the river. One can get hella famished. Specially when running on an empty stomach. So I whip out my handy dandy Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with the amazing stylus and super fast processor. Ran the amazing Yelp app and I found this spot not too far from my hotel. Where I started my run. Korrobuta Sausage Patty: eh! Whatever,, for $4.50 you would think it'd be better than a Hilshire Farm patty. NOPE! Breakfast Biscuit: It was super dry. Nothing special. I tried eating it with the sausage, even put some Tabasco sauce, didn't help, not one bit. This was my free side. Totally not worth it. Meatball Sammy: smothered in cheese and marinara sauce was actually really good. Probably the savior of the moment. If it wasnt for this, I would give this spot 2 stars. Coffee is free refills after purchase. Theres also infused water if you're into that stuff. Cool industrial chic setting. Service was really nice, food was a bit on the forgettable side. Sorry guys. This place is the best. Had a nice brunch with the wife. The biscuits and gravy was excellent. The biscuit was a little tough (day old I suspect) but the gravy more than made up for it. That gravy is off the chart. We also had the bacon shots which is a must have when you visit. Just a special place to eat downtown that will totally satisfy and enable you to get that bacon fix. I had the Arkansas with coffee and a side of grits. I know grits well. These grits had the texture and flavor of raw flour. I rarely get grits cooked properly in the western US, so this experience wasn't too surprising. The gravy was quite bad. Again, the texture and flavor of raw flour and too much grease that wasn't incorporated into a roux. Lastly the batter on the chicken fillet was very thick and just too much batter for this dish. $28 was my total with tip. I left extremely disappointed. One of the most memorable hidden gems we found in Boise, Idaho was a breakfast and lunch restaurant called BACON--and it truly holds up to the name! The owner developed his signature bacon and seasoning called Berryhill Bacon. Between the offerings they serve at the restaurant and their packaged uncooked bacon, they sell over 8 tons of bacon a year! We stopped at this location on a foodie tour of downtown Boise. Watching the crowds, you can see a variety of demographics including businessmen, families, and a bridal party. Our group was taken to a semi-private room where we were told the whole story of the restaurant, and were served bloody mary cocktails with a slice of their signature bacon, with a sidecar of candied bacon. However, the piece de resistance was the bacon mac and cheese, known as the MAC, which includes bacon, mushrooms, tomato and lots of cheese! As a chubby kid who has had a lot of fancy and not so fancy mac and cheese, I can safely say that this was one of the best I have ever tried! One of my favorite brunch spots! You order first and then sit down with a number. Water is self serve and a separate bar. Good indoor and outdoor seating options. On a weekday they aren't too busy but can get crowded on the weekend. I would definitely try the bacon sampler! A fun tasting experience to share with a friend. The salad is honestly amazing - they do not skip on the meat lol. The bacon burger is also phenomenal (2/3 bacon!). Cinnamon roll is a tad dry but still delicious. Every local I met raved about this place and I think I went in with too high of expectations. The seating is first come first serve (which works for Idaho because everyone is incredibly pleasant & friendly). The hosts/servers were super helpful in keeping an eye out for a table for our group. The wait to find a table wasn't awful. We get seated & eye over the menu and A BACON TASTER FLIGHT?! Hell yes. We ordered one flight that was enough to share between 4 girls. The taster consisted of savory to sweet flavors of bacon. SO GOOD. The wait staff that helped up were so kind & informative & gave a great recommendations. This place was pretty good but not amazing. From the exterior it is a very unique older style building with some fancy signage out in front. Once inside it is a very casual seating style where you seat yourself. On the right hand side is the full bar where you can order mimosas or their popular bloody Mary's. In the back is where you go to the register and place your order much like a Panera or Jason's Deli they hand you a number you post on your table. While finding a table it is important to grab your own waters, silverware, and napkins as you do not have a server. My friend ordered a Bloody Mary which was topped with all kinds of goodies. She enjoyed the bloody and all the extras on top. Next, our food came out fairly quick and because it was New Years we got a special soup shot. A shot glass filled with beans, and other interesting things. Not the best thing to nurse a hangover... lol However, I ordered the josh hash which was aesthetically everything I wanted. As I took my first bite the potatoes were perfectly cooked and the egg oozed out the yolk over the potatoes and gravy. The first bite was savory and had an extra crunch from the onions. Overall the hash was great, however the meat was a little dry which could have been okay if the gravy smothered it. Lastly, I had ordered a mocha. During our visit I finished my food and still no mocha. So I stood up and walked to the bar where I saw what looked like a to go coffee. It had my table number and said mocha so I grabbed it. This place was great!! We came right before the rush which was lucky because we had a few stipulations (allergies) to work through with the staff when placing the order. I had the bacon Brie sando minus the pesto and honestly that sandwich was so moist, I didn't even need the pesto. Only regret was getting the half not the whole. Kid wanted the oatmeal and has a peanut and egg allergy- the server was sure to put it on the ticket even those ingredients didn't come with the order, which was hugely appreciated. She even suggested to skip the currants noticing he's 1.5 and those may be a choking hazard for him. Awesomeeee The staff also rallied to put some tables together for our 7 top. 10/10 would return. Service was not existent other than the girl showing us to a table and someone bringing the food out. You must get your own utensils and drinks. If you need refills or salt and pepper you are on your own. The girl showing you to your table went awol not long after we were seated. You pay when you order at the counter and there is an opportunity to tip at that time. Since I had not received any service at that point I did not tip. Glad I did not as I did not receive service after that time also . I'm not in the habit of paying for bad service.
