My husbands frittata was greatly undercooked and runny. He asked the waitress if she could take it back and cook it through. She asked why he didn't say he wanted his eggs cooked well done and we replied that we didn't know we had to. (I've never ever been served runny scrambled eggs or an undercooked omelette until we ate at Bacon). Anyways, she wouldn't cook it through, so my husband didn't eat it. 2 stars because their toast and homemade jam was delicious. But definitely won't be back, poor customer service skills. read more

My friend and I were coming from SFO airport back to home and we wanted to eat breakfast in Novato. This placed seemed to be the only one open at the time we were coming back and as soon as we arrived it was super cute inside and outdoor eating. We sat outside since it was a lovely day and it was perfect. The menu looked soo good but we got the basic 2 eggs combo and it was sooo good! The bacon was delicious as well with the homemade strawberry jam! We finished our whole plate it was that good! We definitely will be coming back. Great food with great prices! read more

Tried this place on a whim after recently moving to the area and it was great. I got a waffle with fried chicken and eggs and it was on point . The waffle was light and fluffy and the fried chicken was crisp and juicy. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. Will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. Do not come here. We ordered breakfast to-go for our family as we were staying nearby. They got our order wrong, we walked back to correct it and paid more money just to get what we originally ordered. Then they told us to just leave because we were being too difficult. All we wanted were 2 orders of the pancakes specials, but they kept trying to charge us for Ala carte pancakes. My husband left and as he was walking away the chef ran out of the restaurant and chased him down a block getting in his face yelling and cursing at him as he is holding our 1 year old. Had a great breakfast at Bacon! The table ordered: - Waffle with fried chicken and eggs. Chicken crispy and delicious, eggs cooked perfectly! - Crab frittata. Lots of crab. - One of the benedicts (can't remember which). Eggs cooked perfectly (i.e. not well done - talking to you, Mother's Day buffet at the Club Restaurant!). Lots of hollandaise sauce. They have green tea waffles and fried chicken?! Perfect Asian southern comfort. Surprised me with the side of fruit that came with the order. The down side was that the 2 piece chicken seemed more like 1 piece and a broken piece. A lot of people like this place, Maybe because it's the only other diner of its kind in a city of 55,000 people. But the food is unimpressive, you're better spending your money elsewhere. I recently saw a piece on TV about this restaurant and really thought it would be memorable, in a good way. I cannot say I will ever return or recommend Bacon. We were seated immediately and desired and were given a table outside for our pooch and the two of us. The area was clean and well-attended by staff. The restaurant was quite busy outside, my wife noted that the indoors seating was very packed. Although Marin has altered its mask mandate, we noticed only some folks were wearing masks, both inside and outside. Having had several acquaintances whose relatives have died of the virus which is still here gives a different perspective to the density of customers for safety versus the need to make money. At least outside we were 6' away, roughly. Nuff said on all that. The street noise was considerable. The heaters they use barely did their job. I loved how they attended to refilling my coffee cup, which kept me warm. Now to the food, it's quantity was ok. The bacon was ok. I had a side of bacon along with my Supreme Hash Browns and eggs. I'm going to deliberately "throw a softball" review here (including the rating) as I know these are extraordinary times and feel Bacon is a decent, local, average, ordinary neighborhood breakfast place in Marin, especially when compared to "Comforts", "Bayside", "Toast", "Fred's", "Lighthouse" and "Kitchen Sunnyside", in that order. Here, we waited over 45 minutes for our food and my wife waited 15 minutes for her latte after waiting about 8 minutes after seating to get a beverage order in place. For $60 with tip, I'll not be returning, but I will try the other places on Grant Avenue and go back to Comforts and the other awesome places noted above! read more

I had a decent experience here. The first waiter was very lackluster in his greeting and service, but the one that served me after I received my food made up for it. I tried their specialty burger, a beef burger with garlic aioli and bacon, with plenty of fries. Add an ice tea to my order that was refilled plenty of times by the second waiter, and I was set. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very easygoing. I never felt like I had to hurry and eat. Instead, I enjoyed my meal at my window seat and watched people stroll up and down Grant Avenue. This was our third time at Bacon in a week as we were visiting the area. The server remembered that my husband likes cranberry juice and I like english breakfast tea. We were visiting from Southern California, found this place close to our Airbnb. We had a big party of 9 and the sat us right away making a table just for us. The food was delicious everyone said their order was good. Waffles, California breakfast, chicken steak, burgers. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Even after all the great reviews, I was a little skeptical when we got here. It was about 1:30ish and there was only one other couple in the place. It was like a little ghost town. My bf said we probably just got lucky and missed the rush. I ordered the fried French toast and side of honey bee bacon and he ordered a bacon cheeseburger. The French toast was amazing. Like, funnel cake meets French toast amazing. I ended up not trying the honey bee bacon. They brought it out and it was nice, super thick cut bacon. But the fat was not crispy. I can't do chewy fat. It just does not work with my gag reflex. I asked for them to send it back and make it crisper. A minute later the chef came out and explained that because of the way it's prepared, if he put it back on it would just burn, not get crispy (makes sense with the sugar from the honey). He offered to make me plain bacon instead and i accepted. The regular bacon was great. If you can do non crispy fat, that honey bee bacon looked great though. Even the cup of fruit was amazing. Most places do a couple old slices of melon and maybe some meh berries. This bowl had a whole selection of super fresh seasonal fruit all perfectly ripe. Like they had to of just sliced it the moment I ordered. Of course I had to try the boyfriends food too. The burger was good. I probably would have enjoyed it better if I'd snuck my bite before he wiped off the mayo and drowned it in ketchup. They use really good bread for their buns. And mixed greens instead of boring iceberg lettuce. I even tried one of his potato wedge fries. I normally hate wedge fries. Most places they lack crispness and are meh. These are amazing. Super crispy and well seasoned. It was really hard to not steal all of his fries. I think he deliberately inhaled them so that I couldn't. Staff was also all super friendly. It's probably a good thing we live hours away and we're just passing through. Otherwise I might just live off of that French toast. And that's probably not a healthy diet. Lol read more

Our first visit was during a Sunday Brunch time frame. We ordered the Joe's Special and the Honey Bee frittatas. Both frittatas were prepared very well. Both had a special add flavor that was extremely appropriate for the dishes flavor profile. The homemade jams; raspberry and blackberry flavors were delicious. The ciabatta bread is fresh and delicious. As an iced tea connoisseur, their iced tea is on the top of my top 5 list. It is fresh brewed, they definitely clean their brew pots, you can taste the difference. Just amazing. The staff is amazing, each one works together to make your dining experience the best they can provide. Plate sizes are very appropriate for the plate price. Next time we will order a 3rd dish to share, smaller price, smaller portion. The facilities are beautifully maintained. And they have warm easy to spread butter! read more
