I've been here a handful of times and generally the staff is friendly, there's a place at the bar to sit and there is always something fun to watch on TV. A few girl friends and I came here after the Super Bowl was over and there was a short blonde bartender that was so rude, I will probably not be returning. I asked for a glass of water, and she told me there was self serve water at the opposite end of the bar. I explained that I just had ankle surgery and pushing through a crowd isn't ideal and asked if there were anyway she could just pour me a glass. She said yes and never returned. I like dive bars. Mostly for hanging out with friends. If I want an ACTUAL drink, I make it at home with proper proportions and top shelf ingredients. When I go to a place like Baddeley's, I don't expect good drinks. Just a good time. Turns out they actually know how to make good drinks. I ordered a Moscow Mule (not the most exotic beverage, but surprising few bars can make them) expecting the bartender to tell me they didn't have ginger beer. Instead, she made a beautiful cocktail and served it in the appropriate copper mug. So in addition to being a cool hang with friends, they actually know how to mix drinks. Win win. A great place to watch NFL football! We went to Baddeley's for the first time to watch the Seahawks vs Rams, which wasn't playing at Belmont Brewery because they don't know how to change the channel. After reading a number of bad reviews regarding customer service, I was expecting to be served by Raiderfan, but I found the bartender to be very polite, and the only caveat is that you have to wait your turn. No problem, I went to Catholic school. Anyway, Baddeley's has plenty of TV's, they know how to change the channel, the other football fans there were passionate supporters of their teams, but not out of control. I'll look forward to going back next season! read more

I recently moved bk to LBC and Baddeley's was a great spot. It has cool vibes and shuffleboard. It had always been a fun place for a few drinks but last night I went in with a friend and it wasnt overly busy but we had to wait quite a bit to be served. Then the bartender forgot our beers and served another customer before realizing her mistake. (Its all good, happens to the best of us). We get our beer and all is forgiven. Service was hit and miss for the night then we had ordered our last drink for the evening and like that, it took an eternity to be served even though the bar was not busy. A few mins after we get our beer they call last order. That's fine. My friend and I were sitting chatting and drinking our beer. Then the other bartender approaches us, nobody else, and tells us theyve called last order so we need to drink up and get going. This would have been fine except that he didnt tell anyone else. It was just really weird. We have been in that bar and been pretty damn drunk before but last night I had just gotten out of work and went for a few beers. We were not drunk nor rowdy. We didnt cause a scene, we literally sat at the bar and had a few beers. I'm assuming it's because we weren't regulars. I dont know. But we were definitely left feeling like we didnt belong and were not welcome. I got the hint loud and clear so I wont be back. But overall just really disappointing. read more

Let's see here.....it's a Sunday and I want to watch some football. I stop into a few regular spots that I frequent from time to time and find myself in a sea of people. No tables, stools, or barely a place to stand. My game is on but there's no audio feed- just a bunch of drunken frat boy monkey garbage music playing over the speakers. I decide to venture a little farther east down Broadway. I had heard of this place and had driven by it a few times. I read that they have the Sunday ticket so I thought I would see how things looked. First of all....$2 PBRs. Um yeah I'll sit down for a few drinks. I never thought I would find a place in LA county that served PBR in a fashion not geared to the trust fund baby hipsters who discovered who Bob Dylan is 3 days ago. However, on top of the realistic priced beer they have my game (and every other game) on and there are some open stools and tables. It's been a while since I was back home in the country but I think it's been even longer that I order a beer and the bartender doesn't hound me for cash or a card right out of the gate like I'm a homeless looking guy off the street. I wasn't bothered at all here. Other businesses ought to take note that when your bartender interrogates you for payment right away, it has a tendency to make you feel a little patronized. When's the last time you ordered food at a restaurant and upon delivery of your meal they ask you for a security deposit? I mean I understand the mentality to some degree but guess what- it means something when you don't assume that your customers are going to screw you. I'm not sure how many of you in LA come from a small town but a little courtesy and trust goes a long way. Sunday ticket. Five games on at once. Taco lady making breakfast burritos. $2 PBRs- with some craft brews on tap I might add. Pool table and Internet juke box. No faux hawks or bags of douche. I can't vouch for the evening crew but this is a solid hometown kind of place to watch some sports on a Sunday. I hope they are the same way with hockey as they are with football. read more

I went in there this Sunday morning to watch a Bears game, and the lady running the bar definitely had an attitude not worth my time. When I asked if they had coffee or served food, she said "no" on both accounts, but suggested I get some from next store. Fair enough, but she then told me I'd better put a shot in the coffee if I wanted to watch games in her bar. Frankly, I would have been happy to ramp up to a Bloody Mary, but just thanked her and went elsewhere. I've probably spent over a grand at this place over the years. Movin' on, folks. Couldn't help myself from reviewing this place! It's my first-ever Yelp review. This place is an absolutely great bar experience for my, and anyone's, first time wandering alone in Long Beach. The friend I'm visiting suggested the place next door as a good sandwich spot (which it is, be sure to hit up Jack's), and when I spotted Derf's place next door (which has a great beer tap) I asked if it'd be ok if I ate my sandwich there. He said, "please do!" because he'd love lunch time company, which was so nice!! He was extremely nice and accommodating. He let me change the channel from sports to CNN and was enthusiastic about it, because he enjoys talking about current events. He continued with great customer service even while the bar got a little more busy. I cannot hold back on saying how nice of a first solo bar experience in a new city this was. I stopped in to check it out since it is A) no longer designated as a dyke bar, so I figured I could go in without getting the stink eye this time (what is up with that btw?? I have been in plenty of gay boy bars and women can go and enjoy a cocktail-or is that pussytail-without feeling like a red headed stepchild, but if a man walks into a "girl bar" they are automatically discriminated against?! for shame gurls...but l digress), and B) it is a nice little walk right around the corner from my place and the Reno Room ususally has a weird odor. I met Leah upon my arrival; cute, sassy chick behind the bar. She was very friendly and gave me the scoop about Baddeley's since they have only been open for a couple of months now. She told me that they have a "Mixed Tape" night on Tuesdays from 8pm to close where you can take your iPod in and they will play your songs for 20 minutes. Others have listed the happy hour here; basically 3-7pm daily with draft and shot specials, $4 wells, etc. Leah mentioned that they may try to do a Karaoke night (personally not a fan of such, and they have them all over town, but there is a fan base out there that may support that so l won't hate) It is a small place; l seem to recall an upstairs area when it was Club WOMEN ONLY Broadway, but l may be wrong (or was high or drunk, or got booted out too quickly to see anything clearly). One pool table, some tall rounds with chairs and a bar that runs about a half the length of the place and an internet jukebox. Overall, a cool new addition to the "Heights" neighborhood! read more

Nice little dive bar. We are here for football Sunday. There are seven TVs, all with the different games on. It's first come first served for which game's audio gets played. The bartender, Candace, is great. She hustles and is friendly and attentive. Nice crowd here rooting for different teams. Eight beers on tap and a full bar. They don't serve food but they have a free popcorn machine setup and the sandwich shop next door makes good food, which they will bring to you. We'll definitely be back! read more

I've been here 3 times and each time the different bartenders were rude. I asked for a whiskey recommendation once and she pointed at the shelf and said, "those are the whiskeys," and walked away. Last night I asked the bartender if she had a special cocktail she makes and she said, "Oh, God! Let me see your IDs." We showed her (we're 31), she checked, walked away to help 4 other people, came back and said, "did you figure out what you want yet?" This was early in the night, we were sober and she was not busy yet. The only good thing about this place is that PBR is $2. I have only ever come here to meet a friend who loves the place. I guess my friend doesn't ask the bartender any questions. But after consecutive bad experiences, I'm not coming back anymore. Reno Room is right across the street, their wine costs less, their cocktails never disappoint and the servers and bartenders are always friendly and helpful. read more
