I've been around and have seen Bafang Dumpling quite often in malls and shopping centers. Since they had one in the Brea Mall, I had to try them out. Ordered their Bafang Signature Noodle and Spicy Mala Noodle. Both dishes got very clumped together so I had to mix them for quite a while before eating. The Signature Noodle had a pretty good flavor but the Mala Noodle tasted quite similar but just a little spicy. They were pretty solid especially for the price for it being 2026 but nothing to rave about. The service was quite awful. I had looked at the menu beforehand so I knew what I was getting but there was no interaction at all. While waiting for my order, there were several people trying to order and the people working at the stall next door had to get their attention every single time. It's great food considering it's mall food but if they had this same service and food quality as a standalone restaurant, I wouldn't see them being open for as long as they have here. read more

I've ordered for pick up quite a few times and it's good every time. Our go to is the pork chop with braised pork belly rice. The girl working there at that time basically rudely told us that that's how it's usually made and my mom asked to speak to the manager. The manager asked the girl to add some and the girl pretty much just doused the noodles in sauce, literally multiple spoonfuls where it's pretty much inedible. We just said forget it. I stopped by for lunch a few days ago and got the signature noodles, potstickers, and spicy wontons. They make everything to order here like the other locations and all the food I had was delicious. The signature noodles had a good, chewy texture and absorbed the sauce well. The potstickers were crispy and had a good amount of filling inside and paired well with the sauce. The spicy wontons had a great kick of spice with their spicy sauce and the skin wasn't too chewy. Service was good and quick with my order taking less than 10 minutes and the cashier was friendly and helpful. These were quite good though the dumpling wrapper was a little thick, but also mall dumpling. There was some sweetness from the corn, so overall, this was a solid potsticker with an excellent filling to wrapper ratio. The spicy wontons ($5.50) were also quite tasty. You literally get a million of them in the small tub. I was surprised at how meaty these little guys were. There was some spice, but not enough to not order them if you're adverse to spice. Ridiculous Portion and Poor Customer Service at Bafang Dumpling (Brea Mall) We ordered two Pork Chop with Braised Pork Rice bowls at Bafang Dumpling in Brea Mall. One bowl came with three decent pieces of pork chop, while the other had only two small, thin pieces. To make matters worse, one of the bowls was even missing the Chinese sauerkraut that normally comes with the dish. (See photo -- this was taken before we touched or ate anything.) I asked the man with glasses at the counter (possibly the manager?) if the smaller portion was a mistake. To my surprise, he said the company had just changed the portion size, and that the bowl with two tiny pieces was now the correct serving -- while the one with three pieces had received an "extra by accident." I was shocked and asked again to confirm. He said yes, two pieces is now the standard. I even pointed out the difference by directly comparing the two bowls side-by-side -- showing him that one clearly had a more generous portion than the other. Despite the obvious comparison, he still insisted that the bowl with two small pieces was correct, and the other one was just a "bonus." I then pointed at the menu photo, which clearly shows a more generous serving, and highlighted how inconsistent the food was -- he simply responded, "I'm sorry. That's just how it is." Not only was the food underwhelming, but the dismissive attitude and lack of care or accountability from the staff made it even worse. No apology. No offer to make it right. No concern. Just "that's how it is." If it weren't for how absurdly small the two-piece pork chop portion was, and the missing side item, I wouldn't even bother wasting my time writing this review. But this level of service and quality deserves to be called out. Management seriously needs to improve -- both in portion control and basic customer service training. We won't be returning. Finally we got a new food court station to replace the former Pink's Hot Dog. I was excited to see this show up in the Brea Mall, because we desperately need more options here. It's never good when there's open spots and there's so many customers shopping here. I've tried their other location in the City of Industry, so wanted to see if they could pull off the same flavors in a 'fast food' setting. I ordered the pork chop with noodle + drink option. The other location had lemon tea as an option, but this location only had fountain drink sodas when the cashier asked which drink I wanted. Food was similar to the order I've had before, but something seemed off. The noodles were a but too soft, sticky, over done perhaps? Pork chop was 'okay'. Same price of $15 for this, and it is expensive for the value you get. The signature dumpling was warm/cold... not sure if it was reheated or what, but it wasn't a "must" get for their signature dish. Flavor was just 'okay'. The lady that helped at the cashier station seemed disinterested. No eye contact, and just sort grumpy with her position. I would expect that it being inside the mall, they would have someone be more excited and pleasant to work here, and invite the customers. It's a new location, why not be excited just a little? I appreciate that they have this as an option at the mall, but the flavors, the value, and the service isn't on par with what you could get in Rowland Heights area for similar food.
