There are not many Mongolian BBQ places anymore. Gengis Khan is worth the trip to the mall They have your standard selections of thin sliced meats and vegetables. You go through the line choosing what will go in your bowl. At the end of the line the staff adds your seasoning and you tell them how much spice. They also add the noodles. Then you watch as they expertly cook your food on the giant fry pan, walking around and moving the food with those big wooden sticks. As soon as it is done they place the giant portion of food into a to go box. Please put a couple of dollars on the tip jar :) Since this restaurant is in the mall I'm sure their rent and other expenses are high. So you know the food will be a little more expensive. It's 16.99 before tax for 1. The quality of the freshly cooked food is worth it and the portion is huge. You really could share with a few other people or take home for another meal. See you at the Brea Mall food court!

Almost no wait in line at 1:35 p.m. Love combining beef with cabbage, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, broccoli, baby corn, bean sprouts, and a few jalapeños. We ask for medium spicy sauce with two scoops of garlic. The guys working the grill always add extra noodles. I try to have cash on hand to tip them because they do a great job. Yummy and satisfying! Best eaten on site while sizzling hot, rather than taken home, in my opinion.

Of all the Mongolian bbqs, this one is a solid 5 stars. One, they don't care if you give your frozen meat a little loving to get more into the bowl. Anywhere else the meat is pre-measured or weighed by the ounce. The line is always long but it moves at a steady clip. $16.99 reg bowl, +$3 combo comes with rice, a drink, and soup. The soup was beef and vegetable; surprisingly good! I didn't understand eating rice with noodles. Ask them for extra noodles & they'll hook you up while your bowl is cooking. Be sure to add a nice tip for their generosity. Most of the customers before me did not which I was surprised but to each their own.

I don't know what it is about this place, but I just love it. I was so excited to see this in the mall since they're gone from everywhere. Line was super long, but worth it. There's an art to packing in all of the meat and veggies without it spilling over, and they're really generous with the helping of noodles they put on top also. The guys cooking even add more noodles when there aren't enough. Smells amazing and tastes even better.

Definitely a bit of a wait but worth the wait! Lots of options to choose from for protein and toppings. Reasonably priced ~$15 for a plate (enough for 2 meals)

Been coming to this place for awhile now and i could say it always hits. the food be coming out hot and fresh. service is always amazing, make sure to tip them as they'll hook you up with more noodles.

Mongolian grill is simply just delicious everywhere you go. I've never had any bad experiences anywhere including here! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is packed because a lot of people love the food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's easy to stuff the meat and veggies inside your bowl and really make the most out of it. But what really made me a happy customer is the hard working chefs who fry the food. They deserve tips! One of the guys noticed that my plate had a lot of meat and veggies. So he asked and offered me more noodles. I said yes! These chefs were so awesome and I feel like they don't get enough credit for their hard work. Thank you guys!

An old friend, usually met at the intersection of nostalgia & unintentional ambivalence. Someone you used to know, someone you used to see often and someone you used to love and perhaps still do. This is where I found myself on this fateful Sunday afternoon. Standing in front of this inferno of a sizzling grill where all good things are harmoniously combined. The combination of beef, pork, mushroom, cilantro, famous yellow noodles and the perfect amount of MSG. Don't worry boys and girls, what doesn't kill you only kills you later. Gengis Khan Mongolian BBQ, here next to me since 1999, although my faulty, aging memory feels like it's been here longer. Those long and memorable nights walking the mall was always accompanied by Gengis Khan, calling me with the alluring sound of the sizzling of culinary happiness. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Parking may be difficult, the wait will almost certainly be long, not to mention hot but your belly will be full of food and love once this king size portion of noodles is devoured.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That is until about four to five hours after you eat. This is when the MSG reminds you that we all have Gods we answer to. And the MSG Gods, although delicious are often cruel to the peace of your stomach. Be brave my friends!

Out of all the Mongolian places in any mall I've ever been to, this one is still the best. The portions are huge and if you fill your bowl with too many ingredients and they can't fit as much noodles on top, they'll add more noodles when they're cooking your food. You can tell that everyone who works here is always working hard. My only "complaint" is that they charge 10¢ for a to go bag when everyone else in the food court gives it to you for free but it's not that big of a deal.

    Sara G.

Love me some genius khan, shout out to them for doing it up with extra noodles bless! Only sad part is when other peoples toppings end up in yours i.e. mushroom and bean sprout sometime I gotta pick stuff out. Fire regardless.

The workers here are so nice! I got a build your own bowl and love that i get to stack my own bowl as some other mongolian grills will serve you instead. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The area was clean and there was a good assortment of veggies.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bag was an extra 10 cents but necessary for me since I'll be taking home leftovers and don't want any messes in the car. Total came out to $19 flat. Definitely my favorite location for mongolian noodles! Would come more often if I didn't live so far

Mongolian BBQ is a rare sight at the mall these days. Genghis Khan is a staple at Brea Mall and a must visit. Super efficient and great service with a smile. I'm still trying to master the art of stacking and I get a kick out of every single time.

I've been coming to this restaurant for years now and when I heard it was being remodeled I was a bit nervous the food quality might change but I was absolutely wrong. The bowls are still out of this world, offering four choices of meats and a ton of vegetables. Seemingly all the same staff works here and you can tell thes guys have honed their skills on the huge island grill. I love that I can customize my bowl exactly how I want it and it comes out perfect every time. The best restaurant in the Brea Mall hands down.

The build your own with the option of up to 5 meats... where is the meat?

I was surprised they weren't available when we looked through the ingredient selection, and I think they'd be a great addition to the menu. Me and…read moremy friend are not lamb fans and was a bit hesitant on ordering the food so we did hold off on ordering for ourselves. And said we decided to share and eat off of my two brothers plate before we decided to consider coming back or eating more. There was only one worker that was working at the time, but she did a phenomenal job, considering she was holding down the fort for the restaurant by herself. She also mentioned she doesn't like lamb, but she would eat the one here herself so it gave me a pretty good first impression thus far. We ordered the lamb skewers, grilled rib, shank over rice, homemade yogurt, and Cole slaw. Lamb Skewers - 4.5/5 the portion was very generous! $15 for 3 large skewers that was about 1.25 ft length each. Was perfectly grilled and did not taste gamey at all. I believe it was Szechuan pepper that seasoned the skewers. I didn't eat enough to recognize if there was any numbing, but the bite that I took was amazing. Outside was crunchy inside was chewy enough to enjoy, but not tough. Grilled rib - 5/5 I was very pleasantly surprised at how although it was very charred and crunchy in the outside that the inside was very soft and fatty. The meat literally fell off the bone. Again, no gaminess and very pleasant to enjoy. Shank - 5/5 I would have to say that this was the hero of the evening from all the dishes we ordered. The meat was extremely soft, fatty, and literally fell off the bone as I was holding it up. It was very similar to pork flavor and extremely enjoyable for me. On a separate note, I enjoyed that so much but because I had already eaten before this dinner, I came back a separate day to have that dish for myself. The rice seems to be cooked in some type of protein broth and if I had to guess it's probably lamb broth along with carrot. It also came with size of pickled items to lighten the fatness from the meat as well as a small bowl of lamb based soup. Homemade yogurt - 4/5 had a slight tartness to it and light sweetness, but was more leaning towards the sweet side of things. I enjoyed it with the dried raisins and the granola for texture and it was a pretty good ending to the entire meal. Coleslaw - 3/5 it tasted average and didn't seem to be anything special. Though it was good to have it along with all the other protein items to lighten up each bite.
