We visited the Placentia location for the first time after having been to another Carrot and Daikon before. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back. We started with the combination pho. It was flavorful and my young daughter really enjoyed it. While it was good, it was pretty standard compared to other pho we've had and didn't really stand out. We also ordered the chicken curry. The flavor was nice, but it was thinner than we expected. It was great for dipping the fresh baguette into, though. Speaking of the baguette--it was excellent: perfectly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely delicious. Even so, the curry probably isn't something we'd order again. The stars of the meal were definitely the bánh mì sandwiches. We ordered the crispy pork belly and the lomo saltado. We've had the pork belly bánh mì from another location before, and it's always one of our favorites. It was just as good this time. The lomo saltado was new for us, and it completely exceeded our expectations. The beef was incredibly tender and juicy, and the flavor was spot on. It was honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and it'll be a must-order every time we come back. We also noticed the bánh mì at this location seemed a little larger than the ones we've had at the other location. The service really made the visit even better. Vincent was genuinely friendly, professional, and attentive throughout our meal. He checked on us several times and, knowing it was our first visit to this location, made sure to ask how everything was. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back. One of the go-to chains for Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi), and one of the better ones. This location is unique because it also serves pho and has a sit-down setup. My go-to is the classic #1. I'm not a fan of the popular crispy pork belly #6, though I know a lot of people love it. I think the pork is too bulky for a sandwich, and this is for other banh mi places that serve something similar. If you're not eating right away, I'd recommend asking for the veggies on the side. Not sure why this place doesn't have higher ratings because their Classic Bahn Mi was one of the best I've had in a long time. Definitely better than Lees or other chains. The price point is a little higher like some people have mentioned, coming up to a little over $8 after taxes, but the portion was huge! It fed me for lunch and dinner! Was in the area and stopped by a little bit before closing to pick up a banh mi to-go. They serve pho and other dishes, but I was most interested in the sandwiches. Went with the classic cold cut - $7.99. Came with a large bag of pickled veggies on the side, which I appreciated. Banh mi itself wasn't bad. The bread wasn't the freshest, but there was a good chew to every bite. The sandwich seemed pretty good size as well. I would say slight overpowering of soy sauce with occasional bites, but the mayonnaise and pate made up for it. I enjoyed the cold cut, but I have to say that it's not my favorite when compared to my SGV favorites. Workers are super fast and efficient. Lots of seating inside the restaurant. Delicious! We love the Carrots & Daikon stores and was pleasantly surprised to find one in Placentia. Not only that, this one had pho. Came for some banh mi sandwiches and instead we sat down to try the pho. Unfortunately they ran out of meatballs, so opted for the brisket pho and combo pho. We also ordered a crispy pork spring roll, which was really filling and delicious. I got full after the spring roll. It was a spacious restaurant and plenty of parking in the crowded plaza. There's a tea place next door. Quick service and nice staff. The robo Waiter delivered our drinks, which was also really good. Ordered via their website for pick-up. They are located in the shopping center where Tony's Little Italy, Crunch Fitness and Grocery Outlet are at. If you enter on Placentia ave, they are directly to you're right. I picked up my order and they have a mid sized dining area. There are robots that take your order to your table. I ordered the crunch pork Banh mi and their Vietnamese iced coffee. The coffee is so good. It's got more of a hazelnut or nutty flavor that's less bitter than other places. I would definitely order a Vietnamese coffee from here versus a 7 Leaves or Lee's. The Banh mi I ordered was much bigger than the typical Banh mi I'd get at Chez Cali or Lee's. The crunchy pork has pork slices with the crunch skin attached. SOOO GOOD! OMG, I'm such a fan of this place after eating this. I ate half during the day and the other half after a night out and it hit the spot. Most times I'd get two Banh mi's (they usually have a buy 2 get 1 deal at Chez Cali) and would be full after eating 2, but just half off their Banh mi holds you over and if you're hungry, a whole Banh mi will put you in a coma. This is our favorite and one of the newest locations of Carrot & Daikon. The facility is fresh and has plenty of seating with restrooms available too. You can relax to enjoy your meal or make a take out pit stop in comfortable surroundings here. This is in contrast to other locations with take out only or no restrooms. What a great experience in amazing food we come up here to Orange County to go to our favorite Fish Store and we happen to stop by this pho restaurant and we are so happy we did! Now THIS is how you make traditional Vietnamese flavors taste new and refreshing. Carrot & Daikon is near the entrance of a shopping plaza and is the first thing that catches your eye. You come in to a casual dining area with upbeat music playing in the background. I was immediately greeted by an employee who seemed ecstatic to take my order. We ordered a #2 and #11, with the #11, a lomo saltado banh mi, catching our eye. We were assigned a table and brought water almost immediately. The #2, cha luo, was solid. Good flavors with a great ratio of meat to veggie. It isn't anything groundbreaking or revolutionary, but it'll do the job. I think next time I'd try something different. The #11, however, was the highlight. Delicious, tender meat with flavorful grilled onions and the perfect amount of meat/veg to bread ratio. I loved this sandwich, and would come back just for this. It sits at just under $10, and is some of the best "bang for your buck" food I've ever had. Overall, I'd give this place an 8.5/10. You can tell the workers here care about the product and their service. They're currently in their soft opening phase and the interior has a dark, industrial aesthetic with a lot of modern touches. The booth I sat in was very spacious and comfortable. I tried the classic banh mi and the baguette was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I typically order grilled pork, but I ended up liking the cold cuts. I also tried the combo pho, and it came with a hefty portion of meat - no complaints. I wish there were more tripe, though, and I don't remember getting any tendon. It's soft opening so the place is new and it's a casual setup where you make your order when you come in and will tell you where to sit if dining in. The staff here are friendly, but it seemed they were understaffed for the dining hall as there was only one staff available to clean up the tables and was quite behind on clearing out the dirty plates on tables. This was my first time trying this chain and my husband and I were craving for pho that day so we ordered our own. Food got ready relatively fast as most pho places do. When we tried the broth first, we noticed that the soup was lukewarm. We both had raw steak and it took a really long time for the beef to cook in the broth. Taste wise, it's pretty typical pho, nothing special: not bad but not really good. The amount of noodles to meat was quite different. They gave a lot of meat but less noodles. Sounds great? It's not good when you have raw meat still sitting in the broth that's just not ready to eat, so you eat the noodles and the other brisket first. I ended up not finishing this, left most of my steak because it took too long to cook in my cold broth. This is disappointing considering that this is a soft opening. You should be doing your best during this time. We won't be getting pho here next time but we may give one more shot by trying their Bahn mi instead. We noticed the menu selection was much larger than the pho, so yeah it seems this place might be more known for their sandwiches. It's nice to finally have a banh mi spot in North OC. Carrot & Daikon recently rebranded from the former Pho-Natic, so we were excited to give it a try. We called in an order for four banh mi's and were quoted a 25-minute wait, which ended up being accurate. We tried the #1 Classic, #6 Crispy Pork Belly, and #7 Grilled Pork. The baguette itself was delicious -crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Unfortunately, the sandwiches overall were a bit underwhelming. There was an excessive amount of aioli (not typically common in banh mi), which made them overly saucy. The crispy pork belly was our favorite of the three but we'd definitely request light aioli next time. The grilled pork, which is usually my go-to, was extremely chewy so we ended up not finishing it. Service was friendly, though the takeout process could use some improvement. We waited near the cashier and noticed our bagged order sitting in the pickup area behind her without being called out. We had to ask to confirm it was ours. It does appear they are in "soft opening" phase though so I'll have to give it another try soon. Side note: the floor tiles get very slippery when wet! I'm so happy they opened a location in Placentia! I've been to the Westminster and Garden Grove locations many times prior. My favorite type of bánh mì would probably be the bánh mi heo quay (crispy pork belly) one. I've also tried the cha lua one and the bo nuong sa one and I really like those as well. I think the taste is very consistent with the other existing locations - if anything maybe a little bigger which is great. The staff was very sweet checking up on us while we were dining in. This is a very large location. Nice and clean. The workers there were nice and friendly. But the place gets perfect stars because that #6 is just plain FIRE! I was excited to see a Carrot & Daikon open up in north OC as I'm always on the hunt for a good banh mi. They have a variety of sandwich options but I decided to try their Grilled Chicken ($8.49) and Lomo Saltado ($9.49). Upon ordering at the counter, we were told by the individual at the register that they were out of their pickled carrots and daikon which was surprisingly given their namesake. However, they did say they had a batch that would be ready in about 20-30 minutes if we didn't mind waiting. We decided to wait and I was thankful they had plenty of indoor seating and tables available. The wait was well worth it as the sandwiches were delicious. The Grilled Chicken was tender and flavorful and my favorite of the two. I enjoyed the flavors of the Lomo Saltado as well, but found the beef to be a bit chewy and hard to eat in a sandwich. The bread had a crispy exterior but not the kind that cuts the roof of your mouth so that was appreciated as well. I did come again a couple days after my first visit and it did take some time for our two sandwiches to be completed. We were told it would be about a 15 minute wait, but it ended up being about 25 minutes. Service was a bit slow both times, but friendly. This week, we were grabbing coffee from Peaberry, and noticed a "Soft Opening" sign out front for Carrot & Daikon Banh Mi. Upon first glance, we were not going to grab anything to try since we live near Rowland Heights and there's plenty of pho restaurants there, including the newly opened PhoHolic but curiosity got the best of us. Once we stepped in, the line to order was quite long, and a steady stream of customers kept coming in to order the entire time we were waiting for our order to-go. There were also plenty of tables occupied by customers. One orders at the counter and they bring your order to you. #8 Char Xiu Banh Mi $8.49 #1 The Combination Pho $16.95 Peach Gum Dessert Their Banh Mi was also larger than we expected. The bread was soft (yes, not the traditional French baguette), but sometimes I love a softer bread. The flavors of the Banh Mi were rich, and very flavorful. Leftovers were even still tasty the next day or two. The Combination Pho was packaged extremely well. Even though the blood leaked out of the bag, the divider did its job and kept it from the pho, until the soup was able to be poured into the bowl. All the meat and ingredients were packaged separately, and there was a lot of meat. Believe me. We still had meat leftover. At first glance, the price looked high but with the portion and amount of ingredients, it was well worth it. We had never a Peach Gum dessert, but the photo was quite enticing. The dessert is from Cha2Cha, which of course is a $1 cheaper than getting it from Carrot & Daikon Banh Mi, but it is okay since we are rarely in the Anaheim area. It is okay for Carrot & Daikon Banh Mi to make a bit of a profit. The Peach Gum dessert was the perfect sweetness, and the ingredients seen inside the dessert was quality. Everything tasted delicious and they have sold us, who were skeptics of ordering Vietnamese food in Placentia. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I'm happy that this location opened. I've been to both of their Westminster locations. I don't have to make a 10 mile detour just to get their banh mi's anymore. The time and gas saved by coming to this one is a good trade off for me. As soon as I walked in, I knew this place was different. They had tables like a real restaurant. They have pho on their menu that I want to try one day. Their banh mi was not quite as good as the other locations I've visited. Their special sandwich had plenty of pate in it. The meats were normal. The bread seemed hard and didn't seem the same as the other location. I'm glad they opened. I only have to make a 2 mile detour to come here. Grilled Pork Banh Mi: 5/5 Pretty big portion and not too expensive. The baguette was toasted to perfection--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Combination Pho -- 4/5 Pretty simple and good. The noodles were a bit clumped together, but overall still solid. They have a quick survey you can fill out for a free Sprite or Diet Coke, which is a nice bonus. I probably wouldn't come here just for the pho, but I'll definitely be back for the banh mi. Service was really nice and attentive. The interior is clean and spacious. Been here before when they were a diff business (it was a hot pot place and after that it was another Vietnamese restaurant). Anyway for some reason service tonight was EXTREMELY slow. I'm sure they were busy in the kitchen but most places you get pho, comes out within 5 minutes. I ordered the #1 and it literally had 3 bites of BROKEN noodles and the rest was meat. Normally I have lots of noodles left over but the portion of this one was really little. They had a sign up saying they're going to be changing to Carrot and Daikon Banh Mi shop. Not sure if it's the same owner. Been to the drive through in garden grove and their banh mi is really good. So hopefully, this one will be just as good. Disappointed to say the least. Probably won't go here again until they change business. read more

Last time I was here was when it was PhoNatic. Guess they rebranded and I Came in on 12-12-25, and they still have the soft opening sign. I had no idea there were so many of these carrot & daikon restaurants all over so cal and even one in Nevada. I ordered the #1 classic and #6 crispy skin pork belly banh mi. These were so different than banh mi's I've had at other places. Just packed full of ingredients and these sandwiches were huge and they didn't skimp on the toppings at all. Really nice bite when you get some of the protein with the nice tanginess of the pickled vegetables and the nicely toasted baguette. Pork belly bahn mi was so good and it's a great bite when you get a bite of the crispy skin. The classic was also good, but they do put on a lot of the pate, so if you don't like that, you might want to tell them to go a little lighter on that. Pretty good price also for a big sandwich that you can split between 2-3 people. I might come back and try some of the pho again, but the sandwiches seem to be the star here and they are legit. So many to choose from, so I'm already excited to go back and try some more. read more
