I would do 3.5 if I could. Curbed the appetite of dumplings. Wonton soup was delicious. Noodles were decent. Clean restaurant. Cashier lady was very nice. I asked her whose playlist was on because Marshmallow - Alone came through the speakers and I was vibing while I was eating. 3.5 because inside a busy plaza.
Bafang is a Taiwanese restaurant chain with branches in Hong Kong and the United States. I happened to spot the restaurant from the street and decided to have lunch here. I ordered on a kiosk and was surprised when it didn't ask for tip. I went with combo #1- Signature Potstickers (12 pcs) + Soup/Drink. The pork and cabbage potstickers were ok. I would like them to be crispier. I enjoyed the hot & sour soup as it was perfect for the cold rainy day. My bf ordered the pork chop with braised pork belly rice. He enjoyed the pickled mustard greens that came with it.
Bafang Dumplings serves Taiwanese comfort foods, which includes dumplings, wontons, noodles, rice dishes and a few soups. The restaurant is clean and very open. It is a good size with ample seating but there were very few customers. As I ordered take out I don't have much to say about the service except they said "hello', handed me my bag, and went about their business. Not super friendly or welcoming but not rude. I ordered three dishes none of which were bad but not impressive either. The dumplings were dry (staff didn't include any sauce packets nor did they offer any) and the wrapper was too thick for the amount of meat and cabbage inside. The hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour. The beef noodle soup was probably the better dish. However there was very little beef and what was there was tough and chewy and not digestible. The broth had decent flavor and I liked the pickled vegetables on top. Overall the food is okay but not enough to return to.
The restaurant is nice and spacious and clean. The cashier was very helpful with helping me order. I had a pork cutlet over rice bowl and it was delicious. I'll try the noodles next time.
Bafang Dumpling is a restaurant chain focuses on dumplings and classic Taiwanese comfort food, delivering a generally solid but not standout experience. The dumplings are decent overall. The wrappers are a highlight--nicely cooked with a silky texture and enough firmness to hold their shape well. The filling, however, could be more satisfying. While it isn't dry, it lacks juiciness and depth, and I found myself wishing the meat had a meatier, more robust bite. Their signature noodle dish, a take on Dan Dan noodles, is another mixed bag. The sauce is rich and pleasantly nutty, which works well at first, and the noodles themselves are cooked al dente. Unfortunately, the aftertaste didn't quite sit right with me and detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. All in all, it's a reliable spot for Taiwanese-style dumplings and noodles, with good technique on textures, but the flavors could use a bit more punch to really stand out.
Quick easy lunch option. Open early and very clean. Patient staff. Order first and self serve. Consistent food quality. You can purchase full bags of frozen dumplings to cook at home. Lots of combo options.
I ordered the #4 combo with comes with signature noodles and 6 pc gyoza. I also got an appetizer from the grab-n-go section next to the cashier. Order at the counter, get a buzzed, and pick a seat. There's free water at the sauce station where you can also DIY your own dipping sauce with soy sauce, vinegar, garlic sauce, and chili sauce. The signature noodles I didn't like the taste of until I added extra vinegar, garlic sauce and chili sauce. The flavor profile just wasn't for me, but that's why it's nice that they have the sauce bar. The noodles were well cooked and texture was nice. It doesn't come with any meat or anything, just green onion. The signature gyoza was pretty good! It has cabbage and pork filling. Kind of oily but eh most gyozas are. The cold side dish was just ok. Don't get the ones with the tofu strings since there was little to no flavor. Very bland. The peanuts were surprisingly good (good texture, salted) but... I mainly got it for the tofu strings. Overall it's not gonna be the best meal ever but it's solid for a quick bite at a reasonable price. There was parking when I went but I wouldn't be surprised if it fills up quick due to all the popular places in the plaza.
We came back for dinner the other night. Husband had the beef noodle soup which is delicious. There are 2 versions of it, and he had the spicier one. It had a generous portion of noodles and tender beef and a couple pieces of turnip. I ordered their pork chop combo which came with a serving of their old fashioned noodles. Pork chop came out first, and we finished it before the noodles were ready. The old fashioned noodles are better than the signature noodles in my opinion. It has a soy sauce flavor as opposed to a sesame flavor. Everything is self service where you order at counter and wait for your buzzer to go off. You pick up your own tray of food and buss your own table when done. There were a few newer dishes on the menu. Prices have gone up since last time we were there. They close pretty early and started locking doors promptly at 9 pm.
I was craving for kimchi & pork dumplings, I ordered the dumplings and pot stickers, both were good, fast service!
TL;DR - the number 8 comes with lemon black tea, old fashion noodle, and bafang pork chop. It's good! The tea is okay. The service at bafang is always decent. They're professional and take their time explaining the different options. They also have a kiosk if you don't want to wait. The typical wait time for your food is about 10-15 min here. Ambiance is more on the quiet/mild noise side. Never had an issue holding a conversation. The food was good. Enough to make you full or even question about saving the rest for later. The noodles are yummy but I can't seem to put my finger on the sauce. The pork chop is delicious too. It always reminds me of Taiwan. It's on the thinner side but this is probably intentional. The drink that comes with it is lemon black tea. It's decent but I wish I could swap it out for one of my other favorites. Either way, it's nice that they include a drink with this :)
Husband recently went here for lunch, and brought me back some of his leftovers, so keep that in mind for this review. Would definitely like to go back to try their food hot and fresh in person. That being said, the wonton soup was tasty! A little bit oily, but light and flavorful. The wontons were soft and juicy, and also had a good flavor to them. The potstickers had a great silky wrapping, and again juicy meat on the inside. Definitely tasty and solid food. I checked the prices online for this particular store and I'd say it's very affordable especially for what you get. Can't wait to try their other menu items like the noodles in the future.
Noodles were lacking some flavor 7/10. I was hoping the noodles would come with some type of sauce on the side like chili oil
Noodles tasted like dough. Maybe needed some chili sauce to add flavor. The potstickers were good and savory. The dipping sauce was really good.
My first time coming here. I ordered the Mala Beef Noodle Soup. The broth was flavorful and complex but light. You can taste the spices, but not overpowering. Loaded with green onions and cilantro and with just the right amount of kick. The noodles were firm, had good consistency, perfectly cooked. Loaded with big, chunky pieces of beef. My only complaint was the ratio of noodles to broth. I wish they had given more noodles. I also tried the dumplings with cabbage and pork. It was very juicy, and moist. They have different sauces available to build your concoction. Friendly service and very well maintained dining area with plenty of seats available. read more
Was invited to eat lunch here on a rainy January weekend day for my belated birthday lunch. It was tricky to find parking as this eatery is in a plaza with Panda Express and other restaurants. I was fortunate to find a spot. The service is through a kiosk and you get a number. Our order had taken quite a but of time so they gave a complimentary tea for the wait. Even though it was a rainy day, this place was packed. I liked the dumplings we got. Pork and a veggie ones. The hot and sour soup hit the spot. Overall, everything was okay but, I think for dumplings I would try Din Tai Fung that my yelp friends rave about. read more
I've always love Taiwanese potstickers, and the ones here tasted just like the ones in taiwan. Unlike most of the potstickers else, the wraps of Taiwanese ones are thinner. They were steamed and pan fried just right, so yummy and crunchy. Love how they have combos, so you can get dumplings/potstickers/noodles with soup/drinks. This store is mostly self served, got our number called relatively fast. Everything we tried including the signature potstickers, corn chowder and hot and sour soup were so good. Will definitely come back whenever we are in the area. read more
For a Saturday rainy dinner, it was busy! Not too busy as there was still available seating. It's definitely a fast casual spot with lots of clean seating. The parking lot gets crowded because of the Panda Express and Shin-Sen-Gumi but we've always been able to park close by. I gave this place 4 stars because of the AFFORDABLE PRICE! I got the #6 to try all three different steamed dumplings (4 of each) and it came with either hot and sour soup, clam chowder, or black tea. That's 12 dumplings and a large soup for $13.50! The FOOD itself was closer to 3 STARS. I liked the kimchi dumplings the most, it was like medium spicy level. The signature dumplings were my second favorite, they were good but I've definitely had better. My least favorite were the dumplings with corn/cabbage/pork. For the price, I'll come back to try the rest of the menu. read more

It's okay. I wanted to give this place a try since it's always on the way home from eating in Gardena. My husband and I got the order #4 with their signature noodles and pot stickers. I felt there was something missing in the noodles. Maybe a protein would help or adding another ingredient. The taste is very nutty and feels like there's something heavy mixed in the noodles. I saw people mention peanut butter or peanuts. If you have an allergic sensitivity please beware. The pot stickers were good. They're weren't the best but I'm willing to give the kimichi and pork ones a try next time. Maybe they weren't my type of dumplings and needed more flavor. The location is pretty spacey and located in a small plaza near other restaurants. The place looked clean for the most part and the staff was nice. I'd go to try other options in the future. read more
We came here upon recommendation from a friend and I'm so glad she took us here! It's like a fast casual version of a dumpling place and it was so perfect for a cold winter night. It was pretty busy for a Saturday at dinner time. We were lucky to grab a table! They only had one high chair unfortunately but it was doable. It's a very casual vibe since you order at the counter and then your buzzer goes off when the food is ready. The sauces are self serve also, I loved the garlic and the vinegar sauces! I like that the menu here could be made into family style or you can order combo meals if you just want it for yourself or 1-2 people. We ended up ordering a couple combo meals and adding on sesame noodles too. There are also some cold sides available to purchase in the refrigerated case so I picked the cucumber and radish. It was refreshing to eat with all of the carbs. All of the dumplings were delicious but I'd have to say the kimchi potstickers were my favorite! The hot and sour soup was also flavorful without being too salty. I could imagine myself eating the potstickers and soup on a cold day! My husband loved the corn chowder (clearly he loved it so much that I didn't even get to try it!). They also have boba drinks here at a very reasonable price - under $5 for the large cup size! I didn't get one since I planned to get some after but my friend's oolong looked yummy! Will definitely keep this spot in mind for the next time we need something fast or takeout in the area! read more
Decided to dine here with my brother who lives in Torrance. Bafang is a famous chain in Taiwan, and already has a number of locations in SoCal. The parking lot for this Gardens branch is not big though I was able to find a spot on a Sunday night. The interior is small-ish, though has several tables for dining in. It's fast casual format so you order and pay at the cashier and are given a buzzer, which will buzz when your food is ready. Prices are reasonable and portions decent. The menu consists of noodles and dumplings. While all the dishes were not bad, it felt like an off day on my visit. The potstickers were not fried nearly as crispy as they ought to have been, and some of the noodle sauces were a bit too sweet for my tastes. The mala beef noodle soup was not as spicy as it looked, and the noodles in the soup were a bit overcooked and not as chewy as the noodles in the dry noodle dishes (they are the same base noodles). Fortunately, the cold appetizers were tasty, as were the soups. Overall, a good value and solid dumpling house, with room for improvement. read more

My first time trying Bafang Dumpling as these dumpling and noodle stop has been opening up across SoCal and it was everything I expected and more! Since I was new to the menu, I figured the best way to try the menu would be to Order the combo sets for both dumplings and noodles. Would either come with the option of soup (like corn soup or hot and sour soup) or black, lemon tea plus the pork chop. The price for these sets is honestly really reasonable for the amount of food that you get. it's hard to say, which one was my favorite between the dumplings and the noodles but I think I have to go with the noodles because they really exceeded my expectations for them. You have the choice to switch up the noodle for the combos so I went with their suggested signature, one that was both savory and just a little spicy. The dumpling flavors were also really well balanced and not too oily yet. Still has that nice crispy skin on the outside. The restaurant space is pretty big and can seat a good amount of people. Because the restaurant is still pretty new it was also really nice, clean, and modern. The staff was extremely friendly and service was quick. I definitely will be coming back again in the future to try the other flavors. read more
Food was decent here. I got the Dumpling combo which let me have 4 of each of their Dumpling flavors. I was hoping for more flavor. Nothing spectacular here, but still an okay meal if you like light flavor. They had multiple sauces that were also light on the flavor. I may need to try their Potstickers to see if having it fried makes a flavor difference. The Hot and Sour Soup had lots of ingredients and they didn't skimp on them. Like the dumplings, there wasn't as much flavor here as I'd expect. Both items had a good amount of food for the serving. Parking is easy as it is located on the non-busy side of a shopping complex. Service was mediocre. When I was asking about their options, the servers weren't really making it seem like they believed in their own product. There was a subtle indifference in my interaction. The restaurant was clean with lots of seating. Not sure if I would go back for what I ordered, but I may still give those Potstickers a try. read more

There are more than 1000 locations of Bafang in Taiwan, so we're lucky to have two U.S. locations in LA County of this popular dumpling place. They specialize in potstickers which is my fave item here, but the boiled dumplings are a close second. The boiled dumplings are perfectly formed into the lucky Chinese coin shape so it's perfect for an auspicious meal! I love two things about Bafang: 1) very clean eating. Dumpling and potsticker fillings are simple like the cabbage and meat ones I make at home 2) excellent value. Prices are low and you can get an order of 6 or 12 dumplings. Great prices on other items like their corn soup, signature noodles (spicy!), and Taiwan style pork chop. For this newest location I love how fresh clean and new it is inside. You walk up and order at the counter or via a kiosk and then find your own seat (plenty of tables). In a shopping plaza next to Shinsengimi and Panda Express Drive Thru. read more

Solid chain that satisfies the cravings! This is the 3rd location that I've tried, and the food is consistently good. The signature and kimchi potstickers are tasty, crispy, not too oily and the wrappers aren't too thick. Can't go wrong with the old fashioned noodles, the noodles have a great chew with a nice refreshing taste from the cilantro and scallions. The Taiwanese pork chop is a must, and I get it every time. Pork chop is juicy, the outside crust is light and crispy and the flavors are on point! The signature spicy noodle is good too if you like sesame and mala chili spice. Default spice is always on the mild side but you can always ask for more mala chili oil sauce on the side. read more

We tried all of their signature dishes - signature potstickers, dumplings, noodles, kimchi potstickers, chili garlic wontons and braided beef noodle soup. I think in terms of food, my opinion might be based on the fact that i don't know Taiwanese food very well. We liked the signature potstickers the most and didn't love the others.. signature noodles tasted sesame based, thick and bit spicy. Braised beef noodle soup broth was nice but the meat could have been softer. Service was very good. They gave us wrong potstickers so they let us eat what we had and immediately made us the right potstickers. Place is clean with lots of seating. I like that everything comes out in to-go containers so it's easy to take leftovers home. Parking was bit tough on a Sunday evening probably because of Shin sen gumi next door.. Not sure if we'll try again but glad that we tried this time!!! read more

I used to go to Bafang every other week when I lived in Taiwan, so I was so glad to hear that they had a location in Gardena! Since it's a fast casual chain restaurant, you order first and then find a table. It was pretty busy on a Sunday during lunchtime, but my group was able to order pretty quickly. We got our food shortly after. We tried a lot of different items, but the potstickers are what Bafang is famous for. I personally love the kimchi ones. I liked my spicy noodle dish and the chili oil wontons as well. My family said they'd do without the pork chop next time. Love that they have combo options too. Can't wait to come back! read more
The Bafang Noodle empire has more than a thousand restaurants in Asia and now has about a half-dozen locations in California. In addition to sitting down inside the restaurant, they also have a small case where you can buy frozen dumplings and other small dishes. The dumplings were very good. The best way to enjoy them is to order the Dumpling Bowl, which offers three different dumpling flavors. Be sure to pick up some sauces at the sauce and water counter, as these add to the taste. The Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup looked to be a new menu item. Warm, with chunks of quality beef and vegetables, with a beef broth. Very filling. Many of the items were adequate, but didn't impress me. The noodles were decent, but not special in any way. The potstickers were average. The Fried Pork Chop very dry. The Chili Pepper Fried Chicken average. The Corn Chowder was good by Asian standards, but I prefer the more American Southwest Corn Chowder version, so the Bafang equivalent seemed thin in comparison. The teas and mochas are a bit pricy, but good. Special credit should be given to the fact that they offer two sizes of quality straws. One a bit narrower and one a bit wider, optimized in size for the type of drink that you might order. Service usually is fairly quick. When you order at the counter they will provide a small remote control disc to tell you when your order is ready. read more
I ordered the signature Bafang noodle, wonton soup, and soy tiger boba. I was not impressed with the bafang noodle. The noodles were kind of bland with a slight hint of spiciness. The noodles were also all stuck together. The wonton soup, however, was very delicious! It was light and flavorful. Lastly, the boba was horrible. The soy flavor was okay but the boba itself was very chewy. Definitely would not recommend the boba here. Service was quick and the ambiance is really nice. The place is clean and there is plenty of indoor seating. There are also self-serve condiments. I would only come back for wonton soup. read more
Omg, i came to visit a friend out here. And we chose Bafang again. I could never get over the spicy wonton!!!! So so delicious!!!! And now the new pork chop with rice made my day!!!!! I love love this restaurant. Best decision everrrrr!!!! read more
Stopped over at the hottest new dumpling spot in Gardena. Located in a strip mall next to another tasty spot. When you walk in, it's lots of light and space. Or you have an option of using the kiosk or stand in line. The menu is located above the cashier. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable enable to answer questions. I picked up the signature and plant based dumplings. Once you pay for your order and give you an electronic number buzzer while you wait. there's a station with all sauces to pack for your dumplings. my favorite is the garlic sauce but they're all awesome. . Dumplings are fresh, made to order and very tasty . If you get a combo, the Corn chowder is really good. read more
Great service and the side dishes were delicious. However the dumpling itself was a bit disappointing because the time when I get mine it's already cold inside. The sauces were great and it's one of the good places to try authentic Taiwanese potstickers. read more

I actually very much liked the food from Bafang Dumpling! I got the signature noodles and they were very peanut-y and i LOVE peanut sauces so it was good to me. At the beginning it had a bit of a spicy kick but nothing crazy. I ended up adding Garlic Sauce, Soy Sauce, and Chili sauce to noodles to make it even better, but alone it was still so good. I also got the spicy wontons and was scared since I didn't see any reviews on it. They were so good! A good mix of sweet and a little spicy. Probably would have loved more spice but it was so good! I ordered online and picked up and it was quick and easy. I can't really speak for the interior but there was lots of seating and looked like a clean environment. Will 100% be returning! read more
I missed the Grand Opening, but am so glad hubby & I came to try Bafang Dumpling on Aug. 17, 2023! It's a pretty casual dining experience. You can order at the counter or at the kiosks. You get a pager if you order at the counter. Either way, you need to pick up your food when it's ready. You can also order ahead online at www.bafangdumpling.com and skip the line! It does get pretty busy here. We ordered Combos #4 & #6 ($12.25 each), and the Soy Wild Mango drink ($4.75). #4 is the Bafang Signature Noodle & Signature Potstickers. The Bafang Signature Noodle has a chili pepper next to it, so you might notice a little kick of heat. I preferred the Signature Potstickers which have Pork & Cabbage in them. I can't recall having rectangular potstickers before, but nonetheless, they were delicious! The crunchy, crispy bottom of the potstickers got my approval! #6 Bafang Dumpling Bowl & choice of Soup or Drink, we chose the Corn Chowder Soup. The Dumpling Bowl comes with 4 of each variety of dumpling which are: Bafang Signature, Kimchi & Pork, and Corn & Chicken. I liked the Corn & Chicken Dumpling the best. I enjoyed the Corn Chowder Soup. It was piping hot and was good for a break from the noodles & dumplings. Near the main doors is an area where you can grab condiments. They have Chili Sauce, Soy Sauce, Black Vinegar, Sesame Oil, & Garlic Sauce. They sell pre-packaged foods in the refrigerated case near the counter where you order. You can also purchase bags of frozen dumplings! Even though the restaurant has a decent amount of seating, it can become difficult to find a table. We were pretty much done eating when we noticed people waiting for tables, so we hurried up and let others come take our place. There's free parking in the shared lot. But, with Shin-Sen-Gumi and Panda Express as their neighbors, finding parking could be a task. I would return to try other items on the menu! read more
Came here on opening day and was not disappointed! To be honest I get that its "fast food" dumplings but they taste just as great as any I have ever had. The original noodles are absolutely amazing and the great part is they have many options to pick from. I also really enjoy their Mango drink (which you can choose to get with boba). There is plenty of seating and parking at this place which is a huge plus. Staff has always been really helpful and friendly in terms of helping provide great service. I look forward to coming here often. read more

I really enjoyed the food, especially the signature noodle. I ordered the combo that came with the noodles and dumplings. They had a nice sauce bar that included sriracha, soy sauce, vinegar, and garlic sauce. The garlic sauce was great with the noodles. Only downside was the wait after we order our food even though the place was empty. read more

I've only gotten food to go from here twice and both times were positive experiences. I've had the wonton soup, hot & sour soup and signature dumplings. All were delicious. The wonton soup tasted authentic and the hot & sour soup had a lot of veggies and tofu and was so good to eat on a cold day. The dumplings were tasty and paired well with soy sauce and their dark vinegar. Prices were reasonable as well. read more
Bafang Dumplings just had their grand opening this past Friday and I may have just found my new favorite dumpling place! This new location is at the Gardena Markeplace on Artesia Blvd. As the name indicates; this spot specializes in dumplings! They've got three types of dumplings; the Bafang Signature, Kimchi and Pork and Corn Chicken. They also have potstickers in the same flavors. Dumplings and potstickers are available in 6 pieces ($5.25-$5.50) or 12 pieces ($10-$10.50). Aside from dumplings; they have soups; hot and sour and corn chowder ($3.50 for small and $7.95 for large) and noodles; Bafang signature, Old fashioned noodle, Sesame noodle, Mala noodle and Tawainese beef noodle soup ($6.95 -$ 17.95). There are also have various drinks from teas to soy milk ($3.95 to $4.75). Lastly they have some takeout frozen dumplings as well as ready to go sides such as Taiwanese cucumber salad! I would recommend getting their combo dishes because it gives you a chance to try a variety of their dishes! I got the Combo 6 which is the Dumpling bowl (which comes with 4 each of their different dumplings) + Corn Chowder soup and my friend got the Combo 4 which is the Bafang Signature Noodle + 6 pieces of the Signature Potsticker! For combos; if you don't want the soup; you can get a Lemon Black Tea. Both combos were $12.25. Wow! It was such an impressive meal that was well worth the value! I was amazed with the dumpling bowl and really loved how it came with all of the different dumpling types! The Bafang Signature dumpling was my favorite flavor. I did enjoy though both the Kimchi and Pork and Corn and Chicken. These dumplings each respectively lived up to the flavors of their name. The potstickers were also a yummy treat as was the Corn chowder soup! Lastly the Bafang Signature noodle had a nice spicy kick to it! Visited during their grand opening weekend and tried the following items: *Signature Potstickers *Kimchi & Pork Potstickers *Beef Noodle Soup *Sesame Noodle *Old Fashioned Noodle *Pork Chop *Chili Pepper Fried Chicken *Hot & Sour Soup *Wonton Soup *Spicy Wontons All were tasty! I recommend the signature and kimchi & pork potstickers, sesame noodle, pork chop and wonton soup. You can order at the counter, kiosk and online. Most items were served in takeout containers even for dine in except for the beef noodle soup. You can create your own concoction at the self-serve sauce bar (soy sauce, garlic soy, vinegar, sesame oil, chili sauce, etc). They also sell frozen dumplings (20 or 50 pieces per bag). The price is reasonable. Traditional side dishes are also available for purchase located by the cash register. Prices varies depending on the color of the sticker. Seating: around 10 or so tables and bar seating. Not ideal for big groups as the biggest table can probably fit 4-5 ppl max. Parking: plenty of spaces available in the shared lot. Food: average. I think everything was pretty good, I wouldn't say it was significantly tasty. Potstickers tasted like potstickers, corn chow tasted a bit sweet. Service was okay, the receptionist never came to clean the table for us. Ambiance is quick grab and to go or quick eat. I would recommend for quick grab for a good price. read more
A clean and efficient place we happened to stop by after a short morning appointment. We ordered #1 and #6 with a side of their signature noodles and a Soy Awesome drink. For the price of it all, would Def recommend as they all tasted delicious with decent sized portions. The noodles were very well flavored with a hint of spice. The dumplings were also good with varied fillings. My young child liked them along with the pot stickers. I really liked their corn chowder - more than their hot & sour soup. If we are to come by this area again, we would consider returning. read more
This place more like a 4.5 stars. I love their wonton soup! I can eat that everyday. I always end up buying the same combo. Signature potstickers and the wonton soup. Potstickers are good too, but had better. I highly recommend their wonton soup. My husband always order the steamed dumplings and the corn chowder and he loves it. Pleasantly surprised by our visit. The Signature potstickers and dumplings were the clear favorites of our group and most standard. The Signature noodles had mixed reviews, from too spicy to too peanut-y. The menu could probably benefit from including information (e.g. Signature dumplings have pork and Napa cabbage, the Old Fashioned Noodle has bean sprouts and cilantro, etc.). The online ordering website has WAY more information (not sure if that's the same as the kiosk ordering). The Kimchi & Pork dumplings were interesting if you like kimchi, but just OK. Recommend getting the 5-piece if you want to taste it, we would've had difficulty finishing 10 pieces. The Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup is pricey at $16.75, but was a big hit with us. It was a large bowl that had marinated daikon pieces (super soft and the ideal texture IMHO), roasted beef and cilantro and bok choy. Service was relatively quick, and this is very much a casual/fast-food type feel with food being served already in take-out boxes. They accept Apple Pay/credit card taps and give you a buzzer for you to come back to the counter when your order is ready. There was a bit of a line to place the order with a cashier, so if you want to avoid it would placing an online order through their website, or using the one self-service kiosk next to the doors at the entrance if it is available. Things would probably go smoother/faster if they had additional kiosks for people to place orders. Personal pet peeve of mine is when the workers have not tried any of the menu items and not able to provide any recommendations. "I haven't tried it." doesn't sit well with me. At least come up with a recommendation based on popularity of the items. NOTE: Do not order the #4 Signature Potsticker + Signature Noodle combo, as it is not priced at a discount and actually costs more than if you ordered it a la carte. The manager said that was in the process of being fixed, so just double check. :) Cons: - No obvious trash receptacles anywhere in the dining area or water/condiments area. You have to bus your own trays/dishes in a little hallway area that is not marked or obvious to anyone unless you are wandering around. There are a couple trash cans there and a metal shelf rack for trays/dishes. - Pork chop was not quite what we expected. It had a soft coated texture that was very chewy, vs. crispy. It did come with some side cucumbers/pickled radishes that were good, but a tad sweeter than salty. read more
Finally, a good Taiwanese dumpling restaurant in Torrance. Recommend the beef noodles soup, sesame noodles, spicy wontons, and signature potstickers. They have a variation of different combos that come with hot and sour soup, corn soup, and wonton soup. You can even get a Bafang pork chop combo that comes with old-fashioned noodles and an iced lemon black tea. Everything tastes authentic and brings fond memories of eating in Taiwan. This location is large and very clean, with friendly staff. I would definitely come here again to get my Taiwanese dumpling fix. read more
We visited on the opening day (8/11/23) for this Gardena store. It was busy but it was well-organized unlike some other grand openings. Ordering was orderly, we found a place to sit, and we didn't have to wait a long time for the food. We tried a little of everything on the menu: potstickers, beef noodle soup, fried chickens, pork chops, hot and sour soup, boba tea drinks, and 3 appetizers. Everything was delicious and good quality. Potstickers were the highlight for me, they were pan-fried just right. Traditional is the what you'd expect. Try Kim Chi if you like it spicy, and try corn if you like to try something a little different. Pork chops were the most authentic according my friend who visits Taiwan frequently. I liked the beef noodle soup, the soup has good sauce, my wife would prefer the noodles more Al dente (like those from the Northern Cafe). There is a sauce table near the entrance with soy sauce, vinegar, garlic sauce, and chili sauce. They were perfect companions for the potstickers. I like my hot and sour soup with a little more vinegar so that was cool. Parking was slightly tight on this opening day, however, the location has plentiful parking so I don't think it should be an ongoing issue. Tip: DTF is the standard for sit down dumplings and XLB, Bafang is the standard for casual dining. News: the staff told me another store is opening across from Torrance Del Amo in November! read more
I was very excited to have A Taiwanese dumpling house open very close to me that also sells bags of frozen dumplings (now I won't have to go SGV!). Admittedly though, I'd never heard of Bafang or been to another location so I was going in blind. Their menu is mostly dumplings (boiled or pan fried) but they also have some noodle options, wonton options and a few other fried options. For my first visit, I was committed to trying the dumplings which come in 3 flavors: Signature, Kimchi & Pork, and Corn & Chicken. I ordered a dumpling combo to try all 3 flavors (though I wish I had gotten potstickers as I do live a crunchy dumpling skin--next time!). Flavor wise, i prefer to eat my dumpling naked--without sauce. That way i can taste the actual dumpling filling. If it's lacking in flavor, that's when you bring in the sauces. The Signature was a bit light on flavor but with soy sauce, it was decent. The Kimchi & Pork dumpling was super Korean and tasty on its own with a little spicy kick. Last, the Corn & Chicken dumpling's flavor was similar to egg drop soup, but more dry. Not bad but unexpected. My favorite of the 3 ended up being the Kimchi & Pork. My order also came with a soup and I chose hot and sour. It was very loaded with ingredients and I enjoyed it a lot though I feel like some people may call it salty. Last, I got a Soy Wild Mango and it was smooth and cold on a warm summer night. A bit sweet though so I wonder if they can adjust sweetness (I'll ask next time). The interior is very bright, clean and modern. For a Taiwanese restaurant, the decor is decidedly more Western than Asian but the most important thing to me is that it's clean... then again it's only a few weeks old so I'd expect nothing less. Service wise, you can order online on their website, at the counter, or at a self-serve kiosk near the entrance. They're not speedy as dumplings take a bit of time to cook. Overall I enjoyed my first visit and on my next visit I will for try the potstickers. read more
