Loved Bafang Dumpling! I can't eat red meat but I dropped by here with my friends so I got the Bafang noodles and chicken and corn dumplings. The server was very helpful and patient when I asking about different menu items bc of my dietary restrictions. Our food came out relatively fast (5-10 min) and there was plenty of seating inside. Overall I highly recommend this spot for dumplings and noodles and I'd love to come back to try the different options even though they're limited for me personally. Inside: Super cute and modern. There are several different sized tables but no outside seating which was a little disappointing because it's gets busy inside and there seems to be open space next to the restaurant. Btw, this is also a take your tray type of eatery and you must place your dirty trays away. Small tables so be careful with your trays/food spread. Staff: Incredibly nice staff; we're very helpful with my order and I witnessed a customer drop his soup in the middle of the restaurant and they were very kind to him and assured it wasn't a big deal and they cleaned it immediately. 10/10 workers. Food: The Taiwanese Beef noddle soup combo came with a drink and a soup; we chose the corn chowder. The corn chowder was steaming hot and had a creamy consistency with a noticeable corn flavor; very homey and tasty. I wish the soup had more spice and beef flavor in my opinion; but there are sauce options you can add yourself and considering the price and tasty toppings (beef and radish) I can't complain too much. The potstickers were great for the price and really good for sharing as we got the 12 pieces and still had lots of leftovers. However the best dish which I recommend is the fried chicken. I've been seeing lines out the door for this place in the 99 Ranch plaza off Walnut/Jeffrey, but thought it was a sit down type restaurant. It's actually more of an order for take-out kind of restaurant though they do have tables you can sit at and eat too. It's fast casual. You line up, and order at the counter. They'll call your name when ready, and you seat yourself at any open table. We ordered their signature potstickers (made with pork and cabbage), signature dumplings, and fried porkchop to go. Can't believe Bafang is finally in Irvine! We enjoyed the signature dumplings, spicy wontons, corn soup, hot & sour soup, and the old fashioned noodles. The spicy wontons flavor was a little flat though compared to the other Bafang locations. I don't think it was spicy and salty enough, but other than that, the food was great. We went on grand opening weekend and it was super busy so we decided to do take out to eat at home. Just a note - The parking lot is TERRIBLE. Came on grand opening weekend. There was a line around the restaurant at opening for this famous dumpling spot that originated from Taiwan that finally opened in Irvine. The restaurant is modern and aesthetically pleasing, although it's not a big space and there are only a few table available for dine in. You get a buzzer for your order and the food usually comes out pretty quick. Parking isn't a problem as it's a big parking lot in a plaza that's shared with 99 Ranch. Food was absolutely impressive. They're known for potstickers and dumplings, but their noodles were so good! Can't really go wrong with anything here. We tried: Signature Noodles - Dry noodle in sauce with a kick of spice. Topped with green onion. Noodles were well made and tasted great. Signature Potstickers - Not your typical potstickers from Costco! Fried perfectly which a lot of places can't do. They claim is their most popular item and I see why. Spicy Wontons - If you love wontons, must get these. The sauce it's seasoned in is delicious. Beef Noodle Soup - My personal favorite and go to at a Taiwanese restaurant. They also have a Mala flavor which I got to-go after because this one was so good! The beef is well made, noodles were well cooked. Comes in a large bowl that won't leave you hungry after. Service here was exceptional and I think they handled the grand opening very efficiently. The old gentleman who I can tell is the owner or the family of the owner is so warm and kind. Helped us and others find seats in the crowd of customers and cleaned up tables and brought chairs/high chairs for customers. The Spicy Wonton, on the other hand, definitely has a bit of a kick with spice, so that one is for the spice lovers. I would frequent this store in Hong Kong so I was excited to have it again in CA. It was quick and delicious! You order at the counter and they give you a beeper , so when your order is ready you come back up to the counter and pick it up. There is a station where you make your own sauce which I like. Was excited for them to open in Irvine, but was disappointed! We went to three locations, brea mall (also no good), walnut area (a little better) and this location. We ordered the beef noodles soup, soup is spicy and flavorful but some beef was so tough to the point, we can't even eat them (only 2 beef shanks were food and tender), it's a waste of food and money. The dumplings took very long time but it's not even crispy on the bottom, the hot and sour soup was the worst I have ever had! It didn't taste right at all!!! And fried chicken was the only decent thing of tonight. The place looked decent size, but small inside with only a few tables and it's a bits awkward while waiting for people to finish eating to have their table and go to order food. Putting trays away are pretty standard practice but the customers are also responsible to wipe the table, it's a bits strange IMO and I understand it's a fast food place but I have never need to wipe tables at McDonald's or Taco Bell's, just putting trash and trash away, that's all! read more

Their signature noodles are similar but are a little bit spicy. I also enjoy the kimchi dumplings. They are very juicy and not too spicy. The ambiance inside is nice. The associates are friendly enough, the sauce bar is easy to access, and everything is very new and feels fresh. Stopped by to try this place at around 11 am on a Sunday after a 3 hour hike. I was hungry and craving this style of food. I asked the cashier what's his recommended menu item to get for a first time and he suggested the #2 meal which had 12 potstickers and a wonton soup cup. The potstickers had a nice crisp to them but were extremely oily. After eating half the plate, I noticed a bed of oil at the bottom. I also found the flavor to be nothing special and had to use their sauces which helped enhance the flavor. 6/10 The wonton soup wasn't bad, but was also oily. The broth tasted pretty good, kinda reminded me of pho broth which I love. Flavor of the wontons were barely present. 7/10 Overall, the meal was filling, but I probably wouldn't come back. Ordered just under $70 worth of food from here to sample the different options. I ordered Spicy Wontons, Crispy Wontons, Mini Wonton Soup, Corn Chowder, Chicken & Corn Dumplings, Signature Potstickers and Bafang Signature Noodles. Grubhub delivered it fast enough it was still warm with the Wonton soup being hot. Spicy Wontons: 8 meaty wontons per order for $8.34, They come in a fairly spicy sauce that is also sweet. The heat builds on you. The heat made them addicting. My lips were throbbing from the spice for a good half hour afterwards! Crispy Wontons: Came with a dipping sauce and 10 small deep fried wontons n top of romaine lettuce. Get rid of the lettuce, it made the crispy wontons soft where it was touching them. These had no flavor. They were full of meat but no flavor at all, need spices or herbs or soy in them. Even dipping them in your run of the mill sweet and spicy pink sauce just made them taste like the sauce. I did enjoy the price of $8.35 per order. Mini Wonton Soup: I would say this is a little over 12 oz of soup with maybe 8 wontons in it. Its hard to say because the wontons were a MASSIVE fail. I tasted the broth first and was hooked. VERY GOOD flavor. But the wontons ruined it all. They had water inside them. They looked like jellyfish and when you tried to lift one out of the soup it ripped apart cause they were so overcooked/waterlogged. The cilantro broth was so delicious that I dont mind paying $7.80 for it alone! Too bad Grubhub didnt have an option to omit the wontons or I would order this every time. Corn Chowder: The small size is about an 8 oz portion of creamy soup with chunks of corn and carrots in it for $5.40. Easily the best part of the order. This soup was phenomenal. I will order this every single time. The whiteness from the cream had me doubting it til that first spoonful hit my tongue. Ive never had egg flower soup like this before, it was insanely good. Chicken & Corn Dumplings: These were steamed dumplings. Didnt taste any chicken in them but you definitely get the corn. They were 6 for $8.10. There were two dipping sauces in the to go bag, one was a brown sauce with a soy and sweet tang to it. The red sauce was sweet and super spicy. Dipping into both sauces added some flavor but the dumplings themselves were super bland. Needs herbs, spices and/or sauce inside it. Signature Potstickers: Order came with 6 for $7.80. They steamed them and then fried them on one side. I liked them but like others reported, there is inconsistency as some had almost no meat in them and some had almost no cabbage. The cabbage was borderline raw in some as well. Dipping into the sauces helped add flavor, but the potstickers by themselves were also bland. Seems to be a recurring theme here with their wontons and dumplings. They need to add flavor inside of them. Bafang Signature Noodles: Unfortunately by the time I got around to eating these, they had sat for 15 minutes and were just a pile of noodles stuck to each other. I was disappointed to see the container was barely half full for $9.55. Noodles are cheap, fill that up! Or dont use a domed lid that makes the container bigger. +They were covered in a slightly spicy brown sauce and had green onions piled in the center on top. They were good, I had to sprinkle some water on them to get them to unstick. You should offer meat options for a few dollars more. Chicken, Beef, Pork, Shrimp, etc. In all, the prices were good, lower than other places with similar food. Some of the items were a little bland, but that can be fixed hopefully (the missing star on the rating). Other items were very good and combined with the lower pricing I will be back and be recommending this place to friends. Quick counter surface dumpling house that also offers noodles and soup. The hot and sour soup is pretty tasty and my husband really liked the beef noodles. The dumplings are good, but the meat isn't very compact and kinda falls apart. I wish they had more protein in them, but for the price you can't complain. I say this because my daughter only eats the meat of the dumplings and not the skin. So when opening these steamed dumplings there wasn't much to pull out for her. The only dish that I was ambivalent about was the pork chop. It had a sweeter taste to it which I didn't like. My wife however who is from Taiwan really liked it and said that's how they serve it there. Seating is very limited and you literally have to table hover to get a seat. New dumpling spot in Irvine?! I have to try. A few of us made it to their grand opening about a week ago, and there was certainly a lot of hype! The atmosphere here gives off a "take your order to-go" vibe. You order and pay at the front register, there's not that many tables, and the sitting is overall rather cramped. As for the food itself, we tried the dumpling trio combo, the spicy wontons, and the fried chicken. Everything was good, but nothing really stood out that would motivate us to come back. Dumplings were good (kimchi ones were nice!) but there are just better dumpling options in Irvine. Fried chicken is tasty, but I personally prefer the popcorn format you can get in boba shops. Maybe this fills a niche as a quick to-go option for dumpling cravings. But other than that, Bafang simply doesn't have any standout item that will make you miss it. read more
