This is a staple of my childhood. I grew up next to the one on 4th Ave in Bay Ridge before they moved and went to this location years ago. There's no other place that does a bagel the way they do. They have these marks/print at the bottom of the bagels they give it an extra texture crunch to them. My standard order as a kid was always a bagel with cream cheese toasted and it's always warm, gooey, and sometimes messy but guaranteed delicious! They're a local spot in in Bay Ridge and everyone will double park at the bus stop, across the street, or by the hydrant to grab their order. Cops won't even give you a ticket because they're also going in for some breakfast. They offer a wide variety of options: blueberry, croissants, muffins, rainbow, pumpkin, everything bagel, etc. They have different spreads of flavors. Occasionally I'll treat myself to a salmon lox bagel and it's worth every penny. Egg sandwiches are great and they can do any combo you're looking for. This is our favorite breakfast bagel place in bay ridge. This time I came in at 7:30am on a Saturday and ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel toasted and a sausage and egg in a whole wheat everything bagel for my partner. The sandwich also allowed you to get a free drip coffee which I took them up on. I ordered and paid, and waited around the register to get my food. It was quick and seamless. I grew up eating their bagels from the Sheepshead Bay location and even in Bay Ridge, they are still A+. They're big, they're crunchy on the outside, and pillowy and fluffy on the inside. They're great even just by themselves. The lox was super fresh. There was a generous amount piled on. With the exception of a few workers, this place is awful. When they're busy, they constantly mess up orders, take forever, very sloppy. One of the workers is rude, ALWAYS messes up the order, even after repeating it, and rolls his eyes when I repeat the order because I know he'll mess it up. Place is small, and gets crowded too fast especially since the staff isn't competent or able to keep up. I rather get frozen bagels than deal with the staff here. You stink bagelboy. read more

Whatever side of this bagel argument you might be on. One thing is for certain. Bagel Boy is the best kept secret in New York City. My favorite location is Bay Ridge. Hands down, Bagel boy has the best Fresh Lox and cream cheese bagel for the price ($8.00). Of course you can add tomatoes, capers, and onions but that will cost you a bit extra. You can even get a different flavored cream cheese. It's totally up to you. Let's be honest. I don't know why these other well known bagel spots around the city get so much play. My recommendation is for you to avoid the tourist traps and long lines for a fresh lox bagel. Even a regular toasted bagel with cream cheese will not break the bank at $3.50. Came here on early Saturday morning 7/25 (around 7am) to grab quick breakfast because our friend was going to give birth. Her water broke and we know that once you enter the hospital, it'll be a long wait and awhile before she can eat. My visit was during a COVID: The staff are all rocking masks, which is great, but the social distancing is non-existent. I've been impressed with a certain counter person's ability to creatively screw up my order. I say poppy seed bagel, not toasted. Little bit of scallion cream cheese, and lox. I get a toasted sesame with a pound of vegetable cream cheese and lox. I say pastrami on a hero, with mustard. I get roast beef with muenster. This last time really cinched it for me. First I check to see if they're there, and I was genuinely happy for a whole two minutes that my order might come out correct. But then they pop out of the side of the counter. That person is really short, but I swear I think it was like they were hiding. I gave my order, italian hero, easy on the mortadella extra vinegar and oil. They showed me as they were making it. But it didn't register what they were doing. So when I got home, I threw it in the fridge handled my stuff for the day, and when I opened it up... There was nothing in the sandwich. Just mortedella, making it completely inedible. It was also past their closing time so I couldn't even call to get my money back.
