New Yorker here, always in search for a good bagel! I am so glad that I found a spot like this to grab me a bagel sandwich. What is unique about this particular shop is that they have RAINBOW bagel! My kiddo has been wanting these bagels for sometime, and before I needed to go really far to get one. The colors are really bright and the bagel is plump. Do get Ken's Favorite (which is a bagel with lox, cream cheese, capers and red onion). I requested no red onion and it was still in my bagel sandwich, but no worries, just took me a little extra time to pick out the thinly sliced onion... The sandwich was perfect in everyway else. I chose sesame bagel and it was warm and not burnt! Yay! Just the perfect amount of cream cheese. Really all the portions were just right. There are many other favors available: everything, pumpernickle, asiago, blueberry, honey wheat, egg... a few others I can't recall. Egg flavor bagel is also a must and not all bagel shops carry this flavor so I was so happy to see this. With my sandwich, I got a 1/2 dozen for home. For food I ordered The Hasher on an everything bagel & got an apple juice (total $10.89). I never thought I could eat a bad everything bagel, but this place proved me wrong lol. I tried to go back inside and ask for some jelly to maybe offset the flavor a bit, but not only was I ignored when I walked in by the staff, once I got help the gentleman inside told me it was $1.68 for a SIDE of jelly. These arent close to New York bagels, but these are still a good choice if you are in the area. These are a notch up from the bagels you can get from Tom thumb or even Central Market. Ive tried their fruity bagels, everything bagels, jalapeno bagels, and the rainbow bagels. All of them are good for their own reasons (the rainbow bagels are enjoyable from the aesthetic). They have wonderful house-made cream cheeses that you should not pass up. Their breakfast bagel sandwiches are constructed in a way that seems like something I could do at home, but it just hits the spot at a reasonable price. This place can take some time to process your breakfast sandwich so don't expect to be in and out. Its also fairly bus yon the weekends, and the closer the closing time, the less bagel varieties they will have available. read more

The other bagel flavors are everything you want a bagel to be; chewy and fresh plus they last for days. The cashier mentioned it takes up to two days to make their bagels and I definitely don't believe this because the bagels were tough and flavorless. You can essentially get better bagels at Costco or Central Market. The best part was seeing they use freshly cracked eggs, so I commend them for the efforts. Bagel Cafe 21 & this other bagel place in The Colony called Bagel Fresh Deli look oddly similar from the interior design, to the menu, but hey I'm not complaining they're both great & this one gets two thumbs up from me for being so much closer! So far I've only had the Ken's favorite which is one of the best things I've ever eaten, & their rainbow bagel which was just as good as it is beautiful, but I will say it doesn't add any specific or extra flavor it is purely for aesthetics. They do sell out fast though so probably best to come early on the weekends if you want yourself an Instagram-able bagel. I can definitely see myself becoming a regular here! Was looking forward to this place because of the hype.. instead our whole family dealt with terrible food poisoning. The honey pecan cream cheese tasted a bit funky to begin with but I didn't think much of it until we spent hours on the toilet. When I called to report the matter the manager was dismissive and rude. He told me it couldn't possible be due to anything at their restaurant and all but accused me of lying. I would not have left a negative review if they acknowledged the matter, however, because they are now putting other patrons health at risk by dismissing my claims they leave me no choice. I see other people have dealt with their poor attitudes, so this seems to be a pattern. Avoid at all costs. Saw the managers response, again deflecting any responsibility! Because food borne illnesses can only possible be spread through expired foods and not improperly handled ones? Even my doctor said my symptoms correlate with food poisoning. They're just making their establishment look worse with all the arguing and deflecting, and now everyone on Yelp will see too. Thankfully I'll never be back so this is the last time I'll have to worry about it. read more

Did I drive 45 minutes for bagels? Yes. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. I was a little on the fence looking at the reviews. They seemed a little mixed. Personally I had a great experience. The bagels are a little pricey however they are HUGE. The texture is beyond perfect. Super fresh and has that typical bagel crust but the insides were pillowy soft and amazing. I had the harsher sandwich on egg and it was perfect. I also got a rainbow with blueberry cream cheese. I think my only negative is that the blueberry cream cheese was pretty bland and nothing special. But that's okay the bagels are they real star here. I also got a half dozen of mixed bagels and ate on them for a few days. Even a few days later they were delicious. I really enjoyed the rosemary garlic parm and the rosemary olive oil. They were unique flavors and would make great sandwiches. The French toast bagel was incredible and definitely my favorite out of everything. I will definitely be back.
