I look forward to visiting Benny's Bagels on Fridays when I'm in the area for KMarket. I usually get an open Lox Bagel (no tomato) on a jalapeño bagel with jalapeño smear, and it never disappoints. Today I had a sufganiyot, and it was so good. The staff is always friendly and patient -- whether I'm sticking to my usual order or feeling adventurous and trying something new. their bagels were pretty decent, but i was left unimpressed by their slow service. my friends and i waited around 25 for our bagel and schmears even though there was only one person who ordered before us. they also got some of our order wrong, not sure if it's just because they ran out of some schmear flavors so that's why they just subbed it for something else since we did come in 1 hour before they closed but they could've at least informed us about it beforehand. read more

The bagels at Benny's are out this world good. They are so soft and flavorful! The lox cream cheese is mixed fresh and the bagels were stil soft and chewy 3 days later. This establishment's food is 5 star worthy but I knocked off a star because they are hit or miss on the selection. If you want specific bagels, you need to call ahead but it is someone's cell phone so they do not always answer. Ordering online isn't seamless and their POS system is a little shaky (no itemized receipt and it seems like I'm never charged the same amount). read more

Loved Bennys Bagels tried it for the first time today with my husband., my brother in law's family and father in law. Most delicious bagel I've ever made. I got the everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and tomato 4 of us got onion bagels with lox and cream cheese and my sister in law got a breakfast sandwich on a sesame bagel with an egg and cheese. I really wanted to like this place, but had a bad food experience here today.  Ordered an egg and cheese on sesame.  Egg was burnt to a crisp - really tasteless, barely any cheese, and the bagel was also really burnt.  Just left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like they could do better.  Don't think I'll be back. read more

Ok! I went back. I have not seen that old man who licked his fingers while preparing the bagels in a very long time. They actually closed that section of the prep area as far as I can tell. Maybe this is why....maybe fingers are still getting licked but out of site now. IDK. The bagels are so good that I'm fine with it at this point. We made it through the lockdowns and I guess some extra immunity may come in handy. Well-priced and will sale out so be prepared. Their white fish bagel and lox bagels are amazing. The salmon spread is sooo good too. That honey cream cheese....mmm...we buy it by the tub to bring home. My husband could probably eat it straight. The real quality is just their baked goods though. They do such a good job with their dough. I am really glad that we gave this spot a chance again because in the last year and a half it has become my favorite bagel spot. Each Mother's Day, my husband has to get up early and take the kids to get some some Bennys for breakfast in bed. It's now a tradition. I will say though...they do need to work on the bathroom....it could be cleaner...and they kind of use it as storage. The changing table always has boxes and just a ton of junk on it so there is no where to change baby. Please clean up a bit. read more

Was craving a blueberry bagel toasted with butter - simple order. Came out to $4 and they told me they only accept card over $5 or they take Zelle. I didn't have cash or Zelle so I just ordered 2 bagels to get me over the $5 minimum. Both bagels looked to be toasted on a griddle and were burnt and had an odd flavor of whatever else they cook on the griddle. It was fine, but won't be returning. read more

I love bagels and bennys serves absolutely delicious bagels and spreads. The quality rivals that of good New York bagels and the prices are totally reasonable. The service is okay. They are friendly enough and it doesn't usually take that long to get our food out. The bagels are DEFINITELY the reason you are coming here though. The place is pretty beat up and could some TLC. The door is in rough shape, the layout is pretty bare, and the bathrooms are pretty bad lately. Also I have a baby and the changing table has often had boxes and stuff on it. Again, the bagels are so good I would easily rate them 5/5 but they really need to do a little work on the place to make it feel more comfortable to visit instead of just grab and dash. read more

I apologize in advance but no pictures this time. This is one of the most embarrassing situations because my everything bagel with Lox and cream cheese and capers was hot and just out of the over. It was inhaled!!! Truly one of the most wonderful things I have put in my mouth in ages. I can smell fresh baked bagels and bread from the moment the door was opened. This place is a gem. Yet, they get busy and it can be a bit hectic when there are families waiting for food but the pizza's looked incredible. Everyone was so happy and not one plate wasn't devoured. NOTE Benny's Bagels on Frankford is a KOSHER establishment. You will not be able to bring in your own food or drinks. There is nothing made with Pork/Piggy (or any meat for that matter) Everything is made fresh on premise and their NY Water Bagel is still one of the best I have ever had. This is a family owned and operated establishment and the owner is highly engaged in it's success. My belly is full and I am smiling from ear to ear. This place is a disaster! I was sure they had violations for cleanliness so i checked, but they don't. On the way in, the building looks old and tired, and the front door is rotting out. Inside trash is overflowing the garbage cans, the counters are dirty and cluttered, the plastic plants are atrocious and dusty, and the clock on the wall is broken. Plus, the baking area looks like it could use a good scrubbing. There also seems to be no process or division of labor between the two workers that were there. We saw the food being touched directly by hands as it was prepared. And some people seemed to come and go ahead of the line. Anyway, in spite of all this, they still do attract a loyal crowd of local Jewish clients. We waited in line for what seemed like forever but which was probably just 15 minutes... and when we finally get to the front of the line they tell us that they only have jalapeño, cranberry and blueberry bagels. It would have been nice to let everyone know that in advance instead of making us all waste 15 minutes for our lives... Our quest for the best bagels in Dallas continues, but we didn't find them here! read more

I drove past this place the other day and knew I needed to come in! It is so rare to find a bagel that's actually good that costs less than $5, and you know in Texas bagels are usually meh-- especially at the grocery store (boo!) I walked into Benny's, which has a cute little atmosphere and all kinds of fresh bread and challah baking, and told the lady working that I'd never been, and she was super kind! She showed me all of the bagel varieties (plain, everything, sesame, blueberry, and I think some more) and explained the menu to me. I also didn't realize that they have a sign asking that credit/debit card purchases be over $5, but no worries, just buy two bagels! I was pleasantly surprised by the service and am excited to return! I just got a plain bagel with plain cream cheese-- I'm easy. So good! The cream cheese has kind of a sour taste to it but I feel like that just makes it more authentic. It almost felt like a New York street bagel in the middle of suburban Texas. I love big, soft bagels. I'm not afraid to say that I'm a lover of Einstein's bagels... but I love supporting smaller businesses and there isn't an Eintstein's on my way to work. I came for the first time this morning and I enjoyed a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese, and a plan toasted cranberry bagel. I was really happy with the quality of the food itself and found it to be really comparable to Einstein's - perhaps softer! I also had a cup of coffee which was fresh brewed, and there were plenty of standard coffee accompaniments available. However- this place is the epitome of grab-and-go, quick stop, no frills. The service area was disheveled and cluttered. There were no signs to indicate where to order or where to pay. I didn't see any list indicating what kinds of bagels they had available. And sometimes... I need a little more than a bagel with cream cheese and would like to go for a full breakfast sandwich. Benny's is vegetarian and thus no meat, although eggs and cheese are options. With that all being said... the price is right for this simple bagel shop. Credit card minimum is $5 so make sure you're ordering enough! If you're looking for delicious bagels and you don't need anything fancy, this is a great spot. read more

I tried this place again, and this time for the bagels. While this place is made famous for their challah breads within the local Jewish community (to be found on Thursdays and Fridays), I have to say their bagels are really good. They are soft, plush, flavorful, and just all around delicious. Upon coming in here, it's obvious that it is a Kosher (no bacon or anything pork related) establishment and that they cater strongly to the Orthodox Jewish community. This sets this Benny's apart from the others. Does that have anything to do with the quality of the food? I don't know, but the other Benny's does not seem to get as much love. Only thing is their espresso machine is broken. They had brewed coffee though. The other thing I didn't like was that it's not very organized. I saw sugar in a place where decaf coffee was supposed to be. Potato chips where bagels were supposed to be. And the menu for the bagels were nowhere to be seen. And so on. But the service was helpful and friendly, and the quality of the breads were good enough for me to consider returning. And when you come in, you may not see any bagels - and it's because they're stored to stay fresh instead of left out to become dried out. You can ask what flavors they have, but when I was here, they had plain, whole wheat, jalapeño, salted, sesame seed, and everything, just to name some. I live very near, so location wise, Benny's is super convenient. Additionally, service is very streamlined - in and out - perfect for a bite before work etc. Food: I have always been very satisfied with my bagels - never had an issue of any sort.
