My best friend and I walk in fir breakfast and apparently they don't like people looking around. She goes alot and decided to show me this place so I've never been. Well they took her order and ignored me. For a good 10 minutes. We were the only two people ordering. The one with the badly done fake lashes and injected lips was giving EVERYONE, customer and employee, major attitude. I'm going going to assume Maybe shes the owner to treat everyone as if she is better than them. She was giving me dirty looks, why idk. Maybe cause I looked put together and she was forced to wear a T shirt and leggings? Idk, but she could have not given everyone c**ty vibes. Woulda been nice. This being said she was not happy about my existence in the bagel shop. Now I knew my bagel would be a little pricey for what it got, so I knew what I was walking into. I ordered a plain bagel, scooped, toasted, lox and avocado.....the picture is what I got. The younger girl did everything right. She was very polite. Lashy lips started barking orders at her cause she thought the nice young girl wasn't dpong it correctly. Firsty mind your business, secondly just cause ypu need to wait three minutes to put on 4 SLIVERS of avocado doesn't mean you need to get snappy with someone who is doing their job correctly(I make bagels for people as well lady). The poor girl had to get reassurance from me that my bagel was to be toasted. Not lashy Lips is up to place avocado on my bagel. After being charged $3+ for avocado you'd thing it would be almost like avocado toast....nope. its was literally 4 SLIVERS. They must have used A MOST 1/8 of an avocado.. and entire avocado is cheaper in the supermarket!! I was expecting to pay around d $6-7 for my bagel. It was $9 and change. Lashy lips took no care and deliberately skimmed the avocado. I was going to say something there but I didn't want confrontation with lashy lips, so I figure reviews on her would get a point point across to her terrible attitude and service. I thought it was weird there was only one other person in there....but now I know why And if she is the owner.....stop using Costco to stock your business. It makes you look like you have no clue what your doing. And if you want to use costo stuff....at least change the packaging. Theeat in the deli case says Kirkland. The paper plates are literally the same ones I have at home. If I wanted to go out and be served on my home paper plates....I'd stay home and makey own food. Ypu are located in holbrook and so is Costco. Most of your clientele is from holbrook and would be shopping at Costco as well. If they want Costco stuff they can stay home. The bacon is the precooked microwave crap. And the eggs aren't even large. Nothing special about this place. Poorly lit, poorly assembled, expensive for cheap crap.

We decided to give this new place a try, and were actually a bit excited to have a new local bagel place to try. Unfortunately, it was just okay, and with the deli right next door and a lots of good bagel places in the area, we haven't been back... and likely won't be. It's new so the decor is stylish and trendy. The place is also very clean, again it's only been open a few months. Unfortunately, the interior design is nicer than the people who work there. They just weren't all that friendly or pleasant and we were literally the only customers there, so it's not like they were busy. And the food was just okay. I didn't like the texture of the bagels at all... they reminded me of bagels you get when you're not in New York... they were more like a roll. We went with several family members and they all seemed to feel the same about their food... it was just middle-of-the-road; Nothing to sing praises about or write home about, nothing to shout from the roof in complaint about either. Average. So very average. The deli next door makes an awesome egg sandwich. The bagel place by CVS is always packed but never fails to deliver the perfect NY bagel. The diner around the corner has every breakfast choice under the sun. There's at least three other bagel stores I can think of off the top of my head that I can get to in about 5 minutes. Why would I keep choosing this very average, sub-par service Bagel Cafe? I wouldn't.

Your guess is as good as mine.

The sausage & egg were not large enough for the bagel. This was also one of the more expensive bagel sandwiches I've bought in the area and I don't think the quality matches the price. The place also felt messy and unclean. Maybe the quality and cleanliness would have been better if I got food first thing in the morning, but I don't think I'll be heading back here anytime soon given the other options in the area.

So I made my way over there to try em out. Long Island really rapes you on a bacon egg and cheese, or at least this crap-hole does. Paid something close to $9 and it was god awful. I have a hard time believing this ever could have been good. I see 80-90% of the pix on here are from one dude three years ago, some look good n all, but this place is anything but. Hard pass. Signed - a guy struggling with living on Long Island again.

The longish sort of line seemed promising, but the hold up wasn't because everyone needed a bagel from here, it was only because of a discrepancy of some sort. The staff was hustling, and eggs were being flipped right behind the counter and everything looked like it was kept clean. The service is a bit subpar. I was skipped over, which seemed to be an honest mistake so I didn't fuss. More pissed at the dude that speak up to say I was next. I guess chivalry is dying. The bagel itself was also subpar. I ordered an everything flagel with olive cream cheese. It wasn't bad by any means it just wasn't anything special. The star of the show was the cream cheese. Wasn't too olivey and you can tell it was pretty fresh. Nothing was labeled so I couldn't tell you what other cream cheeses they had. The menu was digital and was hung on the wall behind the counter. It didn't have much besides the list of bagels and before I could try to read more it would flash off. This place is fine in a pinch, but I'm not running back any time soon.

That being said, I have never had a pleasant customer service experience. All the workers I have interacted with have been very negative and slightly rude. This morning I went in and it was busy, to be expected on a Sunday morning. I did not mind waiting. However when it was my time to place my order I walked up to the counter with enthusiasm and said to the girl at the counter "hi how are you". As she looked at me with a look of annoyance she responded with "what can I get you". Once I told her she just walked away and said nothing. I fully understand being tired or overwhelmed, like I said it was quite busy, but I do not think that that is an excuse to be nasty to customers. Especially considering I came at her with positivity and it was not returned. Not to mention they did not seem to be under staffed as there were many employees behind the counter. Now as I said this is a common occurrence at this place and I have gone at times where there has been no one in the store and still received this attitude. I do enjoy this establishment and will continue to return. I just think this is an issue to take into consideration.

Unfortunately, in Las Vegas where I now live, Einstein Bros which could not make it on Long Island, is the main source of bagel shops.      My Dad, whom I was visiting on Long Island is well aware of my fondness for the Long Island bagel. When my Dad was returning an Amazon package next store at the UPS Store on May 15, 2024, he decided to stop by Holbrook Bagels to treat us to a bag of bagels that would be our breakfast the next two days. When we walked into the shop around noontime, it was quiet. We walked into a small bagel shop that did not have the bells and whistles of a plenitude of seats and interesting interior. It was pretty much a small mom and shop bagel shop that appeared to be more oriented towards take-out. At noon-time, the bagel display had a healthy number of bagels as seen in my picture. On this quiet day, the customer service was solid. Related to a good customer service experience, Holbrook Bagels was a breeze to get in and out of.     Fast forward to the next two breakfasts my warmed up poppyseed bagel (added cream cheese) tasted really good. My Dad says the same about his pumpernickel bagels. This gave me the impression that they are really good bagels that I would enjoy eating again for breakfast.
