Born and raised on Long Island, I am very fond of the bagel. If I still lived on Long Island, my Yelp pages would be full of bagel reviews. Unfortunately, in Las Vegas where I now live, Einstein Bros which could not make it on Long Island, is the main source of bagel shops.      My Dad, whom I was visiting on Long Island is well aware of my fondness for the Long Island bagel. When my Dad was returning an Amazon package next store at the UPS Store on May 15, 2024, he decided to stop by Holbrook Bagels to treat us to a bag of bagels that would be our breakfast the next two days. When we walked into the shop around noontime, it was quiet. We walked into a small bagel shop that did not have the bells and whistles of a plenitude of seats and interesting interior. It was pretty much a small mom and shop bagel shop that appeared to be more oriented towards take-out. At noon-time, the bagel display had a healthy number of bagels as seen in my picture. On this quiet day, the customer service was solid. Related to a good customer service experience, Holbrook Bagels was a breeze to get in and out of.     Fast forward to the next two breakfasts my warmed up poppyseed bagel (added cream cheese) tasted really good. My Dad says the same about his pumpernickel bagels. This gave me the impression that they are really good bagels that I would enjoy eating again for breakfast. read more

The worst customer service Today i Walked in and placed my order a challenged man walked in and handed the owner a dime and ahe rudely told him 50 cents more and wouldn't give hime his order He was clearly not understanding. So i said i will give it to you and handed her a dollar and she took it lol. He couldn't thank me enough. This poor man on memorial day had on a shop rite shirt clearly heading to work just wanted a bite to eat. Shame on her..... Really? 50 cents? My bagel looked NOTHING like those advertised on store window. Mine was burnt. But, that's not all. This owner is a baker. The bagel dough was soft like cake, missing the usual chewiness. Also, the bagel toppings were burnt causing an overall distaste to the experience. No tables. Self serve coffee. Go somewhere else. read more

Went in for egg/bacon on roll with salt & pepper, no cheese. The board says $5.55 the women says 9.99 prices changed. I said that's a big increase from 5.55 and she said the prices on the board don't include tax. I still said that's a lot of money and a big increase. She then pointed to the wall where it says *prices subject to change and does not include tax. I'm pretty sure the man after me was charged the board price. I will NOT be going back there. read more

Updated Review: After the ownership change things have been going downhill. Most if not all of their baked goods are no longer baked in house. The quality of their bagels has also suffered greatly. The Everything bagels barely have anything on them and they aren't cooked enough. Egg sandwiches have been nasty, overcooked eggs. I'll never understand why new owners think they can do it better. I ordered a bacon and egg sandwich on a toasted roll. With lettus tomato and Mayo. Wow they charged me $7.69. I have not paid more then $6 at any other bagel shop or deli here in N.Y.. My roll wasn't even toasted like I had asked. She lady charged me $1.00 for the extra egg. Bahaha I didn't even say anything about adding an extra egg. I told her that too! She still charged me. Haven't been here in a while. The bagels were even softer than Stacy's on Hawkins. I walked in and out in less than 5 minutes with a dozen assorted bagels 2 kinds of cream cheese and multiple people were helping my order get together. It was fast, fresh and delicious. Been here a few times and the food is always terrible, so I quit going. Today, I happened to be at the store next door and thought I'd try them again since they were right there. The place is completely empty but when I go to order, I wanted to check if they take credit cards. $10 minimum. I explained I was just ordering for myself and wasn't going to spend that much but had no cash. The woman goes over to someone who I assume is the manager and asks for an exception. "No, we can't do that." Really? You CAN do that actually. You're just choosing not to. It's 2018. If you don't like the fees you pay for taking credit cards, then get Square or something. This morning my boyfriend ordered egg and cheese on a bagel for me and my 5 year old the eggs were extremely runny it was all over the bagel covered with runny yolks and on top of that there was 3 big egg shells!!! I'm sorry to say I am not able to recommend this place. Basically, the coffee stinks. It's weak and usually lukewarm. I thought it would get better with the new machines they installed but it has not. The bagel egg sandwiches were pretty good at times. Lastly, the older woman that works there never smiles and can be nasty and down right rude. She should not be serving food and drinks to anybody. She also makes lousy food. Happened to stumble in here last week while waiting for Lombardi's market to open. Noticed they had a roll with "everything" seasoning on it. I had to try it. I showed up and was disappointed. Place is very dirty and disheveled. Bottles of beverages I assume they planed on selling were laying on the floor in the same area the extremely slow moving line was. The bagels looked puffy and swollen most without bagel holes. After a 30 minute wait for 2 toasted bagels I asked about my order. It had been so long that the person who took my order forgot it. Then I noticed my bagels sitting at the base of the toaster not toasted (order was 2 toasted with butter). I can honestly say that I would never return here. The staff is not friendly. I asked for a box for bakery treats and the response was "I have no box." I ask for a second bag she goes "for what?" I've never gone to a bakery where they don't provide you with what you're buying in a box. Cannolis were rolling around everywhere and the brownies were not fresh. Bagels I bought for breakfast were hard and also didn't seem fresh. Won't be coming back here. Service is more important than anything and they weren't even friendly. This place is horrible this is the second time this has happened I ordered bagels and a couple of black & white cookies. The cookies were rock hard and I can't believe they even sold them, I know the old owners sold and I never experienced this from them. New ownership must be very cheap and don't want to through out the cookies rather then make fresh ones. I have been coming to this store since the 80s with our family. More recently new owners took over and for the most part the bagels have been decent. However, last week the store was extremely busy and when I got home the 3 bagels ordered were tough. I also had to wait longer as the first time the girl did not get my order correct. The next morning I went again for breakfast & mentioned this. The lady picked up a bagel and starting pushing on it & saying how I could see they are soft. I was surprised they never apologized & I thought maybe one of the three I ordered might be on the house for the inconvenience. That is just good customer service. The gentleman said he could do nothing & it is his uncle's business. I left my number asking to speak with the owner but nobody ever called. I will certainly not be back. Placed a order today, a cheese sandwich on a roll pepper and mayo. My order comes and I have a hard stale roll, with one transparent piece of SWISS cheese with hard edges and alot of pepper. I figured this was a mistake. I call and speak to them and apparently I was supposed to tell them how many slices as they charge $1 a slice, so they agree to send a new sandwich. The delivery person comes in and now Im supposed to pay $6 for the new sandwich after I just paid 4$ for one transparent slice of cheese on a stale roll. After a big deal they agree to leave the new sandwich but they wanted the first ones back. And wanted assurance we didnt TOUCH them! Were they going to reuse the sandwich? Who knows! I ended up telling them to keep both. Im told they are new owners. Well we spend alot of money at this bagel store so I will not go there ever or order.
