Honestly, this place is my favorite bagel shop in Torrance and I love that they have a vegan and vegetarian option for their cream cheese! Being someone that is severely lactose intolerant this absolutely allows me to enjoy bagels again. I come to the shop at least 2 to 3 times a week however, I noticed today that when the lady was preparing my bagel, she started touching a screen that was right next to her I'm guessing they were preparing a mobile order and she was helping a colleague however, I truly believe like if you are preparing someone's food, you shouldn't be touching a dirty screen that I don't know who touched. The glove should be kept on the food only! I was pretty grossed out about it and honestly was not looking forward to eating my bagel after that. Please do better in ensuring that you maintain cleanliness when preparing someone's food I don't believe that you should be using the same glove that you're preparing someone's food with and touching a screen or anything else that is not food. Another small issue that bugs me as someone that used to work in retail is that when I walked into the shop no one greeted me. I was literally ignored for 3 to 5 minutes. So, after being disappointed in the bagel store across the street yet still craving a bagel (the other store's bagels I just couldn't eat - they didn't taste like proper bagels) I went back to this bagel shop I've been to before. Only 1 employee was working yet there was a line of 6 people ahead of me. 2 people who came in after me got tired of waiting and walked out. By the time I was 2nd in line, the person ahead of me asked the one lady working: "So it's only you working today?" To which the lady replied, "No, there's one other girl but she's in the back" and at that point another lady came out (upon hearing herself mentioned) and then FINALLY there were 2 people helping because before there was literally just one lady both making the bagels and ringing up people on the register which was very slow. It took me about 15 minutes to get my bagel. When I finally did get it, it tasted how a bagel should taste although it was slightly overcooked (a little pet peeve of mine is when they overcook the everything bagels since then it gives the burnt aftertaste). Only the Everythings were overcooked though upon my inspection. I also got a plain bagel and it was good. This is the best bagel shop in the immediate vicinity however I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. read more

The coffee itself was good. Should have left it black. I do like they have syrups available, but have to wonder if they are watered down. It didn't come out of the bottle like syrup and when I drank my coffee, there wasn't much sweetness with 4 pumps (usual for a Starbucks latte and this didn't even have all the milk.). The place is nice and clean, and the staff is very friendly. However, today's visit did not meet my expectations. I'm not someone who usually returns food or drinks--I tend to just take the loss. My family and friends often encourage me to speak up when something isn't prepared as requested, especially since I'm paying for it, but I'm naturally shy. I stopped by because I was craving a bagel and ordered their breakfast bagel along with a cappuccino. The cashier explained that their cappuccino consisted of espresso and milk foam only and that it would not be sweet. I told her that was fine, as I regularly order cappuccinos, think the foam milk was also part of the steam milk. Unfortunately, this location prepares their cappuccino differently than expected. The drink was essentially a single shot of espresso with only very little milk foam. Based on my understanding, a cappuccino should include espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam, but my drink did not contain any steamed milk. The disappointment with the drink ended up affecting my overall breakfast experience. When I shared my concern with the cashier, she reiterated what the drink contained and explained that this is how they prepare it at this location. After that explanation, I left. I bought dozen bagels for my dogs vet. I also bought one for myself. They have some vegan options for cream cheese and that's nice. Their bagels are a bit dry but I bake it anyway. They also have a big bags of bagels after a day so I bought it once and freeze them individually. Staffs are nice enough and answered my questions. No complaint. I wanted to take Bagel Factory bagels to Christmas Day brunch. I ordered a Baker's dozen on December 17 by phone. The person who took my order did not appear to understand a lot of what I was saying, but when I asked her to repeat my order, she got it correct. I told her I would pick them up at noon on December 24. When I arrived to pick up my order on December 24, I was told there was no order for pick up. There were two ladies working. One of them went to a bulletin board and pulled down some handwritten orders. They found one with my name and order on it, however the pick up was for Christmas. I didn't even know they were open on Christmas. Further, they told me I came in to their store the day before (12/23) and placed the order in person. That did not happen. I think what did happen is the person who took my order wrote it on scratch paper and forgot about it. When she found her note later, she wrote up my order, but she couldn't remember the pick up time I requested. So it was a big cover-up! I left with no bagels. Fortunately, there's an Einstein Bagels down the street and I went there. Very nice customer service. I bought a bakers dozen, with three 8oz cream cheeses and I was good to go! On November 5, I entered the shop at 1:10. When my friend and I got there the staff had already begun putting away the bagels, putting up the chairs and sweeping the floor. After paying I asked can we sit down and the "manager said we could sit outside since they are cleaning up to close. I asked , what time they closed and was told @ 2pm. In formed her we at least had 40 minutes to eat and that it was cold outside. She agreed to lets us sit but we had to take the chairs down from the table and sit ourselves. Around 1:30 they had already packed half the bagels, and turned away 2 or 3 customers. The told the customers as they were sold out of majority of the bagels. The straw to break the camlels back, was 6 minutes before closing we were told they are closed and we had to finish outside. I would be furious if these were my employees. read more

This is bar none my favorite bagel in the South Bay. I lived in NY for 4 years and have developed a strong opinion about bagels. What makes their bagels tasty? I find their bagels to have the best chew on the crust, and the interior of the bagel is soft. You can see them prep the bagels for the oven from the counter. The seeded bagels (sesame, poppy, everything, etc) are generously coated. When you get the bagel sandwiches made, they are traditional. Their cream cheese is the right consistency and they spread on a reasonable amount. The challah is the best I've had in the South Bay. I've always found the service to be friendly. My only gripe is that they used to give complimentary red onions on the bagel sandwiches (like most bagel shops) and now they are charging. Personally, I think the staff is confused because they don't have a button to charge for it so they charge for a tomato slice. If I see the owner, I plan on clarifying. read more

They have a variety of fresh bagels and a great overhead menu. I had their Spanish Omlette with cream cheese on a garlic and onion bagel- it was excellent and a perfect breakfast with my coffee. May seem like a small thing, but the young woman who made it sliced the sandwich perfectly down the middle with a large sharp knife and wrapped it up like a pro- loved that touch. It can get busy- seems like everyone stops by from young folks driving by on cross country trips to local moms and dads dropping in to grab a bag of fresh bagels for the family on weekend mornings. The moms and dads were grabbing extra cream cheese from the cooler- it's very good. The team behind the counter work very hard and it's a pleasure to interact with them. read more

This place has great bagels. I don't eat them as often because I'm cutting way back on carbs. If you get bagels, try to get there before 9:00 am. Majority of bagels are made before 6:00 am. Solid B for the bagels (3.5 stars rounded up) which are a bit smaller than what I'm used to. Bagels are one of my guilty pleasures in life. I love them. Nothing really moved me about the jalapeño bagel this morning except it's small stature -almost childlike. It's was good and fresh, but that's it. Not the "simply the best" as advertised, but decent. I really look for that doughy almost wet middle to the bagel with a crispy outside. A big bite should break the outer crisp and sink into the soft warm dough. The secret is in the boil of the bagel. The bagels here seemed a bit on the bready side and lacked those elements. The over baked dough turns to a more dry bread texture that is lacking the freshly baked taste. I also was a little let down that they had no cheese bagels. The ladies at the register are very sweet and made the experience worthwhile. I also got a blueberry muffin to go. If my review was based on that alone this would be 1 star. Horrible. Advise to management would be to ditch the muffin recipe or maker and go for something new. It's my favorite in the area BUT the employee ruins it The middle aged lady who often works there makes me so unhappy each time I am there that I have decided to never return. She ALWAYS gets my order wrong (wrong cream cheese, not cut in half, not toasted, etc etc). And when I try to politely repeat myself to gently remind her to prevent her from getting it wrong, then she shows me a lot of attitude.
