Excellent NY style boiled bagels. They are chewy and delicious. My favorites are the sesame and the bialy bagels. Try their house made flavored cream cheese while you're at it. The veggie cream cheese is excellent. I drive 25 minutes one way for these bagels and they're well worth it. They close at 2pm. They accepts credit cards. read more

Best bagel I've had since Clearwater bagels in Clearwater Beach Florida. I ordered an everything bagel, with vegetable spread, but the guy at the counter encouraged me to try the scallion spread instead. He also recommended my wife get a different bagel, as for the variety she wanted they only had "The runts of the litter left" lol. I once tried to stop at the Starbucks before work in the Nora area. The Starbucks line was long, and the coffee was, well, the same it always is. I remembered seeing Bagel Fair before and being curious. So I drove across the shopping center parking lot. Bagel Fair keeps things simple, serving coffee and excellent bagels. It appears it's a family operation, and I confirmed with the young woman at the counter they make the bagels fresh every morning. My favorite bagel is the everything bagel. It's salty and crunchy. When you order the bagel be sure to ask it gets warmed up. When they told me they didn't toast the bagels I was a little concerned. But once I took my first bite, I realized it was crunchy and tasted as if it was toasted. (Not sure if that is the freshly homemade bagel status or the warm up.) The cream cheese level was perfect for me, and they don't overdo it with a giant 2 inch slab packed in there (which I have encountered before). The one suggestion I would make is replacing the styrofoam coffee cups with traditional to-go cups. read more

Bagels are made fresh every day and they don't skimp on the cream cheese like Einstein does. Prices are very reasonable.

They're good, but honestly, Big Apple Bagels in Fishers is a tad better. With a larger selection and uber-friendly staff. I'm from the east coast, so I definitely know bagels. read more

Essentially, the BEST and ONLY place to buy bagels in Indianapolis. They are the closest thing to real NY bagels. The crust is perfect, doughy on the inside, and when toasted, they have a nice, crispy crust. Bagel Fair has a great selection to choose from, and on one day each weekend they make a true Bialy. For the best selection, get there early. Their bagels are never soft, unlike certain other establishments in Indy (e.g. the one that starts with "E"), and they freeze quite well. read more

Three words. Jalapeño cayenne bagel. That's all you need to know. That bagel had such good flavor and jalapeño flavor in every bite without having to see a bunch of jalapeños in it. I also tried the everything bagel which was awesome. The bagels have a really good consistency of dough and great flavor. Their veggie cream cheese is also on point. I have an intense relationship with bagels. I lived in NYC for 5+ years and have had the BEST Bagels on earth so many times, it wouldn't surprise me if my entire mid section was comprised of pure bagelry. I love bagels. WITH A PASSION. Sometimes, I wake up and cry a little because I know I won't be able to find a Essa Bagel or and H&H Bagel. That said, I have been on a quest to enjoy a bagel in Indy. They've ranged from OK to awful. I was shopping in the Target/WholeFoods plaza and I saw a sign that said Bagels. I promptly darted across the parking lot with my stroller. I peered in the window awkwardly to find that they in fact had homemade cream cheese... and the bagels... Looked... REAL. YAY no more making bagels at home, I thought (It's intense, I tell you). I brought my friend who was visiting from NY with me to try them, just in case I'd become deluded in my short time back in Indy. My husband went to the counter and ordered "everything bagel, toasted with veggie cream cheese" Just like we did in the good old NYC. He looked slightly disappointed but I was too excited to understand. Breathing heavily, I said... "everything bagel, toasted with veggie cream cheese". "We don't toast" said dude at counter. "WHAAAAAAT???????" I suppose we'll survive. We ate them. They were good. They were crispy/crunchy/chewy on the outside. They were just the right texture. For a comedic experience, go in to this place and ask for a "bialey". The people working there will, with perfectly straight faces, point your attention to a bin of onion/poppy seed bagels. Tell them that that's not a "bialey," and they'll tell you that they're "bialey bagels". "Really? 'Bialey bagels'?" "Yes, you know, a bagel with bialey flavorings, like onion and poppy." Okay, even if we assumed that it was the flavorings that made a bialey a bialey, then these would be, at best, "bialey-flavored bagels." But let's face it, if onion and poppy really made a piece of bread a bialey, then the very same place couldn't rightly sell onion or poppy bagels then, could it? Wouldn't these then be 'bialeys' by definition? But of course, that's absurd. And in any case, that absurdity pales in comparison to the absurdity of calling something with a hole in the center a 'bialey'. It's the hole that makes a bagel a 'bagel', and the lack of one that makes a bialey a 'bialey'. (Well, that and the fact that bagels, unlike bialeys, are boiled, one of the reasons for shaping a bagel like that in the first place! If bagels were shaped like bialeys, they wouldn't boil as well because the depression would trap air and prevent boiling water from flowing through. Ah, but I digress. Your bialeys wouldn't last a Miami Beach minute!) Seriously people! Calling something a 'bialey' when it lacks the bialey's most distinctive feature! What's next? If you ran out of rolls, would you hand me a loaf of bread and call it "roll bread" because, what's the difference, it's made out of the same stuff? Could you call a cake a "cup cake", even if it wasn't shaped like one? If you ran out of hotdog buns, could you throw a weenie between a couple slices of Wonderbread and call it "bun bread"? The bread's the same, no? And while we're at it, isn't a hamburger just a meatloaf? And why isn't Welches, wine? Anyway, society is clearly in decline. There was, of course, yet one more absurdity about this place. They don't have a toaster! Yes, you heard me right: A bagel place without a toaster! "Don't worry," the counter-boy quickly assured me, "we have a microwave." "Would you like your bialey bagel microwaved?," he asked. "Only if it's a toaster microwave," I replied. read more

Finally tried this place today and I don't see how I will be able to go anywhere else to get my bagel fix. The bagels were clearly fresh. I was a little overwhelmed by my options but settled for the Everything warmed up with cream cheese. Having read the reviews, I was prepared for no toaster and cash only. Those two things didn't even phase me, and if Bagel Fair ever got a toaster or accepted cards, I would only be here more often. This discovery will prove to be bad for my diet. Bagels are good, kettle cooked and baked just like I used to make them in NY when I was a younger man. Cash only, in 2015 that's really inexcusable. C'mon man - you don't give a bakers dozen, you charge $1 per bagel, and when I counted them I came up with 12. Boo. OK, I paid $10 cash for my "dozen", so there's a discount. No tax, I guess cash is king. Nice people, small - about the size of a Chinese "to go" place. Much better bagels than their local big chain competition. Missed a 5 star review for the price of a 13th bagel. If you know bagels, then you know this place sells bagels that meet a NYC bagel standard. I cannot eat any other bagel in town. You should know that, like other legit NYC bagels, these bagels don't keep. Buy and eat them in the same day. I'm sure there are a lot of folks who eat bagels at little cafes around Nora and Carmel and think, "Wow! This sure is a tasty bagel I'm eating, this little cafe makes great bagels!" What they don't realize is that the bagels were actually made at Bagel Fair, and they're probably paying double or triple the price for them. The best way to get bagels at Bagel Fair is to roll up at like seven in the morning on your way to work, when they first open up. This is when they have the greatest selection of bagels available. If you show up at noon, you're gonna have to fight to the death for the last remaining salt bagel (that's the best one!). The salt bagels are really good, and you can get a pretty nice bialy as well. When Monday morning rolled around, I found myself on the north side craving a quality bagel and had almost resigned myself to stopping into Panera or Einstein's. After a visit to my grad-school Bloomington home over the weekend, where delicious bagels inexplicably abound, I thought I had returned to a bagel wasteland. Bagel wasteland no more...Yelp strikes again! I'm not sure how I had never noticed Bagel Fair, since I'm at the Whole Foods in this strip mall very frequently. I guess the generic "BAGELS" signage never caught my eye. This is a straight-up NO FRILLS bagel shop, and I like it that way. And they have salt bagels **praise hands emoji**!! Cash only; no toaster, but they'll warm your bagel for you. There is a fridge unit to the left of the counter that holds cold drinks and tubs of their cream cheese. The bagels themselves are on their pricey side -- I paid about $3.25 after tax for a salt bagel with lox cream cheese, but it was worth it. A bagel and cream cheese + drink is basically a meal, anyways ... right? I'll be back often now that I know this gem exists, and I'm already planning to buy a tub of their lox cream cheese next time I stop by. The tubs were a good size and cost between $4 and $5, I think, which seemed appropriate for the quality of the product. read more

A month or so ago, I went back to Bagel Fair. We were getting ready to go out of town to visit family and we decided bagels would be a great thing to take along. I bought a dozen bagels and asked them to slice them in the store. The slicer was having a serious off day and ruined a couple, as well as slicing a few strangely (lopsided, as well as lopping off only a small portion of the bagel). However, I ended up with 14 bagels in the end as a bit of an apology, so no complaints there. Also, the cream cheese *is* to die for. Definitely pick some up if you stop in! Another thing I learned is that they do sell bagels individually, toasted, and with cream cheese added. If I lived in this area, it would be dangerous to my waistline because that would be my morning breakfast. Every day. read more

I've only had east coast bagel once so I wasn't aware until I read the other reviews how they compared. Way to go little ole Bagel Fair!! Were you aware this place existed? I was not until recently. If ever a place could be classified as 'unassuming,' this is it. Red channel letters on the exterior says "Bagels." That's it. Your bagels come in a brown paper bag. There's nothing cutesy. No coffee. Just an oven and a guy in back slinging stuff around as if he was born to do it. Oh - very tasty bagels. Tangy. I love this place!!! It looks kind of plain with just a large sign "BAGEL" out front. The bagels are so cheap (about a dollar a bagel) and so fresh. You can tell because I left a bagel a few days after I bought it and it was hard as a rock. When I went they had about 10ish types of bagels to choose from. The space inside is small so not really a space to enjoy your food, but who needs that when you're enjoying great bagels at a great price and supporting a local business! read more

I wish I could've given more stars because the bagels and food is amazing, but consistency is key!! Been here a couple times and the staff doesn't always keep the same rounding. Usually when I order a bagel and cheese, they heat the nacho cheese. Lately they have been serving it straight from the fridge, which leaves me an extra task to do! I'll have to microwave us every time when I get home. I understand wanting to have quick service, but inconsistency hurts the product!! Stopped in to grab a dozen bagels for a breakfast pitch-in, after hearing from friends that they were worth the trip. Thankfully I had cash on hand because they are a cash only shop. It's a small little shop, but the bagels are amazing. I stopped about 9:00am on a Saturday and the bagels were warm and fresh. It was quite busy, but full of regulars who know exactly what they want and order quickly (unlike me - the person who stalled the line while pondering the choices). I picked up both sweet and savory, including a pumpernickel bagel that was delicious with their homemade veggie cream cheese. Spent about $18 for 12 bagels and 2 tubs of their cream cheese, but it was worth it. Not a crumb was left! Next time I'll hide one of the apple bagels - they looked and smelled delicious. read more

Best bagels in town! If you want a real bagel, come here. I love to get the sesame bagel. There is coffee- but that's about it- sugar and cream, juice, water, etc. There's not much else, but nothing else is needed. Make sure you bring cash only- No cards accepted.
