The Only Thing Worth a positive comment about this place is their burgers are really good but $34 for two burgers fries and two Cokes is a bit steep. Went in on a thursday morning around 9:30 for a quick breakfast. We ordered two toasted bagels with peanut butter - something that should take about 3-4 minutes to make at most. We grabbed a table and waited....and waited....and waited. Our bagels finally came out over 15 minutes later. While we waited no other food came out of the kitchen at all, so it's not like they were really backed up and overwhelmed with orders. I also think it's a bit crazy to charge 50 cents to toast a bagel. I get that it takes time and energy to toast something, but if they really need to charge for it, I'd rather it was just added to the price of the bagel upfront. The 1 star is for the owners of this place financially raping me this past Friday. My partner and I headed to old town Orange the Friday after Thanksgiving to do some antique shopping. We got there kind of early, none of the stores were open yet, so we decided to walk around and ended up going here to have a bagel and a coffee. Years ago a coworker used to bring bagels from this company into the office so I knew the bagels were good, but I had never been in one of their stores. I will start by saying the lady behind the counter was fantastic and friendly, and the bagels were incredible. However, that's where my happy face disappears. I ordered two bagels, toasted, with cream cheese and one small coffee. I didn't even think twice when the cashier told me the total was $9.30 because I was in bagel heaven, about to eat carbs for the first time in a while. (Low-carbers... you get where I am coming from!) When I sat down and joined my partner at the table he asked me how much it was, to which I replied $9.30. He asked me "for what, what did you order?" I told him two bagels and one coffee. He then asked why was it $9.30. "The bagels are only $1.39 each?" I then drifted back into reality and looked up at the menu board and started doing the math.... $1.39 for each bagel seemed reasonable enough....a couple bucks for the coffee seemed reasonable enough....that would've been maybe five dollars. I then noticed we were charged $.40 each just to toast the bagels! Are you FREAKIN' kidding me??? Stick with me kids, it gets worse. I still wasn't coming up to $9.30, so I looked further on the menu board and then discovered we were charged almost $2.00 each to add cream cheese to our bagels. THE FUCKING CREAM CHEESE COSTS MORE THAN THE DAMN BAGEL??? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??? Needless to say I will never go back to this establishment. EVER. I strongly believe in small businesses making a profit, it's the American way, but don't just rip us off and expect everything to be OK. This is where your greed loses you a customer. I like to bring my staff treats every week and thought bagels around the corner from my house would be a good ritual. Oh my god was I wrong coming into the Circle's Bagel Me... now I know why I always go out of my way to get bagels for my staff. I had someone that was new- fine. I ordered myself the cheddar melt on a jalapeño cheddar bagel, a latte, and a "Meeting Special" (dozen bagels with 2 cream cheese). I gave her a $5 tip because I could tell she was having a hard time with ringing me up. After I paid, I asked if I should just grab the cream cheese from their fridge & was told it was extra. I told the new girl that according to the menu, 1 plain and 1 specialty cream cheese came with the Meeting Special. She had to check with her manager, Kim. Kim comes over, looks at the receipt and says they are going to void my transaction and charge me again. The difference was about $5... at first I thought- just charge me the difference. But Kim was being rude and NEVER had she apologized for the mix up so my tune changed! This is their error, NOT mine! What happened to Customer SERVICE? All she had to do is smile and apologize and ask me if it was OK to charge for the cream cheese. Instead she is trying to void the first transaction and start all over and acting like it's MY FAULT! Oh HELL NO! That is when I dug in my heels about what a teaching opportunity this is for her new employee on what Customer Service looks like! She ended up saying that she was "giving" me the cream cheese I ordered in the first place. Well consider me paying for it with the tip I wish I had never left at this point. You would think this is the end of my tale, but sadly no. Kim then brings me my Cheddar Melt but it ISN'T a Cheddar Melt- it is an Egg and Cheese Melt- I tell her this and watch her eyes roll!!! Are you f-omg kidding me??? I said to just forget it, I'll take the Egg and Cheese Melt because I just wanted to get to work. She then brings me my box so I can pack up my bagels myself- they are "self serve". I gather the dozen bagels and sit back down. Now Kim sees I'm sitting there and goes to talk to her staff to figure out why... it's at that point she realizes NO ONE has made the Latte I ordered! This was the WORST customer service EVER! It could've been handled SO differently. Instead, Kim's attitude makes me NEVER want to go to any Bagel Me ever again, share this horrible experience, and contact corporate so they know the level of attitude representing them. To Kim- all you had to do is smile and apologize and none of this would be posted! You had the opportunity to make a 5 Star review out of a situation full of mistakes but made the choice to be rude about it... bad choice. Bagel cravings are rare for me, but this morning it hit hard and strong. It's located in the Orange Circle so the ambiance is awesome if you want to sit outside and people/car watch and there 8 or 10 tables inside that seat 4 people each. I ordered the lox and cream cheese with tomatoes and onions and a egg, bacon and cheddar melt but made it into a bagel sandwich. Both were really good. I really liked the lox and cream cheese. They both came from a small container of cinnamon apples, which were delicious. My only unpleasant surprise was that the blueberry muffin was $2.95. Otherwise, I'd come back again. It pains me to rate Bagel Me so low As you'll see from my other reviews, I've had a love for Bagel Me since I started going years ago. I may live hours away, but whenever I'm in town (which is frequently), I make at least one trip to Bagel Me (if not more). The last couple of times I visited this one though, I've been disappointed. This last visit was the kicker. For some reason they don't have their menus on display on the walls. Not a big deal as I know what I want, but we had to wait until we got to the counter to get a hard copy of the menu for our party to look at. Anyways, I ordered my usual - bagel with lox, and the rest of our group ordered their meals and drinks. We went outside to wait for our food. The meals came out, and as usual, this location skimps on the lox. Lame but I'm prepared for it now. But then, they don't give me the onion bagel I ordered. Then with our group, they completely messed up on one order, getting the bagel completely wrong. They had to remake it. Now our drinks. Where are they? This happened the last time... they need more counter staff to actually make the drinks. I was practically done with my breakfast when they came out. They insisted that one was the mocha, and the other the latte. To the point where we were like 'ok, got it, this one is this and that is that.' My hubby take a sip of his scalding hot drink, while my MIL starts adding sugar to hers, only to find that they switched the drinks. And for both of them, they omitted the whipped cream. C'mon Bagel Me, what's going on?? It wasn't busy, and this stuff keeps happening! Unfortunately, we'll be going back to our old location and skipping this one. So they finally opened this joint in the Circle of Orange after months and months and months....it is part of a chain but this is probably the best location. I have tried most of their toasted bagels and sandwiches and they are fairly decent. Good for breakfast or lunch and they actually have some healthy options. Best part was the tons of seating outside which is usually where you can sit, eat, relax, enjoy the weather, and people watch. Call ahead for orders if your in a rush. read more
