Located on N. Tustin and E. Quincy near the Alta Dena Dairy. While there is no drive-thru, there is plenty of easy parking. Indoor and outdoor tables. I found this place online while searching for a solid burger, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the 1/4 lb Cheeseburger Combo. The burger was exactly what I was craving...very flavorful, made with Thousand Island, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and shredded lettuce. I specifically appreciate that they use shredded lettuce by default! The "fat fries" were perfectly salted and crispy, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. A savory grease bomb descended & exploded all over my pitiful palate. A war machine sandwich of ham & cheese steam rolled my tongue into a scarlet ribbon riddled with ecstatic taste buds. They take no prisoners here. Everyone finishes their entire order at Johnie's & nobody gets hurt. The fries here are a gym membership renewal waiting to happen. A whole ungodly mound of fries the size of newly hewn timbers in each order. The staff at Johnie's usually tosses in a couple lawn pools worth of ranch dressing to submerge each fry in. A freebie jalapeno, banana pepper station awaits all customers on the way out. I highly recommend snagging 3-4 green peppers upon exiting. Allow yourself to feel some heat in your face. read more

This is another place I've wanted to try for years. I was really surprised with all the options you have. They have a full breakfast menu, burgers, sandwiches,etc for lunch, and dinner items like fried chicken. I didn't order them this time but they have fried mushrooms. I love mushrooms. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a soda. I like that I got ranch dressing for my fries. Everyone must have been regulars, the lady working seemed to know them all. She was very friendly. I love the food at Johnie's. The Patty Melt is as good as you'll find anywhere. The Onion Rings, Zucchini and Fried Mushrooms are house made and they are amazing. I enjoy the breakfast too. The Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs special on the weekends can't be beat. The steak comes smothered in Country Gravy. The Hash Browns are crispy and crunchy on the outside, but soft and fluffy on the inside. It also comes with a choice of toast. They have Mexican Food, like Tacos, Quesadillas and Burritos. Of course they have a great selection of Burgers and Salads. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is excellent. Great place, located in Tustin a long Tustin avenue. Johnny's burgers is located in an old Taco Bell. This is one of those Taco bells from the '70s that had the cinder block and the arches and the bell and they've revamped it and it's pretty cool. I went with the patty melt this time which was delicious. You can also get onion rings or zucchini sticks instead of fries or do a mixture of them which is excellent. All you can drink sodas from the machine. This place has breakfast all day. A great selection of burgers and sandwiches and then of course Mexican Fare. My dad and I were Jonesing for some breakfast burritos and found this place was only a slight detour from my sister's..being that I've had Johnnie Jrs before, many years ago in La Palma, I thought it would be the same. It definitely wasn't. The service was ok but I asked for salsa on the side and the lady said I already put some semi rudly. She put one for two burritos, one... Then the burritos themselves may have been the worst breakfast burritos I've ever had. We got bacon and sausage and split them. The bacon was sooooo greasy it almost didn't taste fully cooked as it was soft. The amount of sausage was laughable, as it had maybe 2 or 3 links in an entire burrito. The burrito was also 80% hash browns, a clear filter as it's definitely the cheapest food in a breakfast burritos. It legit felt like I was eating greasy potato burritos with a taste of meat cheese and egg. In the end, I didn't end up finishing my halves and just tossed em. Pretty effing awful. I'll drive to R burger in Buena Park or Golden eagle next time I'm in town for a good breakfast burrito. read more

You order at front and they will bring out the food to you. Just keep your receipt so that they know which order is which. I ordered a steak and eggs for $18 and my boyfriend ordered a omelet ($13). Amazing old school burgers. Love the charbroil with shredded iceberg lettuce. Johnie's does a lot of things well. Fries, zucchini sticks... but an unsung star is their taquitos. Salsa (nice spice) and guac (great flavor without excessive sour cream) are out of this world. I got a veggie burger here. Like I said in other posts, I'm trying out all the different veggie burger locales in the City of Orange, and I saw this place and I thought, you know they might have one, let me get it. This location and building used to be a Taco Bell going back to the 1970s. It is located next to a Dairy, which has also been there many years. I used to come to Johnnie Jr's often enough many years ago. It's very different. I'm not trying to say that if the veggie burger is not good, the food is not good because the food is good. But this particular veggie burger was a 6/10 which was not particularly good. It takes a little bit of passion to make a good veggie burger, and I just don't think many places focus too much on that. read more

I absolutely love this place!!!! The food is amazing. I always drive past it on my way home and my husband and I decided to try it out. We were sorry we didn't try it any sooner. This is a no frills place (looks like an old Taco Bell) with a counter to order, and tables inside and outside. It was very busy when we arrived at 11:30am curious about the fries that prior reviews lauded. On a street where there are eateries everywhere you turn, I had to investigate with three of my cohorts. The woman at the counter warned that it would be about 20-25 minutes to get our food, which I was fine with. She probably had to mention because I saw several service providers in uniform who were probably on a tight lunch schedule. The menu is so extensive! We couldn't figure out if we wanted salads, burgers, sandwiches, or breakfast! So we got some for each menu, and the sodas are self-serve. She gave us extra napkins and seasoning salt for the fries... we couldn't even finish everything. 4 of us full for $50.... Not often that happens unless you're going to In n Out. The go to mom and pop burger shop I've been coming to my whole life. Kinda weird I didn't ever review this before (especially before this inflation hike ) but here we go! The Good: the food, the service, the owners. Best mom and pop burgers around. Remind me of a place I use to go to as a kid called Mantas. Love the diner atmosphere and the oldies playing in the radio. They got new digital TV menus now too! The Bad: it's very expensive to eat but it's understandable they gotta adjust to stay in business, parking is a little awkward, but it's not horrible. One way in, one way out and it loops around the side to the north. The south parking lot is connected to other business. Not big deal though. Food makes it worth it. I always get depressed every year on this date so I didn't have much of an appetite all day. Luckily I still wanted some pancakes mid afternoon so decided to check if Johnie's served breakfast all day. And they do! Ordered a 3 pancake special that comes with eggs and either bacon or sausage. I also ordered an orange juice. The total was only $12.11!!! Amazing. It was so tasty and comforting. You really can have breakfast anytime of the day. My husband and I usually order the breakfast burritos from here and it's consistently delicious every time with the right proportions. All of the employees are super nice too which is awesome! First of all, i love the fact they have orange bang. it's not that often you find places that have orange bang on tap.... that's a huge plus in my books. I also got a carne asada burrito. the burger was really good. the patty was kinda dry, but i suppose since i brought it home to eat it wasn't as "fresh" as when dining in. The chili cheese fries really hit the spot. As for the carne asada burrito, it was good by itself. they will offer you salsa, but it was too spicy for me. We are always in search of a great brunch place in the Tustin/Orange area and decided to try this place today. Located off Tustin Ave, with plenty of parking. The menu is extensive with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. It also includes many daily and combo specials. The restaurant was packed on a Sunday morning around 10am. Happy couples and families enjoying an affordable meal. The staff is extremely friendly and patient. We ordered the hamburger combo (drink and fries), club sandwich and side of onion rings. Order came out in about 8 minutes. My husband enjoyed the club sandwich - ham, turkey, vegetables on nicely toasted bread with a side of pickle slices. My hamburger, unfortunately, was not seasoned. Even with their spread, the burger was boring. I think the cook forgot to season the burger prior to grilling. The onion rings, with corn meal batter, was dense but also lacked flavor. I sprinkled salt and ate it with ranch & ketchup. Still not enough flavor. They weren't greasy but the batter needs salt/pepper/seasoning. Our meals came to under $28 with tax. Generally they are solid. However, I am updating my take here. My recent visit was not good. It was lunch, they were busy. The system they were using to take orders and serve those orders just was not working. While the line kept getting longer and longer, the cashier would step away to take orders out to tables(while there was a 2nd employee putting the orders together.) Perhaps the cashier should have stayed put taking orders while the 2nd employee could take the orders to the the tables. While standing in line waiting to place our order, my wife said "we can go somewhere else".....I should have listened. They said the order would take 20 minutes.....45 minutes later we finally got our order. I'm hoping we just caught them on a bad day. The food is fine, we still like it. If you walk in and there is a line to place your order, you may be better off going elsewhere as the service can be extremely slow. read more
