Went early on a Sunday morning and feel pretty good about the experience. Seating was available, and I tried their sausage egg and cheese bagel that was very tasty. I'd be curious to try their bagels separately as well as their other baked goods.

This is a bitter moment for me. Came here before the changed the name and had a great experience years ago and knew I had to stop in again under the "bagel miller" name. I went in and the cashier just stood there staring. Didn't offer any help, a greeting, nothing. Just stone faced and honestly very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I finally find the bagel board tucked behind the counter/glass and after trying to make a joke about my poor sight and the cashier still making everything extremely awkward I ordered a bagel With shmear and got out of there. She made it so weird I didn't even order a drink Or anything for the kids The bagel came out and I quickly got out of the store. Outside I unwrapped the bagel which looked appealing and a fair amount of chili crisp cream cheese on a garlic bagel. I took a picture to promote them and left. When I got to the car a block away I opened it and tasted it. The toast was good but the chili crisp cream cheese was extremely salty and unbearable. I forced down half the bagel while wiping half the cream cheese off but it was still just too salty. And since the cashier made it weird I didn't order a drink to rinse the salt down. I reached out directly explaining the situation and the owner confirmed "she's like that when she's tired" as if that makes it acceptable. Also stated they changed seasoning for the chili crisp cream cheese and never thought to taste the product before selling it. Every chef knows no matter what taste your food!!! So the final take was rude, unwelcoming, cashier, extremely salty unbearable bagel/schmear, and and owner who knows the problems are their and they dont taste "new recipes" before selling them. I'd say let this be a last resort consideration if even at all

Came in directly for the strawberry matcha latte which was delicious, well prepared, and look how photogenic! Had nothing but great service and the inside looks super cute. There's a decent amount of tables to sit, eat, and work at. Will be back to try the bagels next!

The sausage, egg, and cheese sesame bagel sandwich, was good but nothing crazy. The strawberry matcha was very good. It took a while to get the sandwich.

Hipster atmosphere in this little bakery and cafe. It's one of the longtime popular places in Lincoln Square. Baker Miller has recently changed up concepts a bit. Featuring mostly bagels now and a few pastries. The prices are from okay to kind of high mostly. Bagels are the main thing ever since this place has gone through a change. It's now set up more like a deli. There's a menu of bagels and spreads. Also there's coffee. The spreads are usually cream cheese, and a few of these are vegan. Strangely enough, none of the bagels are. What are you going to put the vegan cream cheese on then? Anyway they have a few vegan cookies. It's about $3 each. They had a Black & White one. Liked the frosting on it especially. There's a few other things on the menu such as pasta salad. For sure it's good to support a local business. It would help if they fixed a few things about it. Things like how about getting some more bagels because that supposedly is the main thing.

Plenty off bacon, but was not expecting scrambled eggs.

Well I'll start off by saying the bagel was delicious. Happy with that. But for 2 bagels and a black coffee, $25 seems a little steep for me. Not crazy, but a little expensive. Only issue with the bagel, called classic egg, however it was scrambled and mixed with milk. My wife was not able to eat hers because of the lactose. I would expect a fried egg, disappointed in that.

    The Big Eexd

WOAH these bagels were huge. We got the Big Exed which had everything you could possibly want for breakfast including egg, melted cheese, giardinera cream cheese, bacon, and a ton of pastrami. The menu had many other options as well that we are excited to try in the future. The inside of the shop was super cute and decorated in a fun, hip way. The reason why I'm giving 4 stars is the price and proportions. The bagel was about $16 which I think is wayyy overpriced, I guess they try to offset it by putting so much ingredients into the bagel in which case you will barely finish it or just feel super full for the rest of the day. It's also kind of hard to take half home because of how messy/greasy they get (at least for the one we got). I would prefer the price to be lower and have a smaller portion while not feeling like I'm going to explode after eating one bagel. If ordering with a friend I would definitely suggest splitting just one. Overall this place is worth a visit and we plan to come back soon.

Northsider Sandwich with Ham....not what I ordered. Complete waste of time & money.

Not sure. The patio is only accessible through restaurant so you might not be able to walk through. Not sure if they have other tables out front in the summer.

I haven't been to the location but have had these bagels consistently for over 10 years. The texture and flavor of the bagel is everything a NY bagel is and should be. Fluffy on the inside, somewhat crispy on the outside, and oh so thiccccccccck! Their cream cheese?! Ugh! Don't skip on it, seriously everything about this place is perfect. My go to selection is the egg bagel with chive cream cheese. It's chef's kiss and hits the spot. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME!!!!

If you're expecting this to be interchangeable with the franchised bagel places that have spread…read moreacross the country, recalibrate now. This is not that. I've been going to New York Bagel & Bialy for over 50 years, and places like this operate on a different clock, a different standard, and frankly, a different philosophy of what a bagel is supposed to be. Timing matters. If you show up after about 8:00 AM, your odds of getting bagels at their absolute peak--still warm, properly textured, with that slight resistance on the outside and softness inside--go up significantly. Earlier can be hit or miss depending on the batch cycle, but once they're in stride, this place delivers. The essentials are all here and worth your time: poppy seed, sesame, everything, and especially the bialys. The bialys alone are reason enough to make the trip--properly done, with the right chew and depth of flavor that you simply won't find in mass-produced versions. Don't overcomplicate it. Grab a dozen. On your way home, stop and pick up a couple packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese and some smoked salmon a jar of capers, a Bermuda onion--whether here or even from Walmart--and you've got a meal that outperforms most brunch menus at a fraction of the cost. This isn't trendy. It's not trying to be. It's something better: consistent, old-world, and still doing it the right way. If you're going to call something a bagel, the standard is not branding--it's process. That's why New York Bagel & Bialy on Touhy stands apart. They actually do it right: kettle-boiled first, then baked in rotating ovens. That single decision--boiling--changes the entire structure. It gelatinizes the outer starch layer, locks in density, and produces that thin, glossy crust with real chew. Without it, you don't have a bagel--you have bread with a hole. The rotating ovens matter too. They deliver even heat, which means you get the correct balance: a slight exterior crisp with a dense, elastic interior. No puffiness. No sponge. No collapse under toppings. That's the difference here. Most chains optimize for speed and shelf life, so they steam or shortcut the process. Many local shops land in the middle. This place doesn't compromise. If you care about what a bagel is supposed to be--not just what it's called--this is the benchmark in Chicago.

Two of us shared a half pound pastrami on rye with a side of hash browns. The rye was pretty decent but the pastrami was sliced far too thick and the meat was lean. That is not a good thing when it comes to pastrami and I attribute the lean meat to the deli catering to its hipster-ish audience. Although the flavor was decent, the sandwich was dry and difficult to eat. We disagreed on the generously sized pickle. One of us thought the flavor was just right, the other not so much. We both agreed on the hash browns. It's a no-go. They were well fried but entirely unseasoned. I understand the lack of schmaltz but there was no onion or salt or anything else. Waffle House has nothing to worry about. (IYKYK) Service was fast and polite. The space is tiny, but it works.
