This place has so many great options... from every bagel and cream cheese you could think of to the best combinations of freshly blended juices. I always feel like I'm doing my body good when I come to eat here. The only negative I have is that staff are not nice. Ordering and checking out, the staff always seem bothered... Usually like going here so I came here to get a pick me up when I wasn't feeling well. Midday on a weekday when there's not many people around so it's not like things were super busy. I went to get an iced chai latte which came out to $4.50 which is annoying but fine, but it was way way way too sweet. I asked for a re-do and that was way too sweet as well. I was coughing and still feel sick thinking of it. The service worker said that the powder is already sweetened, but then why wouldn't you just use less powder..? I am usually reluctant to come here because of the wait time, but the bagels are generally worth it. This morning I grabbed a bagel on my way out to work and didn't have time to eat it until I got into the office. I love this place. After moving into the neighborhood 4 months ago I was so sad that I wasn't going to find a good bagel place. I'm from Long Island and a bit of a bagel snob because the bagels are just so damn good there. Entering bagel pub I felt like I was back in a Long Island bagel store. I'm SO HAPPY this place opened. There are a few bagel places in this neighborhood but they almost exclusively serve bagels. Go figure that the place with bagel in it's name serves way more than just bagels. Thank god. The menu here is huge- breakfast options, salads, sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, tea, and probably a lot of other scrumptious things I haven't had yet. It's perfect for when you're in the mood for something quick and no one can agree on what to eat. I've been coming here consistently in the 2 or so months since this place has opened and my only real gripe is the slow service. I've waited upwards of 20mins for food when the place was almost empty (several times). To their credit, the employees at the register always notice when you've been waiting and "check on your order," although it still takes a loooong time to come out. So, don't grab something here when you're on a time crunch. Hopefully as time goes on they'll work out the kinks and get the service up to speed. read more

This place was wonderful! While staying in Crown Heights from out of town, we were looking for an easy place to grab breakfast from before hopping on the subway to head to Manhattan. During our week long stay in Brooklyn, my boyfriend and I got breakfast here three times. All visits were constantly delicious. They have a vast selection of cream cheeses, breakfast pastries, and lunch sandwich items. What impressed me the most was their coffee station (I am an iced coffee drinker). They had nonfat milk, 2% milk, half and half, soy milk, and almond milk available to customers. They also had an array of sugar (even the sugar in the raw in big containers!)-I also realize I am easily impressed, but this meant something to me! I've had a love hate relationship with this place for some time now and I've finally had it this morning. I've been here many times, downloaded their app, and supported their business since they opened. Although every weekend it's a mess in there I keep going because their bagels are good - this is why I'm giving them two stars. What's ridiculous and will ultimately cost them business is their customer service. The first time I had a bad experience with them I had made a 4 bagel order, they forgot butter and jam on one of the bagels (they just gave me a plain bagel) and when I called to complain they refused to have someone deliver the right bagel just 1 block away or give me a refund. They had nobody on staff to bring the bagel the manager said. Mind you when I went in there were like 10 people behind the cash register. All that said, I've been again and today was the straw that broke the camels back. I ordered just 8 bagels, nothing on them, and two small tubs of cream cheese. It took 15 minutes to get my order and the place was not busy (Monday morning way before rush hour). Again, they had 4 people taking orders and 4 people at the register - what is everyone doing? When I asked about my order I got an annoyed reply with "they're making it now" like it was my fault they forgot it. Then I was asked twice by two different people what order I was waiting on. I had already seen 3 people that came after me leave with their orders and once they deliver their orders the guys in the back were just messing around - I could see them. Bottom line is if you can't get a simple order down there in lies the issue with your business and why I won't be returning. read more

I really enjoyed this place. Its so clean. The customer service was great. I got their carrot cake which I really enjoyed! The cake was moist and the frosting was absolutely delicious. They do take cards here. I tried their chicken hummus sandwich as well and it was delicious. The chicken was not dry. I will definitely be going back there again. The vibe when you walk in is so oblivious that only a certain criteria of customers are welcome. I lived in the area for more than 49yrs and the local people dont go in because of racial separation. How the customers are treated according to race needs to be corrected. The cashiers up front are nasty and hostile. I have to admit I love their bagels but the unwelcome behavior from the staff has drawn many customers away including myself. The manager is a great guy but the owner needs to address these issues. This is not a community of separation. That corner bagel shop is definitely an isolated spot.. I asked my neighbor does he go to the bagel shop yesterday his response was amazing. Bagel Pub is so wonderful! I have been twice since it opened; it is way too hip! They have a lot of cream cheese options - I have tried the bacon and scallion as well as cheddar and bacon (not an everyday place for sure). It can get crazy in there but they do a great job at moving the line and getting people in and out. I order turkey bacon and cheddar, they give me turkey, bacon and cheddar(I even confirmed with the person taking the order TURKEY BACON)I order turkey bacon and cheddar, they give me pork bacon, egg and cheese. I never learn my lesson. CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE. Sometimes the shop may have only 5 customers but it still takes 27 minutes (I timed it) for my order to come out. It wasn't until I asked for a refund that my order came out. Prices vary depending on who rings you up. I can pay $6 or about $4 and change depending on the cashier. I continuously give this place another chance to redeem themselves after a not so ideal experience but I've given up hope. I cannot be a fan of any business where the customer service always fails. On any visit you're likely to encounter an employee with a bad attitude- it can be over the phone or in person. Simply ordering can be a hassle. They stopped doing phone-in orders and GrubHub would have to be used for pickup/delivery. This was a positive since you no longer had to deal with an unpleasant or annoyed person taking your order, however, a lot of times ordering is disabled and has the restaurant as CLOSED during normal business hours. The restaurant is never actually closed and on many occasions not too busy. Ordering ahead of time for pickup on apps such as GrubHub serves a purpose for people that do not have the option of waiting 40 minutes for food. Bagel quality is the only criteria that really matters to me when choosing a bagel place, and the bagels are very good here. Not quite destination-level, but they are definitely the best I have had in the neighborhood, appropriately crusty, chewy and not excessively doughy. I have been twice, both times around 9:30-10am and while the bagels have been fresh, they have never been still warm. Maybe that's too much to ask, but something I have experienced at other bagel spots at that time of day (including the pilgrimage-worthy Bagel Hole in Park Slope and even Olde Brooklyn on Vanderbilt) and at least for my money, it's pretty much the pinnacle of bageling. Aside from that, the rest of the experience is solid. The cold brewed coffee has been excellent on both of visits, comparable to the Sumptown cold brew on tap at Breukelen Coffee House across the street, which was a pleasant surprise. The guy who takes your order is very warm and gregarious and the rest of the staff has also been friendly. Service is a little slow, which seems to be a function of it still being relatively new. On my first visit, a toasted bagel with cream cheese took 10 minutes, which was frustrating, but today, a toasted bagel with fresh lox, cream cheese, tomato, capers and onions took half as long, so that very limited sample would indicate their systems are improving, at least. Aside from continuing to streamline service and staggering their baking to offer still-warm bagels, they could use a few dog leash hooks on the front benches, but overall, this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. read more
