I just created a yelp account so I could review Bagel Pub. I really enjoy the food here, but am taking away 1 star for the service. I've had my share of NY bagels, but nothing as good as these - soft on the inside with a nice thin crust. They have an amazing selection of cream cheese that you don't often see at other places (guacamole cream cheese, omg!) As I said, the food is good, but my last 4 visits were fails: [EDIT: make that 5 in a row now, 3 days after writing my original review] 1. I ordered a plain bagel, NOT toasted, and paid extra for a flavored cream cheese. I received a plain bagel, toasted (eww), with plain cream cheese. It was very...plain, but I ended up giving it to a co-worker because I don't like the taste of toasted bagels. And why would you toast a *fresh* bagel anyway? 2. The usually soft doughnut I bought (I believe they come from Dough) was completely stale. 3. The usually soft and chewy caramel pecan cookie I bought was as hard as a rock. 4. I often order the #7 specialty sandwich, which is chicken, mozzarella, portabello mushroom, and balsamic vinegar on a roll. This sandwich is so delicious that I dream about it all the time and don't even mind that it always takes at least 10 minutes to make. On the last one I ordered they forgot to add the balsamic vinegar which is really what makes this sandwich great. I didn't feel like going back (having just arrived back in town after a 5 hour bus ride) so I ate it with utter disappointment. This is an $11.15 sandwich and I see they already raised the prices from when they opened less than a year ago. 5. [Added 3 days after writing my original review] I arrived just as they opened and ended up being the first customer, so I was thrilled about getting a super fresh bagel. I asked that it not be toasted, emphasizing the NOT TOASTED part. So of course it got toasted. I really don't get it. Please stop toasting bagels when you are specifically asked not to! I will still continue to come here and am glad they expanded their hours, so now I can stop in after work. But there is still room for improvement. read more

Pros: large assortment Cons: price, quality doesn't justify price, no attention to preparing foods in the way you requested. This place does the job if you want to call it that I guess. They have an assortment of breakfast foods and bagels that can't really go wrong because it's really not possible to mess those things up that bad. They're not amazing but they're not super gross. Average or below average depending on bagel flavor. What they do mess up is the lack of attention they pay to directions of how they prepare your food. I'm not gonna go back inside and complain about how my bagel was not extra toasted after I already took a bite from tit. Another thing they did mess up that bad is their ridiculous pricing. This is brooklyn, in what world do they think it's acceptable to literally pay $10 for a plain bagel with cream cheese and a cinnamon raisin bagel with specifically requested tiny bit of cream cheese and peanut better. There's still delis across the street selling bagels for a dollar. The point isn't that I should just go to those instead but how bagel pub plants itself in a poor community as this overpriced establishment but they literally have nothing to justify it I'm not even expecting them to get anything right expect bagels since that's their name. The best they have to offer is that they have a large assortment but they're not good on anything else Not the quality Not the preparation Nothing There's literally never a reason to go here unless for some reason you just want to pay extra for overpriced below average bagels or you want a really obscure cream cheese flavor that they're more likely to have than a regular deli read more

This place is so badly managed. Every time I come it feels like my order is forgotten about. Totally understandable that they're busy but somehow I always end up having to ask if they still have my order and like clockwork the ticket either goes missing or has fallen behind a bunch of other orders. They're always super apologetic so I can't blame the staff. I get it. But it happens every time I'm there. I can almost guarantee if I'm going there before I'm going to work I'm going to be late. And delivery from there is it's own mess of always missing items. The trouble it takes in trying to sort out the missing item makes it not even worth it. read more

I come here almost every morning before I go to work and I recently got five points but I never received my $2 dollars off promo code. When I asked the first worker she said she didn't know and all I had to do was give my phone number since it's registered with my debit card then the next morning I believe the supervisor said to speak to her tomorrow about it. My go-to bagel place. If you're coming in on a Saturday or Sunday, which is usually the case for me, you just have to accept that you'll be waiting in a long line before you can order, then you have to wait again to pay, then you have to wait again to get your food. It seems like, given how many people come here and how hectic it gets, they do the best they can to bang out orders as efficiently as possible, but it is a ridiculously long wait for a bagel. Not sure if this says something bad about them that it takes so long, or me that I go there and willingly wait that long for a bagel with cream cheese. Maybe both? Whatever - the bagels are good. Garlic and chive cream cheese is my jam, so when I'm craving it, I'm willing to wait for it. read more

Do yourself a favor and go here for breakfast. The everything bagels are probably my favorite that I have tasted in New York. They are made fresh in-house but are not overly bread-y. It's a perfect balance between bagel and cream cheese. Bacon Scallion is my favorite cream cheese here, but I'm sure they are all great. My fiance raves about the Cinnamon Croissant and the Cinnamon Rolls as well. The staff is super helpful and friendly, and we are so glad to have this spot in our neighborhood! read more

Definitely a go-to for a quick breakfast or lunch! The menu is extensive, definitely something for everyone, and everything tastes fresh. The salads are great if they didn't forget the dressing, which has happened almost every time I've ordered a salad. Now I double check to see if their is dressing before leaving. The place gets busy and the organization of calling out your order is a bit chaotic, but overall a great place! The tuna or chicken salad with cranberries and walnuts is amazing on a blueberry bagel as well as their tofu cream cheese options! The only thing I've seemed to be disappointed in is their baked goods. They are definitely not hot and fresh, they may order some of the baked goods from somewhere else. I have had these bagels as pre-hike sustenance (ABC special- bacon/egg/cheese/avocado on a bagel) as well as when I just need a good toasted bagel with cream cheese. Bagel Pub, I wanted to love you. I wanted to love you so hard. But I'm just gonna reiterate what many of the other reviews here have said. The first time I went, it took literally 30 minutes for me to order a bagel with cream cheese. 30 minutes. I clocked it. I didn't even want it toasted! What's that about? Today I went in for the same thing and it took a whopping 10 minutes. At 4pm on a Wednesday afternoon. With like three other people in line before me. The interior is beautifully decorated but confusing. There are no signs that point to where the line begins, or where you're supposed to order, and the staff just sort of dead-eye stares at you as you try to figure it out without being helpful, or talks amongst themselves and ignores you. Once your order is taken, who knows what happens or where you're supposed to go. I guess you just sort of have to wait around for a while until someone calls out your name. And there isn't much space to wait around in, because there are chairs crowded near the cash register/entrance area. There are also no prices or anything on the cookies/pastries. Today, after ordering from a guy who could barely pull himself away from a conversation with some other people who'd already ordered to dane to take my order, I asked the girl at the register (also deep in conversation with some coworkers, barely paying attention to what she was supposed to be doing) how much some cookies were, and she said they weigh them per pound so it depends on how many I order. I told her how many I wanted, and then she punched a seemingly arbitrary price in on her computer, without weighing anything. Then a minute or two later, once I'd received my bagel, I had to interrupt the conversation she was having with her coworkers again to remind her that I ordered them before she remembered to give me what I paid for. She was nice about it at least, I guess ??? I worked in a bagel store as a teenager. I know you can figure this out, guys. The place itself seems clean and nice and the bagels are A+, so I gotta give it at least three stars. I know BP is still new, so I'm hoping that with a little more training the employees will learn how to actually do their jobs. read more

I will throw it out there, best bagel I have had in my life. All the negatives on here are annoying. Service is very good and the staff is very friendly. On the weekends it's crazy crowded and lots of people talk about the layout which is odd at best. But go through the "long line" in less than 10 min and have some hot doughy goodness in the form of delicious bagels and I think it's an all around win. I had one issue where they forgot something in my order and they rectified the missing food and offered me a cash refund on the spot. So even when I had an issue it was taken care of. If you want a traditional NYC bagel on Franklin avenue then head here. I read comparisons to Nagles across the street and they fall flat. Nagles has okay bagels. I'm starting to get a little fed up with this spot. As another person stated in their review IT'S LIKE THERE IS ZERO ORGANZIATION HERE! They should definitely look about getting signs for where to order and where to wait for the order. Also, an experienced manager is NEEDED! There's so much confusion, especially the busier it gets, around the cash register. As big as this spot and as many guys are behind the bagel counter they guys are SLOW LIKE A TURTLE!! Like hello people are going to the train you would think they'd work a little faster. Once again, ZERO ORGANIZATION! Then to top it off there's this one confused looking doofy guy that takes bagel orders in the morning who has messed up my order not once but TWICE! Both times I didn't realize it until I got in to work. And forget about the cashiers aka baristas. They seem like a confused bunch that has never worked in a coffee/bagel shop before. During the week it looks like a normal, plain bagel deli. On the weekends it's a nightmare. I don't know where all the people have come from. It's a packed like a club bar. Oh... maybe that's why it's called a Pub? The bagels themselves are solid, and there's tons of good cream cheese options. I'm especially fond of the sundried tomato cream cheese. I freaking love this place. I come here every weekend and it never disappoints. The lines are long but worth it. I have never seen the workers slacking or doing anything besides quickly moving through the line that sometimes never ends. The iced banana latte is stellar. Highly recommend the whole wheat everything. I tell myself every time that I'll try something new, but it's too good to waver. The manager seems to know what's going on in his store and that's pretty impressive. Bagel Pub is apart of my weekend routine! Great variety of menu options and the cream cheese display is HEAVENLY. Highly recommend their blood orange iced tea. Can get a little pricey, but comparable to other shops in the area. Only downside is their crowd control. There is no proper place to stand waiting for your food order. It's a bagel place that has a few seats for people who don't want to take the bagels home. They actually have a pretty good amount of seating for a bagel place. It only looks like there's never a seat because the place is so good that it's always packed. The food is really good. The bagels are really good and the sandwiches are really good. The people are really friendly. If you're expecting a fine dining experience from a bagel place or a pizzeria I think you need to get a better understanding of the establishment you're walking in to. I am really happy that there is such a good place for breakfast in this neighborhood that is not a sit down restaurant like Toms. I think it's still to early to give this review, as they just opened a few days ago and I know things can be chaotic at the beginning. I went at non rush hour and my bagel only took a few moments to make. I think the layout of the restaurant limits its ability to be a good pre-work coffee spot. The line starts in the back and it creates a lot of traffic buy the registers. Also the table for creams and sugars is very small, I had to wAit longer to put milk in my coffee than to actually get my bagel. Wish the menu was up instead of in small menu pamphlets. They have a nice selection of bagels, salad, soups, oatmeal and even quesadillas. I ordered the lox special, it weighed so much ! It was probably because of the massive amount of cream cheese, I literally think they put a full cup of it! A mess to eat, but a yummy one. As for the bagel itself, is not bad. Im giving this 4 stars with a HUGE WARNING. The food has always been very good for what I usually get. For bagels in this area it doesnt get much better. The service has always been good enough to not stress me out or make me upset. The HUGE WARNING about this place and something you have to consider before stepping foot inside is that it can be extremely busy all the time on the weekends. Like to the point of not wanting to go in at all. I assume its a lot of foot traffic from people in the area to see the park and museum. But be warned if you want to get a bagel in this area its the place to go but it comes with risk factors of a highly crowded and busy place. Where you wont be able to sit properly and will have to wait some time based on the crowd. So if a quick stress free pick up is what youre looking for then id go elsewhere. read more

best bagel & lox i've ever had! place is very popular for a reason. not a lot of seats (mostly 2 tops) but seats did open up quickly. my family of 4 were able to grab 2 tables soon after ordering. there's a garden area for more dining space but with the damp cool weather, not conducive for us & our 4 year olds. my wife had the abc: guacamole, egg etc. had a bite & it was awesome. 1 kid had plain bagel & a huge awesome smear of cream cheese. the other had a bacon egg & cheese on toasted sour dough. many other options to select besides bagels. their pancakes looked amazing too. read more

Fun and upbeat bagel joint if you are in the Brooklyn, Crown Heights area! Great vibes, young crowd, TONS of options as far as traditional smears, sandwhiches, and wraps. There was a problem once where I ordered turkey bacon and made it back to work sat down, opened my sandwich, getting ready to dig in.....& it was pork bacon (I do not eat pork).
