I use to love this place, but now it is EXTREMELY poorly managed. Tried calling an order for pick up and was on hold for over 15 minutes before I hung up. Literally walked there faster. Then it took FOREVER to be checked out. Three girls behind the counter and no one at the register. Then I tried telling the white girl check me out and she "Okay" and gave me attitude. Their breakfast sandwiches and wraps are pretty good, I like the vegetarian omelette in a wrap. They offer some of the best iced coffee around and their smoothies are amazing. Good bagels, terrible organisation. Not clear where to order, what you can order (the menus are at the far end of the place!! Not smart), it's ridiculous. I order a bagel with egg and butter and the dude taking the order looks at me aggressively and says "that's all???" as if that was a crazy order... Had a very satisfying egg everything bagel (which is my go to bagel that not every bagel place has!) with lox and scallion cream cheese. The wait was somewhat long but I was lucky enough to get seating on a weekend along with two of my friends, which is not something you could say at any bagel joint. My favorite bagel spot in the city. Great food, great coffee, and great service. I am there on a regular basis and have never had any issues. My favorite part is that they have a system in place for taking food orders and getting in line. Too often, places overlook that and ordering becomes chaotic on a Saturday or Sunday and it's a huge turn off. This place is aces. read more

I come here every so often and order a bagel with whitefish. Every time I get it to go. When I go to eat it, it has chopped raw red onions in it, lol. I didn't ask for onions, just whitefish. Yuck, it's such a gross combo, and because they're all chopped up, you can't pull them out. Happy to be a customer, after giving Bagel Pub another chance I can say it's an amazing place for a quick bite breakfast or lunch you can't go wrong. There customer service is awesome, nothing better than a business that will take the time to read customer reviews and take action. It does get pretty busy but that has not seem to affect the quality of your order. It has now become my go to breakfast of lunch spot. The prices are fair and the portions are generous. I love the pumpernickel everything with the cran/apple tuna salad or the chicken cran salad. All the ingredients are fresh and seasoned perfectly. The shroom burger is by far my favorite thing on the menu. It has such a depth of flavor with the two different kinds of cheese and dressing. read more

I have been here several times now. Every time I step into this place, the cashiers are very rude. They talk among themselves and ignore my presence. I have to interrupt their conversations to get my order. Then it takes another god knows how long for them to make my order. I came here to get a muffin *which is already pre-made* and had asked for it to be toasted...which should take no longer than 5mins. I waited 20mins to get my PRE-MADE muffin toasted. It's ridiculous. This place has potential but needs to get their act together. It's extremely unorganized and inefficient in managing their orders. The staff is very slow and unwelcoming. Honestly, despite once being a fan of Bagel Pub, today's interaction went a long way in knocking them a few pegs down for me. My husband and I went in and ordered, among other things, a gravlax sandwich. Got home and halfway through the first half, I realized that the sandwich didn't have any salmon in it. I don't live super close to BP, so I tried calling to see if I could just get a refund and only got a busy signal. (Apparently they don't answer their phone on weekends). Finally packed up and walked 15 minutes back, because money doesn't grow on trees and I paid $12 for a $4 sandwich, only to be given the third degree by the folks at the register for having eaten half the sandwich and not come back sooner. I was totally honest with them, acknowledged that I was hungry and basically wolfed down the first half before I realized something was missing, and came right back when I realized the issue. I've been in this position before at other bagel shops--not often, but it does happen--and it's not particularly hard to apologize and either offer a refund or to remake the sandwich. Instead, the cashiers were extremely rude, didn't apologize, and after initially telling me there was nothing they could do, said that they could only give me a side of fish (!!?) or put some fish on the remaining half (!!?), which at that point had become cold and soggy. When I told them I just wanted a refund, they refused. Honestly, I would have even just accepted a credit for the fish I didn't get, but they wouldn't give me that, either. The manager wasn't around, but when I told them I would wait until he returned if I had to, they unsurprisingly relented and remade the sandwich. But it was a Pyrrhic victory. Throughout it all, one of the cashiers was extremely rude -- laughing, rolling her eyes, pointing, talking about me, and making rude gestures. It left a bad taste in my mouth after being a frequent flyer at both their Park Slope and Crown Heights location. At other local shops, I'm confident that you would be comped the sandwich or at least given some water or a coffee while you waited for them to remake it. I guess the expectation here is that you'll conduct a forensic examination on every bagel sandwich you order right when they hand it to you, and that it's no skin off their backs if you pay four times the cost of the sandwich you ultimately get. Regardless, my husband -- who used to work in restaurants -- was pretty appalled. I was, too. Busy or not, it costs nothing to tell a customer you're sorry they didn't get what they ordered, and offer to make it right without them having to argue for twenty minutes. Hard pass. read more

My girlfriend and I were on a walk one Saturday afternoon to grab a Latte and breakfast sandwich from a Starbucks right down the street from Bagel Pub as we do quite frequently, when we spotted "The Bagel Pub". We had just moved to NYC and knew they were infamous for bagels and we hadn't had a proper NYC Bagel yet, so figured we would try out Bagel Pub instead. We walked in and it was not very busy, given that we happened to go after their rush period. We were greeted and given a menu of all of their offerings. We ordered our breakfast sandwiches and then our Latte's and took a seat until our name was called. All I can say further about our experience is that it has become a weekly tradition that we go and grab breakfast and a latte. I can't say much to their cream cheese selection other than the fact that they have a TON of options. Each time we say that "we'll try the cream cheese next time". But each and every time, we end up ordering our egg sandwiches. Bagel Pub is absolutely amazing! If you are reading this, wondering if you should take the trip to try it out. DO IT. You wont regret it :) Quick little Update. I still love Bagel Pub and my Fiance and I still go back every weekend we're in New York. Sadly we have moved from Brooklyn to Manhattan and we are no longer in a nice weekend walk to the Pub. But this place is good enough for us to take the hour train to get it still. Placed order ahead of time. Get there, wait online to get my order and its not done. Ok so i sit to wait only to have some plaid shirt snot nosed brat behind the counter start questioning her coworkers about if i am just hanging out in their 900 degree store front. It would be cooler to wait outside. Upon my answering right behind her that i was there for a pickup, she looks at me and doesn't even have the grace to say anything. I drop 100-200 every visit but had stopped coming cause the service was so slow. Decided to try it again today after 6 months to see if they were better- still don't understand how they have so many people and yet are still so slow. Lady behind the counter is telling me that Because i ordered ahead of time at 8:05 that people that walk in are served ahead of online orders. Cool but i walked in at 8:10 and asked for the order therefore there should also have that same respect for my order. Some guy intercedes to make his point that it takes time. When i say yes but if i walked in at 8:10 then i would expect my order to be done by 8:30. His excuse "it's a large order". Its 4 egg sandwichs and 4 omelets at best. Upon leaving he says to order earlier next time. Its not an issue simply wont be a next time. At least the guy was not as rude as plaid shirt brat who also splashed me with coffee and had the nerve to ask if she did it. UPDATE: got all the way to the city and found out that they only included 1 of each of the egg sandwiches that I ordered and forgot 1 bagel out of the 7 that I ordered. Called and the "manager" says he will give me a sandwich the next time I am in. When I tell him I am not coming in ever again I am suddenly lying about the sandwiches that were in the bag. That is called theft. Plus they gave me the wrong bagels of what I did order. So that means when I got in at 8:10 and left at 8:33 (yes I timed it ) It was for 2 egg sandwiches 1 wrap and 3 omelettes. Nevermind order was placed before and Nevermind that previous times its taken 20 min when I have JUST ORDERED ONLY bagels and cream cheese. Not anything done to the bagels mind you- just thrown in a bag and maybe 4 diff cream cheese. lets also never mind the plaid shirt insulter that also then thinks its ok to "pretend" to splash coffee on me. IF this is what you consider good service you really need to re-look at your priorities. That stated, your set up is crazy. I have worked the line in restaurants in the Hamptons that put out over 500 dinners in less than 3 hours and did so with way less people than you have working there. Your staff are unorganized, get in each others way, are usually too busy working each of their "clicks" and most importantly are not customer focused. read more

I'm not sure what everyone is expecting but this place is so much MORE than a Bagel store. The atmosphere is very homey and its very inviting once you walk in the door. Have you ever been to a bagel store that you just get your bagels and leave? This place has a huge variety of cream cheeses ( my fav is scallion/tofu=delicious). The bagels are fresh, nice size, soft in the middle and just enough crisp on the outside. Prices are relatively reasonable as well. I've been in here 4 times now and its very clean and the food is always fresh. Their smoothies are awesome as well. I think its great they are so busy, because that means everyone in the neighborhood really likes it. I've been to their 9th street location as well and the demand is just as high there. Their organization of ordering flows pretty well too for such a large crowd. Get on line, order, get your slip, follow traffic, walk forward to the register, pick up food/pay and leave. This is NY, people, you have to wait for what you ordered and have patience. Yes, I understand everyone wants there food 5 seconds after their order has been placed but a busy place like this , you have to wait- welcome to NY. If you want food in 5 seconds, go to McDonalds where they microwave frozen stuff for 30 seconds and it tastes like rubber. I have ordered large party platters from the 9th street store and they were fresh, large and a big hit for everyone. I'll be placing a big order soon from the Franklin Ave location as well and have no doubts it will be great.
