This place has really good food. They have tons of options for what to eat for any meal of the day. They have amazing bagels, they're definitely waiting for. The only problem that I have with this place is the customer service. When I walk in and order I greet the workers and place my order all I get told is "Ok" then I wait and when I pay I just get told the price. I say thank you have a great day, and there's no response. There's one employee in particular that's very rude, but I'm not out to cause any problems, just be wary and have a lot of patience if you go inside to something. I usually get the chicken Cesar wrap on a whole grain tortilla (they have 3 options: regular,whole grain, spinach) It comes with a small salad (macaroni, potato or egg (i think), a can of soda, and a bag of lays chips. it costs 9$ with tax. Bagels & Brew is only about 3 blocks away from where I work so it's very convenient for me to order breakfast. Their bagels are out of this world! They are super fresh and baked in house; in my opinion they have the best bagel in Astoria & to top it off they have a unique and amazing cream cheese selection. The reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because when placing orders (in person or on the phone) there seems to be a lot of miscommunication. Sometimes you get the right order but on the wrong bagel and sometimes it's the wrong order all together. When you call to let them know of the mistake, they try to blame you. What kind of a business does that?! Just fix the mistake, I don't need an excuse. When they do come with the correct order the delivery guy has a huge attitude. I've come here a few times and I have been happy on each occasion. The people who work here are super friendly, it's very noticeable that they pay attention to being friendly. It's a small store, it's your typical deli, nothing out of the ordinary. I've had the sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel and a bagel with scallion cream cheese and both are very solid. Such bad customer service. Their only menu is listed on GrubHub and I thought their prices were great. Apparently, their prices are DOUBLE than was is advertised. When we called to inquire, we were accused to be liars because of what prices were "supposed" to be. So disappointed at their lack of customer care. Just go to Brooklyn Bagel a few blocks away. This place is bomb! It wasn't until we reflected on our breakfast here that we realized how good it was -- particularly considering the price. For about $11.50 we had two breakfast sandwiches, a coffee and a huge soft baked cookie (I can't say no to huge cookies -- even at breakfast)! The eggs were fluffy and fresh. The bagels were outstanding -- of course. Soft/chewy and full of flavor. Not too salty. Not stale. Just fresh! The food wasn't served as one would expect fast food and so at first I was getting impatient (after waiting for 3 whole minutes), but then when the sandwich came out and I realized it hadn't come out in just 1 minute because they had been preparing real food, I was quite pleased. The space is small so there aren't many places to sit (maybe 3 tables?). We got there bright and early (for a Sunday) and JUST missed the morning rush. It took well over an hour to get my food which is crazy b/c I live within 5 mins walking distance. My food was cold. Coffee: cold. Just overall not worth it. I wish I could give this place 10 stars, they are that fantastic!!! First of all, the food is consistently good: bagels, coffee, sandwiches, breakfast platters--we've never had a complaint. In our home, this place is a must for coffee in the mornings and breakfast on the weekend. But to make it even MORE delightful, the folks working there are incredibly friendly and the service is quick. They always have a second for a joke, a smile, or just to see how you and your family are doing. So of course, when I had a function to throw at work, I immediately pushed for Bagels & Brew to cater. This was the best possible decision we could have made. Not only did Debbie, the owner, help us custom build our order, but she gave us a great discount as we are a local community service organization. When I submitted the estimate to my program director, she literally said "Wait, this is for breakfast AND lunch???!!! This place is amazing!!" Fast forward a bit and Sandy hit us all really hard. Debbie was incredibly kind in reducing our order last minute when we realized the bulk of our attendees wouldn't be able to get to us on the day of our event. Even when we said it was not necessary, Debbie insisted on giving us a break. The morning of, Debbie and her staff were fantastic. I live a block from the store, and they actually offered to give me a ride to work that morning!! (WHO DOES THAT?!!) The food was ready on time and it was delicious. There were no pre-made sandwiches with mushy bread--these heroes were fresh and fantastic. The bagels were wonderful and the coffee and tea spread were perfect. The folks on my team at work are still raving and have decided to make this our go-to place for future events. I grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island; essentially the bagel capitals of the world, in my eyes, so I'm a bit of a connoisseur, if I do say so myself. These are the best bagels I've had in Astoria. Real bagels, the way they should be. The only thing holding them back from being 5-stars is that they're never fresh out of the oven, at least when I'm there. Great mini bagels - they have a variety of them too (sesame, whole wheat, everything) whereas a lot of bagel stores only make plain minis. Not a huge fan of their large bagels (too doughy - seem slightly undercooked when I have gotten them) but nice staff and good coffee! read more

I've been coming here for about a year so I'm a regular. Really good bagels but whoever is behind the register needs a class in customer service. One time my total came out to $4.73 and I gave them my debit card. The woman's response was "$5 min, you can either buy something else or I'll charge your card $5". I owned a business so I know you can swipe the card even if the total is 50 cents. That wasn't bad. Several other times my totals have came out to a dollar amt and some change (2 or 3 cents), and they have literally given me pennies and dimes back. Having 9 dimes in your pocket is annoying. I'm not asking for free things, but as someone who spends a decent amount of money there every week, I would expect some appreciation...like all the other shops in Astoria. I'd rather spend more money at NYC Bagel House and have someone respect the business I give them, than spend less and walk around with pennies in my pocket bc people don't want to give away their quarters. read more

Though I'm pretty loyal to Brooklyn Bagels due to their great service and ambiance, I have to admit that I prefer the bagels at Bagels & Brew. Bagels & Brew serves up a crispy-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside bagel that is perfection by itself or a great foundation for a breakfast sandwich. With other local bagels, I feel like I'm eating a dense loaf of bread, and can feel the bagel sitting in the bottom of my stomach all day. These, however, are both crunchy and fluffy - and for that, five stars. Their coffee definitely needs work. Woof. But for bagels alone, I would say these are some of the best in Queens. read more

I love this place. I can't speak for their bagels, never tried them, but they make really delicious egg sandwiches and salads. My favorite was egg whites and cheese on a multigrain croissant, but I guess they've since stopped making the multigrain croissant because they haven't had it the last few times I stopped in. I've also had their Greek salad with grilled chicken which was great. Good coffee too. The people behind the counter are friendly, and keep everything moving at a speedy pace (which is good for most people who just wanna get in a get out, others might feel a bit rushed). I'm really upset that I got ripped off this morning. I went in to grab breakfast because this WAS my go to spot for bagels. I've always previously ordered from seamless and was always happy with the food and delivery was usually within the estimated time. Anyway, I walked in and they took my order right away, 2 bagels with a side order of cream cheese and a coffee. After paying $9, I kept thinking it was more than I usually pay and so I checked and it should have been $7.25. Yes, it's only $1.75 but it's the principal of it. Pretty fresh, nothing spectacular but really good. that being said, everytime i order from these people they are an hour late and are only 3 avenues away from me. i was used to them being an hour late but yesterday i had a friend over and i ordered. after an hour the food had not gotten here and we needed to leave soon so i called. they couldnt find my order so they assumed it had gone out. half an hour later i call back and they still took like 5 minutes figuring out where my food was. they told me it was on it's way. it still took 20 minutes after that for my food to get here. As a native New Yorker born and raised in queens I take my bagels very seriously. I had been looking for a new bagel spot upon moving from Jackson Heights to Astoria and was going to the dreaded chains in the meantime. These are real NY bagels!! Just wanted to add... I ordered a pick-up online, and when I got the food home found that there was a mistake with one of the orders. I called up and they were apologetic, very nice and accommodating. They quickly fixed my order and DELIVERED it to me :) Even left a little note on the receipt saying "Sorry".
