What a difference 2 years makes. I stopped in today for a late sandwich and iced tea. The door still said 7:30 PM but there was a small sign that wasn't noticeable that stated that the place closes at 3 PM. I sat down to eat and was told the place was closing. As I left I went to get more ice tea but it was empty. My sandwich although the meat and cheese were good the bagel was not toasted but rather microwaved. Just what the doctor ordered after a night out! We walked into a fairly empty Bagels 'n Grind and placed our orders at the counter. I opted for an egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel while my husband ordered a chicken sandwich. I asked for a toasted bagel but was told their toaster was only warming things up and not actually toasting them... bummer. They give you a number to place on your table so that they can bring your food out to you. My sandwich was just okay. The bagel wasn't warm, eggs kind of on the cold side, and the cheese wasn't melted. Not the best sandwich but the bagel was decent. I also liked that they were making their bagels with NY water. We live across the street so I want to go here all of the time because they do have really good bagels, but every time it takes about 20 min for a toasted bagel with cream cheese and the bagel is barely toasted. Last time I went in it came out really quickly, but the toaster was broken. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you were in a rush. read more

Good bagels. Terrible service. Repeatedly have ordering issues. This last time I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and lox. Up on the board it lists the cream cheese and says "lox add 3$". We'll apparently that's for lox cream cheese. If you get lox they charge you for a 9.50 bagel sandwich. None of which they tell you about nor does it say on the board. I asked about the price difference and the guy back there was rude. Not super rude. But condescending patronizing rude. Informed me that "salmon is expensive". For the past week my Co-Worker has been talking about how good the California Chicken wrap and BBQ Chicken Salad is at Bagels n Grinds. I decided to give it a try today since I wasn't feeling like eating my canned Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch. Now I've never been to Bagels n Grinds, which is a shock as Bagels n Grinds is a TEKsystems staple.As I was looking at the menu, I decided I was going to try the California Chicken Wrap as my co-worker suggested, but also noticed that Bagels n Grinds has a 'Choose any Two'; half sandwich and a cup of soup or half sandwich and a half salad. Bagels n Grind had Mac and Cheese listed as a Soup; I don't understand either, but hey, whatever floats your boat. I love Mac and Cheese, so i did the 'Choose Any Two' combo with the half California Chicken wrap ( spinach Wrap) and Mac and Cheese. The cashier was really friendly and even convinced me to sign up for their Bagels n Grind Membership. The place was packed as it was lunch time, there weren't many spots left, but the cashiers were getting everyone through the lines quickly. While i was waiting, i got on my phone to get on Facebook, Yelp, and then Instagram. I ran into one of my co-workers and talked to her for a bit. I noticed it had been some time, and i didn't hear my name called for my order yet. I only got the Choose any Combo and a regular California Chicken Wrap for a co-worker. So i didn't understand what was taking so long. I then got on Facebook again, watched a little of the news on the TV they had, and lastly grabbed a menu and looked at that. Still didn't hear my name for my order, nor did I see anyone else (who got food to go) get there food. However, I did notice that there was food constantly going out for those who were dining in. So if you want to be top priority, make sure you dine in, and not get your food to go,as your treated like chop liver if you get your food to go. As I continue to wait, the lady that was before me asked the cashier about her food. The Cashier told her " only 2 more minutes". With that being said, i didn't think i would have that much longer to wait. The lady before me got her food, and eventually the man who order after me got his food. As soon as the guy who ordered after me got his food, i asked the Cashier to check on my food. The Cashier tells me "We ran out of Mac and Cheese, so we're waiting for that". At this point, i realized i had been waiting for almost 15 minutes. I asked the Cashier if i could have something else, or have the Mac and Cheese taken off my bill, and why didn't anyone say something to me instead of just letting me wait forever. The cashier just told me "It will only be one more minute, its almost done." I was irritated at this point as it took so long to get my food. Finally, the Cashier called my name, I grabbed my bag and returned to work with my late lunch. As i started eating my food, I was even more disappointed. The California Wrap was just ok. The wrap needed more sauce, and the chicken was dry. The Mac and Cheese was cream,y but had no flavor whatsoever. My meal was just mediocre, definitely note worth $9, nor do i understand why everyone talks so highly of it. I was going to go back to Bagels n Grinds and give it a second chance as my first experience was not what I expected, but after tasting the food, i don't plan on going back and spending my hard earned money. read more

On a Tuesday morning I go and order 2 garden state bagels which are our favorite. I took them to go and got home and realized they were bagels with just egg and sausage. I called back and let them know they had gotten the order incorrect. I spoke with the guy who rang me up as well as the manager Sonya about what happened. She signed me up for the loyalty points and told me to come back in and receive 2 new complimentary bagels how I like them. I was happy with that! When I came in the next day and asked Sonya about the bagels she helped me with my order, apologized and got my order ready. The guy that gave me the sandwiches also apologized for the mistake. I came here for the first time this morning with my wife. Our meals were fair as we waited a very long time to receive them. At the time I ordered there was 1 person behind me. I noticed that there was plenty of business so I assumed I'd have short wait. What I didn't think was that the additional 5 ordered that proceeded mine would be completed before mine. When the cashier was asked about our order she replied with "wait didn't i......" she clearly gave our order to someone else. Even when we got our meals it was clear that they rushed preparing them because of before mentioned mistake. Half of my bagel had no food on it at all. "Ok" she says, "no problem at all." Now I understand this may not be a normal order, however it's quite uncomplicated. I have gone in twice in the month of March. Both times the customer service has been AWFUL. Both times a man behind the counter (manager?) has been on his cell phone. The first time I went in he ignored me for about 2-3 minutes. I didn't interrupt him perhaps he was on tinder? The second time he actually had his back to the counter and was staring at his phone. When I worked at a restaurant we were not allowed to be on the phone. And working a counter? Apathy much? The second time he was condescending about my groupon. It was expired but the previous time I went in the bagel place was out of bagels (I don't care if people come in with their groupon- be prepared to sell bagels if bagels are in your name). He told me I was supposed to come in within the week to redeem it. I left out a family member being in the hospital, the recent move, the fact that I work 2 jobs (and stay off my cell phone), I live out of the way, and said I'd just redeem it for what I paid but he said no. Thanks for the favor? I really just wanted to look at him and say "You're a bagel shop you should have BAGELS". But no. So now I have a dozen mediocre bagels tinged with the taste of New York customer service? HANG UP THE DAMN PHONE! I won't be returning. read more

Nope sorry definitely not impressed. Let me start by saying I'm from Long Island and we know bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Ok now that my disclaimer is out the way let's review! Pros: Extremely clean! The floors, counters and tables were so clean and that's always a must for me. Also, they have really good customer service. I know a lot of patrons care about being greeted and small talk and so forth. However, as for myself, I could care less about a smile and a phony, forced "hello". Seriously, if your food or product is amazing and holds true to its word then you don't have to say a thing to me. Next, they have a large selection of bagels and mine was soft at 10 am. And that's all the nice things I have to say about the bagel I had. Cons: *Big HUGE sigh* Ok, I ordered and egg bagel with bacon and a fried hard egg. After waiting 15 minutes, I received the following: (see pic below). My food was warmed, not toasted but that's my fault for not specifying. The egg was certainly not fried, instead it was a scrambled blend of egg and chopped bacon. okkkkk, that was absolutely not what I asked for. Really I stood around being nosy for 15 minutes for this!!! I took a bite because of course you should never judge a book by its cover and again I was disappointed. I couldn't figure out why the heck my bagel tasted slightly sweet and had a pungent aroma of onion to it. I hate when bagels take on each other's favors. Yep I'm all for segregated bagels! The egg itself was kind of wet and mushy textured. NY bagel my foot!! I don't fully understand their whole water treatment blah blah blah concept but it certainly doesn't make their bagels taste anything like a NY bagel. Will I be back? Nope! I'm from DC and just happened to eat here by chance when I was traveling, so this review is only based off of one visit and one menu item: It was clean. Service was fine. It was a week-day afternoon, so it was slow and I got my food quickly. Now down to the bagel: I got the Staten NY veggie on a sun-dried tomato bagel. Oh. my. god. Vegetarian sandwiches are difficult to pull off. As a long-time vegetarian, I'm often wary of ordering veggie sandwiches from new places because it's always either amazing or terrible. This bagel sandwich was uh-maaa-zing! This italian-style sandwich was mozarella, basil, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, smothered in mayo-like sauce. Well, I'm working south of Baltimore for a while, and I looked around on yelp for a good place to grab breakfast on a Saturday morning. Not a whole lot popped up, so we headed over to Bagels N Grinds. The first thing that struck me is how inefficiently designed the establishment is. It's awful-- walking in the door herds you unamicably into an isolated line that has nowhere to go but out the door. You walk past the bakery in line, which is a nice touch. However, the display counter for all the bagels is in the way of the line, so when someone is choosing their bagels, they have to contend with walking back through a few people and then feeling like they're causing a holdup just picking out their bagels. Also, instead of a normal menu, they decided to go with the incredibly inefficient option of displaying their fare on a screen. It is harder to read, expensive as balls compared to a chalkboard, and it doesn't even all fit! You have to let it rotate through in order to read everything. The food was super mediocre. My bagel was pretty good, and it better be, cause this is a bagel shop, but I wasn't wowed. I got a bagel with eggs, lox, and onion. The eggs were unnecessarily thick and were kinda spongy and flavorless. The onion was just raw, diced onion. Not what I'm looking for on a bagel, guys. And the smoked samon was suuuuper salty and not very tasty. My chai tea was pretty good, and not exorbitantly priced. Not awful in a pinch, but I'm not gonna go back anytime soon. read more

The bagels are really good, they are done the way they should be. I don't know if it really depends on the water filtration system, but whatever it is, it works. I love the set up and the decor of the restaurant. The line forms along the bagel production line and one can see how they make them while waiting for the order. What a great idea! The colors used for the floors, tables, and walls are in harmony with each other. That restaurant is just pleasant to be in. I will be here again! read more

The new Bagel and Grinds in Hanover is just what the new neighborhood needs. My coworker and I stopped by yesterday to see what they had to offer after lunch, turns out they serve lunch as well, note for next time. We were greeted by the general manager as we looked into the glass bagel display case and given a full tour of the bagel selection. I was curious if the restaurant would be hosting seasonal flavors in addition to the standard bagels, the GM quickly grabbed the executive chef and we were told that is a good possibility for the future. I made sure to mention the idea of Pumpkin and apple for the fall! I loved the atmosphere which is conducive to reading a paper or chatting with friends. It felt like a high end coffee and bagel place without the stuffiness! The large leather chairs are just the spot to enjoy a quick snack or relax with a coffee. I cannot wait to go back and sit in the chairs next time. While the menu is extensive my friend and I settled on trying some bagels (after all it is a bagel place). I tried the cinnamon and raisin and just loved it. The bagel had the perfect amount of chewiness one should expect from a New York style bagel. The cream cheese was very good as well and they have a nice selection. I am giving this place 4 stars but know the 5th star is around the corner once I try more of the menu. I can't wait to try the breakfast sandwiches and lunch. I recommend this place to regulars and travelers alike! read more

Been there several times. They have great coffee. The used to bake muffins every morning. Recently I've noticed that the muffins are only made 2 or 3 times a week. If you catch them on the wrong day the muffin taste like rubber. I enjoy the coffee so much I was willing to take my chance on the muffin. Then last week they raised prices. I'm officially done with them. Too expensive $6.00 for coffee and a muffin + a strong chance the muffin isn't fresh. read more

It seems like there are always a good number of people working here though, so I'm not sure why every single time I've come they seem to be taking it easy and I seem to be waiting. ... A really long time... for them to stop taking it easy... & give me my order :/ While the staff is friendly, perhaps this is also a hindrance since some staff could likely be assisting in service if they weren't chatting it up with each other & sitting down at tables chatting with patrons. Bagels and grinds made me want to gauge my eyes out. I got their jalapeño cheddar bagel and I tasted more cheddar than bagel. There was a mound of cheese on the bottom. Their bagels were not good. How hard can it be to make a bagel it's a piece of dough!!!! I also got their veggie cream cheese and there was no taste to it!!! It was so bland! I also got their iced latte and they put way too much milk and ruined it. Gingerbread flavor was also so bad. This place serves up the best muffin I have EVER eaten! After seeing mediocre reviews of the bagels I went for a chocolate chip muffin instead. It was still warm from the oven and the chocolate offered bite after bite of melty goodness! The top was large and crispy and with a little melted butter it made the perfect cure for my post-Merriweather hangover! The iced coffee was good too and the sweetener/creamer station made for quick and easy access. Service was fast and friendly despite a full house - no complaints! read more

Finally a local bagel store that makes their own bagels in house. I have been here for both breakfast and lunch. The bagels for breakfast are fresh and warm and go great with their selection of coffee. For lunch, their soup line is great. I have tried the Shrimp 'n Roast Corn Chowder, Rip Roaring Crab 'n Corn and Chicken and Poblano Pepper. I can't wait to go back and try the others. read more

Hard to find parking. Order is fast but wait for food is EXTREMELY long. They have plenty of people working but they just stand around to chit chat.
