Yummy! I'm always in search for a good New York style bagel place and I've finally found a good one in the Baltimore area! They even have a window to watch the bagels being made!!! How awesome is that! Unfortunately I got there around mid day and missed the morning bagels being made, but did see someone there when I was leaving. The staff and service is really good and the prices are fair (especially since the bagels are so fresh). The eating area is very clean and tidy. There are also televisions to watch local sports or news while you eat. If you eat in, immediately after you walk in there is a cash register and a Friendly cashier takes your order and gives you a number. Then you sit and hang out until they bring you your food. The food is all really tasty and the coffee decent. The specialty coffee and tea drinks were a little pricey though, in my opinion and that's why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5. read more

maybe they had a bad morning based on other reviews but arriving on a sunday morning at 8:15am they had no everything bagels, no plain,garlic,egg and the bagels that they did have were thin and underdone. i was in a rush traveling through on my way to nj otherwise i would have simply walked out without ordering. while eating in the car my third bite of my sandwich i had to spit out, salt was poured on so heavily it was DISGUSTING. My husbands sesame and butter bagel was raw in the middle also met the trash. i really hate to bash restaurants but thus was horrible Update: the owner reached out to me with both an apology and an explanation of what went wrong this morning. I've only been to this place once. Today! I started to order a sandwhich but the cashier as I hoped was not very social able or helpful. Never been to bagel grind and I asked for a sandwhich she said what bagel I was like I get to pick? And then I said thats too much and she gave me that "umm it's just picking a bagel look". I went with blueberry and cream cheese. Took 10 minutes to get it and it's toasted so hard...ugh the bagel itself it's not very good. The burnt end take over the whole thing. Here we are at one of few bagel places I will visit. The bagels are good, but I think bagels that I can find today are still short of those made by the Kosher bagel maker near where we lived 35 years ago in Atlanta. Those were the appropriate size, and all the same size, and had the right chewy resistance on the crust and just a bit tough interior. Anyway, B&G comes very close. The coffee is very good as well, and good coffee is hard to find (I do not like Starbucks regular black coffee, I always order latte there). This coffee is quite drinkable. They have added additional pastry/baked goods to their baked line up, but we purposely came for a breakfast bagel. They looked good, though. I had an egg, ham, and bacon with cheese (long way from Kosher, that is for sure). Enjoyed it completely. I really like the water. We have reverse osmosis at home, but do not have the remineralization that you find here. I think this helps the coffee and the bagels. Like everything else where I live, this place requires a twenty minute drive. Maybe they will develop drone home delivery? Eat well, tip well. read more

For breakfast it's just your average tough-doughy bagel stuffed with your choice of normal lackluster cheese and meat. Not the best bagel I've had, but certainly not the worst. I think I was a bit disappointed though because I thought the really nice location would reflect the quality of food, but this was not the case. I did appreciate the large portion sizes and friendly service. I want to address the whole "replicating NY water to make the bagels taste like NY bagels" thing they're advertising. There's no scientific proof or evidence that indicates that the type of water is what contributes to the taste of the dough. In fact, a recent study done by an independent researcher concluded that types of tap water has virtually no effects regarding taste of food--test subjects could not tell the difference between food with different types of water. It's a myth likely perpetuated by those who are also likely to be susceptible to the placebo effect. A clever way to market their brand though. The coffee they serve is local to the Chesapeake Bay region and it's one of my favorites--it was the best part of my breakfast. read more

This restaurant is well laid out and lighted, and it's squeaky clean. You may order breakfast throughout the day. There is a fireplace with comfortable stuffed chairs in the corner. The service could use a bit of improvement. I asked the cashier if breakfast could be ordered for lunch and was pointed to the paper menu in front of her rather than handing it to me. My co worker asked the difference in salad size and the other cashier appeared annoyed and without a word went to the back and brought out the containers. The egg and sausage with bacon on a bagel was ok. The bagel was double toasted as requested. My co worker was good with the salad but said the soup wasn't great. Went with my roommates for bagels and definitely exceeded all expectations. As soon as we walked in we were awed by the option to watch staff make the bagels (think Krispy Kreme...but with bagels) (also sorry no free hot and fresh bagels). Manhattan club with a pickle was the perfect sandwich for lunch, bagel with cream cheese, cheese, and onions was pleasantly filled with large slices of fresh mozzarella, flagel (flat bagel) with veggies was awesome. The bagel was thin but wider than a regular bagel to make up for lack of extra dough. And even just a everything bagel with veggie cream cheese was all quality. They put a lot of cream cheese if you're into that, but maybe too much if you don't want as much. Wait staff was awesome and checked in to make sure everything was tasting good. I decided one Saturday morning to wake up early specifically to head here to try a coffee drink and a bagel sandwich.. Im glad i did! I tried a cafe mocha (next time i'll go for plain coffee) and a bagel sandwich and everything was delicious! Whether you are staying at "The Hotel" across the parking lot or live in the area, this place is a great alternative to the big coffee chain locations nearby. If you get coffee regularly, you should sign up for their rewards card. They have a decent selection of muffins and bagels. The breakfast sandwiches are great too but the eggs taste a little "canned". My favorite things here are the big leather chairs near the fireplace, and the long coffee bar that let's you make your coffee the exact way you like it. I had to gas my car while in the area heading to Baltimore for a meeting so I decided to stop by and grab a bagel for breakfast before I continue my drive. I walked in and the place was empty with 2 patrons eating and another waiting for their order. I placed my order for just ONE plain bagel and then sat and waited... and waited... and waited. Finally after 12 minutes they bring my bagel out to me. I was already annoyed because I was on a time limit and, really, how long does it take to cut and toast a plain bagel? Heck, they didn't even put the cream cheese on it so I shaved off another 30 seconds for them. Well to make matters worse, the bagel was cold with a hint of warmth at the bottom of the bagel. If I wanted a cold bagel I could have just grabbed the one I threw in my fridge the other day. Well this was just disappointing. I wanted to return it but I did not want to wait another 10+ minutes for a new bagel so I reluctantly ate a cold bagel and mumbled mild obscenities through the whole thing. So, yes, this place does deserve one star at best because it looked clean. However, everything else really doesn't warrant another visit or recommendation. read more

Saturday Morning visit. Nice, clean, friendly staff. However... my daughter and I only orderED 2 toasted bagels with cream cheese ( 2 premade fresh oj's), and it took WELL over 25 minutes for our food to come out. It turns out that they ran out of plain bagels ( im not sure how, there were at least 6 in the bin when we ordered ) anywho.. no one filled us in on this issue. So after 25+ minutes and14.00 for 2 bagels W/cream cheese and orange juices. The bagels come with SOOOOOOOOO much unnecessary cream cheese, see pic below. I love a good bagel in the morning. Moving to Towson four years ago, I fell in love with Towson hot bagels and moving back home I fell in love with Uber bagels in Severna Park. Checked out Bagels 'n Grinds the other day as a recommendation from a friend. She swears by this place. I personally didn't find anything really wow-ing about this place. The service was spectacular and very attentive. Food was subpar. I ordered for friends and took it to go. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on poppy for myself. A sausage egg and cheese on sesame for a friend. As well as a bacon egg and cheese on plain and a sausage egg and cheese on plain. I found it very interesting that the meats were cooked into the egg, I personally didn't like that (personal preference). But I also didn't really find them to be that special. Willing to give it another try and try something else since when I came in on Labor Day, it was packed. So clearly a lot of other people really enjoy this spot. read more

Ive been here a few times and actually choose it over Baltimore Tea & Coffee (odenton). That said, I come here for the food and don't drink coffee. They have a selection of about 12 different bagels at any given time, and a special of the day. Then, they can make your bagel a sandwich. With a respectable amount of real sandwich meat, vegetable and filler options. (Of course they have the regular cream cheese/butter options as well). They have a 'water purification plant' to supposedly make it like NY water to get the bagels perfect. It's gimmicky and slightly insulting. But that said, The bagels are good. They are nice North East coast style bagels. Chewy on the outside and soft on the inside. Additionally, they offer a selection of hearty salads and a few options of fresh fruit salad, yogurt parfait and lemonade fruit juices, fresh (real) cookies and sconces. B&G has about 5 selections of coffee at any given time (and it looks like free refills - you fill your cup yourself). They also have several dairy/creamer options and fill your own fountain drinks. The only thing they could do to make it better is add fresh smoothies to the menu. Compared to BaltTea, they don't have a retail portion as BaltTea does and they have fewer selections for coffee. But, B&G is good at the basics: good food and a good cup of coffee. Where BaltTea is about making 'special' coffees. And you aren't getting a meal at BaltTea. Love the convenience of this spot, as it's right across the street from my apartment and I think the only bagel place in the immediate Arundel area. It's in a newer shopping center that houses Rangoli, Grill Fire, a hotel, and two apartment complexes. Immediate parking can be limited as the ones right out front have a 30 minute limit, around the corner I believe is 2 hours, and then you have a huge multi-level garage that has plenty of parking. On this particular occasion we came on Memorial day around 10am for breakfast. The place was packed with families what looked liked a volleyball team. The line wasn't too long, we enjoyed watching the machine molding the dough into the bagel shape - so that kept our attention for a bit. Unfortunately they ran out of everything bagels in both white and wheat so I tried out the egg bagel (it was surprisingly good, I've never had one before and was pleasantly surprised!) I got the Boston on it, which is regular cream cheese, lox, onion, tomatoes, and added capers for a small cost. I actually split it with my friend which was actually a good portion size. My other friend got the blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese. You order your food and drink, and they'll give you a number and bring out your food and any specialty drinks. There is a fountain bar and of course coffee bar as well that is self-serve. The seating was a little tricky since it was a busy time, at this location there are high tops, regular tables, couches, and even a small sectioned off area meant for larger groups. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the Boston if you're into salmon. The quality of the bagels are great, they're fresh and with the right away of chewiness. I was craving good bagels, not just from the grocery store bakery. This location was 13 minutes away according to the GPS, so I figured why not. It was a Monday morning around 7:30. I thought it would be really busy for the morning commute, but it wasn't, just one customer ahead of me, and I guess because of COVID, everyone's just working from home. I've never been there before, so it was a little confusing when I walked in, I wasn't sure how to get in line. Follow the signs hanging from the ceiling, and they'll take you around a divider to the side of the dining room where you can view bagels being made through plexi-glass! Very cool! My cashier was friendly and I ordered the popular Brooklyn sandwich and bagels to go for later that day and breakfast the next morning. The sandwich was delicious, it hit the spot, and I've been craving a bagel with lox. As for the other bagels, they were ok. They were way better than the grocery store, but they were kind of tough. I always look forward to this place when I visit my daughter. It is usually one of my first stops, and always my last, for something to eat on the plane. However Thursday's visit will be my last. After inserting my card I was directed to the computer screen and informed that I needed to make a selection to complete the transaction. The choices were to give a 10, 15, or 20 percent tip...or none. Do I want to bribe a cashier for service, or to not adulterate my food? Next, will I be required to tip the cashier at Costco? I am a generous tipper (20 - 25 percent) and have always left something for the server AFTER the rendered service. I find this trick insulting. Here's my take on Bagels 'n Grinds, amidst COVID - easy. Ordering was easy. Everything was ready at the time of pick-up. Nothing was missing from my order (BnGs gets bonus points for this). Bagels were fresh, chewy and so darn big. Seriously, a half is enough to satisfy one's appetite. So much chive shmear on my lox bagel and loads of capers, just the way I like it! The cashier shows you a screen on the register so you can tip. It's not a percentage but dollars. My $5.77 bill showed $2, $4 and $5 choices plus other. I didn't realize other and overtipped. I went during lunch and tried their Staten Island Veggie sandwich (which is served on a bagel of your choice; i got plain). Lately, I've been trying to increase my intake of veggies and decrease my intake of meat. This sandwich doesn't make me regret my decision! It was SO delicious! And filling! I was deciding between this one and the Fifth Avenue Veggie Wrap, and the cashier said of the two, to go for Staten Island. While I can't compare the two (yet), his recommendation was spot on. The estimated delivery time was 35 minutes, it took an hour and a half for them to finish the order of 2 bagel sandwiches, a hot sandwich, and a salad, not including any delivery time. The freshest bagels you'll ever find! 95% of our visits (and there have been hundreds!!) are fantastic. Normally a 5+. Occasionally during mid-day, the staff isn't quite so careful and you may get a Chicken Salad BLT without any "B". (???) . But we did tell them and they made it right. Ordered four bagels -- everything whole wheat, cinnamon raisin, pumpernickel, and egg -- with plain cream cheese. I'm sure these bagels would make any native New Yorker happy; they have the classic water-boiled crust on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The color of the bagels were vibrant! The whole wheat everything was entirely covered on the outside, which I loved. The pumpernickel had a bright taste. The egg tasted like Italian pasta. The place is cozy and has at least three televisions that also have defined seating spaces. Around one tv are leather chairs. There's a television in the main area, and one in an area with a table for 6- 8 people. In the drinks section, there are machines for your milk and sugar so you do not have to rip open little packets and pour their contents into your coffee cup, and I thought the guy who did come by and clean was attentive. That's it for the good. Now for the bad and ugly. First, as my boyfriend and I approached the counter to place our orders, there were at least 4 or 5 people standing behind it. One guy looked up at us and ignored us by walking away. Two people, one of whom we determined was the manager, kept talking to one another and did not acknowledge us. Another person was cleaning and didn't look at us, and I think another person just turned her back toward us. Finally, when we were acknowledged, a guy behind us in line yells, "I placed an order for pickup". The girl behind the counter gets his stuff and helps him first even though by that time we had been waiting for three minutes and were at the front of the line. MInd you, there were two families in the restaurant, and both had placed their orders and were seated. She places our order but asks twice to check. Then her manager had to come over to our table and tell us his produce guy didn't come in and so my boyfriend's order for a salad had to be made with other greens. Not a problem except the way he approached us made us both comment he looked like he was coming over to ask us for money. Food wise, it was fine, nothing special. I had an everything bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese. The cheese was goopy. Yuck. Boyfriend seemed to like his salad fine, no special comments. I don't know how long this place has been around but I wouldn't be surprised if they closed soon. Reading these reviews and having my experience, I wouldn't recommend coming here. read more

Bagels with butter and jam came with no butter , 2 sandwiches were good they were simple everything with only egg, hard to ruin. The final sandwich was bacon, egg and cheese.
