After a rough week, I was craving some comfort food -- hot soup. Found this place on yelp, so we stopped here for lunch. It was later than usual and they're only open for breakfast and lunch. By the time we got there, they still had an hour left to be open, but had run out of a few things (like their meat sandwiches). That was okay. I started off with a cup of matzoh ball soup. It came in a small bowl with some noodles. The broth was a little watery and in need of salt. But the "ball" was huge. It wasn't bad (I did get a kick out of the guy sitting at the counter who asked what matzoh balls were made of; the waitress couldn't answer him. So I did). After that I had a rye bagel lightly toasted with nova salmon spread. This was good. The portion of cream cheese was large enough to take half home. And I liked the rye bagel enough to get a couple of them to go... My husband had their sliced lox (the salty one) platter. It came with his choice of cream cheese (he had plain), a slice of tomato,and on request, onion and olives. The marinated olives had pits, but were good. A nice size portion of lox. He, too, took some leftovers home. We also bought a piece of crumb cake to go (they were out of babka) . Unfortunately this was so dry and tasteless that we threw it out later. This neighborhood restaurant has its local fans. It's more diner than deli by decor. They were following all protocols but one thing wasn't quite right. They had closed off the small dining room with some tables so everyone waiting for a table and people leaving all had to pass through a narrow area -- too closely -- to get in or out. Bagelworks, more like BagelJerks. I went in to buy a bagel. There were a few people in front of me. Behind the counter was chaos. One conter guy finished an order of someone who was obviously his friend, he spent time talking to him and slapping him five while we waited. No big deal. But then al three people there to take orders had their backs turned to us and paid us no attention. Then the phone rang and one guy came to answer it. He was an older employee with tattoos all over his arms.He is taking a long time to take the order and it's getting frustrating. We were waiting (me and a decorated Korean War hero in front of me) and he couldn't take our order, but the phone rang and he dropped everything like we were invisible. Note: We were not invisible. After he was taking that order for a few minutes, the other genteman and I were getting increasingly frustrated. I finally said "This is rdiculous." The guy on the phone BARKED at me. We are busy. We got a big Uber order. I said. We were here before the phone rang but you had no problem taking that order. We were here first and are human beings right in front of you. He BARKS again, who are you Uber? I said, No, I'm Keith. I am a customer and you shouldn't talk to me that way. He grumbled at me some more, got back on the phone and I walked out. I think their bagels are great. A little crisp on the outside when you get them fresh. I would recommend picking up bagels before noon because after 1:30 they loose the crispness. read more

I don't have any photos of this visit because I had company from out of town, and I was more interested in spending time with one of my best friends from my high school era We arrived approximately 15 minutes after they opened, and the place had a few people in it; people were steadily coming in throughout our entire time there to a point where it was packed when we left, that was about an hour later. Let's start with the place and its cleanliness. There wasn't one speck of dirt that one saw, and the restaurant was virtually spotless; it was nice to see everybody smiling, and our waitress was absolutely amazing; the service was excellent and guess what? they are short-staffed as well Today's order was two scrambled eggs and a plain bagel with cream cheese and nova. The bagel was perfect, but I've also had better here, the nova was excellent as well, the eggs? You really can't mess eggs up lol. for a beverage. I had coffee which is rare, but the coffee was terrific. My friend that I was with echoes the same thing I said and we both enjoyed our meals there. Now I will add an observation about Florida bagels and New York bagels that everybody talks about. I had bagels delivered from the very popular place in New York and had them overnight to me down here in Florida. Both sets of bagels were one day old, both sets of bagels were plain, and I toasted one of each, and the other one did not get toasted. I have always loved Bagel Works and have driven out of my way to eat there. Yesterday was the last time. I bought a 1/4 pound of Lox and it was $16. That price is insane. $64 a pound. I live in east Boca and my local bagel place has it for $48 a pound. The one star is for the nice guy that helped me at the counter. read more

I'm staying at the hotel across the street while caring for my Dad who is in the hospital. Called at 135 to place a 2 go order for 1 Turkey sandwich. Management wouldn't take my order. Worst customer service. I know that my little review won't make a difference to people still going there, but obviously management doesn't actually give a sh*t about customer service. So my family and I will definitely make sure we never go here again. Management should get some training in customer service. It would have taken me 2 minutes to come in. They have the very BEST tuna salad. I dropped by for lunch after the synagogue. I appreciate the quick takeout service. The gentleman helping me was very personable and professional, getting my order done at record speed. They have super yummy macaroni salad and babka, too. So there a many choices for a deli in the area. This is the one my mom likes. This one is okay good. The sliced turkey sandwich was the best deli turkey. Thick cut, not salty or process tasting. And whoever raves about deli turkey, it was that good. The absolute best NY style bagel establishment in the Boca, Boynton, Delray area! Do not waste your time with other places. It does get busy, but in my mind that's a good thing. Our most recent visit the table next to ours got the food they ordered but seemed to change their mind and the waitress was very accommodating to get them something else, and it was done with kindness and professionalism. There are regular places that in the past 7 months, I have stopped going to because of COVID hysteria. Bagelworks was the first place in mind when we finally ALMOST broke down and we were ready to dine-in. Unknown until today, Bagelworks had curbside pickup and we ending up eating at home in delight. My friend got nova, capers, tomato and onions on a bagel and I got the Ruben sandwich on rye bread. We placed our order over the phone and it was delivered to our car in the curbside pickup spot. I have been coming here for years. They have the best tuna fish. Bagels are great with the usuals... nova, whitefish salad, etc. They have wonderful soups (lentil and split pea are my favorites). Service is always friendly. Just note they do not seat you unless your complete party is inside the restaurant. Lots of people say " oh my friend is parking the car...."( and 15 minutes later their friend comes in). They aren't falling for it. Place is packed during lunch particularly during Season. Bagelworks is quite an excellent restaurant! However, there were a couple of flies buzzing around because the back door was left open. It probably influenced me to give it 4 stars instead of 5. Even so, the meal was very enjoyable. The Matzo Ball Soup was very tasty. My Corned Beef Hash, Scrambled Eggs and Home Fries were scrumptious. It was all under-salted which probably is a good policy because so many people are on a low sodium diet and the rest of us can add spices to our hearts content. The Onion Bagel was wonderful. The menus were new and clean and had many great sounding items. Bagelworks was very busy, but the staff kept up nicely and didn't neglect me for a moment. My server, Ali G, was excellent. I ordered catering for my birthday, confirmed that same day. The delivery was supposed to be around 2 pm. When they hadn't arrived nor called nor answered the phone when I called like 20 times I postponed my guests. I couldn't pick up my son from school on time waiting for the delivery. I asked my husband to get something else when At 4:40 I finally got a call from an employee who said if I still want it. She commented that she herself was unaware of this order. We tried reaching out to the manager who said he would call back - a week later we're still waiting. Living in West Lake Worth, l was unfamiliar with any restaurants off Glades Rd west of the turnpike. I was told l could get a bowl of soup at BAGELWORKS. All tables were full, so l sat at the counter. I ordered split pea soup and 1/2 pastrami sandwich. The soup was not salty and had a nice consistency. The Carnegie meat pastrami sandwich was overstuffed and tasted excellent. I hadn't had a good pastrami sandwich in years. It is not that l haven't tried. The staff were all very efficient and professional. Joyce greeted me with a pleasant smile at the door and walked me to the counter. She has worked there 17 years Allie was my server. We went to Bagelworks today in Boca , we ordered a poppy bagel, toasted, scooped out with cream cheese, lox, tomato and onion. Also a poppy bagel, toasted and scoop with egg cheese and bacon. Neither bagel was toasted, neither bagel was scooped out, there was no cheese on the egg bagel, and there was no onion on the lox bagel . We asked the person who took our order multiple times if the bagels were toasted and scooped and he said yes clearly you do not pay attention to your customers wants or needs. My wife and I came on a Sunday at 2 pm hoping to order a platter for 30 people. "The Boss" told one of his employees that we should come back tomorrow. We explained that we work on Monday but they didn't seem to care. We have been coming here regularly for 15 years and will now be taking our business elsewhere.
