Went here on our vacation and absolutely loved it. You order from the counter, then sit, and they deliver your food. I had the French toast with berries and it was Devine. Worth breaking your diet! What ever you do make sure and order an almond chocolate Croissant, it is so delicious and decadent. I ordered the smoked salmon with Dill cream on a croissant, it was very rich almost too rich, I thought the extra olive oil or whatever they drizzled was a little extra and not necessary. The salmon to me was not smoked enough it was a little less smokey and salty than what I am used to with smoked salmon but it was still good. We also ordered the tuna layered salad on a soft baguette and although dry at first it got better and better with time. Definitely worth a try. read more

Great place for carb lovers! I have driven by Baguette Magic for the last couple of years and every time I've passed it I've wanted to stop. I finally made my own dreams come true by stopping for an early lunch last Sunday. The boulangerie offers yummy croissant and baquette sandwiches. I had an avocado and pimento cheese baguette and my husband had the warm croissant ham & munster with brown mustard. We shared a chocolate croissant for dessert. The five pounds we each put on were well worth it! The baguette was warm and soft, yet crunchy on the outside. The chocolate croissant was one of the best I've had. The inside of the restaurant is a bit small, so I would recommend getting your sandwich to go during their busier hours. There is a nice 5-seat bar where you can watch the Magicians make your masterpiece and you can get a French press while you wait for your breakfast or lunch. read more

Nothing beats soft on the inside, crunchy but not too crunchy on the outside, perfectly crafted freshly baked bread with butter. Lots of butter. I found it by accident when I missed the turn for a grocery store. I ordered an egg and cheese baguette and a coffee to go. That was yesterday. I'm going back again this morning. Had a breakfast sandwich and was underwhelmed. 4 stars based on the complete experience. Staff is very welcoming and the place is spotless. The kitchen is wide open so you can see for yourself. Unlike most other reviewers, I had an egg sandwich on baguette, not a pastry. I ordered the egg with bacon, potato and cheddar and that's exactly what I got. Nothing more. Not even a sprig of parsley. I don't think there was even a bit of seasoning. For the $8 I spent I expected more. The pricing is more in line with what I would expect to pay in downtown Charleston, not a row store on James island. Overall I give it 4 stars. I think it would be a nice place to take a client or my wife. Not really suited as a breakfast spot for the working man. read more

The guy with the beard (guessing he is the cook) and the blonde girl cashier.... they are clueless and extremely slow. Also the man with the beard kept slurring his words as he was taking my order.... just saying. If I knew them both by name, I would call them out. I ordered a to-go smoked salmon baguette, and my friend and I were the only ones in the store. This order should not have taken more than 10 minutes. As I sat waiting, another customer came in and ordered, his food came out well before mine did and I had already been waiting more than 15 minutes at this point. Turns out my food was sitting behind the counter for what I assume was more than 20 minutes and I was never told that my order was ready. I also ordered an almond croissant, thinking they would have set one aside for me. As I waited for my food, a couple came in and bought all the remaining almond croissants, you guessed it... THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE COMMON SENSE TO SET ONE ASIDE. I really hope the owner sees the recent reviews of this establishment. It's sad that your employees are ruining the restaurant. read more

We were on vacation in the area and drove by Baguette Magic, I looked up the reviews and knew we needed to stop in while we were there! I picked up a baguette breakfast sandwich and one of each of their croissants for us to share, and they were AMAZING. I am a graduate of pastry school and big fan of croissants in general, these were the best I've had since visiting France. Our waitress came over with an I-pad and said: "can I cash you guys out?" I gave my card and she complete the payment making me sign on the screen but without showing anything. Just saw the total and the options related to the tips amount... So i asked for a receipt and she said: do you want in paper or by email? And i said: paper... This bakery is so great! I went here every morning for breakfast on my trip. The owner herself is really nice as well and by the third day had gotten to know my order :) The first time around one of my sandwich's came with vinegar, which I'm allergic to, so I went back inside to get a new one made. I was prepared to pay for it because I hadn't mentioned my allergy, but the owner very kindly made me a new one free of charge. I thought that that was very nice. The ingredients are all really fresh and the pastries definitely taste like they are made from scratch. Highly recommend a visit (or two or three) here. read more
