Wow just wow! We ordered a few different things to all split and it was all amazing! The tomato pie is just as good as everyone hypes it up to be! Went to baguette Magic this morning and found out that it has changed hands. It was a little sad. Although the breads were as good as they've ever been many of the other items we ordered were just not the same and not as good. Salad has been replaced with a mixed green versus arugula with a different salad dressing. Fruit salad has always been amazing andNow is just very average. Potatoes weren't crispy and had an odd spice. You can no longer get strawberry jam just an apple compote with too much nutmeg. Omelettes were not as good either. I'm hopeful that things will improve and I'll continue to go back and try to find new favorites. They were out of brioche bread this morning so no French toast hopefully they didn't change that recipe. read more

BEST B FAST EVER. Definitely best thing on James Island. Not even a big breakfast person but this place is the best.

My wife ate here, then ordered seconds. The end. Well. For context, she weighs about 90lbs and eats salads almost exclusively. Just about the best EVERYTHING that has to do with breakfast and lunch you can get in town. Their hours are a little weird so you needs to hit them up early in the day but if you've never had the bread from baguette magic you are missing out totally!!! They are doing a ton of stuff for the virus so are still open and churning out the good stuff. Support local restaurants that don't serve dinner like this. read more

They have expanded the building from my first review and have over 10 tables. They now have a waitress for those who are eating in. Counter order is still available for takeout. The croissants are always a must! I love the almond ones. We were in for breakfast today and my husband got the recovery breakfast sandwich. I have been meaning to get the french toast for a while and finally got to indulge. The whole version is 3 peices of bread and the half version is 1 thick piece. I got the half with berries. The bread was soft and could be cut with a fork with a little crunch on the crust. The sauce coming from the berries was enough for me and I didnt even need the syrup they brought. They also have a pecan nutella version as well. Self serve coffee and water is available. We also enjoy their sandwiches for lunch. All the bread is made in house. They have a deal on Tuesdays, 2 for $11 I believe. Worth a visit! read more

Tasty but terrible and rude customer service! I ordered a sandwich to go which had bacon on it but I don't eat meat. I requested a little avocado instead and the man running the register said he could charge me for it. When I pointed out that I omitted an expensive item from the sandwich which I felt warranted substituting for the avocado he was very condescending and again said he could charge me for it. Overall bad vibes. Ruined my first experience there which will also be my last. read more

Amazing homemade French pastries!! You have to try the tomato pie, it's seriously the best pastry I've ever had. I don't know what they do to those tomatoes but it's seriously magic! Today I had the tomato pie which was delish but not what I would call tomato pie. But whatever it is, I would get it again! They are also really nice and friendly! Never disappointed when I come here. Good food, always love the Chefs Hash. Only down side is that they are not open Monday and Tuesday hence the 4 stars and not 5. Baguette Magic is...magic. I've been coming to Folly for years, passing by this place without a thought. But this year we stopped by, and I was happy we did! We tried the chocolate croissants on our first visit, and on our way out the next day, we stopped by again to get some more and a baguette. So good! I love making breakfast in the morning so I went to pickup some croissants to make some egg sandwiches and I was tempted! I ended up walking out with 5 plain croissants and a chocolate one, and a berry one and a peach one... It was all really amazing. Everything is fresh daily and they have the best flaky crusts. Baguette Magic....I'm craving a Raspberry croissant as I type this review. My bf is crazy about the coffee here so we stopped here to grab a quick cup of Joe to get our buzz on. We walked in and was greeted by the owner....the place was empty and the owner advised us that they closed 1 hour ago. However, he was very kind and nice enough to brew us some coffee and sell us some raspberry and almond croissants. Since the place was empty and they were prepping for the next business day, we had the opportunity to chat with the employees and watch him make those heavenly croissants. If you've ever been to France than you know what a well made, fresh baguette tastes like. This place is like a little slice of France just sitting on James Island. For $2.99 you get your choice of crusty or soft and I'll bet you can't make it to your car before sniffing the bag 4 times...it smells that good. The ambiance here leaves a lot to be desired but one cannot really complain about the croissants or baguettes. Whoever runs Baguette Magic (I am assuming it was the French woman at the counter when we went) has somewhat acquiesced to American tastes by offering things such as croissant sandwiches and full American type breakfasts but that aside, the baguette and the other pastries we tried were actually quite authentic. I got something I'd never had/heard of before in France: A berry croissant and I must say it was amazing. Plus, it's nice to have something even semi-authentic near the beach. This is, hands down, one of the best authentic local places to grab a quick bite and experience at! The owner, a lovely French man, is extremely patient and loves to talk to you about his food. Even when the place is busy, as it often is, he'll crack a joke and a smile. Also, you won't end up waiting more than 15 minutes for your food if it's busy! I have trouble going out of the box menu-wise, because I love what I get: a croissantwich with prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato, and basil pesto. If it's early morning and I'm hungry, I'll throw an egg on there! To quench my hunger immediately I'll get one or two croissants while waiting for my food - the apple cinnamon and fresh berry croissants are the best! I highly suggest checking this place out. There isn't a lot of room to sit, so it's a good stop-in for a quick bite kind of place, or grab a croissant to go! read more

If I had stopped at the berry pastry this would have been a 3 star review. I found it small for the price and a bit underwhelming. Lucky for me I also went for the almond chocolate version. It was much better. Still I probably won't be wishing for another of either one when I think back on this trip. I think if they had offered to warm them it could have improved the taste considerably. A little hidden gem on James Island. It appears unassuming on the outside, as it sits in a strip mall, however, once you enter, your mind is blown. Their buttery croissants are to die for and french toast is borderline inappropriate (in a good way). Well, when I first arrived, I checked both entrances as my friend is confined to a wheelchair. Both entrances were difficult for him to maneuver. Once inside, it was bright, open and easy to move around. One of friends had a baguette with egg and cheddar.. said it was fine, dry, not much filling for the price, nothing special. Her husband had a breakfast baguette also and said it was also just fine, nothing that he couldn't have made at home and a coffee(very good, free refills). Their price for two sandwiches and a coffee were $17. I had 2 eggs, fruit snd a mini-croissant (which was delicious)cost around $12 before tip. The service top notch at the register, however, the young man who was cooking food today is an absolute jerk. He made it a point to tell the front/register woman that my order was not correct because of her misspellings. He didn't even offer to remedy the order. I said something about it and he ignored me. The young lady helping him prep defended him. The front counter woman couldn't have been more gracious. Not cool. My coworker and I stumbled onto Baguette Magic on accident while wandering around James Island for lunch, and it was definitely a stroke of luck on our part. If you're in the mood for some freshly baked bread or baked goods, Baguette Magic is definitely worth a visit! For $12, Baguette Magic has an incredible lunch special... a full sandwich plus a side/drink. To be honest, the sandwich itself is more than enough, but when I'm in the mood for dessert, I'll grab a nutella croissant for the side and save it for later. Trust me, it's worth it. The best bakery/breakfast/brunch place on James Island! The sandwiches aren't huge (apparently the French really are less accustomed to stuffing their faces than us) but everything, including the bread, is made fresh! And for a French place, they make surprisingly good cheesy grits! It's a very small space (like 4 tables and a counter with stools) (although they randomly have entrances on both sides of the store!), order-at-the-counter. I've noticed this place many times when I visit my mom on James Island, but have never been able to catch them open. Today I finally got lucky! Due to the COVID Issue, they have smartly set up a tent and counter outside to facilitate take-away orders. I just wanted a ham & cheese croissant for lunch, which wasn't specifically on the menu, but they were very accommodating and made it for me. It was DELICIOUS! The croissant was fresh and flaky, and the ham was full of flavor. I will definitely try a again, maybe earlier in the day for a chocolate or almond croissant. Those are my favorites read more

I am SO late in posting this review (like over a year late), but I have to give this place an awesome review. I'm so glad we stopped in here during our stay. The inside is fairly small, not a lot of seating area but there is bar seating at the counter which opens up to the kitchen and ovens. Also, since it's a bakery, it's pretty warm inside, and can feel pretty hot especially in warmer weather. But, all that said, we ate here twice within a couple days because we loved it so much. My mom and I got the breakfast croissants, which were just so delicious, and probably the best croissants I've ever had. The owner was so friendly, and gave us good suggestions. There is also a picnic table out the back door in case you want to eat outside! Anyone I know that will be in the Folly Beach, Charleston area, I tell them about this place. Loved it! read more

What an incredible spot! We walked in via the back door and took a seat at the small bar. When we arrived it was busy, but within 10 minutes there was a line out the door. We were waited on promptly and had great seats to watch the magic happen in the kitchen. The coffee and pain au chocolate aux amande we started with were fantastic! I ordered the baquette breakfast sandwich with bleu cheese, bacon and arugula. It was divine and just the right amount. This place was magic from start to finish!
