After a long wonderful vacation we decided to get a quick breakfast before hitting the road. We stopped at Baguette Magic because of all of the great Yelp reviews. The bakery is full of amazing croissants, we planned on eating a quick breakfast sandwich but we saw a plate of French Toast with berries on its way to a table and we knew we had to order it. We purchased croissants to munch on until the French Toast arrived, we had the almond berry and almond chocolate croissant and they were amazingly good. Came here a few months back, with a toddler. Ordered a Smoked salmon on a baguette, can't remember what else came on the sandwich, but the bread tasted fresh, and the fruit that came a long with it, i appreciated for my little guest. I was heading down Folly to another breakfast spot, but made a hard right into the parking lot when I saw the sign. Who doesn't want delicious French baked good in the morning?! I had an almond and berry pastry and it was divine. The coffee was very good too. I sat and stared at the menu as I ate contemplating what I'll order the next day on my way out and if the order will include breakfast and lunch! James island's best kept secret. Exactly what we were looking for - a quaint, unassuming but uber charming restaurany with killer food. Felt like a lil French cafe too with cheerful French music and a really friendly French dude (presumably owner) taking orders. ( I thought they were supposed to be jerks right? :). The 2 guy that run it clearly take pride I their craft. I sat at the bar watching them prepare a meal and it made me feel great to see people who really give a damn about their food, presentation etc. Turkey Brie croissant was great and my wife's 3 cheese baguette was really something. We also brought home a loaf of bread - never had brioche but it just like a croissant toasted and buttered. Keep it up guys - y'all have a fan for life. read more

This place has authentic French guys making all their breads from scratch. How more people on the island don't go here and how they don't have a line a mile down folly road amazes me. As mentioned by other reviewers, this place is owned and operated by a real French guy. I think his name is Matt. He has a cool French accent, and he is very laid back. He serves his own fresh made croissants and other breads that are made on location. His menu offers croissant sandwiches and other breakfast/brunch items that may involve eggs. I noticed that Tuesday is his two for $12 day for sandwiches. Normally, they are $8 each. Alert! He is closed on Mondays. The coffee is French pressed. The place is very small, like a tiny cafe. It closes at 3pm, which suggests that its primary mission is breakfast and lunch. read more

Food is great and staff are very nice however on the weekends they frequently run out of key ingredients hours before close. If you want just a pastry and coffee that is fine but If you wish for a sandwich or salad and they are out of multiple kinds of cheese and fruit you're out of luck. This place is really good. I had the roast beef, walnut, and blue cheese and the mozz, pruscuito, and tomato baguette sandwiches. The roast beef was delicious; real roasted beef, not cold cuts. It was in the top 10 sandwiches I've ever had. They also put what im guessing is a balsamic sauce on the bread which is really good. I would have given 5 stars, but it seems odd that they stop making sandwiches at 2pm. Also, one sandwich was much larger than the other even though they were the same price. I assume bc the breads were different sizes? Lastly, it's not really a place to sit and eat. They only have one table. read more

I pass this place everyday. My husband finally took me here for lunch and we are so glad we did. We got the salmon dill baguette sandwich, turkey brie baguette sandwich, french toast with nutella and pecans and finally a butter croissant. Everything was fresh and delicious. My brie sandwich reminded me of the sandwich I had in Paris. My one year old daughter loved the croissant so I will be going back for that soon too. The french toast was fluffy, sweet but not too sweet with perfect amount of nutella and pecans. The place doesn't look all that from the outside but trust me, it's worth checking out. Went to Baguette Magic today for a late brunch/ lunch. It was AMAZING! The lady who helped us so sweet and the food was outstanding. I ordered the feta, spinach and honey croissant and it was so fresh and delicious. I also had fruit salad which consisted of strawberries, kiwi and fresh pineapple. I watched them assemble the fruit salad so I knew it was fresh. My boyfriend had the an egg sandwich with bacon and cheddar with roasted potatoes. It came on their seeded organic baguette. Baguette magic is fantastic. It's an authentic baguette and croissant place. When I'm itching for a baguette sandwich this is the place to go! I had the triple cheese baguette, I love cheese so it's easy to say I really enjoyed this baguette. I really like their balsamic vinaigrette tossed lettuce it almost has a hint of horseradish! The bakers were making brioche today, and it smelled wonderful. I asked some questions about the baking process and how to make croissants, and the bakers were really friendly and forthcoming about how to make a croissant. Apparently there are 81 layers of dough and 27 layers of butter. They make them fresh every day, and this is also the same with their other breads! Can't wait to go back and take my boyfriend there for the salmon with dill cheese baguette that also looks delicious. This place is definitely a winner, worth the 8$ baguette sandwich, it's huge! read more

Such a hidden little gem. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but you must get in there and try it out. The owners are straight from France and the bread is made in house. Sometimes I just go to grab a baguette, if they're not sold out. The croissants are amazing, too. My favorites sandwiches are the turkey, brie, and arugula with balsamic reduction or the ham and cheese with creamy mushrooms, both on a baguette. So yummy! read more
