Decided to have dinner here last night. They are taking COVID 19 precautions which is great. We ordered conch fritters to start and they were not very good but the fire cracker shrimp was delicious and the dipping sauce too. For the main dish I got coconut shrimp with Caribbean rice and broccoli... the shrimp was good! Our other main dish was the buttermilk fried chicken. This option wasn't our favorite as their were too many sauces and flavors mixed in one dish. I wouldn't order that again. We also got the "mamas hooch & holler" drink flight which brought three mini drinks to try. This drink option was fun and all drinks were good! I don't understand why this place has 3 stars, I absolutely love it and my standard is pretty high. This is a Caribbean place so I usually stick to seafood. The seafood chowder, salmon tostada salad, coconut shrimp are 100% five starsss. SO GOOD. The mash potato fried chicken entree is also amazing, just very high in calories. The ambiance out on the deck is great. One of my favorite spots in Kendall. Price is very reasonable for a good meal. Totally recommend eating here. read more

The manager on duty (Rosie) got mad at us since the moment I walked in with my service dog. She seems to really dislike service dogs or people because both my friends and I noticed her condescending tone and eye rolls when she was inquiring about my service dog. It was extremely unprofessional and I was surprised to see someone who behaves like the way she did, hold a manager position when she clearly needs to be trained in customer service. I was so confused as to why she was rude to us that I even asked my friends if they knew her in real life, cause she acted like one of us dated her significant other or something. So odd. read more

I visited for the first time and it was my worst experience ever . The waiter acted as if we were getting the food for free never came by our table to see if we needed anything and brought us plastic silverware because they had a party and didn't have any clean silverware it was very disappointing. Then when we paid our bill he had the nerve to ask for gratuity and l told him he didn't earn one and ask to speak with the manager which she was very professional and understanding and during our conversation another customer came by and said he experienced the same attitude with the same waiter it was horrible service it's a shame because the food was actually good but the service suck !!!!! For a chain restaurant this place is not too bad. I'm not a huge fan of the food. Not that's it's bad I just find it kind of blah. I mean the the thing about this place is it's basically a beach themed restaurant in a city where we have plenty of places like this actually by the beach. But I guess it's cool for people who are into the Margaritaville vibe, but love all the way out here in west Kendall and don't want to make the drive. I do find the outside deck that faces Kendall drive the best aspect of the restaurant. They have a bar out here and love music or a dj a lot of nights. They have really great happy hour 4-7. Good deals on classic cocktails wine and beer. We went on National Margarita day and got $2.22 classic margaritas, which was pretty awesome. Also half off all appetizers. I give it a 2.5. It's a hit or miss type of place. I don't understand the whole fuss about it and how it gets packed with people...my guess is their entertainment outside and hh specials. That's what I would recommend this restaurant for because the times I've gone for dinner the food hasn't been the best and definitely not worth the calories, money, and time. This last time I had dinner with my mom we ordered the shrimp and chicken tostones - horrible! I had to return it. The shrimps were not seasoned they tasted as if they were just boiled and throw on top of the tostones with cheese, etc same as the chicken no flavor. Also, we had the firecracker shrimps which those were good. For entree my mom ordered the salmon cooked with almond crusted sauce along with asparagus and mashed sweet potato. The asparagus were over cooked as well as the salmon. I ordered the shrimp& mahi lemongrass sauce bowl. Again the shrimp tasted just boiled, but I mixed it with the lemongrass sauce and rice cause I didn't want to return something else. Also, some of the vegetables were over cooked. Now, I think I'll only come back for their happy hour cause overall their entrees aren't up to par. What a terrible experience with Jessica tonight ! Seems like she wasn't happy to be at work . Service was subpar at best . Unable to order a second drink during happy hour because she dilly dallied with coming back to our table to see if we wanted another drink . My food was sub par , jerk skillet shrimp was Luke warm and the bread was as hard as a rock ! Jerk wings came out and were not hot either ! I asked her to take them off my bill and thankfully she did . She brought to go boxes and we waited another 10 minutes for the check . I'm happy that Bahama breeze is open and can afford to pay employees but I won't be retuning any time soon . I was taken here on my first trip to Miami. Its such a nice fun place! How often do you come across Caribbean food?! Its not super authentic and there are a lot of things on the menu that aren't Caribbean. I had one of the fruity alcoholic drinks that were really tasty and seafood paella. HUGE portions! I went to Bahama Breeze with my family earlier this week after another round of physical therapy... This place was several blocks from where I get physical therapy and since it was getting late we decided to stop by. Have to say the service was excellent, the waitress was patient. My two family members actually never had been to a Bahamas breeze before and she actually took time to explain to them the menu and tried to find food they would like to eat. We started we an appetizer: the skillet simmered jerk shrimp. This appetizer consists of large shrimp in garlic-thyme butter with warm Cuban bread for dunking. The shrimp was perfectly season...spicy but not overly so. The mix of the shrimp and the Cuban bread was just heavenly and was actually the highlight of the meal. We all ordered different main courses. My brother had the Calypso Shrimp Linguine. I had the taste of Jamaica which has jerk pork, jerk chicken, beef empanada, callaloo, sweet plantains, white rice and black beans. My mother simply ordered a bowl of the black bean soup. My brother thoroughly enjoyed his meal... he likes heat...heck he love it...my mother and I on the other hand could not say the same. It's not that it tasted bad....not at all it's just that it was too hot and spicy for us. The black bean soup for us was like liquor fire and I guess the jerk in my chicken was too jerk for me. Every bite I took it became progressively more difficult for me to finish my meal. Not sure if it was overly seasoned/spicy but just too spicy for us. Except everyone there mainly spoke Spanish and the artist performing that day sung in Spanish the whole time. It has been a while since I visited this location, but I always remembered loving the pina coladas here and I had no idea they had such a great happy hour. During the week from 4pm to 6pm all appetizers are half off and some drinks as well, the ultimate pina colada being one so that is exactly what I ordered and it was just as delicious as I remember it to be. We sat outside for a quick drink and appetizers and the weather was phenomenal and they had some live music playing, it created a very Caribbean ambiance that sets the mood. Makes you feel as you were right in the Bahamas, It's a great date night spot . Unsure why the average here is only 3-stars. Came for a mid-day drink and had a fantastic time. Great vibes and the prices were very reasonable, even outside of happy hour. I got the mojito cubano and was very happy to see how big it was - PLUS - they use crushed ice, which I also love. It tasted great, very refreshing. The staff was all very pleasant and attended to us quickly and with a great attitude. The bathrooms were also very clean which is a huge plus (and they have those paper towel stations right by the door so that you don't have to touch the handle). I will never come here or any other Bahama Breeze location again. Apparently, corporate made a decision to take their habanero chicken wings off the menu. That's the one and only dish I come here for and it's been on the menu for ever. Even my bartender agrees it was a terrible decision and admits she's lost other customers as well. I hope it comes back or the whole chain goes down. I know the removal of one dish seems like a petty reason to drop an entire restaurant chain so I'll say this much more in addition... as for this Kendall location (I haven't been to any other in a long time), it smells bad, service has declined immensely, servers seem unhappy due to the steep decline in clientele (Duffy's opening and now Latin House Grill is definitely contributing to this), and the dingy old seating is enough to never come back. There are just way too many much better restaurants in this area for this one to survive. read more

I am usually a big fan of Bahama Breeze but during my visit last night I was disappointed. Our waitress came to our table wearing a face covering that was far below her nose. I informed her that her mask was not effective worn in this manner. Her response was, "I'm wearing a mask." My wife again explained that if it isn't covering her nose it isn't effective in preventing the spread of coronavirus. This wasn't due to the mask occasionally slipping down because after we spoke to her about it she consistently wore her mask covering only her mouth. Before we got any food or drinks I spoke to a manager and I asked for a new waitress. The manager assigned a new waitress but the previous waitress did not cover her nose while waiting tables even after we spoke to the manager. This certainly makes me wonder if Bahama Breeze takes the mitigation of the spread of the virus seriously. read more

Had dinner here tonight. Last time I stepped foot in this restaurant was over 10 years ago. Not sure why we stopped going, but we simply did. Tonight, we headed over. The restaurant has plenty of parking that is shared with a few anchor stores, one being Old Navy. We did not have a reservation. Actually didn't think to make one. The wait was 25 minutes. Not bad at all. Restaurant was clean and well kept. It hasn't changed much in decor over all these years. There was plenty of movement, lots of families, couples, and customers walking in and out of the place. We were seated outside on a high table and were attended to by a wonderful waiter named Orlando. He helped us navigate through the menu, ordered our two rounds of drinks and our yummy appetizers. I'd recommend the yuca cheese sticks and my all time favorite, the coconut shrimp. This restaurant back ten years made the best mojito drinks. I'm happy to report that they STILL make them just as good as years back. Make certain that you order one. I do not believe you will be disappointed. We had a great time. The televisions were not loud, the music wasn't overbearing, and the fans were running. Our server gets a shout out for making our return visit memorable. Thank you, Orlando! As for our wait on the food, it was non-existent. We ordered and within ten minutes we were being served. im hopeful that on our return trip, the bar will be open for business. I'm not typically a huge fan of chain restaurants but Bahama Breeze gets a pass from me. Is the food going to blow you away? Probably not. But It's a great place to come with friends, sit on the outdoor patio, listen to some live music, grab some island cocktails and share some appetizers. The mojitos are one of my favorites as well as the spinach dip, guac, coconut shrimp, skillet shrimp, and conch fritters. They also have a late night happy hour that starts at 9pm where drinks are as low as $4 and half off all appetizers. The service was slower than usual as others have mentioned but our waiter explained that they have been having computer issues and let us know the moment we sat down. I came to celebrate a friend. I hadn't been here in years, but it's definitely gotten better. The live band was so nice, playing bachata and salsa. A very lively place and great service. The waiter was really patient with us even though we debated moving to the inside twice because someone was smoking a cigar (one of my friends is pregnant, but it wasn't unbearable for the average person). Bahama breeze was a real treat. I went with 5 guys but it was much better than 5 guys. Ha ha. We had a 30 minute wait but that was okay. I had the yuca cheese balls from pollo tropical and they were not very good at all!!! These were way better, thumbs up then for drinks I had a rum runner. That was sweet and refreshing but I could still taste the rum! Very satisfying, well balanced drink, thumbs up . Then for the MAIN choruses... I had the Maui Maui taco, 3 of them! With arroz armadillo and black beans. The Maui Maui tacos were TO DIE FOR. Nice soft white flour tortillas. Juicy, grilled, tender, perfectly cooked, and grilled fish. (The Maui Maui is also known as dolphin in Miami which I learned during my stay. The tacos were great the rice and beans were great. I thought the tacos looked a little dry at first and I would need extra sauce but I bit into it dry first before trying to get sauce as I always like to do and I was pleasantly surprised that I needed no sauce.
