We had a great time. We picked this place with our friends based on the online reviews and it was perfect. The food was amazing. The meats were cooked to perfection, the salads were fresh and flavorful, the seafood appetizers - fresh and crispy. Our waitress Stephania was friendly, recommended great choices and pairings. The food preparation time was very reasonable. The setting was intimate and contemporary. We ended up being the last one in the evening and the staff was very patient with us. This evening, we ate at Bahche. We had the Octopus, Ceviche, and kalamarakia. The ceviche and kalamari were very good. The Octopus was even better. We had the chicken souvlaki, the beef souvlaki, and the lamb souvlak plates. All were really good and flavorful. In my opinion, the beef souvlaki was the best of the 3. This is a great place. We enjoyed the appetizers, the dinner, and the bread pudding afterwards. The service was great. We will be coming back. read more

We got lucky to get a table for four last night right at 7 o'clock without a reservation! The atmosphere definitely exceeded my expectations -- the space feels open and elegant with high ceilings, a stylish bar, and even an outdoor seating area that isn't right up against the street (a big plus!). We used to come here years ago when this spot was an ice cream shop before it closed, so I was thrilled to see it brought back to life -- and they've done such a beautiful job transforming it. It's conveniently located near the mall, and now it's one of my new favorite neighborhood spots. The food was excellent across the board. We ordered the pita bread sampler, Caesar salad, shrimp skewers, steak skewers, and lamb chops -- everything was flavorful and perfectly prepared. My favorite was definitely the lamb chops -- tender, juicy, and grilled to perfection. I'm so happy to have such a great restaurant so close to home. I am giving this place a single star because I can't submit this with 0 stars. I went here for a quiet birthday lunch. I blame myself. I read the reviews, and like an buffoon, I believed them. The reviewers on this particular restaurant are why I have no faith left in humanity and their tastebuds. The very definition of objectivity has died in 2025. The Bay Area boasts of some really good and high quality Turkish & Mediterranean food. Between the food at Mazra, Nomadic Kitchen, Cobani, Kabul, Shaalizar, and even Millbrae Kebabs, we're spoilt for choice. How a restaurant of such lackluster calibre even gets away on any good conscience serving the kind of food they did to us, is absolutely beyond me. The Muhamarra was over processed and swimming in oil. The salmon was served on a giant bed of flaccid zucchini and broccoli, no sauces, poorly seasoned, and overcooked to a point that I felt terrible for the sorry posthumous fate of this dead fish. I spooned the remainder of the Muhamarra onto the salmon to make it palatable. The chicken was very okay, nothing to write home about. The only saving grace was that it wasn't overcooked. Our standards are so low at this point that we're paying gratitude for the food being humanly edible. I'm not sure what the chef is thinking...but they need to take a long, hard look at why they became a chef, and go on a soul searching journey and truly ask why they felt they could get away with plating such poor plates of food. And we, as consumers, need to ask ourselves why we'd be willing to ever waste our hard earned money during a recession on something so entirely lacking in quality. I'll give this place only one credit: it has helped me evolve a strategy to how I approach new restaurants. I'll be ordering one appetizer and one entree with whoever I go with and share, minimize my fiscal damages before I waste any extra dollars ordering separate entrees and desserts. Newish Greek/Mediterranean place in an upcoming area of SM. We loved it, such a welcome addition, especially because there's nothing like it around here. The mezzo spreads awesome, especially the baba ghanoush, smoky, no mistaking they fired it over an open flame, skin of the eggplant intact and peeled it off. The hummus could've used more punch, e.g. more garlic, salt and lemon. The pita soft and fresh. The octopus nicely charred around the edges but tender--terrific flavors. The whole sea bass with potatoes super fresh and flaky, but a tad dry, could've been more flavorful. In all, a fantastic lunch. The interior with comfortable seating, a big screen t.v., excellent customer service and the prices reasonable. Parking (street) easy and free. read more

The person who answered the phone was incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming. They happily answered all of my (probably silly!) questions and even asked whether we preferred to sit indoors or outdoors. The day before our reservation, I received a confirmation message, which was a thoughtful touch. When we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, and what stood out most was how sincere it felt. These weren't just professional smiles--they made us feel like truly welcomed guests. Our server, Stefania (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly!), was absolutely wonderful. She was warm, funny, attentive, and made our evening even more enjoyable. She asked whether we'd like to watch the game, whether we preferred a table in the shade, and even offered to bring a heater later in the evening if it became chilly. It was clear that everyone genuinely wanted us to have the best possible experience. The food was outstanding. Our group had very different tastes, yet every single person found something they loved, and everyone left happy. Every dish was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. We particularly enjoyed the mezze dishes such as the Muhamara with roasted peppers, the Spanakopita, the calamari, the paella and the seafood paella. I ordered seafood paella, seafood linguine and sautés vegetables for dinner. I got on time delivery but When I got the food, the box of seafood paella was sunk into the sauce in bottom box which contained linguine, the sauce of linguine has spilled out into the plastic bag. It's so mess. I don't know if the dasher hasn't handled properly or the restaurant needs to improve the packaging quality. read more

Bahche made our day out on a warm sunny day, even better! We came to Field Works to watch the England vs. Croatia game, and since they are in partnership with Bahche, the food was brought straight to our table! Warm environment and fun people to be around. The dishes were super fresh, warm and ready to munch by all at the table! The ceviche was super juicy and tasty, the shrimp, fish and octopus was absolutely delicious. The beef and chicken skewers had just the right marinate and grill marks that made us feel outdoors, as if they were grilled right beside us. All around excellent experience for myself my brother and our friends. Anybody visiting this area needs to visit Bahche, it's super convenient to get to between El Camino and 101-S in a super nice renewed area of Hillsdale/San Mateo. Their baklava with ice cream topped off the amazing experience and it was to our liking. I must call out their attention to detail, check out my photo of the baklava. Went with a couple friends. Nice new option in the area. We tried a few of the mezzes. - calamari, papas bravas with a delicious aioli and the spread combination with a hearty dose of pitas! If one recommendation would be to make the papas bravas smaller. They were really big! We shared souvlakis - The chicken souvlaki was very tasty. And so were the shrimp ones. Well seasoned and cooked! We were seated outside as we didnt have a reservation (they will be on Open Table soon I heard) There are heaters but no other protection. For cooler and windy nights it may not be an good option even with the heaters ( hence me taking 1 star off) . Inside is pretty cool with a nice bar, wine list and overall ambiance. We started with the muhammara, which was rich and smoky and came with fresh bread. We also had the kofte, papas bravas, and paella, everything was super flavorful and well-balanced. For dessert, we had the baklava and creme brule -both classics, and both done right. The wine list is impressive and leans Mediterranean, which I appreciated. I was in the city for a few days, visiting from Las Vegas and came across this gem. My husband is Greek and we have a place back home that we love, but we were craving some good Greek food in San Mateo. This place was amazing! They have a great selection of Mediterranean style cuisine, and it was all done very well. The spread combo was great to get a taste of everything, the pitas were soft and delicious. Came here for lunch with a friend today. Had the seafood paella that others had suggested, and it did not disappoint! Very tasty sauce with the right mix of saffron and other spices.
