Food, music, the decor and service was top notch. We decided to give this place a try for my husbands birthday and it did not disappoint. My teenage boys are never down for Mediterranean and they walked out saying they'd be back. Very much enjoyed my dinner at Bahche! The staff gave a very warm welcome and were attentive, which was much appreciated. The food was outstanding. The chicken souvlaki was very tender and seasoned very well. I enjoyed the oktapodi immensely. The balance was exceptional, and it was perfectly cooked. Octopus done well is almost always a sign of a talented chef and they nailed it. Ending the dinner with an extremely memorable dessert, the bread pudding was absolutely perfect and was a generous portion! Their wine list is very thoughtfully put together by someone who clearly knows how to find unusual wines of high quality. I really appreciated the offer to sample a wine I was curious about, this isn't common and is something that really helps ensure that a diner makes a choice that they will enjoy! I quite enjoyed a Greek beer, which was very refreshing on a warm evening. Plenty of choices! The ambiance is quite nice. It's quite narrow but long space, with outdoor seating, some tables, and an extremely long, beautiful wood bar. It's a great combination of balancing a vibrant space with elevated food. When I checked the hours, it said the restaurant closes at 10 PM. My friend and I arrived at 9 PM, but we were told the restaurant was closed and that we wouldn't be served. I'm not blaming anyone or leaving a bad rating, but if you're closing at 9 PM, please update your hours. We drove about 40 minutes to get there and now we're heading back home. read more

Our server was just okay. He did come to check on us once or twice but at one point he came to the table, all of wine glasses were empty. He didn't ask if we wanted another glass. We all know that's a big profit for restaurants. He waited until we were all finished with our meals and asked if we needed anything else. We THEN had to ask for another glass of wine and what their desserts were. The paella was just okay and the branzino was very salty. It's a really cute spot and I think it has potential. But I think the servers need some more training and the main dishes need a little more refinement. The baklava was really good though. read more

Just where do I begin? We arrived at 6:00 p.m., party of 4 with no reservations, and there were many open tables. The hostess/bartender said every table was reserved. After some hemming and hawing about "outside" or sit at the bar we decided on the bar. Our group gets together once a month, at a different restaurant, to socialize and eat so it was really an anti-social situation. I noticed a table opened up in the corner and after inquiring we were allowed to sit there. The chairs felt like you're sitting on metal rods and the seats are like sitting in a low rider. Pretty good so far, right?! We ordered calamari, a Greek salad and a "dip" sampler. Nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about. The main event: I had the Bahche burger. Should be called the Boring Burger. My girlfriend had the Mediterranean pasta and she left half of it so that speaks for itself. Two of the 4 had tenderloin souvlaki and one of their skewers had so much sinew it was inedible. The waitress comped her meal. The other plate, to be fair, was fine. Dessert ~ two coconut creme brulee and one bread pudding. Bread pudding was the best part of the meal. Something was missing with the creme brulee...oh yeah they didn't "burn"/ caramelize the top which as the name suggests, brulee, is supposed to have a burnt top. Guess what? Their torch is broken so they just served it as is and didn't even try to explain that it was broken they just served it. Embarrassing for them not us. The to-go order of chicken souvlaki was never put into the kitchen so that was an order we canceled. Note: The whole time we were there there was at least one empty table at any given time. I came to Bahche on a Friday evening with some girlfriends. It is a lovely, cozy place with a nice bar in the center. Our server was so nice and helpful, and helped me choose a delicious glass of wine. I ordered the grilled tenderloin souvlaki, which was so good. It came with rice and a salad. We started with the spread combo, which was a huge hit. The muhammara turned out to be a favorite. My friends all enjoyed their food, which included the chicken souvlaki and seafood paella. Last weekend was my birthday. My kids want to know what I'd like to eat for the occasion. I wanted something delicious, light and healthy. Naturally I opted for Greek Mediterranean food which I was craving for. I told my daughter to try Bahche since it has very good ratings. It was a dinner for 8. I preferred to have it at home to spend longer hours with family. So my daughter ordered a big dinner and picked them up. We had calamari for appetizer which was great. Spread Combination and lots of pita bread. All taste awesome especially the hummus. Horiatiki Salata was good and healthy. Seafood Paella was tasty and very good but I loved the Seafood Luguini more but wished there were more clams or mussels in it. Then we also had Souvlakis, mixed skewers of grilled chicken, shrimps, beef and lamb meatballs. They're very tasty, tender and grilled to perfection. With sliced potatoes and rice and lots of different sauces makes it more wholesome and yummy. Everything tastes balanced and fresh. Didn't turn out to be a light dinner because we enjoyed it so much and we're so full. My kids picked the right place and I was so happy to have a fantastic Mediterranean family dinner from Bahche and a wonderful birthday. Thank you for the delicious food. We really enjoyed them all! We were shocked and amazed by the quality of the food at Bahche. Wonderful! It brought to mind the quality of one of our favorite SF restaurants, Kokkari,...only to discover that some of the recipes were from the father who worked as a chef at Kokkari. Everything was absolutely delicious. We've never written a Yelp review, but this gem of a restaurant deserves to be listed at the highest tier in San Mateo. The muhamaru was favorful. The chicken moist. The potatoes brava had a perfect soft, yet crispiness to carry off the sauce....and the baklava - to die for. BRAVO! Tried this new restaurant for the first time. Will not return. ordered salmon that had no interesting flavoring/prep and did not taste fresh. the salmon was bad and inedible. Outdoor seating not enclosed just out on public walkway. Service weak, No one came to check on our meal or refresh drinks. We also ordered paella which was ok but make better at home. It was too expensive a meal not to be better. They kindly did not charge for the salmon. I hope these are new business bugs. read more

For main course we ordered the lamb chops, seafood linguine, salmon, paella, chicken kabobs, a bit of everything. Lamb chops cooked to perfection, kabobs moist & delicious. Food is delicious and authentic,all right flavors...has to mention, ℹ order ground lamb meatballs ,very tasty but had a lot of tendons ... maybe they should clean lamb better or use a different cut, also Papas Bravos basically boiled potatoes, and then they deep fry. most of them were underdone inside but again spices and flavors were there Service was impeccable, fast, professional we asked for the heater and the heater was there in less than a minute and also I'd like to express my gratitude to Aslan a gentlemen who was attending us not because he spoke three languages, including Russian, but just his professionalism and friendliness, that's very appropriate not into your face. Ambience is wonderful. We came in at 7:30 and all seats inside were occupied. They offer us sit outside and we said yes because the weather was appropriate and definitely with the heater next to you. It was just very enjoyable. We will definitely return and try some other dishes. I hope they will keep up the good work because they just recently opened and I absolutely recommend this place to anybody who likes Greek food and healthy food, but don't be hard on my review.
