so as thai goes, I'm picky. not like a normal person picky, like a spectrumy picky. you say, "but orian, everyone loves thai!" "nay" i say, i do not. possibly because unlike most people my first taste of thai, was simply put, gross. it was "homemade" with bay shrimp, some kinda weird rice, frozen veggie medly, and some kind of acidic juice and possibly some rancid lime juice from a bottle, plus about a cup of chopped thai peppers. so already the deck is stacked, cause that taste of homemade "som tom soup" is forever etched in my mind. I have of course, with great persuading, gone and had the occasional meal at a thai place, but usually something really hrm mediocre like pad thai, which at a usual 10 to 12$ always seemed bland and nothing to get your panties in a bunch about. so..good news, amid the gargantuan number of thai places in portland there are actually stand alone places that make even the biggest skeptic be able to truely say i love thai. there are a few other places, plus this place. so the disclaimer is ive never dined here but we get take out often. but this is about the food! keepers, pretty much everything we ordered, the wonton soup (hooray!) the pad kee mao, delish, now the star is most deff chinese sausage fried rice. wowza thats some good fried rice. really deeply sweet and savory with excellently cooked rice. i could drool and go on, but you get the picture. in conclusion I have been saved! places like this make a hater celebrate. read more

One word describes Bai Mint Thai Kitchen... Deliciogoodawesomtastic! This was by far the best Thai food I have ever had. I have a gluten allergy and Thai food is one of the few things I can go out to a restaurant to eat and it is great to have found a place this good. I am VERY picky when it come to curry and their yellow curry with chicken was ridiculously tasty. The chicken was tender, the potatoes were perfect and the all around flavor was freakin addicting. This is my second time eating here. I got take out both times. This time I got the Spicy Chicken & Shrimp with Crispy Basil. And oh man, it was good I could have cried when it was gone. But it could have just been the chili peppers, I like it spicy and they make it how you like it. Both times the veggies were plentiful, fresh and crisp(not overcooked). And it was so flavorful. I am looking forward to going back and trying some of the house specialties. This place has Amazing crab fried rice. May be one of the spendy rice dishes on the menu but well worth the $15. Nice large chunks of crab meat and even three crab claws with nice chunks of meat in them. Enough for two meals and delicious. I will definitely be back. read more

This place is absolutely the best in terms of quality- I am a fan of Pineapple Fried Rice and I have had some variation of this Thai dish over many years, many places-many times here at Bai Mint and I am always pleased with the chicken that I order in my dish- always tender sliced breast meat chicken. They do not do the 'money saving' techniques that some- certainly not all- restaurants do of cutting up the most unappealing parts of chicken so one finds inedible fatty, gristley chicken pieces used in the chicken dishes. Some restaurants use the fairly tough flat pieces of chicken that seem to be a commercial product-better, but not the real deal that Bai Mint uses. The dish has a lot of good white meat chicken slices, fresh cucumber, tomatoes, cashews, and pineapple chunks. Other items on the menu show the same attention to quality but Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken is hands down my favorite. Thank you Bai Mint for choosing quality. read more

Very happy to have tried this place! I had the roasted duck with tangerine sauce and it was outstanding. Beautiful presentation and delicious. I thought it was priced reasonably for the dish. The menu did say it was boneless, and that was mostly true, but in addition to the slices of duck that were boneless, there was a piece of duck leg, bone included, so that should be corrected. Service was good too. I will definitely be going back and can't wait to try something else from the menu. read more

I got togo food here the other night and it was good! I got pad Thai with chicken, it had great flavor and i like the chicken they use. I also got a cup of Tom Kah (most places won't do a cup) and salad rolls w/ peanut and plum sauce, both were yummy. I thought I would try this place instead of going to my usual Tom Yum across the street just to switch things up. I will be back for sure. read more

Not sure what has happened, but this place has gone downhill... I believe what another reviewer said about their chicken coming prepacked and precooked :/ It wasn't that way a few years ago, but I've definitely experienced the same funky chicken. It kind of reminds me of the chicken pieces in subway sandwiches, if you need to know. Staff has been kinder in years past (turnover), food used to be my favorite. i've moved on. Also, I noticed the last time there that the thai iced tea/coffees were poured from a container in the fridge, then half&half poured in for the swirling white effect. Neither of those things bother me, but isn't thai iced tea/coffee supposed to be made w sweetened condensed milk? Bottom line, they may be shortchanging quality and service for profit. Your standard Thai restaurant, though not that good. Their portions are huge, but the prices are also a bit on the high side compared to other Thai restaurants. Their curries are way too runny and difficult to mix in well with the rice to enjoy. I also tried their pad thai, which turned out mediocre and too saucy. Overall, the flavors of the dishes here are basic and weak, tempered to the standard unadventurous American palette. Just go down the street for two blocks for Tom Yum Thai Cuisine. Basically the same fare, but much better-tasting, and parking is easier. read more

I never really eat Thai. But I tried this restaurant this afternoon. I really enjoyed the vibe of the place. It had a modern kick to it, while still keeping to its traditional Thai decorations. Their menu was super easy to follow and really nicely written. I ordered the Pad Thai with pork as my protein. It was absolutely delicious!! I always forget how much I love that dish. I was very pleased with all of the flavors and the presentation of the dish when it set in front of me. It was a large serving, and I had enough to bring home and enjoy later. The other cool thing about this restaurant is that there is a take out option, and it seemed pretty quick from what I could tell from another customer that came in. I will definitely be using this feature later down the road. I loved this restaurant and will be returning in the future! read more

Ordered through d-dish. It arrived quickly, so I was surprised to find all my food luke-warm. Ordered Pad Thai with chicken, fried rice with chicken, and an order of salad rolls. Peanut sauce and salad rolls were great. Fried rice had no veggies but a couple green onions and some mixed carrots and corn from the frozen vegetable section. The rice may have been basmati [wtf??] or minute rice/parboiled. Certainly not a texture I'm used to other than when I worked in a cafeteria.. Pad Thai had great flavor but was a congealed blob. I don't know if I ended up with some food someone canceled, or if they made it in 2 minutes and it took the driver 15 to get there, but there's no way the driver picked it up hot and ready. I wouldn't doubt that going in would result in a better experience, but it's obvious somebody didn't give a shit about my food, and that frustrates me more than anything. My German grandmother makes better fried rice for christ's sake. BUT they do charge the least for delivery out of the Thai restaurants on d-dish.com... so that's something! With food quality like this I won't return. read more

We have gotten take out from Bai Mint twice now and tried a variety of their items. Seriously...every single thing has been delicious. The red curry was the best I have ever had. The pineapple fried rice with chicken had big plump pieces of pineapple throughout and a lot of chicken..so so good. Also, the tofu fresh rolls are great (along with the peanut sauce). It's probably the best Thai food I have ever had. We will definitely order from them or eat there often. So happy to have it close by! read more

Been to Thailand a couple of times, this restaurant comes closest to authetic Thai as it gets. Recommend the Thai tea, shrimp pad thai, spicy catfish stir fry. The Tom Yum soup is also yummy will definately return. read more

Didn't love it. I got a lunch dish, shrimp with peanut sauce. It was barely warm. I was worried about getting ill. Luckily, I was OK after 24 hours. not impressed. I had the p9 which is like the swimming rama i cant remember what it was called there. But really lacked in flavor. I had to salt the heck out of it and added soy sauce and hot sauce. Maybe i just ordered the wrong thing? Also, i could tell the chicken had been previously frozen, which i guess is ok.....but also there was a layer of fat on nearly every piece. Really not impressed. You get more then what you pay for for a group of 3 people our lunch/dinner was $27 they don't have a lunch menu on Saturdays. We stopped here enroute to airport at 6pm on a Sunday. Relaxed atmosphere, quiet enough to converse easily. Not super busy. The Tom kha soup was steaming and delicious. The 2 shrimp salad rolls arrived stuffed full of fresh greens and even a bit of avocado. Although one fell apart because it was so stuffed, we ended up splitting it; my half was easy to eat with a fork, the better to enjoy more fresh peanut sauce on it. Today's special Beef Green curry was loaded with wonderfully tender morsels of beef, and the sauce, rich yet not very spicy (as those who ordered preferred). Very fresh broccoli in the Pad See Ew with tasty chicken bits made me want to bring my husband here as that is his favorite dish. I had never ordered Fried Rice- but glad I tried this one because it too is quite nicely flavored with fresh veggies and slices of "Chinese sausage". It turns out that is a firm reddish colored fine grained sausage-not very spicy yet enough to impart good flavor to the rice as did the sprinkles of dried pork atop which added texture as well. Overall, flavorful food in a quiet neighborhood atmosphere served promptly and efficiently. Will return. read more
