Best Bites has three food truck gathering in the Whittier and Santa Fe Springs area on Mondays,…read moreTuesdays, and Thursdays. My particular visit was on a Tuesday night at Pioneer high school in Whittier. There were 12 food trucks circling the edge of the parking lot. At 6:30 PM there were a lot of people eating, but not a lot of people waiting in lines at the food trucks. By 7:30 PM, most of the crowd had dissipated. When there's not a lot of business, the food truck owners tend to play on their phones. Many of my Instagram and tweets were commented or retweeted, which tells me that they were not busy enough in sales. It's an excellent food truck gathering, with plenty of choices. As a long time food truck blogger, I feel that there's too many trucks and not enough people. Best bites could reduce the trucks from 12 to say, eight trucks, and there will still be plenty of trucks for the people, and more business for the food trucks. A total win-win situation. I do like there's plenty of tables and chairs, and a DJ spinning catchy tunes. On my visit there was also a Photo Booth that the fans can use. Plenty of free parking, but unfortunately once the sun went down, the place got very dark. I hope this location continues to thrive, as the location is very good and the community seems to like it.

Like others commented the price tag for what you get is paltry. The lobster was good, and butter is always good, but small. Maybe I'll have to go to Boston instead.

Well that did not happen to me when I finally got to try a Lobster roll from the famous LobstaTruck. A few years ago I was at the Tustin AMC when I saw the truck. I had heard about it so we went over only to see a line that was 40 yards deep. No way to make our movie so we put it off. A few months ago I was somewhere that they were going to be only to learn that the truck broke down and the killer was last month when I was in Irvine and saw on Twitter that they were a couple blocks away. I finished my meeting and drove right over only to see the driving away. Aaahhgggg!!!! So today was a few miles away in Long Beach and decided to try the roll. I was shocked to find that there was no line and only a few marines that had just picked up their orders. I was surprised to hear whether I wanted butter or mayo. I thought I all rolls came with mayo but I asked what was more popular. The gal mentioned that the butter was more popular so I had to try that one. I was thinking about adding the extra meat but I am glad I didn't, the roll was perfect although I wish it were a little bigger. The roll here comes on what looks like a giant buttered Texas toast, not the hoagie type roll I was imagining but the toast was really delicious and adds a lot of taste to the roll. My roll had plenty of meat and had a few big chunks that you can really bite into. It had some butter on the lobster but not so much that it was oily. Just perfect. I cant believe how good it was to taste this awesome explosion of deliciousness and I cant wait to get back to try the sandwich with mayo; you know for research. Next time I will also try the lobster bisque soup. The Marine that was eating next to me also had the soup and it really made me crave it but I had a big breakfast this morning and so I will have to chase down this truck again.

Some places will do one or 2 meats right but this place does it all. my husband go her frequently well...ugh ok almost every Friday because well nothing else compares. I've lived in CA for decades from NorCal to SoCal...and I know MX food pretty well. Not an expert nor a native but in terms of street tacos, they're exceptional. Service is also great in that they are quick on the phone and never get the order wrong. It's nice too that there's a convenience store next door for drinks or snacks or whatever else you may want to grab! Some outdoor seating but it is limited. You will wait about 10m or so for your order **because it is made fresh by hand** Prices are reasonable, please ensure to tip! Cheers

We took our tacos to go, although they do have a small dining space right next to the liquor store. The salsas had good flavor, and they give you all the condiments. They give you grilled onions, along with lemons, cucumbers, radishes, and cilantro/onion to go. The woman who helped us was nice and the service was quick, we didn't wait long at all.

We decided to go to the Whittier night market off of Whittier Boulevard. Not really a night…read moremarket, but pretty close. Located off of the frontage street, by a grassy street divider, this is a spot to enjoy the eats on the grass like a picnic. I opted this spot, which has a IG of cali tacos please, but no longer exists. This spot on yelp was referred to as sumo tacos. The workers were friendly and very helpful. The sumo fries was delicious. The asada itself was unique. It had a smokey flavor which separates itself from other spots. It appeared to be cooked on charcoal, but given it is a food truck, that would be hard to pull off. The sumo taco was something different. It's cheese melted like a tortilla which holds the asada. It was very heavy, greasy and difficult to enjoy. The chips was a plus where you can rip the taco and place it on the chip. If you want something heavy, this sumo is for you. A bit heavy to my liking, so you might want to try a regular taco or burrito. But then again, it's called sumo for a reason. Curious if this spot would experiment with gorditas, a crisp tortilla. I think their filing would knock this out of the park. I also wish they would advertise what drinks they have. Nonetheless, worth a try.
