Great little bakery! Come and try some good stuff! Everyone I know loves the sesame cookie, so try that! I like the brownie and the apricot cakes, they are not super sweet, but just right! Definitely give it a try!

I was excited to try this place for the first time with a friend, but unfortunately, the experience wasn't what I expected. The black sesame cookie and cinnamon roll were both incredibly hard, making them difficult to enjoy. They also tasted stale, as if they had been sitting out for a while rather than being freshly baked. The cafe has plenty of seating and a lovely outdoor space with flowers. Given the bakery's reputation, this was disappointing. However, the furikake croissant appears to be a customer favorite, so if I return, I'd be interested in giving that a try and hopefully having a better experience. /// Black Sesame Cookie, $4 Cinnamon Roll, $5

Ordered their bakery items a few times already. Their pastries are delicious and are all vegan. It makes me want to go back to try different things. So far I have tried their muffins, croissants, cinnamon rolls, brownies and cookies. All are really good! The shop itself is small but there're plenty of seatings at the courtyard, where you can sit relaxingly and enjoy your pastries and coffee.

One of my favorite bakeries! I always stop in when I'm in the area and have been a fan since she opened her original kiosk location. She makes my ultimate favorite sesame cookie of all time, not too sweet, nutty, and delicious. I've tried just about everything over the years and the sesame cookie and a croissant is an always buy! I love that they are on TGTG as it's such a huge deal. Love Bakers Bench so much! It's street parking only and a bit difficult, but definitely worth it every time I'm in the area.

Easy and plentiful street parking on at Sat morning at 10! As a first timer, it was a bit of a maze to find, but they have a lovely central communal outdoor space they share with the other shops that is dog friendly! There were so many pastries to choose from but I ordered the furikake croisaant since it came recommended by a friend and the tropical scone (coconut, passion fruit and papaya). The croissant was airy, although didn't have as distinct lamination as non-vegan croissant. I likes the umami savory flavor and the sesame is roasted which adds a fragrance and crunch. I did appreciate that the scone wasn't overly sweet, but its tropical-ness was super subtle and I don't think I wouldn't have guessed its flavor if I ate it blind. FYI, there is a 4% surcharge for paying with credit cards. And other reviews mentioned a rewards stamp card, but I wasn't offered one! :(

Established over a year ago, Bakers Bench is a sweet treat for yourself or to take someone special too and enjoy their delectable selection of pastries, kind and attentive customer service, and the triple threat... an aesthetically pleasing outdoor space to take in all that wonderfulness! On my visit tried 3 pastries: apple turnover, croissant, and a scone -- results:

I doubt that I ever become vegan. But I'm am willing to try vegan pastries as long as they're good. Bakers Bench has been around for some time since the Covid days. I remember visiting Far East Plaza where they were selling their baked goods in a kiosk next to Howlin Rays. Great to see some growth and BB moving into a storefront located in an interesting venue amongst craftsman quadruplex property with an extensive patio courtyard and gardens between buildings. BB is located in the back entry of Cassell's Hamburgers. So, I've been to BB a few times and always wanting to get wow'd. The owner and bakers here have some high street cred having come from some Michelin star restaurants. I haven't been wow'd to this day and recent been more like... Blahhh. My recent experience here, one of the items I had is a pain suisse which is similar to that of a croissant but a bit flatter with pastry cream and chocolate chips. The version here was a bit lackluster looking that didn't have the typical cross lamination. It's dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon. It was also missing maple cream and lacked chocolate chips. It's $7 and I'm expecting a product that's executed well (like at Republique or Friend's & Family). The one good thing I'd say here is that the pastry and cookies that I've had here are of very good quality. I could taste the good quality flour and butter they use. Not sure if I'll be back. I do have my go to bakeries I prefer. The service here is friendly and warm. Parking isn't too bad as the location is tucked within the West Chinatown area just south of Dodger Stadium on the west side of I-110 Fwy.

Wow!!! I can't wait to go back to Bakers Bench and try more pastries. The two that we got were delicious. It's hard to believe they're vegan too. The furikake croissant is delicious and so different than I expected. I loved how it was salty but light. The banana black sesame pastry was also delicious too. They even had a gf option! The courtyard where bakers bench is located is so cute. There's parking on the nearby streets and it can get quite busy. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating.

Such a hidden gem! Parking: I came on a Saturday around 10 AM and had no problem parking on alpine street. I can see why it might be harder on a weekday though. Yuzu Poppyseed Scone: this was solid. I do wish it was a bit softer though. Egg roll croissant: awesome. I would feet it again. The croissant itself was delicious. Focaccia sandwich: the bread was great and was balanced with the rest of the ingredients The staff was very helpful and patient with us as we had a lot of questions. Service was super speedy. There's no indoor seating, so it can get chilly outside. I'll be coming back to try their plain croissant!

Beware of parallel street parking, tolerable on the week days. Not too sure about weekend many parked cars might be residences near by. For reference; on Alpine St. 1 hour parking from 8am-6pm except Sundays. For Centennial St. Street sweeping (No Parking) is from 9-11am Thurs on one side and Friday on the other side. Cash preferred, when you pay with cash you pay the price tag of their pastries flat without additional tax. "CASH DISCOUNT- As an incentive to our customers we now offer a discount to pay with cash by providing a 4% immediate discount." Black Sesame Cookie -the texture wasn't my favorite. Outside did have a crisp and inside was chewy but overall it's pretty sticky almost like a cross of soft caramel and toffee.. Black sesame flavor shines through as there were whole sesame throughout the cookie. A little too sweet for my liking. Yuzu Poppy Seed Scone -perfect scone; crisp but not too dense, inside wasn't too dry. Yuzu flavor very prominent. Egg Roll Croissant -eggroll filling was just as you imagined it to taste like but inside a croissant. Furikake Croissant -fruikake flakes on the outside was great and you really taste it. But I'm not sure if fruikake should be baked in high temperatures it gave an aftertaste of burnt popcorn. Croissant texture was crispy outside and soft fluffy inside. Passion Fruit Danish -was my least favorite. Not enough passion fruit jam and danish was too crispy that it was crunchy.

The location is great to find a street parking. The store located in a small yard. Looks like a totally different ambiance in the neighborhood. Awesome selection for Vegan baked goods! Always friendly with the customers so keep going back :) I love the black sesame cookies since it's not that sweet but nutty. Generally their bakes goods are not too sweet or greasy. Perfect for small deserts or for simple meals. The croissant must be so fluffy and light. I didn't try it yet but I can tell by the other pastries. Texture is so nice.

    Hannah C.

I stopped by Baker's Bench and was so grateful for how helpful the employee was. She recommended the tomato danish and let me tell you--it was phenomenal. Flaky, buttery, and perfectly buttery with a savory tomato filling. You can tell everything here is baked with care and love. On top of the great pastry, the service made the experience stand out. It felt like they genuinely wanted me to enjoy the best of what they offer. I'll definitely be back to try more of their recommendations (and probably another tomato danish because...wow).

Stopped by this cute spot for a quick pick me up for a long day at work. Located on a residential street it's easy to miss. I was able to find it because of Yelp. You have to enter through the courtyard behind Heavy Water coffee. Their drink choices are limited to coffee, iced coffee, and some other type of drink. But there's plenty of pastries to choose from. The sitting area outside is so cute and truly makes you feel like you're not in downtown.

They only have a hose A/C in the corner that didn't do much to cool the place down. The food though was amazing! As 2 vegetarians and 1 vegan, we had never seen such an extensive plant based option with not only vegan cheeses but meat substitutes with protein! No wonder they have been ranked #1 for multiple years. The starter bread came in a brown bag and was soft and delicious, especially with the house pesto. You could really taste the basil but it didnt feel too oily. We got the calamari because none of us have ever seen a vegan one on a menu! It was breaded and fried and had a squishy center made of pea protein that I guess simulates the real one? It came with a marinara dipping sauce. I could obly have a few because they were fried and I felt like they were a bit too salty Next the pastas came out - the Pistachio pesto and the fusili with sausage. Both were delicious. The pesto sauce was the same one we had with the bread but the pasta had Pistachio chunks in it as well and generous amounts of pesto. The sausage was chewy and the sauce must've had either the same seasoning or chunks of it blended in because you could taste the same flavor in that as well! We had hopes of trying dessert but these 3 dishes were a perfect size for our party and we had been starving ourselves for most of the day for this (probably due to all the protein included in a usually carb only meal). I like that they use compostable containers though!! But yeah the rice is on the harder side especially as leftovers. But whatever, their main items are bomb and makes me not care about anything else. Service is quick! Note: it is not a sit down restaurant. You order (ahead) and park on the street and call them to let them know you're outside. They'll bring the food out. Reception isn't great outside fyi. I've been here 3 times and never last long enough to get a photo before digging in. There are two other vegan restaurants right next to it, same concept - order and pick up. Great for different options if one is craving Mexican from Cena or hot dogs from All franks.

I can't wait to come back to this place. It's absolutely adorable, the staff are so friendly, and…read morethe concept is brilliant. I went on a whole food vegan diet for 40 days as part of a cleanse and health journey. So my fiancé and I decided to come out here before a concert one night. He's been vegan for years and years, but I've never had that diet so it was hard for us to go out. We found this place and knew we had to go. We arrived about an hour before close, got sat immediately, and had a super sweet server (I wish I remembered her name). But I didn't realize that the menu items were all affirmations. As someone who has had a super tough year physically and emotionally, I've been really getting into meditation and manifesting and overall good vibes. So I thought going there and seeing that menu was absolutely a sign. It's fully vegan and whole food. And VAST. There was so much to choose from. I asked opinions on what to get. I think I ended up getting I Am Restored for my drink. Delish. Not sweet but very good. And then my partner and I got the I Am Glorious and the I Am Next Level to share. Everything was SO good. House made. Great flavor. And great presentation. My only wish was that is was more affordable (why does healthy yummy food have to be so expensive?!). We'd be going more often and we don't live close by. But it's worth it. Excited for our next trip back there! Side note - we also ordered delivery from them as well. The I Am Caring nachos (did notttt travel well.. get them in person). And the I Am Giving Margherita pizza. That was yummy. Recommend for vegans and non vegans alike!

I visited Cafe Gratitude for lunch during Dine LA Week and thought the $25 deal was a great value…read more You get to choose two dishes, both in full-size portions, plus a drink. I ended up getting so full that I took my second dish home! I absolutely loved the coconut drink, "I Am Chill." They were also happy to customize it with less ice, which I really appreciated. The "I Am Next Level" bowl was delicious, healthy, and very satisfying. My second dish, the "I Am Beaming" Pesto Alfredo Pasta, was a little too creamy for my taste, but it was still enjoyable. It was fairly noisy during lunch on Friday, and the service was decent but could have been a little more attentive. There were a few moments when I found myself wondering when the waiter would come back to my table. Overall, a great Dine LA value with delicious, healthy food and some creative drink options. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes!

They were both tasty. I think we preferred the Californian a little more. The Reuben just had a little too much sauerkraut for my preference. We also tried their potato salad and their guava Fresca. They were both good but the guava Fresca could have had a little more sweetness. They do have a few tables and stools along one side of the wall. Covered tables are also available outside. They do have one bathroom available for customers. Parking is free either in their small parking lot or along the streets.

The cashier was super patient and helpful which I appreciate a ton! The location is on the corner of a lil strip of businesses so a few parking spots which makes a difference. Inside was a small setup but again super cute Here's what we got: 1. The Smokey (10/10) - it's banging! I really wanted to try it specifically because the onion-jalapeño jam got me stuck... and it did not disappoint! 2. The brisket breakfast burrito (9/10) - I asked them to cut both in half since I was gonna share with someone in the streets haha I love burritos, I love vegan breakfast burritos so nom nom nom! 3. Speculoos brownie (10/10) - it's super El Niño so the brownie was hot and ready by the time I landed so it was gooey and delish af I will definitely be back when I can push out to HP to grab refrigerated meets and cheezes! Please come support a vegan business!!
