The sandwiches are amazing, such delicous bread, really good bread made on sight in their ovens, such quality ingredients, such tasty combinations of food. Usually the food is decent, however the last trip to BC was terrible. Don't ever order their $11 avocado toast. It was a dry stale piece of bread with 1/8 of an avocado. The poached egg was miniature and over cooked and the "micro greens" were really just wilted spring mix. There are plenty of good reasons this place is always packed. My favorite time to come here is lunch. With so many people waiting for a seat, I usually join my Mom or a girlfriend for a seat at the bar right in front of the creperie griddle because that's where all the magic happens. Pour me a glass of perrier or sauvignon blanc and let the entertainment begin...gazing at all the sultry desserts being made. So, in an effort to avoid ordering dessert first, I usually go with the soup/salad or salad/sandwich combo, but sometimes I am up for sharing both a large salad and a wood-fired margherita pizza. I love the soups, particularly the french onion or tomato & cheese...and there is always a soup of the day...helps me to defrost on a cold winter day. My absolute favorite salad is the Wine Country. This salad may take the top spot as my favorite salad in Hampton Roads--no kidding!!! I am not even usually a mixed greens type of girl, but they have converted me. This salad is tossed with grapes, pears, strawberries, parm cheese, and candied pecans drizzles with a raspberry vinaigrette...more like berry heaven that bursts with every bite. A wow, imagine me excited about something healthy--LOL. I will admit that I still definitely want to try the BBQ Chicken & Avocado Caesar, but I am too hooked on the Wine Country to go a stray. I will have to bring someone and convince them to get it so I can try it! So far, my favorite sandwich is the Chicken Guacamole served on Jalapeno Cheddar Bread. They offer a wide array of paninis, grinders, and sandwiches and are usually pretty reasonable on switching out a bread or a spread when I am feeling adventurous. So, now that you have watched the bartender drizzle chocolate and caramel syrups all over the brownie sundaes and smelled the toasted coconut of the Jamaican crepe, you can't leave here without getting dessert. You have been tempted and "tortured" through the whole meal and you deserve a sweet warm treat. If you just can't bare to stuff anything else in your mouth, don't worry, they have plenty of baked goodies and cakes for you to carry home. read more

Each time I look at the menu and I'm intrigued by all the delightful sounding items but the only words that come out of my mouth when ordering are "bruschetta boards, please, thank you" The apple brie is perfection. Bakers Crust is a chain & there is no ambiance to speak of... but they have a new menu that is definitely worth checking out. They've really stepped it up a notch. I've always enjoyed Bakers Crust for lunch b/c I like their soup & sandwich choices. But now I'm hooked on their salads & woodfired pizzas. My husband & I shared a full sized Hand Carved Turkey Salad. It was HUGE (enough for 3 people). It was loaded with great toppings- turkey, bacon, tomato, avocado, hard-boiled eggs, etc. We also split the Buffalo & Tomato pizza. I was pleasantly surprised by the thinness of the crust- almost like a true Italian pizza! Almost. And the sauce was ridiculously fresh (crushed tomatoes). So now my husband who used to refuse to go to Bakers Crust is even a fan! Bakers Crust is great for a quick, but tasty, lunch or dinner. The Flavors! In my mouth! I went here by chance for a Solo lunch before work. I was honestly hoping for brunch but it was 11:30. I sat myself at the bar seating right by the door so I could quietly read while enjoying eating alone. I had two mimosas anyway, both delicious & only $4 a piece which is decent for a non-brunch price. I ordered a lunch combo: a grilled portabella sandwich with the tomato & cheese soup. It came out very quickly. Let me just say, this soup could and possibly ought be the sole entree eaten, ever. It was creamy, and the flavors were amazing. It was like a nice, warm tomato bisque that they slowly melted blocks of expensive cheese into. I'll never be able to look Panera in the face again. My sandwich was pretty good, though decent comparatively. There was not as much portabella as I would have expected for a titled item, and too much uncooked baby spinach. The sauce and the cooked red peppers alongside the mozzarella were delicious. Overall it was an incredibly satisfying lunch. read more

Came in for lunch on Saturday while visiting for the weekend. It took awhile to get a seat due to the Shamrock Marathon (which is what I was in town for), but I was eventually able to eat at the bar. Nice Atmosphere, very inviting. Staff was friendly. Restaurant clean and in order. When I ordered my food, it was another story. I requested no mushrooms and when he repeated the order he repeated no mushrooms. My food comes, mushrooms. He then proceeded to tell me that I did not say no mushrooms and next time I need to reiterate and make sure he repeats it back to me. Um, take responsibility. Not my problem you or your kitchen made a mistake. I HATE mushrooms, I know what I said and so did my bf. Very unprofessional to put it on me that he was wrong. Worst experience today, Sunday, October 2, 2016 and it all started with John Stein (we believe that is the owner's name). Poor service by our server, not only our table, but the other tables in her section, so much so that one couple got up and left. Her excuse? The owner had her trapped at his table. What, I the paying customer, doesn't matter? So my wife calls the restaurant and speaks with the manager, Jennifer, who admitted that the server was trapped at the "king's table" and he was asking her lots of questions. So either this guy doesn't care about his patrons or he is stupid. Either way we will never go back and it's a shame..had been going quite a bit, using them for business meetings, recommending the place to others...My wife even asked to have the owner call her, but we're sure he won't be able to come down from his "ivory tower" to grace his peasants with a call. read more

We would have given bakers crust five stars. The food at bakers crust is very delicious. However, we had a less then average experience because of there happy hour menu is only good at the bar . We asked to speak with the manager and the manager said that she agreed with us that it is very inconvenient to sit at the bar with very young children. So , the manager took very good care of us and excused bc for any inconvenience we may have had . In conclusion the management at bc fixed the issue and we lefted bc with satisfaction . read more

My fiancé went today to have lunch/dinner. Apparently they are renovating but they don't have any kind of signs up letting you know that, or if they did I didn't see it. You have to walk in a side door that is more of an exit. There was no hostess to greet us so we just kind of kept walking in until someone acknowledged us. That's the only reason I gave them 4 stars because the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I got the wood fired goat cheese app and my fiancé, the chips. My god. I could swim in that goat cheese, As if I didn't love goat cheese enough! The chips were seasoned with something absolutely delicious. Main course, I got the sweet potato biscuit with fried chicken. I wish the biscuit had been a little warmer but it was delicious. I switched my chips for fries, stick with the chips for sure. My fiancé got a pizza and he said it was the best he'd had in VA Beach which is really saying something! For dessert we got the cookie skillet and it was the bomb.com. So good! I will definitely be coming back after renovations are done to see the upgrades! Went back after renovations with my friend. Service is horrible. We have eaten here before and it was pretty good. That's why I'm giving it two stars. Today we had the Caesar salad and pork belly pizza. The salad was so over salty and I love salt. Not good. The pizza was just terrible. The pork was flavorless, the pizza was under seasoned, and there was no hint of pepper flakes. The ricotta was flavorless also. Our waitress also never took the time to check on us until we appeared done for awhile. This was our first experience with pizza there and what a disappointment.
