Food wasn't good at all. In fact it was pretty gross. Had the burger melt and fries. The fries almost will do tasted like Wendy's. The patty of the burger was a frozen one that didn't get cooked all the way. The onions on it were almost as thick as the patty. My sister got the grilled chicken triple decker. Definitely not needed to be a triple decker. She barely are it. Also, everything tasted like it had been injected with salt. Side note...the manager got called over to the table behind us. The man there complained about his burger and the manager asked if he read the menu before he ordered it. The manager didn't have a rude tone but definitely inappropriate. read more

considering the selection in the area, and this place is 24 hrs, i like! :o) and the waitress was super awesome! :o) they are not the cheapest place, i was struggling to find a full meal under $8. Their specials were only $.50 less than the regular meals. the food was pretty decent, diner fare. i was kind of surprised and impressed with their seafood trio. i would've added more salt, but that's easy enough to remedy. would definitely go again, more specifically late at nite. i'm sure there are more bargains to be had on their breakfast menu. :o) read more

Pros - relatively cheap, easy to get to, decent parking, good desserts (if you believe what others have told me) Cons - nothing exciting on the menu, rude staff, incompetent server Ate here tonight - 4 adults and 3 kids. Men both ordered prime rib. Ladies both ordered the "Baker's Chicken". One kid got an egg and bacon sandwich off the breakfast menu, the other two got chicken corn soup and tossed salads. The "Baker's Chicken" was good. A good sized, nicely seasoned chicken breast topped with broccoli, crab meat, and a Swiss cheese sauce. It was about 10-11 dollars and I'd get it again. The men's prime rib was terrible. The server entered the wrong order and brought out BBQ ribs - which looked like a big dark brown loaf of something with sauce squirted on top. When they told the server that it wasn't what they ordered, she apologized and said she accidentally pushed the wrong button because they're side by side. She removed the brown thing and went to get the other food. It took forever, the rest of us were eating so our food didn't get cold. She came out at one point and said something like "because it's coming out late I told the cook to make it really well done". If I remember correctly the men ordered it much less than well done. For God's sake . . . we're talking about prime rib. It's best served still mooing, not "very well done". It came to the table about as dark brown as the "loaf" of ribs that she had brought out. To quote my husband, it was "God awful - like choking down a piece of shoe leather". During the wait there wasn't any offer of rolls or anything to keep their hunger at bay. They didn't even offer to comp their entrees. So they paid just under 15 bucks for garbage that you wouldn't feed a dog. By the time they ate the rest of us were almost done and at least one of the kids was restless and running/crawling all over the place. For a PA diner, this was the worse chicken corn soup I have ever seen. It was mostly broth and it was really thin - not like the really good stuff that has a thicker base. Plus, it really didn't taste that good. Several of us ordered broccoli as a side. It tasted, to quote one of our diners, like "watery green stuff". Even my kids wouldn't touch it and they love love love broccoli. One kid tried to eat the cheese whiz type of topping that came on mine - but didn't finish it. When a toddler doesn't eat the cheese sauce you know there's something not quite right. The seafood bisque I had a nice flavor but it was ruined by the inclusion of artificial krab. Would it have killed them to toss in some real crab meat or a few little salad shrimp? Would I eat there again? Maybe. I'd get the Baker's Chicken (or whatever it's called) and have dessert - I hear they have really good dessert. The coffee also smelled really good when we came in the door and my husband said it also tasted good. So 1 star for service, 4 stars for the chicken, 0 stars for the prime rib, 4 stars for location, 1 star for the chicken corn soup, 2 stars for the seafood bisque, and 5 stars for the desserts that people say are sooooo good (that I honestly haven't tried). read more

Was there this evening after my granddaughters chorus concert, to celebrate and she got breakfast for diner, there was a black hair in her food, the waitress was very nice about it, she gave us the bill and said the mgr on duty said she was not to discount our ticket, the mgr came over and said is everything ok, I said yes but I am going to put a bad review on line, then she grabbed the ticket from my hand and said let me look at it, she was not going to do nothing, all she did was make excuses that it couldn't of been one of her cooks hairs. We were on a road trip from Lock Haven to D.C. when we stopped at this diner for dinner. We were ushered to a booth in the corner, and ordered our meals. Out of our party of four, we ordered a chicken salad, gyro sandwich with fries, a Caesar salad, and the Italian trio with manicotti, stuffed shells, and ravioli. Our food was brought to us quite slowly, considering how un-crowded it was in the dining area. The chicken salad was okay, and the tomato unripe. The Caesar salad was another "okay", but happened to only have dressing on one side... The gyro sandwich was pretty good, and the fries considerably warm and tasty. The Italian trio was INCREDIBLY hot, and cooked only on one side. The sauce was sweet. Overall, our experience at Baker's was okay, not really an amazing place. Low quality. Salad was skimpy and dressing was warm. Steak was a great cut by accident, ordered sirloin but got New York Strip. Not seasoned before cooking, vegetables are microwaved and cold. Cold "heat and eat" rolls had real butter hidden on the bottom of basket and it didn't melt. Found it after dinner. Baked potato had mystery margarine and the sour cream came in a tube. No chives. When it comes to diners, there are basically two kinds: restaurants that masquerade as diners (Silver Diner comes to mind), and, well, regular diners. Baker's definitely falls into the second category with an abundance of burnt coffee, burnt bread, and burnt breakfast meats, but meals aren't a total loss if you're sure to ask your server to be completely candid about which of their desserts are the freshest the day you happen to be dining there. I don't know anything about the political machinations of Dillsburg, PA, but I really think that if another diner were to open up on US 15, in proximity to Baker's, all they'd have to do to gain lots of market share very quickly is make sure that they didn't serve burnt food, at least not too much of it. read more

Driven by this place a million times on route 15, but Sunday night was the first time we stopped in. 2 fresh blueberry pancakes the size of your plate - $3.99 1 veggie omelet with home fries and toast - $5 and change The food came out quickly and tasted just like breakfast diner food should they had a pretty decent pie and cake list so we took 2 to go: peanut butter chocolate cake - the peanut butter was yummy but the chocolate cake was dry. bummer key lime pie - this is really the first time i tried it so i don' t know. it was better than i thought, but the crust was not good at all. pies and cakes were around $3 each. I've been here several times and I've always been a little disappointed. I usually stop in if I'm in the area and craving diner food but even by diner standards the food is just OK. There's a pretty expansive menu but I wouldn't order from the entree selections. Breakfast or desserts are usually decent. Service here can be hit or miss and it usually depends on how crowded it is at the time. During the busy hours it often seems a little understaffed. Overall it's not a bad place. My wife and I eat there a lot on Fridays when we work together in Dillsburg. We work on the ambulance and the staff is always very accommodating if we get called out. It is nice that they are open around the clock because we can always come back later to settle the bill and pick up our food. Great selection of diner fare. Breakfasts are very good too. Somehow this awful restaurant managed to ruin the most simplest of breakfast foods: eggs and toast. The scrambled eggs were overcooked and dry, while the toast looked like it had been pulled straight out of the fiery pits of Mount Doom, blackened to a charred crisp. I guess I should have expected a bad experience when it took 10 minutes just to get a cup of bland, diluted coffee. Needless to say I will never dine again in this wayward restaurant. My husband and I stopped in our way through town. There was no sign saying Wait to be Seated. There was no one at the stand which was set back from the door so we didn't even recognize it. No one greeted us so we took the first table. A few minutes a hostess walked over and said, "did you seat yourself?" Uh, yeah. I apologized and she said a bit huffily, "it's okay, but next time wait over here to be seated." Not a problem as we won't be back. I was going to give it 3 stars based on our dining-in experience: we stopped here on the way home from a Hershey sports tournament and were starving -- so expectations were pretty low. Despite all the cars outside, we were seated fairly quickly - it looks like they have a lot of room. The waitress was friendly and helpful, and the food came out fairly quickly. My son said he liked his hamburger, which l thought looked dry. I happen to like liver so I ordered it off the menu. It came out just like your mom used to make it -- tough, lacking seasoning and slathered in gravy and onions to try to make up for it. If your cook/chef doesn't like making something, and it sure seemed like there was a lot of disdain for liver based on that plate, you should take it off the menu. What brought it down to a 1 star, however, was the Napolean cake that my son ordered to go. When we got home, he opened it up, took one bite, then asked his dad, "Is that mold?" YES. YES, IT WAS MOLD. I see that one of the previous reviewers said it had failed a food/health inspection, and I now know why I should check Yelp before ever stepping into an unknown restaurant. read more

I've passed by Baker's every weekend for almost four years, and never went until recently. Overall? It's the quintessential diner, complete with a menu burdened with so many choices and options that it borders on overload. The food's what you expect from a diner: decent food with large portions. My wife and I both got the patty melt, and it was pretty much flawless. Cooked well, served right. We also got a side of Baker's Fries (basically cheeseless poutine) that were fairly tasty. First impressions were decent enough that I'll definitely stop by again the next time I pass through Dillsburg. Only disappointment? Our food came with a side of coleslaw served in a teeny lil' condiment cup... and, uh, I wanted more. A lot more! I'm very picky when it comes to coleslaw, but Baker's hit all the right notes. Fast service, friendly wait staff, and the food is right on par with what you'd expect for a highway diner, nothing fancy or especially gourmet, but the food typically hits the spot. I've been here a handful of times since ownership last changed. I would say the decor is great, service pretty good, food is generally A-OK. It's what one would expect from a typical diner. They have a vast menu. Really the best thing I've had there so far has been the buffalo chicken salad. This is a whole meal, complete with very spicey chicken on a huge salad bowl. If you like spicey food, and are hankering for a salad, this is a must try. The desserts looked good, but I don't really remember ordering anything for dessert there. Perhaps nothing really struck me as a "you gotta have this, even if you're already stuffed" dessert. Overall, the prices were fair, with few real bargain specials, nor many very pricey entrees. Servers seemed confused as to what they were supposed to be doing. Asked for extra crispy bacon, they burnt one side of the French toast instead, left the other side somehow very soggy, and forgot about the bacon. Pancakes were rubbery. Waited on our server to get us our check for about 20 minutes. Oh, and a black bug crawled out from under the fridge where they display their desserts. Lived in the area for 6 years now and made our first trip to Bakers for breakfast on Sunday. The place has recently been remodeled and they did a really nice job of it. Full service diner food and entrees 24/7 is a tough business endeavor, but they seem to do it nicely. I've had very mixed results at Baker's - I've had a couple excellent meals and some that were, eh. I last visited about two years ago and vowed not to go back after a poor meal in the cramped, noisy, older part of the diner. But I visited recently with a friend who really wanted to go. The place was pretty empty and we got sat in the front at a window. I had a cheeseburger, coffee and added fries and coleslaw for $3.49. There were few fries, the person who delivered our food - not our server - forgot the coleslaw and I had to wait for ketchup. My coleslaw was delivered in a tiny plastic cup about the size of a ketchup container at McDonald's. My burger was ok but wasn't hot and there was mayonnaise on the bun which I didn't ask for. I was surprised that the bill was nearly $17. My friend had some sort of hamburger steak that she said was good. She also got a slice of cheesecake and a beverage. Her bill was more than $26 which seemed outrageous. I've had far better food that was hotter and tasted better and in friendlier settings. I won't be going back for a long while. read more

I've only been to Baker's Diner once, but it sure was a nice evening! I went with two of my friends at Messiah College (since everyone at Messiah seems to go here!) on a Friday "night" (we were there from 1am-6am talking!) and it was great. The waitresses were really sweet and understanding, and didn't bother to kick us out! I love that this place is open 24/7! The quality of the food was not that great. My pancakes were served with a sicky sweet strawberry syrup in excess, and the bacon and homefries were not that great either. I also got a chocolate chip cookie around 4:30am, but it tasted more like an Italian butter cookie with a few chocolate chips thrown on it (not even baked in) so that was unfortunate! I drive by this place about four times a year, but this is the first time I stopped. I was actually aiming for Wendy's but my wife talked me into Baker's. I'm glad she did. The place looks nice and inviting from the outside, inside is the same. Bathrooms were clean & stocked. We were there mid-day so it was quite. Everything went well, the server was friendly and helpful; she saved us money by telling me the best way to order the burger & fries I wanted, instead of me trying to customize one of the fancy burgers on the menu. We also ordered soup and a turkey wrap. The food was decent and priced fairly. They don't serve Coke (Is Pepsi okay?) - I'll have water with lemon please. The only negative was the cold & unwelcoming hostess/cashier. I would stop again, - even when approaching from the northbound side (cross-traffic is a problem). read more
