I came here to sample some baklava and was utterly disappointed. All of the baklava looks pale and under-cooked, as well as dry. Thankfully I only ordered a couple of pieces to eat there and did not spend more money on a box to-go. I got kataifi, which was exceedingly dry and missing any trace of syrup. Baklava Factory is tucked away in a little strip mall on Colorado across the street from Ralph's. The desserts here are beautiful. The lady is very kind and takes time explaining what all of these wonderful, exotic sweets are. The baklava is the best you can get. The walnut baklava is delicious! The only complaint I have is that it's REALLY buttery. I'm not really a fan of butter - so it was a little overwhelming to see (and feel) the butter dripping down after I bit it. But oh my goodness, it was good! Everything I got was pretty good, but knowing how good baklava can be really puts Baklava Factory at a disadvantage. Used a Groupon today for the 5 lb box. I was worried about using a Groupon based on some of the other reviews, but the girl who worked there was really nice, there were at least five types that I could pick from and they were really fresh. I got the regular walnut baklava, cashew fingers and another one that looks like spring rolls. When she showed me the size of the tray, I thought what the hell was I thinking buying a 5 pound box and how can I possibly eat that much baklava and it better be good because I'll be eating it for two weeks. First things first, I am not someone who is well versed in what proper or authentic baklava should taste or feel like but I know the few times I have had it were at Greek festivals so I'm basing my idea of "good" baklava on those experiences I LOVE BAKLAVA as any sane person does and upon moving here and seeing a groupon for this place I was overjoyed. Unfortunately I was a little underwhelmed, maybe is was the anticipation of it or my glorified memories of baklavas past but either way it fell short. For me it's a few things that put me off 1. the baklava wasn't moist. I know it's not suppose to be mush but it was to Crispy rather than flakey and tastes kinda burnt 2. the syrup seemed watery and oily 3. also it didn't seem that fresh side note I ordered the walnut baklava and the rolled up one drizzled with chocolate. the selection was impressive but it's the quality that is lacking for me, but then again maybe idk what real baklava is suppose to taste like in its traditional sense. regardless I was still unimpressed read more

Stopped in and picked-up a mid-sized tray for a party. Friendly staff explained the filling in each of the different kinds of baklava and even allowed us to try a few samples. Very impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of the store. Will definitely be back when my sweet tooth hits. On a side note, they also have use the Five-Star program which the person behind the counter entered for me since I didn't have my key chain on me when I visited. As for the taste of the tray of the various baklava, let's just say there was not a single piece left over and everyone complimented on the freshness and wonderful taste of the different baklava on the tray. DELISH!! As you can see from my other reviews, I have a HUGE SWEET TOOTH (its bigger than YOURS!). Thus I travel for miles to please my sugar cravings..... I wasn't a huge baklava fan at first, but the quality and freshness of the baklava here have made me a convert. Sweet without being cloying, delightfully crispy, but soaked in sugar syrup at the right spots, this place really hits my sweet tooth. I don't have much of one, but my roommate has an enormous yen for all things sweet, and this places pleases both of us immensely. The ladies behind the counter are always genial and courteous. I can't say that I have a discriminating palate when it comes to baklava. For me, you'd have to mess up pretty badly to ruin baklava. That being said, I liked the BFFP. I stopped here after going to Zankou Chicken. I got a sampler to go. Nothing fancy or OMG!, with the exception of the almond-thingie, sweet thingie (I really have got learn some names here!) If you need a baklava fix, it'll do. If you need something for a discriminating palate, you might want to look elsewhere. Overall, average on the taste, high marks for friendliness. I'm going to admit something I don't even like admitting to myself: I came in here after I saw an episode of the Kardashian's, and figured it couldn't be bad. Ok, there, I said it. Now I need therapy... The lady behind the counter was very friendly, and stood proudly behind the generous display of fresh baklava. There are many styles and flavors to choose from so it's easy to get yourself a good variety. I got a medium box that easily fits about 10-12 pieces for $8. The almond, and chocolate were very tasty. I got myself a good helping so I won't be back for a while. Also, since we stayed to drink our coffee she threw in two extra pieces of the almond variety! Thanks, Lady! Love the Baklava Factory and love that 3 or 4 times now there have been half off groupons for the 1 and 2 pound boxes. The ingress/egress is a little tricky if you've never been in, as it lies in a strip mall with a more visible Zankou but also immediately adjacent to a gas station with no in-between access, and a narrow driveway that might be difficult to get out of if crappy drivers are making wide turns to get in, but there's usually sufficient parking. My favorites are the little finger roll baklavas drizzled in chocolate, although there's one next to it that may be drizzled in something like caramel that comes as a close second. for a few of them they'll also offer to sprinkle pistachio powder which adds rather nicely to the flavor/texture. the people who work there seem friendly and can be helpful although this one time the lady working the counter didn't know how to redeem my groupon and seemed skeptical as to what it was, but the other two times i went with groupons it went along seamlessly. a few armenians whom i work with have indicated that the chocolate and stuff makes it a sort of americanized baklava, but oh well, i guess i'm americanized (which i am, actually), and i like chocolate and especially if you're new to this kind of stuff the chocolate especially makes it more palatable to folks like me, although i can eat every kind of baklava, like a champ. read more

I have no idea what to make of this place. Each time I get the same thing: the plain baklava. Half the time it's moist and syrupy and full of yumminess. The other half it's dry and hard to swallow. What the heck? I don't know! It's a hit or miss thing obviously. So I don't know whether to recommend it or not. If you get it good, you get it reeeeeeally good. If you don't, well, I guess you waste a buck. Not a fiasco to be sure but... Go if you want. Don't know what to tell you. It's not all that risky given how cheap it is. Hopefully you'll luck out. Delicious. Fresh and slightly sweet. They have pistachio, almond, cashew, and cream for those of us who can't eat walnuts. $12 per pound. The lady behind the counter was pleasant, but not very informative. Best to select baklava by the type of nut you like. The white baklava with pistachios and rose water is lovely. Only drawback is that the server put the baklava on a styrofoam tray then wrapped it in deli plastic. Would have preferred a box with a lid. Parking is horrible if not impossible during the weekend. Wow....this is by far the best Baklava I have ever tasted. They take such care in prepping their delicacy. They're pretty, look perfectly hand rolled and taste amazing, These baklava are made with simple syrup as opposed to honey. I personally enjoy the simple syrup version, which I understand is the Armenian recipe. They have pistachio, almond, walnut and more. I will make this a regular stop from now on. I'd give it a higher rating if they were more consistent. I use to in every time I stop at Zankou cause it's in the same strip mall. This review is for the baklava, not the gelato. I've tried all their baklava flavors. Sometimes they are perfectly crisp, flaky, lightly sweet, and fresh tasting, a wonderfully balanced dessert. Other times they are chewy, dripping with sugar syrup and taste like stale nuts from the back of your cupboard. I like that I can get a couple pieces or a whole box, and the location (great for picking up dessert when you are grabbing family dinner at Zankou), but their inconsistent quality has me going back less and less often. Careful buying the prepackaged candies in the bakery case (like nougats and turkish delights), because again, they can be fresh and soft, or hard and flavorless. And rather expensive for prepackaged sweets that I can get at the Armenian market just up the street. read more

Tasty treats, affordable and good service! My neighbor is a frequent visitor of this bakery and hands out baked goods from here during the holidays every year. I finally decided to walk in and glad I did. The place is clean and well kept. In addition to baklava, there are other treats like cake. There are prepackaged goods you can buy or customize your own tray. Try a little bit of everything! I happen to walk in on a day while the owner was there and he made me feel very welcome. Although there is free parking on site, it does get crowded since this shop is in a retailer center with another busy restaurant but there is usually no problem finding a spot in the underground lot. read more
