Located in the same plaza 3 shops down. Parking in this plaza may look scarce, but there's additional parking in the back. Upon walking in we were greeted and the associate was very friendly. She answered all my questions in regards to the baklava she had available. You purchase the baklava by weight. A pound of baklava was $11.99 I believe. They are very lightweight and airy so it takes a loooot to total the pound lol. I selected the almond, walnut, chocolate drizzled & traditional baklava squares. I had a small tray (4x6 in tray) full of treats & only paid $7.50! All in all this place was great! Only reason why I docked a star is because the walnut baklava was a little oily. Came in today to get my usual baklava kick. I've been in Glendale for about 30 years and have been coming to this place for at least the last 8-10 years with absolutely no issues. It was between 2:00-2:30 pm (Sunday Feb. 3). The owners, management and the usual employees know me. I come in here at least once a week. Today was different. The older lady/manager was busy sweeping the store and I greeted her because she's the one that usually helps me. Since she was busy, a younger lady (fake blond, long hair) helped me instead. I got my usual sized tray and began telling her what I wanted. I asked for a specific baklava that was on a displayed tray in the very front. Mind you I was getting 4-5 pieces of that type, not just one. Regardless, I pointed to the tray I wanted my pieces from. Instead, she goes to a side cart and starts getting them from there. I didn't mind at first but when she was putting them in my tray, they didn't look as "fresh" and were falling apart. So I asked if they were the same and she replied "yes". I wasn't pleased with them and told her "they didn't look as good/fresh as the ones on the tray that I POINTED to. She rudely simply said "is there anything else you'd like?" I ignored it and didn't want to make a big deal as there were others waiting in line behind me. She then rang me up and told me the total (was like $22). I simply asked if it wasn't like $13 as it said on the read out when she weighed them. She laughed and said, "excuse me, I said $22" with an attitude. I was beyond furious and told her to give me my money back. I don't need an attitude from an employee. I then told her out loud that when a customer asks for a specific item(s) you make sure to give him/her what they want and walked out! If you don't have any customer service skills, don't work here! That's right, in Glendale there is a factory that is filled with nothing but these delicious treats. Although this place is not as big as a factory, it's more like a big bakery, but I think that Baklava Factory is a cool sounding name. This place is kind of hard to find, it is located in the back of a small shopping center that you can not see from the street. Once inside I could not believe all the different varieties of Baklava they had, they have at least fifteen different types. They have almond Baklava, pistachio, walnut, coconut, Baklava that is drizzled with chocolate, covered in syrup, Baklava that is crunchy, soft, flaky, and even Baklava that is dipped in rose water. But Baklava is not the only treats that this place offers, they also have a separate case filled with cookies. They have almond cookies, pistachio cookies, cashew cups, coconut cookies, sesame crisps, etc. They also serve gelato. With all those choices there was no way to try just one or two types of Baklava so my girlfriend and I decided to just get a container full of all different types. Before we started picking out our treats the lady behind the counter just started handing us whole samples of their Baklava and cookies. We ended up trying at least half of their Baklava flavors and about four different cookies before we even bought anything. We ended up leaving with 8 different types of Baklava, my favorites were the almond, coconut, birds nest (flaky dough with pistachios on top), and the Baklava that was dipped in rose water. The Baklava here is the best I have tried from any shop, it is almost as good as home made Baklava (nothing is better then homemade Baklava). This place is really inexpensive, all of our Baklava cost only around eight dollars, and if you figure all the samples we got I think that we got a whole lot for real cheap. I absolutely love this place, it is the Sprinkles of Baklava shops. She ended up helping a customer behind me first even though they politely said they could wait for her to wait on me first. Okay, who the hell knew there were so many varieties of baklava??? It's hard for me to review Baklava Factory (Hereafter referred to as BF) for the simple reason that I am not a huge fan of baklava. It tends to be way too sweet for my tastes, kind of like Britney Spears circa 2000. Super sweet but not quite right. You know what I mean? It's like paper drenched in honey. Ready to have a break down and shave its head any minute. Some of the baklava at BF was of the Britney Spears variety. For instance, I was not a fan of the pistachio or the walnut baklava. They both seemed like they were made out of way too much filo dough drowned in honey or syrup - when all I really wanted was more nuts (story of my life.) But then I tasted a cashew variety (I think it was called a cashew rose?) and HOLY BF - it was AMAZING. No joke. Absolutely delicious. I could have eaten ten of them. I also quite enjoyed the almond variety. I am super sad that I didn't pick up any of the cream filled ones... That will definitely be my next order of business at BF. Also I purchased 2 flavors of gelato from the freezer section. They are prepackaged cartons (not fresh) but they were extremely unique and delicious! First I tried the Ashta flavor (rose water.) It is a creamy, lightly floral concoction that totally made my day. I also had the pistachio, one of my all time favorite flavors. It's important to note that it tastes nothing like the pistachio you know and love. It is also important to note that it is DELIGHTFUL. It is slightly nutty, extremely creamy, and super floral (the ingredients listed both rose water and orange blossom.) So needless to say, I'll be back to BF for more. I really hate my friend-J! She introduced me to this place after a satisfying, garlic filled dinner at Zankou. I'm not a sweets kind of a girl, opting for fruits instead of a piece of chocolate cake, but Baklava Factory has made a new person out of me (definitely a fattier version) I will not lie to you, because I'm just not good at it and I won't mince words. Be wary when you venture into this place because the taste of a baklava from here will change your life. Change meaning, what kind of baklava crap have I been eating prior to Baklava Factory? It's comparable to eating a burger at Mcdonald's and a burger at In-N-Out. The difference is remarkable. The freshness is undeniable. The longing for it now is indescribable. They have a variety of baklavas, and I nonchalantly chose the pistachio one. They sell by the pounds, which could get quite costly. With the first bite, I was sold. The pistachio baklava was not oozing with sweetness but has a satisfying semi-sweetness to it's buttery flaky skin. You could literally peel the layers of buttery flake and savor each one as they melt in your nouth in a heavenly burst of flavor. WOW! The inside was generously stuffed with pistachio dipped in their own specialized honey that I could only imagine they probably scooped from a tree in heaven. There are also so-so regular pastries, but not really worthy of mentioning, as well as boxed Turkish Delight- which is locally made by another company and very good. The service is wildly inconsistent. There are no samples, as most of their customers seem to already have a broad knowledge of what they want. I like that the fact that for $20.00 I can get a pre-selected tray of delights and people can eat them like the little, honey laced finger foods that they are.
