turmeric and dill fish // ig: @nigirigirlsforever

Really excellent food. Their banh xèo is crispy and filled with delicious treasures. I was a huge fan of their crab roll, too. Turmeric and dill fish prepared tableside was awesome. Their banh beo was good, but slightly more chewy/gummy than I'm used to - I would try something else next time. All that food ran us $75 before tip, and we took home leftovers!! Ambiance is modest and casual, with only a couple people working in the restaurant so expect a slower but no less friendly and attentive meal. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu. Love having a place like this in the valley where I know I can get some good banh xèo and unique Viet dishes apart from pho.

This place is legit! I'd say best in SFV & Westside. Wait wait, KTown pho's better b/c their pho broth & meats are bomb and I love their combo springrolls...4seasons. Anyway, other than those two items, Khuu is better in all aspects. Chef's seasoning is top notch. We've been here twice, yesterday & about a year ago, both times after visiting a friend in Encino, both times stellar. We've had the eggrolls, springrolls, Banh Xeo, pho, bun cha. I get what everyone says about the older gentleman (I think it's Chef's brother/owner). He didn't really bother us. Attitude is a bit off-putting, but we're here for the food not idle chatter w/the owner. Yesterday, our server was another gentleman...mild mannered and sweet. I'm actually eating some leftovers now and just exclaimed, "her seasoning is spot on!"

My friends love this place and we ordered it for take out last night, and wow it was so delicious. Portion sizes are great, and the vermicelli bowl is DELICIOUS. The pork is so tender and is cooked really well, and their eggrolls are so unique in the sense that the skin isn't your standard skin that comes with most Vietnamese eggrolls. I also tried my friend's wonton soup, and I can tell they make their wontons in house. The egg noodles in his dish were also perfectly cooked and al dente.

I can't believe it's been so long since I last visited Khuu Bistro, but I am SO glad I went back twice in one week! This great Vietnamese spot may be tucked away in a little corner strip mall next to a laundromat and 7-11, but it's absolutely worth the hunt. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's a busy area, but once you find a spot, you're in for a treat. The best part about Khuu Bistro is that everything is made to order, which means the food is always fresh and flavorful. Our family's goto is the beef or pork vermicelli with egg rolls it is so tasty and light. It's the perfect balance of noodles, lettuce, cucumbers, and crispy egg rolls. We will be back soon! Everything here is delicious.

Cozy. Authentic. Family owned. Fresh. Been wanting to try this place out because for the life of me, I cannot find a place service Banh Xeo in the valley and this place does! It was fresh and tasty!! My boyfriend got their rare steak pho and he was pleasantly surprised by the "clean" taste and not MSG enhanced. Definitely will try their other dishes which offer a variety of not your typical Vietnamese dishes. I will say service can be a bit of a wait so be patient because there is only one cook, 1 server, and 1 cashier.. Honestly didn't mind taking our time and waiting because it was worth it.

Saturday night we came by after a real intense workout and we were prepared to EAT! The man working there recommended us several dishes, and we ordered a few more, despite his objections that we are ordering too much food--I assured him that I am quite capable of finishing what normally requires four people . We ordered the crab appetizer, fried egg rolls, grilled pork and shrimp vermicelli, the glutinous rice dumplings, and the meat in fish sauce. I love that each time we dine at Khuu, there are so many interesting flavors and the menu features different regions geographically of what dishes are special. There are heaps and heaps of lettuce leaves and all sorts of toppings for the meat, I love that even though the meat is abundant that the balance is maintained between the vermicelli, meat, and veggies. We left completely stuffed but refreshed and refueled! In terms of price, our bill came out to around $75 which I found to be quite reasonable!

Authentic place in the valley to get pho. It might actually be the best pho I've had in the valley!! The broth is so flavorful and tasty. I got the brisket and flank steak pho. It comes with all the toppings and sauces you need. The price is really reasonable, $13.75. I got an order of fresh rolls too with shrimp and they were delicious, it came with a side of peanut dipping sauce. Great spot! Will for sure be my new go to for Vietnamese food.

I had their Phnom Penh Noodle soup. Unfortunately, something was off and it gave me diarrhea which was a shame since it was a dish that had really interesting ingredients. Their seafood papaya salad was superb! They're understaffed and apologized. I can't sing them for that and they were so nice about it. The restaurant itself had some really cool elements like the exterior and the entrance but the restaurant itself was kinda like a dive bar. It's go again but not get that noodle dish unless I wanted to drop weight.

I've been here twice and both times have been amazing. The owners are super nice and urged us to try something different than the typical pho and we ended up trying the crab rolls and steamed rice cake (in addition to the Pho and Bun Bo Hue we initially came here for). All the dishes were flavorful, cooked well, reasonably priced, and spectacular. I would highly recommend you try this place if you are in the area.

I'm baaaaack with an update to the update to let everyone know THEY HAVE BUN BO HUE! Finallyyyyyy!! I've been waiting for the past two years for auntie to add it onto the menu and it was well worth the wait. It's my favorite BBH so far. Super fragrant, a deep and complicated broth and the tastiest blood cubes I've had! Usually I just tolerate them and eat them bc I'm anemic but this one actually tastes good!! I come with updated menu pictures and a photo of that beautiful BBH. Just another reason for me to come here. Like I needed one!

However, cut to today where the prices have significantly increased - for the vibe and place - it's not worth it anymore. Also, seeing firsthand the owners seem less friendly and seemingly more money minded, I feel they take their customers for granted knowing there will be demand regardless of how they are or what they charge; this does not sit well with me. Given there has been growth of vegan-vegetarian restaurants, I would support other and newer restaurants instead.

She's been coming here since before they upgraded the space, and from what I understand it's run by brothers. The family is really nice, and it definitely has that local neighborhood spot feel. The main reason she brought me was for their **bún riêu**, but I have to be honest -- it didn't really taste like bún riêu to me. It was still good, but the broth had more of a tomato-y, clearer base and felt like its own soup rather than a true bún riêu. I was also surprised they didn't have **shrimp paste** available for it, which felt kind of odd. They do have **bánh bèo** and some other Vietnamese dishes, which I thought was cool, and overall everything we tried was okay. I've had a different soup from here before, and I've also gotten it delivered, and I'd say the experience is pretty much the same across the board -- decent, solid, nothing bad, but nothing that really stands out for me either. That said, I'd still come back because my girlfriend enjoys it, the family is sweet, and there aren't a ton of Vietnamese spots I've tried out in the Valley yet. It's one of those neighborhood places that's nice to have around, even if it's not something I'd personally go out of my way for.

It had been a while since I visited my places in Reseda and I wanted to see if they're still as good as before. Sandwich Express did not disappoint! Back in the 80's I lived in Northridge and had a Vietnamese co-worker who was a friend and fellow foodie. He introduced me to banh mi and Sandwich Express, and I'm so glad he did! Starting with their amazing banh (baguette rolls), they're baked fresh daily. They're crisp on the outside and perfectly soft in their interior. Not too dense or thick - just the right crisp and airy bread to filling ratio that you want in a banh mi! You can also buy baguettes to take home. Back in the day they were 3 for $1! Yup, apparently I'm that old... today they're a couple of bucks, but still worth it. Sorry I failed to take pics of my sandwich when it was freshly made, I was just so excited to go back in time to this little corner of Reseda that looks like it hasn't changed! The photo shown is the next day.. and that's only HaLF of the sandwich! The lady at the counter was so sweet! Don't assume rudeness for challenges with communication. I was nice and she was kind in return. There's a language barrier and at first she was shy, but once we worked through the English-Vietnamese translations with the help of Google, I was able to ask her if they sell Kho Ga La Chanh (Chicken Jerky) - and she ran excitedly to the back and produced a sealed bag of their homemade jerky! Not the same flavor profile as the stuff I buy in San Gabriel Valley, but it's a start! I'll bring them a sample the next time I get a batch to see if they can mimic the sweet spice. Theirs is a little more "five spice" forward. I placed my order for a #1 "Dac Biet" sandwich, "extra pâté, extra veggies". That's my default sammie by which I judge all Bánh Mi and I'm here to say that even a day later, right out of my fridge it's still THE best Banh Mi in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys! Bright, fresh, generously filled.. and the magic bread. I happen to know that a local chain of popular phô restaurants buys their bahn (rolls) daily from Sandwich Express to make their own sandwiches and to serve with their Bho Ko (stew)! If you're wondering for reference where my bar is set, my go-to banh mi spots in San Gabriel Valley are Bánh Mi Hue Thai and Banh Mi Hoa Phat. ~IYKYK~ What has changed at Sandwich Express? It's not just sandwiches anymore AND they have a few tables inside where you can sit down to eat! They don't have my beloved Soda Xí Muội (salted plum soda) or the lime version either. Just canned and bottled American sodas, but that's not a deal breaker. Check out the posted menu pics. Bún Bò Huě, Bò Kho.. the owner did suggest calling first to make sure these items are available on the day you want to come, but she boasts that it's very authentic! They even have broken rice dishes with grilled pork chop (Cóm Tãm Súòn)! I read in another review that the original owners sold. I don't know if this is accurate or when it happened.. but I didn't see the older people that were often in the kitchen so it's possible! Back to the changes - they have desserts now, too! They also cater! What?!? No longer cash only, they accept Visa/Mastercard. I'm so glad we stopped! They still hold the #1 spot in the area. Convince me otherwise!

We have been loyal customers for over 10 years and frequently order the beef sandwich and pâté. Yesterday, we ordered two beef sandwiches and one pâté. Since we live only 8-10 minutes away, we returned home immediately after picking up the order. When I started eating, I noticed that the pâté tasted very sour and spoiled. Unfortunately, I had already mixed part of it with my rice, so I had to throw it away. We called the store right away to report the issue, and they told us we could bring the pâté back the next day. Today, we returned to the store. We did not request a refund--we simply wanted to exchange the item and were willing to pay the difference for a beef sandwich instead. However, the staff member we spoke with was very rude and accused us of lying, claiming that we had eaten the pâté. We explained that we had to discard it since it was mixed with rice and even showed a photo that we throw it in to the trash, but she continued to question our honesty. In the past, we have had positive experiences with previous staff, and the owners have always been kind. Unfortunately, this particular employee demonstrated very poor customer service and made the situation unnecessarily unpleasant. An apology would have been appropriate. The employee declined to provide her name and appeared hesitant. She is a newer staff member, approximately in her 50s, and spoke incessantly while repeatedly blaming us for the situation. This is not about the cost--the amount is small. It is about how customers are treated. While this issue could have been escalated further, including reporting to the health department, we chose not to. What we expect instead is for the store to ensure proper food quality and provide better TRAINING for staff. Due to this experience, we will not be returning and will share our experience with others.

I wanted beef jerky, a dish I always order from thai restaurants but I couldn't find it on the menu. Luckily there was such a thing when I ordered!!! The beef jerky was chewy and not super hard when I bit it. The meat was good quality, it was a bit like steak to be honest!!! The fried rice was also just regular order but it was so tasty, buttery, and yummy. I loved the honey roasted ribs because it was so tender and flavorful. The panang curry was also super super good. I don't usually enjoy curry like that because it gets too spicy but the mild level was perfect for my taste buds and so good and creamy with the chicken we ordered for it. The white rice it came with would be doused with the curry sauce/stew and it would just be an amazing combo of flavors!!!! I would definitely recommend this spot, and would be excited to come back here for more for even hangouts with friends.

The chicken meat filling in the deboned chicken wing is ultra puréed to the point it's a solid, gummy pâté where you can't distinguish the different ingredients. Cubed Cucumber sweet, acidic vinegar sauce, and sweet, thickened Thai chile sauce are the accompaniments. . 4) Pad Si Yu: Mostly similar ingredients as the Pad Ki Mao but without the aromatic Thai basil, and a sweet soy sauce is used for touch of fermented earthiness. Florets of al dente broccoli. To me, the flavours are duller than the exemplary Pad Ki Mao. Main dining room along with covered back patio seating. Wide window to view what's happening in the kitchen for tables near the front entrance. Good overall Thai food. 4- stars

The staff member at the time thew the menu down at the table after seating me down - a classic experience (heh). I ordered a bun bo xao, and it came out. Overall, the dish was stacked with noodles but fairly plain. An aerial view photo doesn't do it justice, as this bowl was massive. The beef itself was flavored but wasn't too tasty, nothing the fish sauce helped with either. After the meal, I also enjoyed a cup of Vietnamese Iced Coffee, and this stuff was STRONG. I'm no stranger to this drink, but the coffee itself was fairly bitter and concentrated - more than normal. The condensed milk? Almost felt like a quarter can, too! Even after diluting it (through their ice) with half water, it was still too sweet and bitter - do not recommend. Paying was fairly easy, but it was through Zelle or cash - awkward! No credit card option available. Because of these experiences, I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
