Cozy Vietnamese restaurant in a plaza with decent parking. I came here because I saw they have bun cha hanoi and was glad I didn't have to drive all the way to OC! The place itself is not that big, maybe 8 tables throughout? They looked short staffed because the person cleaning up the tables was also the person taking the orders and bringing the food, while it seemed like only one person was working in the kitchen. Nonetheless, service was good and the wait was worth the quality. They've got some other viet staples like banh beo and banh xeo which I have to try at a later time. We ended up getting the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was surprisingly good like Italian restaurant quality, and of course eggrolls. The eggrolls were fresh and crispy and I appreciated that they actually give you a lot of lettuce and herbs to wrap with them. For the mains we got the bun cha Hanoi and bun thit nuong. I think without the appetizers the portion sizes were a little smaller than I would've hoped for but the taste of both were good. Really excellent food. Their banh xèo is crispy and filled with delicious treasures. I was a huge fan of their crab roll, too. Turmeric and dill fish prepared tableside was awesome. Their banh beo was good, but slightly more chewy/gummy than I'm used to - I would try something else next time. All that food ran us $75 before tip, and we took home leftovers!! Ambiance is modest and casual, with only a couple people working in the restaurant so expect a slower but no less friendly and attentive meal. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu. My friends love this place and we ordered it for take out last night, and wow it was so delicious. Portion sizes are great, and the vermicelli bowl is DELICIOUS. The pork is so tender and is cooked really well, and their eggrolls are so unique in the sense that the skin isn't your standard skin that comes with most Vietnamese eggrolls. I also tried my friend's wonton soup, and I can tell they make their wontons in house. The egg noodles in his dish were also perfectly cooked and al dente. read more

This great Vietnamese spot may be tucked away in a little corner strip mall next to a laundromat and 7-11, but it's absolutely worth the hunt. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's a busy area, but once you find a spot, you're in for a treat. The best part about Khuu Bistro is that everything is made to order, which means the food is always fresh and flavorful. We ordered the crab appetizer, fried egg rolls, grilled pork and shrimp vermicelli, the glutinous rice dumplings, and the meat in fish sauce. I love that each time we dine at Khuu, there are so many interesting flavors and the menu features different regions geographically of what dishes are special. There are heaps and heaps of lettuce leaves and all sorts of toppings for the meat, I love that even though the meat is abundant that the balance is maintained between the vermicelli, meat, and veggies. It comes with all the toppings and sauces you need. The price is really reasonable, $13.75. I wanted to like this place.. If you're going to sell something, you should know how to make it, and make it well. I kept thinking, why did I order that? Well, they should not offer it if it can't be made right... i'm talking about the crepe, the banh Xeo. It came out so burnt that I sent it back. Then when the new one came, it was half burnt. The inside of this place is super out-dated. Maybe i'll try it again some-day hoping for better results, but for now, it'll have to wait awhile for them to figure out how to make it proper. Well, that's not true, I've had spring rolls, egg rolls and Vietnamese "meatloaf." My food was delicious! And so fresh! The restaurant is clean and cozy. The man who greeted me was reading a paper when I walked into the then empty restaurant. He looked a little bit like I imposed on his leisure time, lol. He cracked a smile not long after and was very kind and sweet to me. I'm disappointed and feel misled. This kind of treatment will drive people away. I called ahead to confirm they were open and was told yes. I packed up my family and made the trip, only to arrive and find a "closed" sign blocking the entrance. When I mentioned the call, staff reluctantly moved the sign saying they're cleaning. He said I could still come in while cleaning was still underway. Uhh no thanks, I don't want to dine with a side of bleach in the air. This was a wasted trip, and it felt like staff didn't value customers' time. Telling people you're open when you're not and then offering entry while the place is clearly not ready is careless and unacceptable. I hope management understands how easily this kind of treatment drives customers away. This was a total bummer. First thing I started chatting with a lovely Vietnamese brother & sister who were regulars & spoke French- they helped me pick out things to try! I absolutely loved the pork in fish sauce, a recipe from Hanoi. We also got crispy chicken which was delicious. My sauce also ordered beef broccoli but this one was a bit too salty I thought. 2024.08-25/SUN_1000: We were craving Pho but didn't feel like going to our favorite spot in Santa Clarita. We wanted something more closer to home. The only problem is, not many places make my favorite dish, Bánh Xèo Nam Bộ. It's a crepe filled with pork and shrimp and veggies. It's also served with veggies to eat it with. I've always loved for Vietnamese cuisine mixes the hot and crispy with fresh veggies. We ended up finding Khuu Bistro. One of the two places within Reseda and Santa Clarita that makes Bánh Xèo Nam Bộ. We found out that it even supports our Early Bird schedule! On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they open at 9 a.m. and during the week, they open at 10 a.m. Nestled in an inline, tiny shopping center, we found the welcome Khuu Bistro. It's the only restaurant that had a wonderful, calmly decorated exterior. You won't miss it because it's beautiful. I don't know how to explain it unless I use the word "zen". It would definitely be the only restaurant I would choose there because it's inviting. There are plants and a new burgundy awning. Just calming. When you walk in, it has nostalgic decor along with plants, a very clean restaurant and is similar to a bodega or market yet inviting. We were greeted by an older gentleman who asked us if it were our first time. The music created a warm ambiance. It was great to see elders walk in and you can tell they've been frequenting the restaurant for quite some time. This means it's going to be some real good food. We ordered the Eggrolls/Bún cha Ha Noi, to start with. It was stuffed with ground pork, mushrooms, clear vermicelli, vegetables all wrapped in spring roll skin then deep fried. The outer skin of the egg rolls were like no other Vietnamese place we've eaten at. The mushrooms in the rolls give it such a great flavor. It was out of this world authentic and delicious! We now have a new favorite spot. Completely sold. We love how authentic the flavor of the Eggrolls along with the sweetened dipping fish sauce, Nuoc Cham was also delicious! Luckily, the dish I ordered came with Nuoc Cham! We got the charbroiled pork in fish sauce, Bún cha Ha Noi and the Bánh Xèo Nam Bộ, a Vietnamese Crepe. My favorite! Oh my gosh, words cannot describe how authentic the flavors of their dishes are. It made us completely forget our favorite spot in Santa Clarita. Now we found a new spot close to home! Holy moly, the crepe came out light and crispy and the first bite was absolute heaven. The crepe is stuffed with delicious pork, shrimp, and sprinkling of mung bean, onions and bean sprouts. So different than any other Bánh Xèo Nam Bộ that we've tried. Another great fact is their menu consists of different dishes from the Northern, Middle and Southern regions of Vietnam. This is how you know it's legitimately authentic. They let you know! The other dish was the charbroiled pork in fish sauce, Bún cha Ha Noi. My husband asked how to properly consume the dish and the gentleman showed him. Generally, if you go to other restaurants, it's all thrown into a bowl and you're given a little ramekin of the Nuoc Cham. You eat the dish like cold dipping noodles by using another little bowl to place all of your items of a couple of bites inside it along with the broth/sauce and Nuoc Cham. Holy moly, we were in heaven. My husband was very happy and satisfied. He said eating it the proper way changed the flavor and experience. Another great thing was the pricing to portions. Extremely great. Along with the experience from the gentleman that served us, ambience and authentic cuisine, we now have a new place to frequent. My mom and her partner come here every Sunday. The rice noodles with pork and eggroll is very yummy. The pork is marinated well and tender and the eggroll is made with rice paper, giving it that special crunch I love. They give a generous amount of veggies and the sauce is balanced. This place is very unassuming when you first see it. It's located in a strip mall in not the best area, but if you stay combat ready like me, you will have no problems. I decided to try the place since it was top 100 on Yelp in 2023. The restaurant is small and very low key. Menu is straightforward, but I knew I had to try the Pho. Drink selection is in a fridge filled with different bottles. This place would do well to add Boba to the mix. Pho came out and looked like any other Pho I've seen, but that's where the similarities ended. All broths are not created equal and this one is far above all others. Came here on a Wednesday evening around 7:30 pm. There were spots open in the small parking lot. The outside of the restaurant was cute, it had a wall of vining plants and a few pots of flowers. The inside is pretty small but equally cute and a bit eclectic. It had interesting decorations on the wall that ranged from Vietnamese money to miniature trains to a water ski. The lighting was dim and cozy. There were also some live plants in the corner. We were greeted and allowed to sit anywhere from the nice man. I decided to order the 2. Egg Rolls (4) | Cha Gio, 3. Steam Rice Cake | Banh beo, and the 35. Crepe / Banh Xeo Nam Bo. My boyfriend ordered the 32. Wonton Char Siu Noodle Soup | Mi Hoanh Thanh Xa Xiu. The steam rice cake and egg rolls came out first. We were blown away by the flavor and texture of both! The steam rice cake was soft and chewy and it was such a cute presentation! There were 6 shallow and small dipping plates each with the perfect bite. The middle of the large circular wooden board had the fish sauce with pickled radish and carrots. I was skeptical about there only being 4 egg rolls for $11 but they were huge!! They were thick and very meaty, bigger than the size of an American Chinese egg roll. They were also extremely flakey and crispy, the best cha gio I've ever had. I wish there was a little more lettuce to eat with them but there was plenty of mint and radish and carrots. I'm sure I could ask for more lettuce next time. Then came the entrees before we finished the appetizers. The banh xeo was delicious! It was so crispy and gigantic. There was plenty of filling with pork, shrimp, bean sprouts, and onion. I loved that they provided chili sauce, chili oil, pickled jalapeños, and pickled garlic in addition to the fish sauce. I again wished there was more lettuce but so much mint, Thai basil, and slices of radish and carrots. The noodle soup also had so much flavor and plenty of fixings. It was so rich and umami. We were in and out within 50 minutes (we did rush since it was close to closing time, but just shows how quick the food was ready and how we fast we devoured it because it was so delicious!). Arrived 15 minutes before closing (hours on maps was incorrect per usually) however, we were welcomed in with open arms and had a lovely conversation with the owner. His wife (the cook) made a Bun Cha that was so nostalgic for myself of the northern Vietnamese cuisine. I was honored to have been invited in as their guest and be served. The host and co-owners were welcoming and friendly. We got to learn more about the story of the family business from one of the co-owners (the other being the chef). We appreciated them coming to our table and introducing themselves! 1. The food - we got three dishes and all of them were flavorful. I loved the tofu dish that came with plenty of noodles and herbs including shiso, lettuce, basil, mint. We also got the omelette that came with pickles and more herbs. We had about half as left overs since the portions were generous. 2. Nice setting - you walk in and there are various wooden cabinets decorating the space with Vietnamese art and other funky thrift store items on the walls. Was very surprised to find Phnom Penh style noodle soup (Cambodian version of pho)in this part of upper LA and it was very delicious. The dish itself had some unique additions to it that you normally wouldn't see in the dish such and fried pork skin & quail eggs as well. This place may not have an extensive menu like Pho So 1 but the quality is way better! Food: Steamed shrimp dumplings (5/5)- small pillowy glutinous rice balls filled with minced shrimp and pork drizzled with scallions/oil. Comes with fish dipping sauce. Grilled pork, egg rolls & grilled shrimp over vermicelli (5/5): sliced grilled pork was plentiful, flavorful and very tender! (Wish there was more fat on the pork though!), (1) egg roll (crispy and filled with ground pork mixture but kinda small) and (2) perfectly grilled plump shrimp! Never would I have imagined finding tasty Asian gems in SFV, but I have to admit that Khuu Bistro is one of those! Although service here could be improved, the dishes that they serve are likely the best in the SFV! Between my friend and I, we ordered their Banh Beo (Steam Rice Cake), Pho Bo Kho (beef stew), and Crab Rolls. We started with the Banh Beo - ooh these tasted great especially with their nuoc mam (fish sauce). A spoonful of that into the little plates, and that's 2-3 bites of happiness! The pho bo kho came next, and I have to admit that I devoured that so fast! The beef was very tender, and the broth was bold and meaty - the perfect mix of sweet and savory. The crab rolls contained real crab, and it was very crispy. This dish tasted great, and by this point we were stuffed! The staff also checked on us after each dish, and you could feel the aura of pride and confidence in each dish that they served - top quality! Although the staff were attentive at the beginning, getting water and the check was a more difficult experience. There were still three customers, but the staff member at the time was on their laptop. Additionally, the table was a bit greasy and dirty.
