I used to work by this restaurant and it was a favorite to go to for lunch. The buffet was not the best selection but it was much healthier because it had sushi! I also had selections off the menu and they were better than what was offered there. The service was always pleasant but a few time it was a bit slow. My family and I have been going to this restaurant for years and we have had minor issues with it as time went on. The food was good in the beginning, well cooked and great presentation. We actually went more for the buffet on the weekends because of the wide variety and the all you can eat aspect of it. As time went on, the quality became lower and there was no variety in the food they put up in the buffet. Prices got higher and the waiting staff got a bit more rude. Recently we went to the buffet on the weekend, the host that attended us was very rude. He did not greet nor really address us and only said "three?" referring to the amount of people in our party. We did not like our table so we kindly asked if we could have different tables since the restaurant was not busy. (in our experience in any restaurant, the host is happy to accommodate when the restaurant is not busy) When we asked if there's anything he could do, he said no and proceeded to ignore us. We asked again and we did not even get a response. Upon receiving this treatment we decided to leave since we were very upset with the way we were treated and decided not to come here again. The food is average with an above average price tag and customer service is most certainly poor. Beware and take your business elsewhere. read more

I would go to a 3 1/2. This is our go-to Chinese restaurant when we don't want to go to Chinatown. It can be variable. A dish that is great one week will not taste the same two weeks later. Surprisingly the sushi is acceptable so long as you are not too adventurous. Nice decor and good service make for a pleasant meal. The owners are always welcoming. Probably the worst restaurant I have visited, and I eat out almost every night. These people are the rudest, and most ignorant group of people to ever run a restaurant, and they ought to be ashamed of themselves. Regardless, when I entered the restaurant I wasn't even greeted by anyone, which off the bat meant I should have turned and left the place. When I was finally seated, I was next to a table which had a woman who was incredibly obnoxious, and had the filthiest mouth I had ever heard. I had my children with me, and they didn't need to hear this terrible language. My waiter was really bad as well. She couldn't understand my order, and when she did she still managed to not get it right anyway. She couldn't even be bothered to place plates on the table, and instead handed them to us. Also, when the sushi arrived, she didn't even give us chopsticks. In regards to the food, the drinks were terrible, and the sushi was cut so thick it was absolutely disgusting. I will NEVER return here again, and to anyone even considering going here, go anywhere else instead. Fast food is a better option than this place. read more

Had dinner at Bamboo last night. -- 2/16/13. I had never heard of the place but my friend said it was good & so we went! It was a semi busy Saturday evening around 7:30 but there was no problem getting a table. For appetizers we ordered crab rangoon & shao mai (dumpling). The crab rangoon was good -- the shao mai was excellent. For dinner we weren't terribly adventurous -- we ordered beef & mushrooms (has scallions, snow peas, fresh mushrooms & great sauce).. we also ordered chicken & asparagus -- a little bland but still quite good. With those dishes we had the vegetable fried rice & there is only one word: yummy! The entire menu was reasonably priced. The service was very good with the waiter showing up very soon after we were seated and, he checked in throughout the meal & was quite helpful. I will definitely go back! read more

The one star is a reflection of the service we received. First... when I asked if they had any local beer our server wasnt very helpful at all. She basically said all of their beer is in the book. I was looking for a local beer. After my wife and I ordered our 2 entrees and I ordered a beer she tells us there is a $15 minimum per person. I didnt want to argue but we just ordered $32 of food and drinks. We ordered the triple delight which was goodbut the portion is medium sized and smaller than most places for the price we paid. The house special fried rice was terrible. Fried rice should be fried and not just mixed with meat, veggies, and white rice. Server didnt smile at all and never asked if we needed anything at all. She acted like she did not want to be there. Management needs to rethink the $15 min or have servers do the math correctly and maybe post thier policy on the door. read more

We go here for the Sunday night buffet (at least once a month) and it's always been very good. I bit predictable since the items stay pretty much the same each time but very good. They serve ginger lobster which is delicious but I don't really like the way the chop it up. You have to look for larger pieces and not ones of the lobster under-belly to get any meat. Once you figure that out, it's fantastic. They also serve peel and eat shrimp and some sushi items (not a sushi fan so those are wasted on me). The deserts could use some help (the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars and not 5). Everything else is fresh, not greasy, and properly prepared. i really love this place. Me and my boyfriend come here all the time for some amazing sushi. it is a big place so you can guarantee a table for even the busiest weekends. the service is good to and the sushi is always fresh. as far as their chines food goes, i cant say that ive had much of it but the appetizers ive tried were really good to. Prices are pretty reasonable and the whole feel of the place is nice. I like to go here for lunch. Their buffet is great. They constantly refresh the food so you don't have to worry about having stuff that's just been sitting there. There is a big selection of food too. They offer sushi on the buffet too, but I don't eat that. They also have ice cream for dessert. Mmmmm, one scoop of ginger ice cream to finish everything. The only reason I put 4 stars and not 5 is that sometimes the seating arrangements aren't too good. It can be quite cramped at times. read more

I have gone to this restaurant at least 4 times and thought the food was good and service decent. So decided last minute that for my birthday that my husband and I would go there for dinner. It started off with the hostess handing over the buzzer that they give you without even looking up at us. We did not have to wait very long until the buzzer went off. We went up to the desk handing over the buzzer to the hostess to have her roughly take it from my husbands hand. She walked us over to a table tightly in between two tables that the family had children. Since we we're out with out our children I asked if we could sit somewhere else like a booth. She rudely said the restaurant is very busy, then she looked around and said come on. We had gotten a booth and the waiter was not as bad but not to friendly either. He never asked how the food was, never asked if we would like anything else to drink and etc.. Then the waiters and hostess were arguing on the other side of the room we were in. Bamboo Asian Restaurant is a great place to enjoy your next meal. Pulling up to the restaurant,it doesn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary. It can be difficult to find a good parking spot, so right off the back you know the food is good inside. As you walk through the door you're greeted by a hostess surrounded by traditional Chinese art, plants, and architecture, with an Americanized feel to it. The building has a a very sophisticated ambiance to it, yet a casual, relaxing atmosphere. Once brought to your table,you can easily see the cleanliness and organization the staff works so hard to create. While looking over the menu, one can't help but notice the soft Asian themed music that is playing in the background. The waiters and waitresses all are very nice, and speak quietly to further the relaxed calming style of the restaurant. The bathrooms are also very clean, and have a modern design that helps accentuate the sophistication of the building, and are also acompanyed with relaxing music. The astectics of the restaurant are very pleasing, and its the perfect environment to enjoy a great meal. In combination with the restaurant's great disposition, the customer service is excellent. Everyone is very polite, and have positive attitudes, even when serving large parties. My family recently held my uncles 50th birthday there, and our waiter was more then exceptional. When dealing with large groups, its often difficult to ensure this level of service. There have however been times when my service has been rather slow, but it seemed to be due to the popularity and high capacity of the restaurant. The mostly Asian staff are all mostly fluent in English, and are good at dealing with the usual pretentious white people that eat there frequently. Bamboo seems to operate quite well, and the staff are the parts that keep the well oiled machine turning. When leaving the restaurant, I'm always greeted with a "goodbye" and "Thank you", which really shows the extra mile their employees go to ensure customer satisfaction. When ever I go to Bamboo, I always order some form of sushi. The chefs use all the freshest seasonal seafood and ingredients. On my last visit, I ordered the Dragon Maki sushi with a side of General Tao's Chicken. The sushi consisted of raw salmon, eel, and crab rolled up in a rice and sea weed wrap. For the finishing touch, the chefs put ginger and fish roe over the roll, which really complements the flavor. The dish also comes with wassabii and a sweet sauce, but its so good on its own, one doesn't even need to add sauce. Their sushi is delicious, and when eating if you can tell how high quality the ingredenints are. Unlike some restaurants, the sushi is made when you order it so you always know its fresh. The General Tao's chicken was also very good. It had an awesome crunchy taste to it, and a sweet and sour brown sauce. I'm always so hungry when I go that I never even conciter ordering an appetizer. Overall it was a great entree, and unlike most Chinese restaurants, I'm never hungry again in a half hour... Bamboo is an awesome restaurant, and I always leave satisfied. My only complaint would be the higher then normal price, but between the atmosphere and customer service, I can see what your paying for. Weather it be a family outing, or just a quick lunch breaking, bamboo is the perfect place to enjoy your next meal. If I had to numerically rate Bamboo, I would say four and a half stars, and not five because of the high price. This is as good as it gets when it comes to Sushi. The service is fast and polite... and thankfully they added more parking out front (was the only downfall at the time). All of the Sushi/Maki/Specials are super fresh, and presented elegantly and uniquely. I've yet to have anything less than a "this is so good" dining experience. Bamboo is one of our favorites. The takeout tonight was a rare off night. Nothing was as good as it typically is at Bamboo. The Rangoon was undercooked and the filling was missing any crab or crabstick. The crispy beef w/ sesame was not crispy, rather soft and soggy. The sauce was good. The shrimp w/ scallion and ginger had big, raw pieces of ginger, size of a nickel. Very unappetizing. Shrimp was slightly over cooked. Broccoli with garlic sauce, the garlic had been burnt most likely as the dish had a bitter taste. The house fried rice had large chunks of red onion. Overall I think that the prep of the vegetables throughout everything we ordered was sloppy w/ large chunks leaving a lot of big onion, scallion and unevenly cooked components. Most of the dishes had an unusual bitter aftertaste. It was disappointing. We frequent Bamboo for eat in and takeout often and never had a bad meal, until tonight. read more

For an expensive restaurant we expected more. The sushi did not come with a bowl of miso soup or a salad; most sushi restaurants include both with the sushi platters. The soup and salad entice your palette, lengthen your meal and add to the overall culinary experience. This was a Monday night...people weren't waiting on line for tables...there was no rush to "move us through". Certainly a bowl of miso soup isn't expensive for the restaurant to include. Poor taste on their part to not include this. It cheapens the experience. The sushi was boring. Four traditional fish (hamachi/yellow tail, tekka/tuna, sake/salmon and ibi/shrimp). Clearly a "user friendly" selection but nothing that reflected what we expected from the restaurant. Could have purchased the same boring/traditional platter at a supermarket. The rice was also flavorless; not reflective of aromatic sushi rice. The server was efficient but too much so. She whisked away the plates as soon as our chop sticks left them...barely a second to continue in conversation or grab that last slice of ginger without a brash interruption (well meaning, but too much interruption. That too creates a negative dining experience...no one wants to feel rushed through a meal. Overall an expensive meal for two and we left feeling very cheated by the rushed experience, the uninspired food and even the pangs of hunger we left with... I will add however, that the physical environment is very inviting, leading you to expect a delicious meal, but sadly, disappointed when the real thing comes along. read more

Bamboo has the best Asian food around by far. Their buffet is one of the best I've seen and the sushi is fantastic. Their take out service however leave a bit to be desired. Twice now when I have ordered take out to pick up on my way home from work I get home to discover that I was not given what I ordered. The first time I chalked it up to "Oh well, everyone makes mistakes." The second time it happened I called the restaurant and while they were all apologies their solution was for me to come back and they would give me the right food. This meant I now had to drive back across town in rush hour traffic, to correct their mistake and then drive back across town in rush hour traffic where the rest of my now cold food waited for me. To top it off there was no offer of compensation - take the item off the bill...half off for my inconvenience...or better yet, have a staff member bring me the food. read more

The quality of food has gone downhill quite a bit. We have not been here in quite awhile because my daughter is gluten free and they don't have much of a selection but we wanted to try Sunday buffet so she agreed to order something off the menu while we ordered the buffet. Food was just OK, nothing special and for $21.95 I expected better quality. The real shocker is my GF daughter ordered steamed veggies and shrimp for $16.50. It was a small portion so she ordered white rice and they had the nerve to charge her extra for white rice. Her veggies were barely edible. It was only $2.00 so the amount is not the issue, it's that they charge for it, I have never been to a Chinese restaurant that charges extra for white rice. When I spoke to management, they could have cared less and he pulled out the menu and showed me that they charged for rice, very rude. Our server told us he would get in trouble if he did not charge us. I paid the extra $2 but left a very upset customer and will NEVER return! read more
