I'm viet so its a blue moon that I actually go out and get vietnamese food. I do have to say this place was definitely solid. It was really light, fresh, and tasty. We ordered some shrimp spring rolls, a banh mi, and grilled pork and egg rolls. I dug the spring rolls, although the "rice" wrapper they used was thicker than I'm used to because I'm almost certain they're those faux rice wrappers made out of flour that I've seen popping up in stores. The grilled pork was juicy and saucy and yummy. I didn't eat the huge pile of vermicelli noodles because I'm trying to eat less carbs. Overall, a nice lunch date with one of my girlfriends. This small restaurant I don't think ever closed during Covid. They've built an enclosed patio for outdoor dining and their pick up orders are through the roof. Yet, their service remains excellent. They operate in synchrony. Rushing to serve customers while processing pick up orders without bumping into each other. They seemed stressed but not to the point that it frustrates them which frustrates their customers. Their menu is not so cheap but the quality of food and presentation is always good. I would recommend this restaurant for great Vietnamese pho, banh, fried rice and boba. No, I'm never paid to provide my reviews! read more

2 Words: Pho Challenge. I wanted to be the first female on the wall and didn't even come close to finishing their pot-sized bowl in the hour they give you. You get a free shirt, the order free ($21 if you don't finish!), and of course bragging rights/photo on the wall of fame. The bowl is at least 3 large bowls worth and comes the tripe and stuff. The decor is really pretty and relaxing. While their pho is lacking a little flavor, the thin cuts of meat are so tender and delicious! read more

I would give this place a better review except that twice I have come here for dinner and twice I have been rushed out before I was done because the kids working there were in a hurry to mop the floor and close early. The food was all right, not great, but you don't bring four entrees and cocktails all at once, and then ask how many boxes to go- literally. No mention of closing early when you arrive! So this sucks because you can't go there for dinner unless you're going three hours early like 6 pm. Lunch may be ok though. Don't plan on using their table for more than ten minutes. read more

Might be the best pho in simi. Pho so 1 across the street was my go to place for the longest time but I now go here. I'll be honest, my feeling is bamboo cafe seems to be the "cleaner" pho. I'm guessing it might be msg? Maybe bamboo cafe doesn't have it and pho so 1 does. Not sure but that seems to be difference to me. Pho so 1 might be more authentic but I'm now a bigger fan of this place read more

First time visiting and will definitely be back. Great atmosphere inside the restaurant which you feel the moment you step in. Great variety on the menu and delicious food. What a great find! Your basic, non-descript strip mall exterior but "I love what you've done with the place" interior! It's cozy and has both booths and moveable tables for larger groups (there were two large groups , 6-8 ppl, that overlapped service while I was there). The menu is diverse with familiar items such as pho but I chose and would recommend the Salmon with vegetables! A the salmon was seasoned with a dry rub and semi blackened to perfection. Other dishes being served looked delicious. The service was excellent and the staff was very attentive and friendly(even with two large groups). read more

This place is awesome! The food is super yummy and the prices you just can't beat. I got the Pho 9 and Ian got V4. Our food arrived in less than 5 minutes and it was so good. If i lived in Simi i would eat here every day! Extensive fun beverage list to explore. I had the Vietnamese lemonade, which is made with limes instead of lemons, so delicious! Unfortunately, this is the second time that I am providing a less-than stellar review for this restaurant. Both times, there was a mixup in the order. The first time, they gave shrimp spring rolls when I had ordered veggie rolls. This time, they had packed the wrong dish when I drove up to pick up my order. They asked me to wait until they got my order right. I was almost on my way home when they called to say that they didn't fully fill the order. I had to drive all the back to the restaurant to pick up the rest of the order. The restaurant needs to do a better job of ensuring the orders are filled correctly. The food here is pretty good but many pickup customers may be turned off if orders get messed up. read more

The food at this place is really tasty... We ordered shrimp fried rice, shrimp and beef with broccoli, beef pho, spring rolls, egg rolls, shrimp pho, fillet mignon platter, AND a pork sandwich Aaannnddd EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! This place is really good! I actually just love the fun environment and how young and energetic the waitstaff are. Ohhh my gosh there's this really cute boy that recently started working there on Fridays and Saturdays. Seeing how I am still a teenager, I still get a little starstruck about cuteness so I try to go there only on Fridays and Saturdays. But hey if he works more days maybe I'll come more often! I really like the sandwiches there. I've never really tried Vietnamese sandwiches, but when I did.. I was really surprised on why I haven't tried them before. They are just absolutely amazing! They have a couple of plasma TV's and they are turned to sports channels just like any cafe. However this is a restaurant so don't let the cafe in the "Bamboo Cafe" fool you. It's a great place to eat. The food is really consistent for my family and me, so all the other reviews that say that it's not.. I don't know what you're talking about. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I doubt it. I would have given this place 4 and half stars, but I round up instead of down because of the cute waiter hahahahha! :D read more

I must admit that at first, I felt a bit guilty trying this place when I have been such a loyal customer to Pho So 1 which is located right across the street. Upon entering, I noticed the nice decor and more importantly, the friendly staff that immediate approached me. If you've been to other pho restaurants, lack of customer service comes free with your bowl of food. So, I was very impressed when the staff at Bamboo Cafe took their time to warmly greet me. I ordered tea which was delicious and got the pho with filet mignon. Flavor and quality of the meat far surpasses that of pho so 1 but to be fair, pho so 1 doesn't serve filet mignon so I can't really make a comparison. I ordered pho with tendon on another visit and the quality was the same as their rivals. What I was mostly impressed with though, is the quality of the noodle. Sometimes noodles at other pho joints taste very soggy and over-cooked. Not here. The noodles are perfect- nice and al dente. Can be a bit pricey for what it is but not enough to keep me away for long! read more

The food here is good. I went with a friend of mine I ordered a bowl of pho and a beer my friend ordered a rice combo plate. I was still hungry so I ordered an appetizer. It was like an egg roll with tarro and small shrimp inside. My friend and I did not enjoy it and we let them know. They didn't offer us anything instead the guy said ok well don't order it next time. He said so very passive aggressively. The guys name is Bruce. Mind you I have worked in restaurants all my life and when it comes down to it you take care of you're customer. Bruce was very rude and does not know how to take care of a complaint. Bad customer service and for this reason my friend and I will no longer be eating here. This restaurant was good when it first started; yet, in the last year, their food and services have been declining. 1) Their broth has now become incredibly salty, there's no depth in flavor. It tastes like it came right out of a can. 2) Their rolls are dry. 3) When the owner isn't at the restaurant, they often make mistakes on our orders and forget simple order requests. 4) They've greatly decreased the portions of their meats and seafood. 5) By paying extra $ for seafood, they give you (maybe) 2 extra pieces. If you're willing to drive a little longer, please do yourself a favor and go to Love Phò N' Mor in Camarillo, where their broth is perfectly seasoned and more authentic, much better services, a "much" larger menu, and better portions. read more

The food can be ok BUT the way the manager of this restaurant treats his waitresses is disgusting. I do not like it at all when the place is too small with all the loud voice talking around which caused me bad headache. I couldn't even read a page of my book and I never thought that the main dish came before the appetizer. And I took me too long to wait for the dessert. Honestly, I do not recommend this restaurant because maybe you can get good food but there would be a bunch of things which are going to get you tired and mad. We had a pork sandwich whcih was delicious! All through the meal the waitress' are refilling your water glass, which is nice but on the excessive side. What really erked us was the waitres brought us our check we put the money in there with the money sticking out so it could be seen as well as the tip. The youg boy in there yells at us saying we didnt pay, we said look yes we did, then nothing no I am sorry, pardon me, nothing. Everyone was staring at us. Nice customer service...jerk! read more

Bamboo Cafe is some of the best food I have eaten. Light and Healthy and very flavorful. I now eat here 3x a week. I didn't know Vietnamese food could be soooo goood! I bring everyone I know here for great food. Best thing is it is not greasy at all, The staff is awesome. I moved out of state, but would always come back because the food was delicious and service was excellent. I'm sorry to say this visit was not the same. There was definitely a language barrier. It's so hard to find good pho! I took a chance ordering pho in Simi Valley....and am so happy I tried this place! I ordered the food to go. I'm Vietnamese so I can give you very accurate ratings on Pho restaurants. This is one of the best Phos I had ever had. This Pho reminds me of home cook meals. Great food!! The menu has many different choices. I tried most things and loved them all. We usually go over there for dinner and other family events. Terrible service! I asked for an extra lime, but they refused, claiming the manager doesn't allow more than a certain amount. I simply wanted more for my soup and couldn't believe how reluctantly they denied me another lemon. It's disappointing how stingy this restaurant is. I won't be coming back. read more

I was very impressed that they can make everything gluten-free using gluten-free soy sauce! Not only was everything absolutely delicious like it was the first time (especially the seafood curry!) but they held my leftover food for me in their fridge while we finished cleaning out a storage unit. What bothered us even more was that it appeared they may have simply taken the rice my wife returned, added some pineapple to it, tossed it around in the pan, and handed it back to her instead of making a fresh order. Obviously, we can't say for certain that's what happened, but that's exactly how it looked and tasted because we've had the Pineapple Fried Rice before. Mistakes happen, and I normally wouldn't leave a bad review over simply receiving the wrong order. The problem was how the mistake was handled. Between the incorrect food, the unnecessary attitude, having to drive back, and the overall poor customer service, this ended up wasting about an hour of our time. After this experience, my wife and I will not be returning to Chada Thai.
