Great place to eat! Came here in a group of 7 on a Friday night (7pm) and we were luckily enough to get seated within 10 min of showing up! Our waitress was so sweet and handled our big group like a pro. Food came out as it was ready, so expect everyone to get their dishes at different times. Even with such a large group, everything came out in a timely manner! Everything was delicious and everyone was very happy with their food. I will definitely be returning!

I've loved Bamboo Sushi ever since their Portland location, where I used to go all the time. After moving to Seattle, I was so happy to see they opened one in U Village. This has easily become my go-to spot for sushi, especially because of their Green Machine roll. As a vegetarian, it's honestly hard to find really good vegetarian sushi options, but their Green Machine is absolutely delicious and one of my favorites. Highly recommend trying it if you visit.

It wasn't my first time coming to Bamboo for sushi, but we have a favorite roll now! The Green Machine sushi roll with crab in it is my favorite roll! The sauce it just unbeatable, I want to dip everything in it! It's a great option if you're looking for sushi while shopping at University Village!

Bamboo sushi is amazing! I had a great meal here after my shift at work nearby. I started with the cucumber sunomono which was so good it was an appetizer full of thinly sliced cucumbers in a sweet vinegar sauce. Then I got the Citrus Salmon crispy rice which was probably the best crispy rice I've had in Seattle so far! Also had a Sauvignon blanc which is my go-to My server, Lucy she was super friendly and helpful offering yummy suggestions! I'd love to go back again soon especially to try happy hour as everything went perfectly! Also side note the use toilet paper that is made from Bamboos which is great for our environment and went with the name lol!

We came here on a rainy weekend afternoon. We were quickly sat. Everyone we encountered was extremely friendly and attentive. The rolls were delicious. Everything comes out as it's ready so it's best to order as a group. The miso soup and hot green tea were perfect for a chilly, rainy day.

Im sorry but the sushi here is terrible. It was so bad I barely ate. I felt bad for the kids because it was our daughter's birthday and we didn't say anything but later my husband and I were just shocked it stays in business. The quality at the grocery store is better. The spicy tuna looked like it came from a jar. I didn't touch the tuna nigiri because it was hard and dry on the edges. The best part was leaving. Good service. I don't understand how anyone returns.

Sushi was expensive but yummy. Cocktails were a hit too. Service was good but wait time was about 45 mins on a Saturday afternoon. I'd come back for happy hour! We ordered: Green machine (add albacore): 5/5 Garden of Eden: 5/5 Rivers and streams: 5/5 Cocktail: the forager 5/5

Solid and I would come back. To be transparent, I've only gotten takeout from here a few times and have been here once for a Yelp Elite event, so I've never dined in here before. But, for the few times I placed an order and came to pick it up, the place was PACKED - like to the point of somewhat chaotic lol. The quality of the food items were pretty decent - notable ones that I've tried out are their salmon rolls, green machine rolls, nigiri scallop, and chicken karaage. With the salmon rolls and nigiri scallop, the quality of the seafood is fairly fresh. The green machine roll represents a creative take of trying to be 'healthy' with the tempura green bean and avocado ingredients. As for the karaage, it was a decently sized portion, and comes with a wedge of lemon and some tartar/mayo-like sauce. This particular location in U Village is VERY convenient. If you are waiting for a table, you can always go shop for yoga pants at Lululemon nearby or grab a quick drink at Ba Bar. So what's keeping me from giving this a place 5 stars? The prices are steep. I feel my Resy credit through my Amex Platinum credit card is the saving grace that keeps me coming back. Also, their happy hour hours are Mon-Fri 3pm-5pm, which ends way too early. If HH went until 6pm or 6:30pm, I could make it after work (but no way with 5pm).

Great service and great food. We had to wait maybe 10-15 minutes which wasnt bad at all. I have tried a handful of different sushi/rolls from here and they are all fine. You just have to find what you like. Great vibes, really clean and modern. I would go again if i were in the area was craving sushi

Okay I love the green machine with salmon, the spicy edamame, and the crispy tofu!! One truly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu here - I love it so much. Everything is reasonably priced for Seattle sushi in my opinion. The service is always quick and friendly with strong recs from the waiters. I appreciated being seated quickly with the food arriving as it was prepared. Vibes were great as always.

Everything here, the food and ambience, just feels very clean and refreshing. The sushi is fresh, tastes delicious, and is traditional with a simple and modern spin. Friendly and attentive service, too! We got the Bamboo Dragon roll and the Friday the 13th roll, which was our favorite!! So much flavor in that little bite..and the tempura crunchies give it such a fun texture, it accentuates the flavors! We also got this aguachile dish that was so yummy!!! It had the perfect savory and citrus mix of flavors that was just refreshing. The karaage was also good; crunchy and juicy inside, seasoned well with a yummy dip! We would definitely come here again and try out more of their menu!

    Rivers and Streams

Server was super nice! The quality of the fish was top notch. I loved the atmosphere was not loud or crowded at all. I would recommend everything I had expect the Island Hopper simply because I thought that the mango and yuzu were a super powerful combination making me not really taste anything else besides those two flavors. My party agreed, but it was not bad at all. My favorite was the rivers and streams it was super unique and beautifully displayed with elaborate toppings. It was not spicy as well making it easy and comfortable for the entire table. Excellent place!!

Came in on Friday for lunch and was seated right away. From the start, both the host and server were incredibly hospitable and friendly. The ambiance is nice- a chill yet upscale vibe that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Service was absolutely 10/10! Our shrimp tempura hand rolls took a bit longer than expected, but when the host checked in, he explained they had been prepared incorrectly and kindly gave us those rolls on the house. Little gestures like that really go a long way. Here's what we ordered: * 2 shrimp tempura hand rolls * 2 spicy tuna crispy rice * 1 citrus salmon crispy rice * 2 calamari (honestly, some of the best I've had in a long time!! recommend to get your own, you will not want to share lol) * 1 tuna poke * 1 order seared salmon nigiri This was the best sushi we've had in a while and definitely satisfied our craving. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is cuz I'm used to seeing a bit more fish on top of the crispy rice; it felt a little small. But overall, I'm very happy with the experience and will definitely be coming back!

Ask the Community - Bamboo Sushi

Is the Seattle location kid friendly?

It's a large place, some noise. Kids are welcomed, no kid activities but the location around has some fun things for kids to do.

Do they offer any options for lower carb rolls without rice? For example, some places use cucumber instead of rice in the rolls.

    Yes, several options.

You should prepare your entire party ahead of time to stretch their vocal cords before your night out, otherwise you will not be able to hear each other. I'm not sure what is going on with the acoustics inside of Umi, but it is insanely loud (it might not be that way for everyone though, I do have a hearing problem). Umi is the Japanese word for ocean, which is very fitting since you can order any fish possible here. And somehow, my homie that I was with decided to order a steak. I can't fault him, he was ravenous at the time. Admittedly, the steak looked fantastic as well. My other homie is a vegetarian. And even though this is not the most vegetarian-friendly establishment, he was still able to have a nice meal. He explained to me that he is a tofu connoisseur, so we ordered the Agedashi tofu. I've never had tofu prepared this way, and it was some of the best I've ever had. It was bathing in a dashi broth, which was the perfect level of saltiness, almost like a miso soup. The tofu was fried, and when you let it sit in the broth for a bit, it creates a fantastic consistency to each bite. In order to test the true caliber of a sushi spot, you have to try a specialty roll. I was feeling a little spicy that day, so I elected for the Knockout. It didn't exactly knock me out, but I was impressed. First of all, this roll was a looooooong boy special. I always prefer sushi to be made this way, because if a roll is only 6 pieces, the experience is over far too quickly. The roll itself was very enjoyable, and I even convinced Mr Steak to have a bite (he seemed to like it too). A little bit of truffle oil took this thing to the next level, they're definitely innovating in the world of sushi over here. I'd love to come back and try more rolls from the extensive menu here. Maybe something like the Hottie Roll, which was my nickname in high school.

I love this concept. I'm not much of a roll person bc it's always pricey and then you have to eat all 6-8 pieces, so this was right up my alley. We loved it so much, we came here 2x when we were in Seattle. And even our first time we had to get seconds. All the sushi from the beginning are rolls, and near the end they are nigiris. So save some space for the good stuff at the end. The first time during lunch hour, they kept restocking the sushi, and they even had bluefin tuna nigiri at the very end! Score!! I'm more of a nigiri person so I got half rolls and half nigiri. Of course this isn't like fancy restaurant sushi, but more of like casual dining sushi and bc there were so many people, it was fresh bc it was a high turnover. Sushi quality was decent. Reminded me of just like an AYCE sushi quality. You won't get sick, but don't expect Jiro Dream of Sushi quality here. lol. The other time we went was during dinner of 1 hour before they close, the selection wasn't as good as they didn't have bluefin tuna nigiri, but still worth it and didn't cost us an arm and leg to get sushi.
