I have never written a yelp review before but I think other customers need to hear from my experience. My friends and I came to this Bambu location after dining from a nearby restaurant. I recommended this place since I have been to their other locations and I actually like their drinks. We arrived at around 9:30pm on Tuesday, November 18th, 30 minutes before it closed. It took us a while to order our drinks since there were many options to choose from. The associates were helping us too and recommended several drinks. I ended up getting the hot hazelnut mocha since my throat was still sore from being sick. One of the associates walked over to where I was sitting to give me my coffee, which was a nice gesture. I actually liked my coffee, it wasn't too bitter and it wasn't too sweet. Unfortunately, once I arrived back home, I noticed this strange sound in my cup whenever I tilted it. So I uncovered the cup and stirred the drink with a spoon. To my surprise, I lifted up a metal spring. I do not understand how a metal spring can just fall into my coffee without a barista noticing it. And it is about the size of a penny. I feel disgusted knowing that I had drunk nearly two-thirds of my drink with a spring inside. I only give one star based upon the customer service of the employees, but I will never come back to another Bambu again for the fear of having my drink contaminated. read more

First time at Bambu, and I really loved this place! Back in Washington DC, their cups are smaller for some reason, but over here, they're huge! I love it! Here are some things I could say about it: + serene, quiet, secluded area + nice employees + great customer service I ordered the taro smoothie ($3.75): + filled to the top + smooth texture - uneven boba cooking? - the boba was crunchy in some, but soft in others! Came here super early the other morning because it was one of the only tea shops open that early (win). It was very clean. Some small tables but not too "loungey" feeling. Had a huge tv playing terrible pop music helping to add to a very tea shop vibe. The drinks were solid, lots of choices. Lots of other little bites and desserts as well. Huge downside for not taking credit card. I mean it is 2016. I get that there is a charge for business to use it, but please account for that price in your pricing just for customer convenience. read more

As Cuc said, this is the first bambu franchise. It rests in a little corner across the street from Ocean Supermarket next to the 7-eleven. It's well-decorated and the people are all smiles (most likely because it is a grand opening). I tried the che trai cay and it was just as good as the one on hostetter. I thought the longan was refreshingly sweet and the hat luu (imitation pomegranate which consists of agar and water chestnut) was great in that it wasn't as hard as some places make it. I'll have to try some other desserts soon, but this place seems promising. read more

For the longest time I've been going to the one on Hostetter and later discovered this location one day and was like hmm their cups are bigger? Someone tell me, are the cups here bigger for a regular or is it just me? I swear the cups here are bigger! What sets this location apart from the one on Hostetter is that THEY HAVE STAMP CARDS!!! Another reason to come here instead of over there. I've already accumulated hella stamps but imagine all those times at the other location...man oh man, would've I gotten hella free drinks!!! So lately I've been coming to this one a lot more often mainly because of the stamp cards plus their cups seems bigger for a regular. Ever since my first sip of Bambu, I don't think I've been to Tapioca Express, Quickly and Fantasia in a long ass time. Whenever I crave for boba I instantly think of Bambu. I'm ALWAYS having Bambu cravings. I never say "Wanna get boba" anymore--I say "Wanna get Bambu?". I believe all their smoothies are made from real fruits and not powder. It costs the same with or without pearls so I always get with pearl. The only con about this location is that one time my drink was mixed with new and old pearls. It was hella hard...how they gonna try to mix in fresh pearls with old pearls...of course the customer can tell!!! Whenever I order hella drinks they put it in a cheap flimsy cup holder and tie it in a plastic bag...I wish they would invest in the hard ass ones like Starbucks but since its the cheap ones you gotta be careful! I was craving for Bambu's coconut milk with pandan so I decided to try this place since it was the closest to where I was. I'm not 100% sure but I feel like this one is a little cheaper than Bambu in San Mateo but $0.50-$1 more than the one in San Jose. They don't have coconut milk with just pandan in the menu but I've always just asked for a #11 (green bean and pandan) but asked them to take out the green bean and they'll happily obliged. Not at this place. Apparently they said they just can't do it. I'm not sure why they can't just put the pandan jelly into a cup but whatever. After getting my drink I do think it tastes sweeter than the usual Bambu drinks. It's still good but might be too sweet for me. However that's not the reason I probably won't go back. There are literally hundreds of little bugs in that small shopping strip! It was over the cashier when she was taking my order and when I got into my car 7 of them buggers snuck in! The one stars from others geez. I perfer the Hosteler Bambu but this one was fine. Place feels empty and dead but the experience is mostly the same. Workers are nice and they quickly make the drinks as efficient ad they can. I never tried che as I always get the avocado smoothie in Bambu but this time I did. The popular bambu special tastes nasty during the first half. But eventually I got used to it and gotta just appreciate the coconut water and the unique toppings. I have been using this location the last few times, I love the Avocado Smash...I feel they put more ice on it than the other local, ...But today my Avocado Smash was disgusting! The Avocado was NO good! It should have been obvious to the person who made it, because it didn't smash smoothly. The avocado was grainy and weird. Absolutely terrible! I use to stop at the Hostetter location, but I have been stopping here since it's right off the freeway. This was a total waste! I hope they use this review to improve. Ive never tried the bambu in San Jose, but was mostly happy with my experience here. I came here on a weekday night an hour before closing time and most of the seating was taken up. The outside seats were taken up as well. The outside looked really dirty btw; gum and cigarettes littered the floor. I ordered the #10 dessert che - grass jelly, pandan jelly, and red tapioca. The pandan jelly was nice and chewy and the red tapioca had a crunch in the middle because of the water chestnuts. I overall enjoyed my drink, but would prefer more coconut milk next time. My go-to is the Che 3 Mau combo which comes with coconut milk, red/white/mung beans, taro, and pandan jelly. Every bite of this dessert explodes with so many different textures--the creaminess of the beans/taro, the bite of the jelly, the crunch of the ice, and the slight sweetness of the coconut milk simply work so well together. The family and I would stop by here on the weekends for their Che 3 Mau. It's one of the best I've had around the area. I love the huge chunk of Taro they give in their Che 3 Mau dessert. She took our orders and when our desserts arrived she put spoons, straws and napkins into the bag and tied it nicely so we could carry the order easily and said "thanks". My kids and I love Bambu. I've only ever tried their Vietnamese desserts. Not sure how the other drinks taste. I've been following Bambu for awhile. My favorite location is Hostetter, but happy there is one nearby. We always order the #1 special! Coconut Juice, Fresh coconut, Pandan Jelly, Longan. and Basil Seeds. So light and refreshing on a hot summer day. I always order less ice at this location. Even light ice is still a lot of ice in my opinion. During winter months, I just ask for ice on the side. And also, they sell these cute little macarons in all sorts of flavors and designs that are so good. Will definitely be back for more! read more

So I ordered #2 and it came out to $3.25, when the previous visit it came out to $2.95. I didn't think much on it as I thought they probably messed up the first visit. My drink turned out to be Che, which was one of their signature desserts, hence the price increase. I was like uhmmm this isn't what I ordered. I looked up at the menu and there were two #2's on the menu. Wow so confusing. So she gave it back to the guy in the back and got my order right this time. Funny thing is that she didn't even refund me back the amount that was supposed to be charged. I would have given it to them anyways as it was only $.30. When I left with my drink and drove off, I came to notice that I sipped up a metal shaving in my drink. Thank God that I did not swallow it! I ended up throwing the rest of the drink as I did not want to risk anything. I will now think twice before writing a review for a place that I've only visited once. New branch of a nice little cafe chain in nor cal. I LOVE that they are making Che (Vietnamese dessert) more like a pearl milk teal-drink -- easily portable (in drink cups like boba drinks are) and more "hip." VERY smart. I can see my friends coming here and ordering Che like we would Boba, and it makes me super proud to see the food of my culture being shared with the world! If you don't know, Che is like the Vietnamese halo-halo. It's a mix of ice, coconut milk, various beans/jellies/gelatins/fruits, all mixed together and eaten with a spoon and straw. If you've never had it, try it! It's not too sweet, but it's definitely a dessert.
